$50 Sephora e-gift card giveaway

Star Wars.

Just gettin’ that out there. πŸ™‚ I felt like I should start this with those words because — my gosh! — it’s Star Wars erryting right now. El Hub is so excited. The new movie is all he’s been talking about for days. He’s like a little kid. We have tickets to see it this afternoon, and I have to admit…I’m pretty excited about it too! I don’t really follow the whole Star Wars mythos, but I have watched all of the movies. I hope this one’s good.

Other that that, shopping. I still have a few things to get, so I’m heading to the mall in a little while this morning.

Tabs says “meow,” by the way. He just went outside for his morning walk, and it rained here last night, so he got to investigate some very interesting puddles, as well as wet grass, which made his tum damp, and he’s not sure how to feel about that… He’s still on the fence about it, but he’s leaning toward “not good.”

How are you doing, my friend? Good, I hope. Will you be getting any days off for the holiday? I’ve had to work on a few Christmases before. It can be a bummer, but I hope you have some people working with you for the camaraderie.

I hope you have a great weekend, whatever you’re doing. Thank you for stopping by…and may the force be with you (I couldn’t resist). πŸ™‚

I have a bar of Irish Spring soap. It’s my favorite because it’s so refreshing and clean. I’m not a fan of sweet/sugary beauty products so I even use Irish Spring deodorant.

Hi!! My favorite brown eyeshadow was Buck by Urban Decay, but then my gf gave me the MAC Warm Neutrals palette as a birthday gift and I’m in love with Brule!! It’s the perfect shade for my skin color, I use it with every look!! Saddle by MAC also deserves to be mentioned.. I love warm browns!!

  4. Agata says:

I have never been a Star Wars person but my bf is and he is making me watch all the movies before we go to see the new. I just watched Episode 5 last night and it was really good.

I still need to complete my Christmas shopping…My card got compromised and I am waiting for a new one, which makes everything more difficult.

I have Christmas off this year but I do have to work on Christmas Eve.

  16. Jen says:

My favorite brown eyeshadow is a duochrome brown loose pigment called Sookie from the indie brand Virus Insanity! It’s a soft gold that’s almost a rose gold in the right light with silvery greenish iridescence and gold and silver glitter.

    Happy Saturday Karen,

Today I finally assemble the Christmas tree. I’ve been so busy and all the hustle and bustle of the holidays running together I just haven’t had time to get my tree in order. Plus the house wont be as festive this year , but that’s definitely not the reason for the season.

How would you like to spend your day today if you had no chores, deadlines or responsibilities?

At a beach house enjoying the smell of the ocean and sipping mimosas.

    Do you snore?

When I’m really sleepy I do.

Is there a bar of soap in your shower, or is everything in a bottle?

Yes I keep some bottled soaps and a bar of soap in my shower.

    What’s your favorite brown eyeshadow?

It’s this brown shadow that comes in an old Wet N’ Wild trio. I loved it so much I had to scale Amazon and Ebay for them because they no longer sell that trio. Now I have like 4 back ups just so I don’t run out.

Which would you rather have: a bathroom remodel or a kitchen remodel?

Kitchen first , but I’d really like them both done.

  66. Hannah says:

If I had a day to myself, it would be spent drinking a peppermint mocha by the fire with tons of Christmas movies!

  67. Paol Trenny says:

I hope you’re well this happy caturday!

  70. Rosemary says:

Fav brown eyeshadow: can’t pick just one! Tom Ford Nude Dip is my very, very favorite palette, so the brown in that one. On the lower end of the $ spectrum, I love the browns in the Tartette palette, and there’s a Loreal palette called Cupa Joe that has some nice matte browns. πŸ™‚

  71. JUVY says:

Karen, I noticed that you wear your rings in the order that you received them. That’s the same way I want to do mine when my guys finally give them to me lol. I never really knew why we change up the order when we get married.

    I do not snore.

  84. Erin says:

As usual I’ll try to answer them all!

