Hi Elle,
That song is one of my running songs. I use it when I need to get up a really tough hill or when I’m getting tired and need some inspiration — it always works!
Also, how are you liking that MAC foundation stick? I haven’t tried it and am curious.
And thanks for the crock pot ideas. How do you make the meatloaf? Sounds yummy!
Karen says
Hi Shiny,
I hope that you get your paper done! I know the feeling of deadlines looming…ugh!
Regarding forcing yourself to do things you don’t want to do: this is the bane of my existence. I usually have to trick myself by having “an exit option.” For example, if I don’t want to go running, I’ll tell myself that I have to put on my running clothes, shoes and go downstairs and stand at the start of my running route a few minutes. If I still don’t want to go running after all of that I can skip it. Most of the time (like 99%) I’ll get down there and think, “Oh, what the hell. I’m already dressed so I might as well go.” It’s a weird psychological trick that works for me.
And if all else fails there’s always makeup bribery. 🙂

Hi Caro,
I am a naturally an impulsive, go-with-the-gut kinda girl, too. In some ways, it’s such a fantastic trait to have (life is certainly never boring), but it’s also a very challenging one at times, too. I’ve found that as I get older one thing that helps is to just step back and force myself to take some time before making decisions. Waiting one day (or one hour, even) can make a difference.
Karen says
Hi Tania,
You will be the first makeup lovin’ deacon I’ve ever known! That’s so cool! 🙂
Was there a moment when you just knew that was what you wanted to do? Or was it something that took time to decide upon?

Hi Vampy Varnish,

Hey Karen!
It is an awesome workout song. 🙂 It kicks your butt and some of the lyrics make me laugh too.
I’m liking the stick so far–I don’t need a whole lot of foundation these days (knock on wood) and I just twist it up a bit and use a foundation brush to apply it to my face. It’s really easy to use and it doesn’t have that weird smell that some foundations have.
As for the meatloaf, I just do the usual meatloaf recipe–ground beef, eggs, onions, garlic, celery, red pepper, bread crumbs, ketchup, sometimes pine nuts (yes I put weird random things in my meatloaf sometimes!), shape it into a loaf (usually with the help of a loaf pan since I can be completely helpless) and then flip that upside down and cook it in the crock pot for a few hours on low (great for when you have things to do around the house and don’t want to be bothered with checking the stove every 5 minutes).
