Dior J’adore (left) and Laura Mercier Eau de Lune (right)
I realized something the other day as I was rifling through my perfume stash…
I don’t think I’ve ever completely finished a bottle of perfume. Not ever (at least as far as I can remember).
Mind you, I’ve come close with my bottles of J’adore (which I’ve had since 2001) and Laura Mercier Eau de Lune, but at this rate I’ll be lucky to polish one of them off by the turn of the next century, LOL!
How about you? Have you ever finished a bottle of perfume, and do you remember what it was?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
Nina says
Actually yes. Before I got addicted to Sephora, I would only have two perfume bottles at a time that I would alternate. That meant that I went through 2 bottles of perfume maybe 6-8 months at a time. It was only when a perfume was used up that I would get either a new bottle of the same one or try something else.
Then, Sephora came in and now I find myself with at least 4 bottles of perfume and several rollerballs at one time. The last bottle I finished was D&G Light Blue last year, and I have an unopened bottle waiting to be used.
dani@callitbeauty says
i voted no, but i just realized that i have finished a 50mL bottle of burberry classic and i’m pretty sure i’ve also finished a 30mL bottle of vanilla perfume oil from the body shop.
but right now i have 7 i alternate between so i don’t foresee myself finishing one anytime soon. 🙂
Karen B says
I finished two 100ml bottles of Coco Mademoiselle. It’s my signature perfume for something eh 😉
Christina says
My first perfume was Coco Mademoiselle. I loved it but decided that it was time to switch when I used up my first bottle!
Karen B says
I switched it up too after my first bottle but it felt as if something was off. Then my best friend came up to me and was like: you don’t smell like you anymore! So back to Coco it was… haha 🙂
Yuliya says
YES! I’ve gone through 4 or 5 bottles of Ralph Lauren’s Romance, the 3.4 oz ones too lol it’s the only perfume I wear =]
Kymberlee says
Romance is my fave!!!
Amber says
Only the ones that come in very small bottles. The few that I’ve bought in larger sizes, no — so I don’t buy larger sizes anymore. 😉
Trisha says
I really don’t think I have, so I voted no. Granted, I haven’t had a lot of perfume in general over the years.
I DID finish the Reese Witherspoon In Bloom shower gel, though. Oh man, that stuff was awesome. The scent is one of my favorites in the last few years.
G says
YES – All I use is Coco – Love it – been using for over 20 years.
Neela says
I don’t wear perfume (haven’t smelled one that doesn’t smell “off” to me), but I’ve finished off probably 5 bottles of B&BW’s Frozen Daiquiri.
Emma says
I finished YSL ‘In Love Again’ repeatedly until they discontinued it (it was my signature) 🙁 Also finished ‘Dior Addict 2’ and Calvin Klein ‘Truth’ (my evening EdP). I’d love to get my hands on a bottle of Chanel ‘Coco Mademoiselle’ but it’s always been out of my price range.
Lex says
I have finished a bottle of Tommy Girl (back in my college days) and most recently a bottle of Marc Jacobs Daisy… and I’m on the way to finishing another Daisy. Just half a bottle left :). Next I’ll probably buy more Daisy (love it) and some Burberry Brit so that they will last a little longer.
Kerstin says
Yes I have. I finished a bottle of 30 ml EdP Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb and a bottle of 100ml EdT Davidoff Game Summer Edition. And my bottle of 50ml EdP Diesel Fuel for Life will be empty in a few weeks. Just love it. 3 splash of it will last the whole day. In my clothes even longer up to 3 days.
Anjali Makhijani says
I’ve always had 4-5 bottles sitting on my dresser – and I’ve never finished one. Right now, I’m almost done w/ my Estee Lauder Beautiful Sheer, which I *love* & Lancome Miracle – thank god! I’ve had that one since 2004 & it needs to go.
My newest favorite, go-to perfume is Lancome Magnifique – it’s amazing & I have a back-up bottle, so that one I might be able to finish in less than 1 year, amazingly enough.
Another classic is Givenchy Amarige. Once I finish that super expensive one, I’ve got my eye on a D&G “Rose” perfume. It smells like heaven. Can’t wait for more!
lo says
I’ve already finished 100ml of Marc Jacobs Daisy… and I’m almost finished with a 50ml of the same. Can’t remember, but I might have already finished another 50ml and threw away the bottle. It’s pretty much the only fragrance I can wear that doesn’t give me headaches or sneezing fits.
Alison says
I finished a bottle of Clinique Happy and fully intend on finishing my bottle of Coco Mademoiselle and re-buying, I love that one so much (i’m only about half way down but my bottle has lasted me a year so far!)
