This giveaway is closed, and the winner has been contacted (CONGRATULATIONS, JULIE!!!), but check back next Saturday for another giveaway.

Good morning, sassy pants! At some point between 2 and 3 a.m. I decided that it was absolutely necessary that I get a mani/pedi this morning before the baby shower, so I’m currently downing some decaf green tea and shoveling a whole wheat English Muffin into my face so that I am able to get this important task done and, yes, it feels extremely important.

I don’t know if it’s just pregnancy hormones, but I’ve been getting fixated on things lately. I just really want mint green nails…

So, today’s giveaway: $50 for Sephora. I know you can handle it. πŸ™‚ It’s really easy to enter. All you have to do is leave a comment down below.

Good luck, and have a great weekend. Heck, you never know when you’re gonna win. Check this out: Stephanie won the big $250 mystery makeup giveaway (which ended up being worth more than $600, she says in a whisper).

OK, talk to you soon. Your tabby nephew says “mrow!”

  • One (1) Sephora eGift card containing $50 sent to the winner by email (international readers, you may opt to receive $50 sent by PayPal instead).

  • Enter by leaving a comment below.
  • Open to U.S. and international readers.
  • You must be 18 or older to enter (or otherwise an adult based on your local laws).
  • Your comment can be about anything at all, but here are some ideas if you’re stuck:

    • Best nail polish remover?
    • Do you wear sunscreen in winter?
    • Your favorite fancy coffee drink?
    • When was the last time you went to the zoo?
    • How adventurous are you with your hair?
    • Do you double cleanse?
  • One entry per person.
  • You must use a valid email address to win.
  • The giveaway ends on Monday, February 1, 2016 at 11:59 PM (Pacific Time). πŸ™‚

  1. Kendra Kammer says:

I recently adopted a new skincare routine and I LOVE it and I want to tell everyone.:) For one thing, I found a (strangely unknown) AHA/BHA serum called Serious Serum, which is straight-up changing the texture of my skin! I also discovered No Bleeding Lips, a clear lip pencil so I’ve been having lots of fun with lip color!
    Thanks for doing the giveaway!

  2. Deb says:

I’m not very adventurous with my hair at all. My hair is stuck in the 80’s…although I no longer use Aqua-Net!

  3. Julie says:

I do double cleanse! Usually on a day where I’ve worn makeup, otherwise I just skip the cleansing oil.

  4. Vanessa says:

Not adventurous with my hair! I’ve cut it short a couple times beforem but unfortunately, it doesn’t suit my hair time. Regrettable decision. I am planning on coloring my hair soon though! I am thinking balayage!

  5. Katrina says:

A caramel macchiato from Starbucks – both hot and cold are delicious!

  6. Keyana says:

The best nail polish remover is pure acetone. It removes everything, even glitter! I mitigate the dryness by washing and moisturizing my hands immediately after.

  7. Allison says:

My hair is naturally curly, so the rare times are straighten it are as adventurous as it gets.

  8. SJ says:

Do I wear sunscreen in winter? You bet! I have so many things wrong with my body, that sometimes it feels like at least blocking the sun from my skin is something I can control – so I do. Even though we have UV indices of 0 most of the winter, I’m wearing sunscreen. Still trying to find my perfect sunscreen though.

  9. Anna Roszak-Robinson says:

I love the great information you provide, thank you πŸ™‚

  10. Lindsey says:

I actually just started wearing sunscreen daily, but yes, I wear it in the winter. Also, I love mint green nails! Good choice πŸ™‚

  11. Ema says:

My fancy coffee is a Skinny Vanilla Latte! It’s the only coffee drink I can handle! Also, I would love to be a little more adventurous with my hair. I love my color and I wouldn’t change it for the world. But the shape?? Not happy right now. I’m in serious need of a haircut… Maybe I’ll cut a couple of inches.. Love your blog!

  12. Calyn says:

I use to be pretty adventurous with my hair color, I’ve had it brown, black, blue, purple, as well as fire engine red.

  13. onegreatsmile says:

I make my own espresso every morning and and a splash of nice hot milk. Not really a name for it but it sure is good! My old Krups steam espresso maker is over 15 years old and still goin’ strong! They don’t make ’em like that anymore!

  14. Paula says:

$50 Sephora giftcard? Count me in!!! Always something I think I need thereπŸ˜„πŸ˜„. Love their big selection of cosmetics❀️❀️❀️

  15. Carolin says:

I bought the Dior Glowing Pink Highlighter today and I’m soooo happy about this buy! It was quite difficult to find it in my country, I can’t wait to use it but it’s almost too beautiful to touch πŸ˜€

Greetings and lots of love <3 from Germany πŸ™‚

  16. Maria says:

I’m still looking for an amazing nail polish remover that gets nail polish off quickly! Looking forward to seeing some suggestions.