How would you like to spend your day today if you had no chores, deadlines or responsibilities?

Unfortunately, it’s all about money right now. I’d like to do many things but I don’t have the cash! Poor Erin, the current me, is going to spend some time reading while burning a candle. There might be some tea in there. Already played with my pup and ran errands!

    Do you snore?

Sometimes. I have bad allergies and if I’m on my back I will.

Is there a bar of soap in your shower, or is everything in a bottle?

    Bottle everything!

Shh! You didn’t hear it from me, but __________.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

    What’s your favorite brown eyeshadow?

    NARS Lhasa!

Which would you rather have: a bathroom remodel or a kitchen remodel?

Since I’m in a rental I really can’t have either! The kitchen is not great but it’s serviceable. Not having any counter space in the bathroom or a tub is making me a bit cray. So let’s go with bathroom if we’re dreaming!

  112. Sherry says:

Ok, we mostly have everything in bottles, but there is a box of Irish Spring soap on the bathroom shelf. That would be my husband’s. He loves Irish Spring for some reason. I haven’t used bar soap in over 30 years. I love shower gels!! On an interesting note, I ordered a huge bottle of Magno Bath Gel from Amazon. It’s made in Spain and people seem to really love it. Unfortunately, the seller ran out of it, so I won’t be getting it. Maybe I can get a yummy Philosophy body wash if I win a gift card from Sephora. LOL!! Happy Holidays Karen!! He’s planning on wearing his new Kylo Ren T-shirt. πŸ˜€ Heck, I’ll probably wear one of my CoverGirl Star Wars collection lipsticks, or maybe a lipstick from Makeup Revolution’s Far Away Galaxy Collection (Sky-walker is pretty cool).

My house was built in the mid-70s, and the bathrooms are tiny, so I would definitely go for a bathroom remodel. Our kitchen is actually pretty big considering the time period in which it was built. It has a ton of cabinets, which I love. The original owner must have been into cooking.

These next two weeks are short work weeks for me because I get the 24 and 25 off, I’m taking 12/31 for my yearly mammogram and then I also get 1/1/16 off. I’m VERY thankful for the short work weeks because I was off most of this last week with a strep throat infection and need to pull the throttle back or I’ll relapse

  153. Tracy Robertson says:

I don’t know if it’s my coloring, or if I just don’t know how to do it right but I haven’t found a brown eye shadow that I feel like I look nice with. I wear purple eye shadow (blame the 80’s but I still love it and it makes my hazel eyes look more green). I love gold eye shadow and grey eye shadow. The last time I tried a brown eye shadow everyone kept asking me if I was “tired” all day long, LOL!

K & T – I love the ’70s! In Season 2 of the awesome tv show Fargo, Kirstin Dunst’s character wears a pair of super high waisted bell bottoms that I would kill for! Also, I had a serious convo @ work this week about whether blue eye shadow should come back in fashion. Of course I was on the pro side. Well, have a great week shaking your groove thangs & if you get in trouble, blame it on the boogie!

  159. Kathy Smith-Woodcock says:

I would love to have my bathroom remodelled. If only I had the $ it would be done, well someday.

  160. Michaela says:

Hi Karen I’d love to have a beautiful bathroom that can be my haven to decompress after a long day’s work. I’d have a Japanese style bathroom which I had an opportunity to use when visiting a friend in Japan-a padded toilet seat that you can heat up in the winter and with different sprays (ahem for you-know-what) and a deep tub that you can relax in after you rinse in a separate shower area. Very ulitarian but also zen relaxation…ahhh.

If I had to pick forever between bar soap and liquid, I would pick bar, but actually I have both. I like the liquid for hand soap, especially.

Also I just got Sephora VIB status for the first time, can you believe that? (It means I spent too much money.)

  206. Tracey says:

    Happy Holidays!

  207. bridget says:

I can’t wait to see the star wars movie, either.

I currently have a bar of coconut soap from Thailand in my shower. I go back and forth on the whole soap/ shower gel thing.