Brittany says
In High School: Bottled Emotions’ Flirty. Still my favorite perfume. I’ve been looking for something similar and still haven’t found it 🙁
gio says
I don’t wear perfume often so I’ve never finished a whole bottle yet but I think I will soon. My bottle of The One by CK is almost empty.
Victoria says
Only the ones that come in purse size! I’m a firm believer in variety and matching scents to moods (and colors, oddly) so I’ve got seven different bottles on my bureau and looking to buy one or two more before the year is out. None are even down to the half-way point!
Victoria says
WAIT! I spoke too soon! I finished my 1.7oz bottle of Hanae Mori eau de parfum a few years ago. I haven’t gotten a new one since then, but WOW did I love that scent. It helps that it was my only perfume at the time!
Courtnie says
Yea!! Pac Sun had a perfume called Lilu that I actually used up 2 bottles of. But if I buy big sizes they tend to change scent before I finish them. So now when I get tired of something, my mom gets it.
Christa says
Yes, three actually:
Philosophy’s Amazing Grace
L’Occitane Eau de La Recolte Bleue (my signature)
L’Occitane Maman et Bebe water (another HG that was sadly discontinued after only a year) *whyyyyyyyyyyyy* <—Nancy Kerrigan scream
Ru says
Yup! Unlike nail polish or mineral makeup- I’ve most def finished a bottle of perfume, most recently Miracle and Aqua D Gio. Now, however, I’ve got 4 bottles, 2 of which were gifts: D&G Light Blue for everyday; Chanel Chance (wedding gift) for special events, Aqua D Gio for special events, SATC Perfume for …. nothing (hubby got it for me as a gift. It smells like a cheap drunk college girl, YUCK).
Lisa S. says
I have too many perfume bottles to count. Everything from Tilda Swinton, Like This to Lemon Grass Basil (BBW) to Burberry Brit to Poison. I have finished off two bottles of KenzoAmour and a bottle of Hanae Mori Butterfly and a bottle of Velvet Tuberose from BBW. Also numerous BBW scents through the years. As well as strangely enough a bottle of Cynthia Rowley Petal from Avon. I’m not a big fan of Avon perfumes, although a few over the years have called my name.
I freely admit that I’m a perfume junky. ;0)
Aimee says
No! I can never seem to love a perfume long enough to finish it. I have beauty product ADD. However, I’ve done 1/4 of a 1.7oz bottle of Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche in five short months.. so maybe I’ll actually make it through this one. It’s certainly already farther than I’ve ever got.
Francesca says
NEVER! I don’t understand how people do that! Even if sprayed myself 10 times a day I don’t think I could, and I don’t even own many perfumes! Only about two!
Principessa Grassa says
I am very, very frighteningly close to finishing off my Hanae Mori Butterfly, and in fact it would be gone now had I not started rationing it strictly when I realized how dire the situation was becoming! I know it’s not hard to find or anything, I just don’t want to have to buy another one.
House of Accessories says
Yes,Beach By Bobbi B!
Carissa says
I finished and re-purchased Euphoria by Calvin Klein; it’s one of my go-to fall/winter scents!
DiBonD says
I once owned a flacon of Paco Rabanne Black XS. My mom gave it to me about 3 years ago, but I didn’t like the smell so I gave it back to her. So far a I’ve finished 3 bottles and they smelled so good I buy them again.
kobri says
I honestly don’t know. If I did it was probably my bottle of Debbie Gibson’s Electric Youth from back in the day. I am about to finish my first grown up bottle of perfume, Jo Malone White Mint and Jasmine
JillyB says
I’ve finished and re-bought two. My old favorite Diorissimo. And my new favorite, Philosophy’s Falling in Love.
Jen says
I only recently started collecting perfume, and I have mostly small bottles (like Sephora’s scent sampler — so cute!). I voted no, but I think I might’ve finished a bottle of Dream by Gap… a small bottle. I have a big 3.4 eau de toilette still and I think it’ll last me forever because now I use other things as well.
Ditte K. says
Yup – United Colors of Benetton – Tribut 🙂 Am 2/3rds through a bottle of Madame by Jean Paul Gaultier. Each bottle takes me about 5-8 years.
Kerry says
Oh.. I’m easily on my 5th large bottle of Kenzo Parfum d’Ete.. 🙂 It’s my favorite. By far.
SDpfeiffy says
More so in my youth (Love’s Baby Soft, followed by Coty Wild Musk, then L’Jardin in the black bottle, then Navy. How do I remember all these names?) As an adult, I’ve embraced the signature scent idea and have finished Narciso Rodriguez (black bottle) twice, Coco Mlle (once) and D&G Light Blue (twice). Great question!
Megan says
Hmmm….. a while ago I finished Faith Hill’s fragrance. Funny, I’m not too big on it now. But most definitely, my signature scent, the perfume I wear daily, is Burberry Brit! Heavenly!