  17. Ashley says:

I just discovered MAC’s Paint Pot from this website. It is awesome!

  18. Maria J. says:

I wear sunscreen all year because it’s better to be safe than sorry. I will normally wear SPF 30 in the winter opposed to the Spring & Summer that I will wear SPF 50 during the day.

  19. April says:

I always, always wear sunscreen. My skin is prone to hyper pigmentation so sunscreen is essential. My sunscreen is from Missha, I prefer the sunscreens from Asia, they have better consistency and textures πŸ™‚

  20. Lyse Davitt says:

Gingerbread latte from Starbucks or a Sugar Cookie latte from Tim Hortons. Unfortunately both are seasonal. πŸ™

  21. Joni M says:

Hi karen, hope you are having a great weekend. Hope you are feeling okay pregnancy wise πŸ™‚ My hair is naturally wavy so sometimes when it’s wet I will put product in it to curl or wavy it out some more, or I will just straighten it.

  22. Christine says:

Favorite coffee drink is currently an almond milk flat white. Yum! Ever since I spent a lot of time in Vienna, I’ve been looking for a barista who knows how to make a Wiener Melange but I have not found anyone so far who even knows what it is. It’s basically a Viennese latte — but BETTER. Also, I’ve been meaning to try a “Cortado,” which is equal parts espresso and steamed milk, so that you can actually taste the espresso (which is what I’m after).

Hope you had a great time “in” the shower! πŸ˜‰

  23. Tiffanie says:

I hope you have an amazing and memorable time today, Karen!

  24. Hilary says:

A chai latte is as fancy as I get in the coffee department. Otherwise, just regular hot or iced coffee!

  25. Karleena says:

I actually just started wearing a daytime moisturizer with sunscreen in it because I walk around my campus a lot!

  26. kristen says:

Ooh! Thanks for this chance! I’m a drip coffee girl, all the way (boring?) πŸ˜‰

BTW, I’m never sure where to check where the winners are. Do I come back to the original post on Monday?

    Thank you!!

  27. Megan says:

I really like nail polish wipes.

  28. Allysa says:

Ahhhh, I hope the baby shower is wonderful!

I’m a devotee to Caroline Hirons’ skincare knowledge, so of course I double cleanse. It doesn’t make sense to just remove your makeup and not wash your face … Like, you’ve had all that junk on your face all day, don’t you want to make sure it’s all off? Ugh, just thinking about not double cleansing makes me feel so dirty.

I’m currently using The Face Shop’s Rice Water Light Cleansing Oil as my first cleanse, and Anthony’s (formerly Anthony Logistics For Men) Glycolic Cleanser as the second – the whole ritual makes my face feel clean and soft but still hydrated.

  29. Tiffany says:

    Mint green nails sound fabulous!

  30. Michelle says:

Hi ! I have to say I LUV coffee, my favorite coffee comes from three places: Philz in they Bay Area, Tupelo’s from Sacramento, and a Midwest fav, Caribou coffee. The most exotic is from Indonesia called Kopi Luwak, and it’s a bit wierd but it’s coffee beans that’s been pooped out of civet cats. It’s weird and seemingly nasty oh but the coffee is SOOoo good.

  31. Solangel says:

I double cleanse when I remember to. Really does a fantastic job though!

  32. Melanie says:

I actually don’t double cleanse. I’m just too lazy! Surprisingly I haven’t seen any significant breakouts, so maybe I should consider myself lucky :p

  33. Eileen says:

I currently have blue, purple, and turquoise highlights in my naturally black hair, so I guess I’m pretty adventurous!

  34. Sarah says:

I love the Target up & up polish remover dip-it. It even gets glitter or sparkles off.

  35. Judy says:

    Can’t believe it’s already February…

  36. Icequeen81 says:

Do you wear sunscreen in winter?
I use too when I was Europa
I use sunscreen every day now even is in the rainy season over here
the downside of sunscreen is one my dogs wants to lick it , I have to walk away from her, so she won’t lick it the same with steam cream and my
    natural papaya deo

    Do you double cleanse?
sometimes but my way first natural soap then natural witch hazel

  37. Lauren says:

Have an amazing, fun baby shower, and show us some pics of that mint green you are sporting! Ooo hair…ugh. I live between London and Chicago. London neve stops raining, so I truly can’t fight the frizz. A complete stranger asked me yeterday out of nowhere, “what will you go we it frizzy head of yours? You need a professional to straighten that.”
WHAAAAAAATTTT?! I sweetly replied I should get a tutor to help me with unsolicited advice, turned away and criEd the rest of the day!! The head of frizz has much more attention and manageability in Chicago! Ohhhh, home sweet home! Karen, have the best day ever!!! I hope you are pampered, and that you and BG are spoiled rotton!

