Hmm… Well, lately I’ve been enamored with MAC Sumptuous Olive, so that’s my pick! It’s a khaki with golden shimmer, and I really like what it does for brown eyes. I also really love that I don’t have to use very much of it, and the little bit I do use requires hardly any blending at all (can I get some lazy girl love? LOL!). Plus, I think it goes great with the darker lipsticks that we see a lot in fall.
If you could only wear one eyeshadow for the next month, which one would you choose and why?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Oooh, I’ve been thinking about getting this shade for awhile. 🙂 I’ll have to test it out next time I hit the MAC counter. I’m pretty fair so some green shadows make me look sick. :-/
Rads says
Khaki for me too…Vert Khaki from Chanel 😀
Jen says
Urban Decay Sin; because it’s a great everyday neutral and has plenty of shine to work for night as well.
Courtney says
I agee, UD Sin is awesome
BettyS says
Same for me; I use it as a luminizer, too.
Linnea says
Thirded? 🙂 Love this shade, really goes well with my blue eyes.
anna says
That shade looks great on you. For me: MAC Moth Brown. <3
EH says
Benefit velvet eyeshadow in Rich Beach, because it applies like a dream and gives me that “I-wake-up-looking-this-great” look. <3
Anna says
Ooooh I love me some Sumptuous Olive… One of my first MAC shadows. But I’ve gotta give this one to Woodwinked – it’s a little more versatile for me.
Kate says
I’d definitely have to go with MAC all that glitters 🙂 I’m fairly pale with blue eyes and all that glitters is the perfect subtle gold that helps my eyes really stand out. Pretty sure I have gone an entire month wearing it every day haha!
Claud says
Same here. I discovered All that glitters not too long ago and it changed my world! 😉
Maddy says
I’ve actually been wearing the same eyeshadow color (for day-to-day makeup) for about 4 1/2 years! I wear bareMinerals Eyecolor in Cupcake. It’s a very pretty, sheer, light champagne pink with a little bit of glow to it. I love it 🙂
Lucie says
Hmmm I’d say NARS etrusque or chanel illusion d’ombre epatant. Love metallics!

Joanne says
I would pick the taupe side of the Nars Grand Palais duo from the Fall collection. At some point in the month I would probably give in and use the mauve side to define my crease though, hahaha. Although the mauve side doesn’t work for a lot of it looks strangely natural on my NC30/ Chanel B40 skin and turns out to be the most natural shadow for enlarging my small Asian eyes. Gawd, I loooooovveeee the duo so much, haha.
Jennifer says
I love this duo too! And as far as versatility, i don’t think it’s half bad! I’m NW 15 (maybe closer to a 10) and it is lovely with my brown eyes! (or at least I flatter myself to think it is)
Rae says
Absolutely MAC Big Bounce Shadow in Sizzlin’ Diva. It’s so easy to put a light wash on for work or to vamp it up and do a gorgeous bronze cat eye. Since my 21st falls into the next month I need something glam!
LeenzieM says
Orange by MAC. Love it to death. <3
Quinctia says
Probably UD Cream shadow in Mushroom. It’s a nice taupe with some duochrome to it, and then if I got bored, I could add some colored liner to my lower lash line without breaking the “one eyeshadow” rule. 😀
Inday says
MAC Paint Pot in Genuine Treasure – adds a beautiful sheer sparkle for day but makes a stunning smoky eye for night, and it goes with all my lippies, from nude to fuchsia to fall shades of russet and brick.
Vonvon says
Benefit Creaseless Cream shadow in R.S.V.P.
Easy to apply and blend with fingers, either on the lids only or light wash of color all the way up to the brow. Versatile! Quick eye makeup especially when rushing to work.
aubrie soetaert says
I think I’d choose Benefits creaseless cream eyeshadow in Birthday Suit!
Lups says
For me it would be Dangerous Cuvee paint pot. This is the closest I have at the moment, to all the glittery-creamy eyeshadows released (I’m looking at you Chanel). It is a nice buildable color with a decent amount of fine glitter.
Lauren says
Urban Decay Half Baked, it’s very versatile. I can do a sheer wash of it, or apply it more intensely, or do a crazy cat eye with it like I did today.
Britany B. says
Amber lights – M.A.C.
Heidi says
I’m always reaching for my MAC Mega Metal in Prance. Such a great shimmery wash to brighten up the eye area.
April says
I’m into Humid by MAC.
Rita says
I don’t usually do (all) matte looks, but this time I’d go for Mac Outre (the shade I was looking for a long time – wish it was a frost!) and then rock the lips!
izzie says
I would have to keep Gorgeous Gold by MAC. I can do a light dusting with a fluffy brush for a bright-eyed look or pack it on for a super shimmer. I adore that color. Though Woodwinked and Amber Lights are tied for second. =0)
Tessa says
Sumptuous olive was the first to pop into my head but Trax is also a lazy day-colour for me, when paired with a little blacktrack.
