I LOVE THEM! I like that they don’t hurt my hair OR my head, LOL! Because you know how sometimes when you put your ponytail up and you get a headache? That happens to me all the time, EXCEPT WHEN I WEAR SCRUNCHIES.
They also don’t leave that weird bend in my hair… You know what I’m talking about — that dent you get in the crown from a ponytail.
I’ve been thinking about them lately because I was looking around the Urban Outfitters website, and they’ve got a TON of scrunchies on there for sale.
Like, what the hell, dude? I need to crawl out from under my rock, because I had no idea it became socially acceptable for hip youngsters to don scrunchies again.
Free People even has sequin scrunchies!
Anywho, I’ve been wearing them for years, and it’s funny, but you know you’ve hit a certain point in your life when you’ve lived through trends that were totally in style, then fell out of style, and are now back in style again.
How do you feel about scrunchies? They seem to be one of those things that people either love or loathe.
#TEAMSCRUNCHIE! 🙂

Wish I had one now! I had so many scrunchies and kept losing them. I buy them a few times during the year. the weather today is so yucky and I needed to put my hair up. I only had one of those claw barrette thingies, but they hurt my head and I can’t lean back. Going to stop by Walgreens on the way home to pick up a bunch or maybe stop into Urban Oufitters in town.
By the way, I feel that way about leggings. They were popular in the 90’s and then disappeared for some time. Here we are again!

I wore them the first time around, but like many other things that keep coming back I can’t really get on board with them now. I always feel like I play dress up as my 11 year old self. Same goes for dungarees.

I’m totally #TeamScrunchie! They don’t leave a bend, they don’t give me tangles, and they don’t hurt my head. Somewhere I have a picture of my 14 year old freshmen self with my hair in a scrunchie, I need to find that picture.

I got a laugh out of this because I adore scrunchies. I wore them the first time around and usually avoid repeating trends, but I have waist length hair and find scrunchies are the fastest, easiest, and gentlest (on my hair) way of securing my hair when I need to keep it out of my face like when I’m riding horses, gardening, etc. It’s a “lazy girls quick fix” and that is probably why hairdressers started dissing them. Team scrunchies! Woo-hoo!

This debate really reminds me of that Sex and the City episode where Burger talks about his character wearing a scrunchie in his novel, and Carrie berates him for it 🙂
On a completely different note, is there a way to change how I view the blog? I like the new theme, but the logo now takes up more than half my browser screen and it’s really difficult to view any of the articles that way.

Scrunchies are a big jump back to 80s but I think they are very handy!
I usually use them at home, not for going out but a sequined scrunchy would be adorable for an outfit! I used a velvety one for an 80’s idea…

I love them!!! I totally can’t pull one off out of the house, but they’re my jam when it comes to messy hair days at home. I don’t even know where my hair ties are anymore.

Scrunchies are awesome! I love that I can wear one around my wrist without it cutting off my circulation, too. I would worry about a sequin one, though. I think the sequins would pull my hairs out, 🙁

And I so need that sequin scrunchie!
Back in the day, when my mom sewed, she made me a bunch of scrunchies. Apparently they’re super easy to make if you’re all crafty and sewy, which I am for sure not.
On a related note, Sephora has some plastic coil things that look like old telephone cords but work like scrunchies. The beige color matches my fake blond hair!

I’m not even sure! I used to be a scrunchie queen but I haven’t worn one in so long I can’t recall what they are like! I think I still got traction/headaches from them.

Yay for #teamscrunchie! I’m totally there. My friend has a clothing line (she mainly makes fabulous flares) and she uses the scraps to make scrunchies. The fabrics are fabulous! Icy-rainbow glitter velvet, 70’s green-gold, floral burnout velvet… so cool! I’ll have to send you a pic of my collection 😀 I’m so excited that you wrote about scrunchies again!

I only ever really pull my hair back into a ponytail or bun or anything when I’m : A) Washing my face or B) Exercising, and even then, I’m more likely to do a French braid or something. I don’t own any true scrunchies! When I do use a hair tie, I usually use the ribbon ones.

I’ve been wearing bunny ear scrunchies – they are so cute and easy to make! Happy to send some over if anyone is interested!! 🙂

There are much better looking accessories to hold the hair back.