  38. Laura says:

Yes, I wear sunscreen and sunglasses in the winter. The reflection of the sun off the snow isn’t something to mess with.

  39. Lisaoshea says:

I double cleanse lately but only because I’m using a cleansing oil recently and use it to remove makeup so I like to wash my face again after.

  40. JackieC says:

The last time I went to the zoo was last May, but not to see the animals. As a school teacher, my district had a meeting there to inform us about the different educational programs the zoo offers. It looks like my class will be going there in a few months and I can’t wait.

  41. Tatiana says:

With my fluorescent white skin I wear sunblock 365 days of the year and long sleeves for most of it. There is a reason I really dislike summer.
Ooh! Mint green nails! Please post a pic of that mani/pedi when you have a chance. Of course, I would love to see the baby shower shower of gifts, too! Getting so excited for you, baby girl will soon be here!

  42. Angie says:

I always double cleanse, I like to make sure all makeup comes off!

  43. BlackAsphodel says:

How adventurous are you with your hair? Not at all, unless someone else does it for me.

  44. Claudia Davis says:

I have had the flu for over a week and all Ive done is snuggle with my cat! Not so bad, right?

  45. Janetta says:

    I love a good PSL!

  46. Kim Henrichs says:

I wish I was more adventurous with my hair. I have no idea how to style it other than wearing it down or in a plain ponytail.

  49. Coline T. says:

I think that “Extra strength remover” by Sally Hansen is the best nail polish remover! πŸ™‚

  50. Sarah Sq. says:

Fun fact, I don’t drink coffee ever. I feel like the only one on earth that doesn’t lol.

  51. Nicole says:

    I do double cleanse!

  52. Jessica Harrison says:

Best nail polish remover is Formula X Delete, hands down! πŸ™‚

  53. Gina M says:

I am pretty adventurous with my hair, but I try to limit my new styles/color to about once a year. I am growing it out right now and looking to lighten it up around springtime.

Thanks for the chance to win!

  54. Amy says:

I am completely boring with my hair.

  55. AmyBS says:

I went to the zoo last summer with my friend and her 2 year old. It was an adventure but we had a ton of laughs. Now he says I’m his friend and not hers.

  56. Brittany says:

I double cleanse very infrequently. If I’m too exhausted, which is very often, I try to at least wash my face.

  57. Emily says:

The Ulta brand nail polish remover works great and is a great price!

  58. Michaela says:

Hi Karen, my answer to two questions:
    1. yes I double cleanse: first I use Dermalogica “Preclense” which is an oil that takes off all your make up. I really like the smell.

    2. My favorite coffee drink is Mexican coffee. I tasted it one time at a restaurant and I think they put some kind of liqueur in there that’s why it was so rich and yummy.

  59. Robyn Bellefleur says:

I love Carmel Macchiatos from Starbucks, it’s my weekend treat!

  60. Christiana M says:

I live in San Diego CA so the Zoo is a regular excursion. Frankly, I prefer the Wild Animal Park where the animals are in large more natural habitats.
    And I LOVE Vietnamese coffee!

  61. Kait says:

Best nail polish remover by far is the sephora instant nail polish remover. Its one of the sponge ones and it works so quickly!

  62. Christy Peeples DuBois says:

one time when I went to the zoo to carry my two daughters, the youngest under 1 year of age and still taking a bottle, when we got back to the car to leave I had locked my keys in the car. This was horrible for more than just kicking my jets in the car because my cooler with the bottles were also locked in the car and the one bottle we carried into the zoo with us had long ago been emptied. Short story is after a couple of hours a lick smith got the car unlocked but it was a zoo trip never forgotten. Hope you have a great shower with your mint mani. Thanks so much.

  63. Debora Covasa says:

I do wear sunscreen in winter, thats when you make wrinkles.

When I go to my hairdresser, I tell her – Just let the spirit move you and do anything you want. I leave with beautiful gorgeous hair every time. Because she has total freedom, I am now one of her most favorite clients.

  67. Sandy says:

Good Morning Karen, it’s rainy and gloomy here in Vancouver today, how about you? Hope you are feeling great today. I love a Cinnamon Dolce Latte when I’m craving a treat, London Fog would be a close second! I really dislike the smell of sunscreen and only wear it when I’m in the direct sun of summer. Even so my skin sometimes reacts to it if I wear it too much. Happy Weekend.

