Yeah, totally. A few times, but the one that stung the most happened back when I was in college.
I think it was sophomore year, because I was working part time as an assistant at the language lab for foreign exchange students. My beauty budget was almost nonexistent, so I got most of my meager makeup purchases at drugstores. I’d buy one tube of MAC Paramount at the start of the school year, and that would be my one big beauty indulgence.
Shelley, my roommate at the time, swore up and down that Clinique Black Honey Almost Lipstick was EVERYTHING! — and I agreed. After hearing her gush about it for months, I scraped enough change together to buy a tube of my own.
Oh, I loved that tube… I wore it every day for two weeks straight (my tube of MAC Paramount started feeling neglected), but then, disaster!
I lost it. At the library, I think.
I’m pretty sure I set it on the counter in the restroom while touching up, and then forgot to put it back in my purse…
I didn’t realize it was gone until later that night when I looked through my book bag.
Heartbreak!
Have you ever lost a beauty product that meant a lot to you?

I’ve never mourned the loss of a beauty product because there are just so many gorgeous options waiting to be explored. I wouldn’t even care if it were a limited edition. There’s always another “perfect” product waiting to be discovered. Besides, I don’t like makeup ruts and am always moving on to new products. The only thing I’d be annoyed about would be the expense of having to replace it.

I don’t know about lost, but had to throw out beauty products I’d loved that had gotten old and were making me break out. That’s always sad, especially if the color isn’t made anymore or the palette isn’t made anymore. I try to keep especially eye makeup (excluding mascara, since that has a shelf life) as long as I can. I am also in the habit now of getting rid of beauty products I bought at the drugstore that didn’t work, and using what I have. I try to take stock once a month of what I absolutely need and what I would want. Most eye makeup can be refreshed with contact lense saline if it dries out, so it puts a longer shelf life on some of my fave cream shadows.

Yep, I’m suffering right now! I had this brush from a Bloomingdales makeup bag I found at Goodwill (washed EVERY part of that bag, though the brushes weren’t used lol) and its got a super small head on it, the bristles are the perfect length but a little bit fluffy. It could probably make a good blending brush for small areas but it would be the best inner corner highlighting brush *ever*. And I can’t find it! It’s horrible.

Yes from my purse I lost a great eyeliner and a great blush 🙁
dont know where they went 🙁

Yes i have, it was such a sad day. I have this orange tiny bag where i kept my MAC Spice lip pencil, concealer, pretty compact mirror, a few lipsticks and eye pencil :'(. I was at YMCA locker room dressing my four year old and toddler after shower. It fell from the bag. I didn’t realize until i got home. I drove back checked everywhere, went through the dirty lost and found bin..it was no where. I had that bag for so many years. It was a perfect 1 minute makeup kit..I even have a picture of my bag 🙁

Happy Friday! Tabs looks how I feel! Remember when I said this week would be less crazy? I was wrong. HAHA!
I thought for sure you’d talk about the time Tabs stole your Shu. 🙂 I lost my Ev Rev but thankfully found it in a jacket pocket. I don’t think I’ve ever lost anything else but my makeup pretty much stays in its bag at home.

Yes. And if anyone at Dept. of Justice, or in Washington, D.C., found a MAC Pearl Blossom BP, please reply. LOL!!!

Yes! A tube of Shu Uemura’s Petal Brown Beige…a LE lipstick, and I am still looking for a dupe.

Damn, i’m sorry that happened to you, Karen 🙁 it is an expensive and pretty l/s, indeed, i’ve seen reviews of it. Thankfully, i didn’t lose smth expensive, but i’m known to lose things 😀 i “lost” a black eyeliner once(i guess it was stolen) and since i’m addicted to using it and it also fades easily, i was sad and desperate but bought a new one. I also lost a bourjois eyeliner i had just bought at the mall..i guess in the bathroom. Ididn’t regret it much as it faded very soon on my waterline..i’m sorry for it cause i could’ve used it on my eyelids…i also can’t find one of my lipsticks recently..maybe it’s under the bed, maybe it got stolen. Lol

None that I can remember. It’s all so replaceable to me.