Funny how sumptuous olive works so well for both of us while we don’t look alike! (i am fair, with blonde hair and also green eyes)
marisol says
Damn this is like Sophie’s choice. I think it would be Mac’s Deckchair pigment.
m says
LOLz 😀
Jenn says
MAC “Tempting” e/s for sure!!!
Amanda says
Urban Decay- Half Baked! It looks great on EVERYONE! (=
Britany B. says
I second that.
Jaymie says
Hmmm…that’s a tough question! I think it would be Urban Decay’s Smog. I love how sultry it makes my eyes look!
Shannon says
Stila’s Kitten. Ol’ reliable, that one.
teigh says
theBalm’s Kissy Kissy from the Cast Your Shadow palette
kalcedon says
the rose gold color from the Clinique Colour Surge eyshadow quad in Spicy :).
bubbles says
I would go for Bobbi Brown Hot Stone. Love ~~
Jen says
Ohhhh, I like this one too. But my favorite in this palette is Sandy Rose Metallic! Do you like this one, too?
Advah says
Either Stila’s Cloud or Bobbi Brown’s (cream) Chrome Patina. They really make my eyes pop and are enough with a bit of mascara!
Inga says
MAC Jest… my first eyeshadow from MAC years ago when I was about 17. I still love it!
Kim says
I’m going to go with the orange from Givenchy’s Candide Garden because I really like it, it’s pretty flattering with my green eyes and, heck, it’s October so you’re got to rock some orange, right?? 🙂 It’s also a good month to rock some pink, I know. It was sort of a tough decision. But I actually thought this AM while getting ready “which eyeshadow would I wear today, if I wasn’t too lazy to skip the eyeshadow?”. Givenchy was the winner. 🙂
Aurora says
Mac Grain !
Nanethiel says
L.A Girl Mineral eyeshadow in Desert (pearl desert brown) or Catrice Absolut Mono in Charlie brown (matt medium brown) =) depends on the season =)
Bertha says
Probably MAC Ricepaper!
Mala says
Mac pigment “Melon”
artemis says
a dark silver one
Steph says
Oh goodness…I typically wear Urban Decay Half Baked pretty much every day for work and change up the colors in my crease and outer corners depending on my mood, but if I could only use ONE eyeshadow color…I would have to go with MAC satin taupe. I have fair skin and green eyes, and I love how it makes my eye color pop. Also, I can put it on a little heavier on the outer corners of my eyelids and it looks like i’m wearing more than just one shade. It’s perfect to go from day to night!
Ange says
MAC Carbon! Black goes with anything : D
I can wet it and use as eyeliner or blend it out and do a smoky eye. I can also spice it up with different lip colors!
Carmela says
Tricky! I might have to go with Smashbox in 35mm. I know, strange choice as it’s not very versatile and won’t definitely take me from day to night. BUT I do like to look as if I’m not wearing any makeup so this gives me enough definition for my needs. I’d normally smoke it out a bit with some black shadow for a night time look.
Great question! Really made me think. 🙂 Happy Friday, Karen!
Shannon says
Perish the thought of one eyeshadow!!!!!LOL But, If I had to, it would be Laura Mercier Topaz.
Vanessa says
Patina from MAC 🙂 Mine is already crumbled to bits though, so I don’t even think I have enough left for one months supply lol
Fieran says
MAC’s Romp – it’s great for an allover wash of color followed with any colored eyeliner.
Jenn says
Urban Decay Toasted, so neutral it matches everything.
Chris25 says
Probably NYC Chrome pigment in Sunshine. It’s not neutral brown, gold or peach, which is surprising. I always reach for neutrals. It’s this dark rose/berry color, and it’s so sparkly it instantly perks up my eyes and gives my lids a nice glow.
Melitina says
I just bought my first ever MAC shadow – Aquadisiac – e few days ago and I am resisting the urge to wear it everyday. Bright turquoise in the middle of october is kind of off-season. But will fly to the Carribean at the end of the month so hello again Aquadisiac 😀 !!!
Taylor says
I have so many that I love but I gotta say Urban Decay Toasted e/s. Love it!!!
Sylvie says
MAC Cinderfella mineralized eyeshadow! Smokey eye everyday!
Megan says
I also love UD sin and toasted but right now I would have to go with Chanel fauve. That with some mascara is all I need. Love the blog, Karen! I discovered over the summer. Not so sure my wallet loves it…You convince me I need so many pretty things!
NeenaJ says
Probably MAC Satin Taupe. My second choice would be Chanel Beige Lame, but I don’t have it in my hands, yet!
Katrina says
Chanel, Emerville. The one in the little pot. It is lazy-girl fantastic!
Noga says
Satin Taupe! Though Woodwined is a close second.