  68. Cristina says:

  84. Sarah W says:

I am very boring with my hair; I just don’t have the energy/attention span for a lot of upkeep, and whenever I’ve branched out I’ve regretted it because it usually demands some new effort on my part…

  85. Sarah Duehr says:

I rarely wear sunscreen, even in the summer. Unless I know I’m going to be spending the day outside, I don’t wear anything beyond what’s in my foundation/primer.

Which is probably dumb since I’m super pale skinned and burn easily.

Ok, so I want to answer this question:
Which beauty related item deserves more recognition?

To me it’s the “my Beauty Ligh”t which is a handy, portable light in (daylight white LED) that helps with makeup application in rooms with poor lighting.
You can stick it to your mirror and plug it and voilΓ‘! -Your face is perfectly lit. I use it for when I do makeup for photoshoots or simply at home for when I need some extra lighting when I travel. Plus it looks like a wand which is really cute, too πŸ˜€

Right now the brand did not expand to the US, but I think there’s a market for items like this <3

But here in Bosnia is cold and there is not much sun, so there is no need for sunscreen. Thank you for another giveaway.

My fancy coffee drink is White Chocolate Mochas from Starbucks

  183. Cory says:

    Hey hot mama & family!
Soooo… I semi-recently started taking my makeup off with a micellar water. I usually use two cotton rounds (both sides) that are soaked all the way through. Then a face wash, & after that I use a toner. I’ve been hooked on Dickinson’s pore perfecting toner for a while now, you get 16oz.’s (almost 500ml’s) for around $5/$6, so it’s a sweet deal 😊 plus it doesn’t have a scent. So I suppose that’s double cleansing, rt? I’m not positive, but I know my skin feels much better than it used to & I don’t break out unless I neglect to wash my face brushes in a timely fashion 😬
So I’m about to attempt my 1st re-pressing of two NYX nude matte shadows that broke when I pried them out of their plastic containers. I’ve nvr attempted this before! Hope it works out well!

Have a great weekend (what’s left of it), Karen & fam!

  195. Lesley T says:

i put on a 30 SPF moisturizer every morning, right after I brush my teeth – and if I’m going out walking or cycling, I put on sunscreen over that.

I use sunscreen everyday! Even in the winter or on cloudy days.

Always wear sunscreen BUT that is just because it is in so many of the facial products I use. I went gray at a very, very early age and colored it for many of those years. Someone told me to stop coloring it…wish I could remember so I could thank them. I now get tons of comments on the shine and prettiness of my white hair. So that is my hair adventure.

  213. Julie K. Edelstein says:

I’ve just learned to be more adventurous. My hair was down to my hips for years and I recently chopped it to chin length. It’s so nice and light and I don’t have to spend any time at all brushing it. It’s really nice!

  216. Sam says:

I love trying all kinds of coffee drinks, especially the seasonal lattes at my favorite local cafes!

  217. Cindy says:

Nope, I don’t wear sunscreen in the winter but I know I should. I’m VERY fair (think Casper) and I hate wearing it in the summer (I do though) because I can’t stand the heavy feeling of it. No matter what I try I just can’t stand how it feels. In the winter I just don’t bother.

Double cleanse? Why yes! Clinique Take the Day Off cleansing oil in the winter + Clinique anti-redness cleanser, and in the summer it’s Olay wipes for sensitive skin + Clinique anti-redness cleanser.

Adventurous with my hair? Eh, NO. I have the same curly haircut FOREVER and have been letting it grow longer. God help the hairdresser that cuts it too short.

  221. Jen J says:

Funny you should ask about wearing spf during the winter…I applied some the day after the Blizzard in NY and I didn’t blend it properly. My boyfriend asked what’s that on my Face. Sunscreen is an absolute must all year round! I am Filipino, so skin cancer is not our biggest worry, however I do worry about wrinkles! I don’t need any premature aging or sun spots! 255. Katherine Wilson says:

I happen to be very adventurous with my hair. My philosophy is that color can be repaired and cuts will grow back. That being said, I am on the fence about whether or not to shave just the sides of my hair. You know how some people have a pretty head? I’m not sure if I do,but I am tempted to just buzz the sides short with my new color (a blend of greys). I have had lavender hair for quite a while and it was a toss up between coral and grey. If the grey doesn’t work I will be trying coral.

  295. Wendy says:

Hii! Yes, I doble cleanse everyday!