I don’t know that it’s anything super sentimental, but one of the first MAC lipsticks I fell in love with was Lovelorn. It was my go-to color when I didn’t know what to wear. As my collection grew I neglected it for awhile. Then it struck me one day that I hadn’t used it in a long time and went to pull it out-but it had disappeared. I looked everywhere for several days, and on-off for several weeks. It was just …gone. After what seemed like forever but was probably more like two months I broke down and ordered another tube. Wouldn’t you know within a week of getting the new one the old one reappeared. It was a cruel joke but a lesson in staying organized as well! Ha 😉

I can’t find my MAC Love Nectar Lustreglass for anything! It’s my favorite nude lip color, which is a rarity for me, since I hate most nude makeup.
The worst part is that since MAC is back to animal testing in order to sell in China, I can’t go out and buy another one. (I only use cruelty-free products.) Before I lost it, I was looking forward to being able to finish up my tube and then bid it farewell.

this past weekend my best friend’s dog got into my travel bag at her house (we were visitng for her birthday) and i was pretty lucky he didnt eat my pucci for guerlain brush or bronzer (sigh of relief) but he did manage to chew the bottom of a nice Laura Mercier brush. I feel pretty lucky he didnt do worse with my goodies.

I lost a bottle of Estee Lauder perfume, which was a gift – makes it hurt more.

I haven’t. But I had those days when my purse pockets got holes in them, and some of my stuff fell deep down in my bag, and I THOUGHT my fave Avon lipstick (Frozen Rose – just a really pretty everyday warm pink color), my Body Shop Born Lippy Lip Balm and a bunch of my lip glosses were lost – along with my crazy expensive gym membership card and students’ ID… I got really nervous then, haha :D.

Wow, I haven’t commented on MBB in ages…but this story is coincidental!
I got my first tube of Black Honey in one of Clinique’s gift sets some months ago, and loved it. I neglected to wear some lip color on the day of my college graduation (three weeks ago) and regretted the decision during the morning main ceremony, so I texted my roomie and Mom to find the tube and give it to me before the afternoon satellite ceremony (when I would actually walk the stage and have my picture taken), but they couldn’t find it!
I thought they just weren’t looking in the right places, but when I packed all my belongings for move-out the next day, I couldn’t find it! It wasn’t until just yesterday that I found it deep in one of the pockets of my handbag!
I’m with others above in believing it’s OK to lose a product – it can always be replaced – it’s just annoying to spend the money to purchase it again! Black Honey is a flattering, lovely shade (and luckily that tube was a “freebie”), but I could’ve lived without it.

YES–mine was Burberry Sheer Summer Glow. I was absolutely devastated, especially since it was an LE item and I can’t find anywhere to repurchase another (except currently Amazon, I think, but it’s marked up to like $150 or something crazy like that :/). I loved that thing SO much–it was my very first Burberry item and what made me fall in love. I only used it a handful of times too :/ *sobs*

Yes! I bought a beautiful YSL lipstick in red with a little gold shimmer. I got it in a duty-free shop in Frankfurt, Germany. I loved it and used it but it’s gone missing for about 6 months now. No idea where it went. I miss it!

I held on to a bottle of Bear Fingr’s blue glitter polish from the late 90s for YEARS. Knowing they were popular and trying to lighten the load, thinking I could always get another when moving out of state, I finally let it go. Never found a replacement, they were discontinued, still miss it so badly! (These days some people on Ebay sell them but only in whole sets lol) Oh I miss those cute little bottles, how could something that cute be discontinued LOL

I have!
I was 15 and lost my Mac Spice lip pencil.
Now it’s seems like no biggie, but back then I was poor. My dad, whom I rarely saw bought it for me, and it was one of the only higher end makeup items I had. I left it in a gym locker at school. I was in a rush to get dressed and to my next class. I thought I left a simple pen behind… it turns out it was my Mac pencil! I desperately left a note in there the next day asking if someone found it, but of course no one returned it. I couldn’t get another one cause my mom couldn’t drive and we of course didn’t have the money for stuff like that.
Don’t worry I got a new one years later! haha!

I also lost my beloved Clinique black honey! 🙁 I especially felt robbed because I spent my precious 500 Sephora points on it.

I lost a tube of MAC’s Hot Gossip. It randomly slipped or fell out of my purse in someone else’s car. As soon as I realised it was missing, I sprinted to my nearest MAC counter in order to replace it.

I lost the brush that came in the UD Naked 1 palette. I have absolutely no idea where it is, but I do suspect that a former roommate may have stolen it.
Danii says
At least it’s replaceable. It’s expensive but the brush is replaceable! Urban Decay brushes are available from Ulta too.

Yes in 5th grade I lost my Snoopy shoulder bag that contained a Bonnie Bell 7up lip balm but it was one of the big tubes!
Clearly it traumatised me because I still think about to this day and that was 30 years ago!