I gotta remember to check out Sumptuous Olive next time I”m at the Mac store…
Beverly says
MAC Mulch, with a bit of Genuine Treasure in the outer corners…
Katie says
My current fave is Urban Decay “Flow” from the 15th Anniversary Palette! It makes my green eyes pop and it doesn’t require much blending whatsoever (lazy girl love!! :P) I love simple colors that really make a difference.. make up is about enhancing your natural beauty, not covering it 😉 Have a great day Karen!
aradhana says
Play on plums mineralized shadow…I think I actually did wear it for a month! Two shades in one…not really cheating is it? 😉
Swatch And Learn says
I used to say that it was the Marcelle Wet or Dry Eyeshadow in Cabaret (this awesome slightly shimmery gray that can look dark gray, light gray, or bluish), but lately, I’ve been falling in love with browns (in general). So now I’d choose the Marcelle Wet or Dry Eyeshadow in Choco Chic. It’s softer, but can be built up for drama.
court says
that would be MAC’s paintpot in bare study. love it because it gives my eyes a bit of a shimmer and I can wear colorful eyeliners with it and make everyday’s look different!
Christy says
I have been really reaching for MAC Creamy Bisque lately 🙂
Glosslizard says
I’m loving the effortless neutral look I get with Burberry eyeshadow in Rosewood and I could do that for a whole month, but I’d have to reserve the right to switch up my liners! 😀
sweeks1980 says
Benefit’s Birthday Suit is my go-to shadow for everyday. A light application is perfect for work/day, and I could see a slightly heavier layer could work for evening.
amy says
I would wear MAC Paints in Baboom because it is warm and golden without being too shimmery. The perfect nude for me.
JenJ says
Hmmmm. Right now I’d say Wet n’ Wild’s Nutty. I’ve had it for a while but just started wearing ti recently.
Jen says
Hey, me too! In fact, I wore it yesterday after neglecting it for like, a month. It’s a great color, and the price…!
Julianne says
Too Faced- Pure Bronze, soo soo pretty!
Cherie C says
Ohhh MAC’s Naked Lunch 🙂
m says
That would have to be either my Maybelline Expert Wear in Golden Halo or my Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Custom Bronzer/Blush/Eye Shadow in Sunset Strip that I use just as an eye shadow. They’re both pretty yet neutral, everyday gold colors that I was addicted to all summer and STILL even though it’s already autumn (: Some people have told me they resemble MAC Woodwinked, so they might make pretty good dupes. I couldn’t honestly vouch for that myself bec I’ve never tried Woodwinked, so I’m not really sure how accurate that is but a lot of people tell me that when I wear ’em.
Betty says
It would have to be…MAC’s Satin Taupe. I could easily do my everyday smokey eye with just this on the outer half of my lids. It’s def a staple eyeshadow in my makeup routine.
melissa says
mac rubenesque paint pot or mac twinks
snoopysteph says
Chanel Fauve!
Marian says
I’d choose Bare Escentuals Prime Time Brightening Eyelid Primer. It leaves a natural looking sheen to my lids and looks great alone with some black liner and mascara. It also lasts all day long with no creasing.
Nina says
MAC’s Expensive Pink. omg. love.
Sharon says
Chanel Safari, my favorite taupe.
Stephanie says
MAC milk (LE pigment from Hello Kitty collection). It goes with everything, I love it,
Kim says
Jouer- Cashmere
Kim says
Jouer- Caviar. Or Urban Decay’s Gunmetal
smeegal9 says
I love sumptuos olive, but I look horrible if I don’t put eyeliner on with it.
I would have to say my fave would be Le Metier de Beaute Corinthian!
Jen says
Bobbi Brown’s Sandy Rose Metallic eye shadow, in the LE Sand Tortoise Shell Eye Palette. Really like this one. I should compare it to MAC Satin Taupe – they might be close.
Sara says
Nope, no way. I can’t pick. Take away my internet, my coffee, my car, but do NOT take away my shadows. I could never choose just one! lol
Jax says
Mac’s Taupe. I fell in love with it… was so worth it!
denise says
Urban decay Half baked, wakes up my brown eyes
Audri says
macs texture & urban decays toasted… ugh then again i can’t choose its soo hard!
Mariana N says
Chanel’s Fauve OR Nars Ashes to ashes. cause they’re awesome yeah
Karen says
MAC Jest. In fact I just got a new one today.
Audrey says
Too Faced “Petal to the Metal” (aka Labelwhore and MAC Club)! You can do a sheer warm wash, a beautiful smokey eye, or over a brown eyeliner makes it a crazy teal eyeliner!
Sharon says
MAC Vex. I like to use it as a sheer wash on days when I’m running late.
Ditte Karolussen says
Shu Uemura metallic brown, because it’s so versatile – I can use almost any color liner with it and it lasts a long time too.
Erin says
Woodwinked or Benefit Creaseless Cream in Birthday Suit