  296. Andy says:

Ohio weather this winter is so weird. It’ll snow for a couple hours, rain the next day, and feel like spring the rest of the week. I keep my makeup routine simple during the winter because my face gets so dry. But on a non-makeup day, my Aveeno moisturizer and nivea lip balm are my go to’s.

  297. Rayshawn says:

    Happy Weekend everyone

  298. Rena says:

Lovely Giveaway! Now I want to go to the zoo lol. Have a Fantastic Weekend!

  299. Cathy says:

I don’t like coffee- the only time I like it is when it’s in chocolate :)). My make-up has SPF so I don’t put on sunscreen during the winter. And I’m from Chicago so the rest of my body is covered :)).

  300. Erin Ortiz says:

I always use 100% pure acetone as my polish remover. I used to be a nail blogger and it was just the fastest and easiest thing to use. It’s not as terribly drying as everyone thinks it is. It’s also the only remover that doesn’t give my husband asthma attacks because it doesn’t have any chemicals added to it.

  301. Marisela Bennett says:

My Favorite Fancy ice blended coffee is from Basking Robbins Cappucino blast they are so delicious! They make it with coffee ice cream is so freaking good!!

  304. sheila ressel says:

Since I live in Florida I do wear sunscreen in the winter.

  305. Isu says:

Im so not adventurous with my hair. One time i took the plunge and got bangs!. And bangity bop it was horribleeeeeee….. i had to wear pins and keep my flyaways steady for nearly 2 months. So now i just straighten my hair and just have a layaer. Nothing fancy..

  306. Wanda says:

I also use a moisterizer with SPF 15. With so many cosmetic brands available, I find it difficult to choose the correct blush and bronzer. Anyone else with that problem?

  307. Kelly says:

I am all about the double cleanse! Since I started doing this I have noticed a big change in my skin texture!!!

  308. Maria C. says:

Just went to one of my good friend’s baby shower yesterday. Her lashes were on point! I think you two are due around the same time.

  309. Alexandria Tinnon says:

I was literally just talking to a friend about how I am clueless as to what to do with my long hair. I mean like easy, stylish hairstyles that require little time to pull off. So no I am not adventurous when it comes to my hair. I want to be though!

  310. Lauren says:

Have you ever tried the St. Tropez In Shower Gradual Tanner? I’m very curious if it works!

  316. Shelley says:

I try to wear sunscreen year round, but it’s harder to remember in the winter. I tend to focus on a good moisturizer for my combination acne prone skin.

  317. Katarina Vidal says:

I decided to answer all your suggestions! Thanks for the opportunity to win. The best nail polish remover is just off brand acetone ones. I just feel like it’s the only thing that can get it off but I don’t notice a huge difference by paying any more than store brand. I don’t wear sunscreen in the winter but I know I should. I’m trying to be better about it! I don’t drink coffee but the caramel apple spice from Starbucks is so good. A few years ago was the last time I went to the zoo. πŸ™ I would say I’m mildy adventurous. I’ve gone deep red and had pink tips but I’m always really cautious about changing it. I double cleanse any time I have makeup on.

  318. Camille Whittemore says:

  322. Vanessa says:

I’m afraid I’m not one to wear sunscreen even in the winter. Really, I depend on The Weather Network’s UV rating for the day to see if I need to wear sunscreen or not! Plus, it’s always grey here in the winter and rainy and drab…

  323. Esther says:

  328. Chas says:

I don’t do coffee actually. I prefer teas. So a fancy tea for me would be either a green tea latte or chai latte. Mmmm!

  329. Yvette says:

I was forced into being adventurous with my hair in 2004 when I had brain surgery…. I’ve worn it short and shaved on one side ever since! I just had revision surgery a couple of weeks ago and my docs just gave me a new (questionable) haircut to work around! Sometimes life pushes you into difficult situations that you learn to embrace πŸ˜€

Yes, sunscreen is important all of the time! Even though I always wore it and I am only in my 40’s I still got skin cancer once. I caught it when it was really small and it was removed without an issue, but now I would NEVER even consider skipping the sunscreen!

  336. Whitney says:

I use pure acetone! I’ve tried switching to something gentler, because it dries the crap out of my nails, but I’m spoiled; nothing else works as quickly.

  343. Xandria says:

I could use a Sephora gift card right about now. Sadly a bunch of my makeup was destroyed in the 7.1 earthquake here in Alaska.

  344. bearby says:

No offence to other people. My personal view is that animals should not be kept in captivity. Despite many zoos have contributed in saving animals, if the animals are not released back to the nature, those zoos are not doing the animals any good in the long run.

  345. Emily says:

    I don’t think I’ve ever been to a zoo

  346. Illy Junus says:

I’ve been skipping sunscreen this winter because I haven’t really been going out when the sun is out!

