Happy Friday, ladies. Whew! This one couldn’t have come soon enough for me. How about you? How was your week?
I just realized the date and thought I’d start the morning with a quick roundup of January posts. These were some of my favorites (can’t forget Tabs) of the month.
MAC Brunette Blonde Redhead Eyeshadow, Lipstick, Lipglass and Mineralize Skinfinish Swatches
“I. DON’T. CARE that it’s strange. I can’t help that my favorite set in MAC’s new Brunette Blonde Redhead collection is Redhead. Makeup rules were meant to be broken, right? Here are some MAC Brunette Blonde Redhead swatches, hot and fresh out the kitchen (sorry, I’ve been listening to R. Kelly all day).”
How to Apply Eyeliner: Soft Lines with Kohl Pencils
“There are so many ways to apply eyeliner, and depending on the look I’m going for I tend to switch things up. One of my favorite eyeliner techniques is to use a kohl liner for a soft, diffused lower lash line. Softly lining the bottom lash line without the top (or vice versa) still draws attention to the eye but doesn’t look too harsh or unnatural. It’s also really easy to do (yay!) and kinda fun because it involves connecting the dots.”
Make Up For Ever Smoky Lash Mascara Gives Chanel Exceptionnel a Run for Its Money
“Until today, *no other* mascara came close to my beloved Chanel Exceptionnel ($30) for delivering the super thick and long, ultra-defined drag queen lashes that I crave. Today, everything changed. Make Up For Ever’s Smoky Lash mascara ($22) stole Exceptionnel’s spot to become my new number one. It similarly thickens, lengthens and separates lashes — and for eight dollars less, holla!”
Lancome Pink Irreverence Spring 2009 Collection: Downtown Pink = Hotness
“Lancome chose to do something a little bolder than usual for a spring release. If Chanel’s Bohemian Fantasy and Dior’s Lady Dior collections were meant for sundresses and sandals, then Pink Irreverence was made for little black dresses and four-inch, black patent leather stilettos. The collection features a variety of pinks ranging from ultra bright to nude, and a couple of surprise black products thrown in for good measure.”
Beginners MAC Makeup Brushes
“The clouds parted, angels sang, and there they were — the four makeup brushes that rocked my world. Here’s a short video on the MAC makeup brushes I couldn’t live without.”
Chanel Vendetta Nail Polish: Midnight Purple Fantasy
“One of two new nail polish shades released for spring 2009, Vendetta’s shimmery midnight purple shines with flecks of red and blue micro-gltter. Imagine the darkest purple — nay, almost black calligraphy ink — and that’s Vendetta. I. LOVE. IT.”
Blush for Beginners
“Hi, ladies! How’s your day been? Mine started out rough because I woke up sleepy, but things have steadily improved (coffee = joy). Here’s another attempt at a video. This one’s about blush, and I apologize because I let Tabs do the editing. I think he got a little carried away.”
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. Happy Birthday to my man Christian Bale! Homeboy turns 35 today. 🙂

Hi Karen B.,
It’s been good! 🙂 Right now I’m drinking coffee and getting ready!
How are you?

I love Christian Bale, but I have to admit Jason Statham runs a very close second. I loved Bale in American Psycho, that movie is a classic!!
How are things, Karen? Any fun plans for this weekend? =)
I’m wearing Coralista today while I drink my coffee and get ready for work and school. I absolutely adore this blush! Do you think you could recommend a good concealers for my dry, patchy skin? However, the issue might be that I just need a better exfoliator to remedy my dry flakey areas.
Take care! =)

Mmmm..Christian Bale comming out of a cake. Oddly enough, the star I would most like to pop out of a giant cake is Alice Cooper.

Hi Lesley,
Jason Statham’s pretty hawt. There’s something about him that reminds me about my other homeboy, Detective Stabler from Law and Order: SVU!
Right now I’m just glad it’s Friday. I don’t have class today so I’m looking forward to blogging and running some errands (I have about a jillion loads of laundry to do… fun!). As for weekend plans, right now I plan on working out (yay) and watching a few movies. I am hoping I can drag El Hub to go watch Rachel Getting Married with me. How ’bout you? Got any plans yet?
I am so glad that you like Coralista! It’s such a lovely color, huh? I really would love a matching gloss or lipstick!
Hmm, sounds like you’ll need a concealer that won’t more for nuthin’. MAC makes a great one called Studio Finish. It’s very pigmented and a little tricky to work with but I like it. I like to use it in my under eye area, but you can use it on other parts of your face, too. Here’s a quick tutorial to give you an idea: MAC
Studio Finish Concealer Tutorial.
If you’re looking for an exfoliator I have a few faves… I have combo dry/acne-prone skin, so I like Clean and Clear In Shower Facial. Clinique also makes a toner that’s good, too: Clinique Mild Clarifying Lotion.
Karen says
Hi Tekoa,
Hmm… for some reason that works for me, too.
Did you know that Alice Cooper is from Arizona? For some reason I found this very shocking.

Tekoa is right, Christian Bale coming out of a cake is yummy! And thanks again for the video on the beginners MAC makeup brushes. I’m absolutely in love with my MAC 217 brush now!

Karen-
Your vids are the shiz g-friend! I’m glad that you explained why you hold your brushes the way that you do during The Sweep Blush Technique video. I am guilty of holding mine towards the bristles but am changing that up and noticing a difference. AWESOME! Keep up the good work! In the latest issue of Nylon Magazine they did a little photoshoot with the MAC Hello Kitty. It’s way cute cuz she’s holding a lipstick and has a lipstick mouth. Way cute huh? Have you seen the MAC Hello Kitty collection yet? Are you getting anything? I def want an eyeshadow set and a BP!

Wai, wai, wai, wai, wait. Christian Bale’s birthday is the day before mine? Why don’t I know about this? I loved him as Howl’s voice in Howl’s Moving Castle and the voice of Thomas in Pocahontas (granted, the only two movies of his I’ve seen).

Loved Christian Bale in American Psycho and Dark Knight.
But not after he ripped one of the crew members on the set of his movie Terminator: Salvation. Literally dropped the f-bomb 37 times in 3 minutes and 45 seconds, demands the director of photography be fired for walking on the set and at one point has to be restrained from attacking the man.
Not professional. I don’t care how good of an actor you are (or how good looking). You shouldn’t treat people that way AT ALL.