  208. Gina B. says:

    Hi Karen,

Hope you and baby girl are all geared up for the holiday! I have to work on Christmas eve for a little while – and it’s going to make everyone have to wait on me to celebrate. On a more sad note, I just lost my Mom a few days ago — so in many ways I’m not really in the mood to do or go anywhere. She was in a nursing home, and had dementia – but we didn’t know that she was near death. So it’s put a sad place in my holidays. The only thing that I feel good about is that she passed peacefully. She is with my Dad now. This is good.
Have a beautiful Christmas Karen, cherish your family — tell them that you love them often. Life is uncertain at best……<3

  209. Mary Ellen says:

Cant wait to watch Star Wars after New Years, got my tickets! I dont like crowds so I never watch a movie opening weekend.

  210. Liz says:

If I didn’t have to do a dozen things today, I would not leave the house. I’d spend the entire day watching Hallmark Christmas movies and reading magazines.

  211. Karleena says:

I would definitely have to choose the bathroom remodel!

  212. Danyelle H says:

I’d rather have a kitchen remodel (ours is in desperate need and is in the works) but I feel like while a pretty bathroom is nice I spend more time with family and friends in the kitchen and it’s important to have a functioning one that’s easy on the eyes

  213. Hilary says:

I just purchased my first NARS product last night – Silk Road. I’m obsessed!

  214. Alicee says:

If I had a day off without having a ton of other tasks lined up…. I would definitely chill out on the couch with the dogs and alternate between Hulu and a good ‘ol Agatha Christie book!!!!

  215. Fran says:

I really can’t choose between my two favorite brown eyeshadows — ME-554 Gunmetal (metallic) and I-628 Reptile (iridescent), both by Make Up For Ever.

I have a question for you, Karen. Everyone talks about using cream eyeshadow when they want to do an easy eye look, but for me it seems anything but easy, unless I want a sheer one-color wash. When I try to apply it with any opacity and intensity, it creases on my oily, hooded lids. And getting the colors to blend together smoothly despite the wrinkly loose skin up above my eyes is like, forget it. And I’m talking about good quality eye shadow sticks from Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, by Terry, and Kiko (Kiko actually creases the least). Even if I use the NARS eye shadow primer first, I still get creasing unless I set with powder eyeshadow, which kind of defeats my purpose of getting out the door quickly, since I tend to make a mess whenever I use powder shadow. I usually blend cream shadows with dense synthetic brushes from Make Up For Ever, but sometimes with my fingers — makes no difference. Is it my technique, or just something about my eyelids? Do I have to settle for sheer on the days I want to use cream shadows to get out the door more quickly? (When I use powder eyeshadow, I always make a mess, so I always do my eyeshadow first, then clean up and do the rest of my face, but that adds a couple of minutes to my routine.)

I still love cream shadows as a base for powder shadows (except for the ones that are super-creasy on me), but I just can’t seem to get a great look with them used alone.

  216. Lydia says:

I would like to spend my day watching Netflix and eating pizza lol.

  217. Karenine says:

I have a bar of soap and bottles combined – everything pink!

  218. Lisa Foster says:

If I had nothing to do today I’d probably spend the day in bed, I’m feeling a little under the weather.

  219. Larissa says:

Hi Karen! πŸ™‚ My fave brown eyeshadow is by Anastasia Beverly Hills. It is from the self made palette and called Hot Chocolate

  220. Tatiana says:

Right now, I’d rather have a kitchen remodel, but only if it happened in a blink of an eye. I don’t really want to have to live through the dust of the deconstruction and rebuild. And I’d like it not to cost too much either. Both of which are extremely unlikely to happen, especially with the outrageous construction costs in the bay area.

  221. Jennifer says:

I would love a bathroom remodel. Our master bath is so tiny- there is no room for my husband and I to have our own space.