  359. Natalie says:

  363. Jennifer says:

Best nail polish remover hands down (no pun intended) is Deborah Lippmann’s The Stripper.

It’s gentle yet it removes polish, even glitter polish, quickly.

So mint green on your nails what about your toes? I had red toes for Michael’s birth. They were quite festive πŸ™‚ And it’s never too early to teach about colors.

  367. Roz says:

It’s probably been at least 12 years since I’ve been to a zoo.

  368. Katelyn says:

I definitely wear sunscreen in the winter! Except when I get lazy.. If the sun’s out it’s still important to protect your skin (:

Decaf coffee with coconut or almond milk. Caramel or pumpkin flavor. Sunscreen always. Although I may just used a tinted moisturizer with spf on a cloudy winter day. Started double cleansing after using Ponds for years. Wish I had started earlier. But looking for a better fragrance free cleansing oil than Garnier. Why is that so hard to find?! Thanks for the giveaway! Have a wonderful shower!

  372. Sakura says:

Happy Sunday! I am the princess of sunblock! I wear it everyday(on my face and neck only in the winter.) My favorite is Replenix Sheer Physical Sunscreen spf 50+ for my face. After you apply it and wait a few min., it completely disappears and is perfect under makeup. It works like a primer and doesn’t run when I get hot.

I definitely wear sunscreen during the winter! Best nail polish remover is the pink Sallys Beauty Supply brand!

  378. Monica B says:

The best nail polish remover I have experienced so far is the Remove + by Zoya. I can pretty much take off all my nail polish with one cotton ball (sometimes two if the polish is particularly tenacious). It also took off all the glitter polish my friend had on in one go. It’s pretty amazing πŸ˜€

  379. Clemence says:

I am addicted to coffee, I can’t live without it, I have many cups a day & I refuse to admit how many cups per day (its after 10 p.m. now and I am drinking a cup of coffee while typing this).
My favorite fancy coffee drink is a iced soy milk Starbucks Caramel Macchiato w/an extra shot of espresso with McDonalds french fries….you may think that’s weird but I consider it having eclectic taste.
FYI: several years ago I had this for lunch 5 days a week for 6 months and I gained 10 pounds, who knew that would have more calories than eating a regular lunch?

  383. Colleen P. says:

  385. Elaine says:

-Favorite nail polish remover is the Zoya brand, it is the only one that does not dry the skin around my nails and has a very pleasant scent
    – Winter sunscreen?? You bet! Even if it is cloudy out, I am not taking chances, I have a family history of skin cancer so that’s why I am terrified of the sun damage no matter the season.
    – Double cleanse? I think I cleanse my face at least 3 times every night and then proceed to use toner and miscellar water afterwards.
    – Favorite type of drink would be any sort of espresso or coffee drink, I love trying new ones if there’s seasonal ones available. πŸ™‚
    – Last time I went to the zoo I was probably 9 years old, thanks for reminding me I should go back soon!

  386. Terri says:

  391. jeanie says:

heck yeah to sunscreen in the winter!

  392. Danielle says:

I don’t know if it’s considered double cleansing but I always wipe my face with a makeup wipe before actually washing with face wash.

  393. Karen says:

I have no idea what the best nail polish remover is but if anyone has any suggestions, I’ll take ’em! Also, how to take off gel polish without completely damaging your nails cause, girl, that stuff eats my nails up!

I don’t actually wear dedicated sunscreen at all (I know! bad me!) because my moisturizer has SPF 15 and I figure that’s good enough… I know, I know…

Call me plain, but I love cappuccinos. Nothing really more fancy than that – And I like my cappuccinos dry. πŸ™‚

Last time I went to the zoo was probably this past summer. I absolutely LOVE the zoo and we go pretty often. Our local zoo is only $4 admission but parking is always a nightmare. I can’t wait to go again! I’m deployed right now but found out there’s a zoo kinda close to where I am so I’m going to try to get out and visit πŸ™‚

I’m actually not very adventurous with my hair. I got a perm once (never again! I wanted a body wave and she gave me a Shirley Temple!) and I’ve dyed my hair darker twice. I tried to bleach my hair in high school and when it turned out a beautiful orange color, I learned that I had natural red highlights in my hair that I didn’t know about so…yeah. There are no photos of that incident.

I don’t currently double cleanse but I’m looking at getting into the whole Korean beauty 10 step procedure. I ordered some masks and I’m trying to find a good essence to use… Any recommendations?

  394. Ana says:

So many questions I don’t know which one to pick. Ok, lets go with the hair one. I’m all about natural look in both makeup and hair. But I’ve been experiencing weird urges to do something wild with my hair. I have long chocolate-copper hair and I love them very much. And in those wild visions of mine I see myself with curled half-blonde highlighted short bob. Sometimes it’s even lavender instead of blonde. The reason why I’m hesitating so much is that it’s going to take such a long time to achieve the look I have at the moment. Maybe if I was painfully bored with my natural hair the choice would be easier.

  395. Joselyn Hernandez says:

It’s been too long since I’ve been to a zoo!

  396. Jilan Tobar says:

I am always so afraid to change my hair it’s ridiculous. I LOVE the zoo, seeing animals ignore me while doing their own thing makes me so happy. I try to double cleanse but it takes discipline to stick to it! My skin loves it when I’m consistent though. Lately I’ve been cheating and using a Neutrogena wipe and then Garnier micellar water to “double cleanse”.

  397. Toan tran says:

    I double cleanse every night.

  398. Katelyn says:

Happy to have lighter fare lined up next, my library waiting list copy of Caliban’s War by James SA Corey just became available. The books are being made into TV series on Syfy called The Expanse – season finale this week and they’ve been renewed for season 2, woohoo! Good old space opera, my favorite. πŸ˜€

  419. Sarah says:

Yes, I double cleanse at times… with a facial oil to remove makeup, and then with a foaming cleanser afterwards to remove any leftover debris and makeup.

  420. Carm says:

I use Eye Makeup Remover lotion and then a hydrating cleanser, does that count as double? I just started alternating some of those acid peels from MUAC and they are amazing. My skin is so smooth and glowing. So now I must wear sunscreen everyday.
Zoo: Nope, its too cold here. Although kids are free in Feb so I may bring them on a nice day
Nails: Too lazy to care for my nails
Hair: Quite, I love changing it up
Coffee: I love regular coffee but the best is when you get it from a fancy Italian restaurant. I want to have that at home!

  421. Alexandria K says:

Around a year ago I realized how dangerous the sun can be for skin after a lifetime of tanning, and now I wear sunscreen religiously in all seasons!

  422. Alicee says:

Fa La Latte from Caribou! Too bad it’s a seasonal drink and not really coffee.

  423. Jamila Kanji says:

I always wear sunscreen! Every day in any season, regardless if the sun is out or not.

  424. Kate K says:

My hair is tame now, but I was rocking various shades of Pravana Vivids as balyage and am thinking of going back to violet/wild orchid. I still wear sunscreen face moisturizer in the winter because of snow glare and it’s good for the skin.

  425. Regina Reed says:

    I always double cleanse!

  426. Claudia says:

This Wednesday I’m going to pick up my Kat Von D contour palette and brush from someone US-based who did a custom purchase for me and has returned to Singapore for a while (KVD is shockingly not available over here) and I’m so excited! Also planning to do a local Sephora haul… in my list I have Guerlain Lingerie De Peau liquid foundation, NARS radiant creamy concealer and Fresh Soy Face Cleanser just to name a few. My wallet won’t be pleased!

  428. Fran says:

I feel self-conscious entering again, people, because ***I won*** a few weeks ago, and finally decided to treat myself to three of the new Urban Decay x Gwen Stefani lipsticks — Rock Steady, Firebird, and Wonderland — and am loving them!

But: I definitely wear sunscreen in winter. After having a melanoma removed a few years ago, I’m very conscientious about sunscreen. Dermatology nurses even wear it when they’re not even going outside, but just going to be sitting near a window — those UV rays come right through most kinds of glass!

And I double-cleanse at night, to get all that tenacious sunscreen off. In winter I use coconut oil or Josie Maran cleansing oil first. In summer I like Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm. Followed by First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser. In the morning I use CeraVe Moisturizing Cleanser to take off the night’s oils and skin-care products.

And I’m adventurous with my hair in some ways, but not in others. I’ve actually never colored it — it seems bold to me to wear its natural color, lol; my brown with streaks of white. And I like it either super-long or super-short, so, once I’ve grown it out, it’s usually a major life event (being on bedrest before my son was born, getting breast cancer) that brings on the super-short pixie cut. I did get a few inches cut off, to waist-length, recently, for more styling versatility, because it just tangled way too much when I wore it loose! That said, I style it in various braids, buns, and ponytails, so it looks different from day to day; I part it first on one side, then on the other (drives my stylist nuts when cutting!)