  222. Erica says:

Today for me pretty much is a free day. There’s nothing I “have” to do, chores can wait til tomorrow lol. So I’m spending it the way I want. The kids are wrapping their gifts to each other, after that is making gingerbread and sugar cookies and later tonight we’re driving out to see a Christmas light display. Sounds pretty perfect to me! πŸ™‚

  223. jen c says:

  224. I worked on sending out my resume and cover letter for a job this morning, which is not something I really wanted to do today (but the chance of a new challenge is totally exciting)! I would have rather been at the spa getting a much needed facial and massage.

  226. Terri says:

Right now, everything in my shower is in bottles. That said, I like using bar soap, especially when I’ve splurged on soap from someplace like Lush.

  227. Melly says:

If I had nothing to do all day, I would sit with my Netflix queue and catch up.

  228. Rina says:

  230. Roz says:

  231. Amber says:

  232. Sandy says:

Hi Karen. I always have a bar of soap or two in the shower along with some fruity smelling body wash. A girl’s gotta have choices! Also my favorite brown eyeshadow is Barcelona Beach from Makeup Geek although I have many. That one is the perfect matte medium brown eyeshadow more on the neutral side, not too dark and perfect for the crease. I love that shade. What about you?

  237. Kimm says:

It’s Star Wars week! It’s Star Wars week! I waited in line overnight back in the early 2000’s to see the first one only to be deeply disappointed but as big of a fan as I am, I still haven’t seen it! And it’s been out two and a half days!!! I had tickets in my cart ready to purchase the day you could buy them and I stopped. It’s sad to say how scared I am to go to anything big like that anymore. Afraid that some guy, dressed as Darth Vadar or Kylo Ren, would come in and shoot everyone. It may sound paranoid and it may sound crazy and it may be the pregnancy paranoia but that’s why I didn’t go on opening night. And we had a wedding last night. Going to try to go tonight. I went to school Friday and all of my students (they all thought I saw it because I’m obsessed) and they started blurting out the “can you believe so and so did such and such!” And now I know everything!!! But I still CANNOT WAIT to see it. I told my husband that if we done see it tonight that I’m going by myself while he’s at work this week. I can’t wait! Merry almost Christmas!

  241. Johnna Quick Owens says:

Everything in my shower is in a bottle, I love some of the scents of the bar soaps but they get so nasty messy when they are wet and left that way. LOL And I hate that waste, so I opt for shower gels. When the bottle seems empty, I can add water and use it for a bubble bath and get every last drop. Waste not want not!

You’re making me choose between a bathroom and a kitchen remodel? But that’s impossible! Haha, I’d probably take a kitchen remodel over a bathroom one. I like to cook and I’d like an open kitchen.

On the other hand, I love taking long, soak-till-I’m-all-pruny baths, so a bathroom remodel sounds nice too!

  255. gabriela says:

Definitely a kitchen remodel. Not only because mine desperately needs one haha but also because according to feng shui, the kitchen is the most important part of the house so it needs more attention. Happy holidays, Karen!! xoxo

Do you snore? I don’t think so.

Is there a bar of soap in your shower, or is everything in a bottle? Yes. I did some traveling last year and found liquids and TSA irritating. So I’ve been looking into solids and started with bar soap–which is difficult bc most make my skin itch. I like Cerave’s but am not a fan of the scent (but it doesn’t linger so I might repurchase). Cetaphil’s scent just makes me gag. Going to try Vanicream’s next.

Which would you rather have: a bathroom remodel or a kitchen remodel? Bathroom. Our kitchen doesn’t need much work

Just spending quality relaxing time with my girls.

My favorite brown eyeshadow…I think it would have to be Urban Decay’s Smog. It’s so beautiful and has so much depth. You can wear it softly smudged as a liner for an everyday look or smoked out all over the lid for tons of drama, and the shimmer keeps it from looking flat.

Me and my Mr just recently bought a house in London. It was such a struggle as it was difficult enough to even find/ get one. But I absolutely love it and it’s our dream house. There was not a lot of work we had to do to the house at all as the previous owners took very good care of the house. If we have some spare money, I do want the kitchen and bathroom redone though.