  429. Denise Robb says:

First of all I love your site! My favorite fancy drink is a green tea latte! Soo yummy! Thanks for the opportunity! xoxo Denise

  430. Amara Morgan says:

You’re talking to an LA girl born and raised. You have to wear sunscreen because we have no winter lol unless you count the occasional rain which you should always still wear sunscreen because the rays are even more intense when they pass through clouds.
Also bonus my favorite fancy coffee drink is a caramel macchiato. I only get them when I’m feeling the need for an extra boost aka Mondays aka today. Is it 5pm yet?
As always thank you for your generous giveaway and everything that you do.

I usually double cleanse, but I recently started using Garnier micellar water and I’ve been using it on its own.

  433. Lena says:

    I love caramel macchiato!

  434. Vidya says:

I’m not adventurous with my hair, but I wish I was! I prefer to spend time on my makeup instead of my hair, so it’s always left in a simple style.

  435. Monica L. says:

Zoya makes the best nail polish remover! It doesn’t smell too bad either.

  436. Candace says:

I wear sunscreen 365 days a year! Paula’s Choice always for my face!

    Thanks for the giveaway!
I’m currently loving dusty light blue nails, and I try to wear sunscreen and double cleanse everyday πŸ˜„

  438. Anna Huynh says:

I do not wear sunscreen in the winter. I’m actually really pale and always want to try to get tan so I rarely wear sunscreen unless it’s in my makeup :)!

  439. Lana says:

Karen, I know you love the NARS Velvet Matte Skin Tint SPF 30. Have you tried the Bare Escentuals Complextion Rescue Tinted Hydrating Gel Creme? It’s great stuff that really leaves your face glowing.

  440. Andrea Darst says:

I keep meaning to double cleanse at night before bed, but I’m usually so exhausted that I’m lucky if I take off the day with a wipe!

  441. Stephanie Z. says:

The only time I was super adventurous with my hair for a hair show a few years ago. They made my hair look like Rainbow-Brite threw up all over it. It was awesome but the maintenance on it was insane. I kept it for about a month before I decided it was time to return to the land of normal-ish hair. It’s been almost 2 years and it’s almost done growing out. I don’t regret it but I doubt I’ll do it again.

  442. jenny says:

    this is great! Thank you!!

  443. Sarah Green says:

I’m actually doing a friend’s hair and make-up tomorrow morning. I’m going to have to do a somewhat challenging braid, but just not sure which one.

I have longer hair and love braids. I need to watch more tutorials. I catch on pretty quick!

    Have an awesome February!

  454. Maria K says:

I recently fell in love with the Josie Maran Bare(bear?) Naked nail wipes. I was really dubious they would do much because they don’t even feel very wet or soaked with product, but they work! And they’re so portable

I’ve recently become obsessed with beauty oils!

  456. Yesenya says:

Hope you had a great baby shower

  457. Aarti says:

I have naturally curly hair, so though it looks adventurous and wild, it is not. I think the most adventurous I truly get is the rare occasions I try to straighten it!

  458. Tammy says:

The last time I went to the zoo was a few years ago. We went to The San Diego Zoo, me and my 2 teenagers. I felt the burn for DAYS! My daughter is in a wheelchair chair and there was so much to see, so much ground to cover, and I swear, it seemed like I was pushing her up Mt Everest! I actually lost weight on that vacay! 😊

  459. Thanuja says:

Although chai tea isn’t a coffee, it is my favourite!I double cleanse because it makes my face feel squeaky clean πŸ™‚

  467. Cynthia Richardson says:

I’m pretty adventurous with my hair. Right now I have a 2-toned pixie cut.

  468. Kayla G says:

I usually TRIPLE cleanse! First I take all of my makeup off with Purity by Philosophy, then use my Clarisonic with the cleanser that came with it, then end with Angels on Bare Skin from Lush!

  469. Susan C. says:

I love a good sunscreen year-round. During the summer I use Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid SPF 70, which is almost water-like in texture so goes well under makeup. Just this winter, I’ve discovered Avon Anew Clinical Skinvincible SPF 50 — it was on sale (yay!), has a light, slightly creamy texture, and also goes well under foundation. I’m paler than pale, so an SPF 30 is the minimum suggested by my dermatologist. After a few (thankfully minor) scares with skin cancer, I take her advice very seriously.

On another note, please share that mint mani!

  470. Linda says:

I sort of double cleanse. I’ll run a cotton pad of micellar water over my face at the end of the day to remove makeup, and then when I get ready to go to bed, I do another pass with a new cotton pad and micellar water.

  471. Tosha H says:

Nope, no sunscreen in winter (or at all, actually)

  472. Paula says:

I never wear sunscreen-unless it accidentally ends up in another product I am using!

  473. Kimmy Ripley says:

I would love this so much! I have my eye on some Urban Decay and Kat Von D.