Steph says
I have! It’s because I only buy stuff that I will use up, so I use it until it ends. I have gone through at least 2 a year… I buy Japanese Cherry Blossom from Bath and Body Works because it is AMAZING.
Ashley says
What a coincidence! I just finished a bottle of Vera Wang Flower Princess yesterday. It is my HG scent and a have a spare bottle waiting to be opened.
It is by far the hardest perfume to look for because it’s LE and much older than Rock Princess or Glam Princess 🙁
Casey says
Only once – a 1.7oz bottle of Burberry The Beat
anne says
I have finished a Vanilla by the Body Shop, 2 MAC ones from the LIquid Honey line, a couple of Escada summer editions and am nearly done a huge bottle of SJP. I am sure I have finished ones in my teens, be they Love’s Baby Soft or Tribe or Exclamation…
I also sold a lot of my neraly finished bottles b/c I am downsizing, going backpacking for 2 years and so am trying to use or sell what I have in the next 2 months. I will have to store some MAC makeup and some of my perfumes, and I am trying to decide what to take with me….
I have to take the HUGE bottle of Miss Dior my bf gave me for xmas, then I need variety so I am taking a CKone and a CKone summer…and some solid perfumes as well. I don’t even know what I’ll do when the new MAC DIsney comes out. How can i resist? I WILL fit them in my 100L pack!!!!!!!!!!!
Emma says
Re your travels, Anne,
Can I just say as a very experienced backpacker / traveller – Do NOT take loads of stuff. You will have to carry it! And anything more than about 10kg gets very heavy. Also, depending where you are travelling you probably won’t want to wear much makeup (i.e. Asia is generally much too hot and anything just melts off your face and in your pack.). My essentials are mascara, moisturiser, eyebrow colour, eyeliner and bronzer.
I hope you don’t think that I’m being mean. I just don’t want you to break your back. And the more room you leave the more stuff you can buy (Asian makeup is so cheap, even the top shelf stuff). Have fun!
Twetriz says
I always finish the bottles of the ones I really loved, but the ones I ‘liked’ I did not finished. My mom and my sister finish all my bottles of lotion (For me this is the ones I never finish)
Jackie says
Yes I have finished Nuits de Noho from Bond No. 9 twice!! Love it!
Beth says
No, not before it “turns”. That happens to me all the time. I love perfume but don’t buy it all that often for this very reason. Though I wear it every day, and apply several spritzes before I leave the house in the morning, it is all I can do to finish a bottle in a year. So I have to buy the small bottles and not buy many different fragrances or they would go to waste.
Kathleen says
I haven’t before, but I know I will now. My boyfriend says L’Occitaine’s Honey & Lemon makes me smell like cotton candy… he loves it. I bought three bottles 😀
Styrch says
I think the real question is “which bottles of perfume have you purchased again?” I’ve finished so many perfumes but have only gone back for seconds on a few.
Eileen says
I came across Fidji by Guy Laroche in the early 80s when I was still in my teens. I am now working my way through my 4th, albeit, small bottle of this increasingly difficult to find scent. Everytime I wear it, guys literally follow me to ask what scent I’m wearing.
Elle says
I have finished a few bottles of The Body Shop’s White Musk, and a bottle of Bulgari’s Au The Rouge…bought another bottle of that one too 🙂
Erica says
Actually – I just finished a bottle yesterday. It was from L’occitane, don’t remember the name, but it is rose-scented and a friend gave it to me. I love it so much but don’t realise I’m using it up so quickly!
Laura F. says
Stella McCartney Nude… I wish that it was edible so that I could drink it. 🙂
smeegal9 says
I have had many bottles of perfume, but the only one I’ve run through 3 of is Ralph by Ralph Lauren. Mostky because I love the smell, but it doesnt last long so I have to spray, spray, spray away! I wish it had a parfum version. I’d buy a bathtub full of it!
snoopysteph says
Yep, but only once – a big bottle of Acqua di Gio that I had for 10 years!
Sophie says
Actually everytime! Several bottles of Shalimar/ Guerlain, Stella/ Stella McCartney, Premier Jour/ Nina Ricci.
jlovelyn says
yep! tommy hilfiger’s tommy girl! i finished it within a year then asked my mom to get me another bottle when she went to hong kong 😛
lisa says
yes, but it was when i was in 8th-12th grade! lucky’s lucky you, lacoste touch of pink, and clinique happy, but more recently i have not.
Shannon says
Sadly, I am one of those people who have sensitivities to perfume/cologne & scented products. I will get anything from a headache, to nausea, rashes to migraines from being around them. It’s really hard to go to restaurants, theatres, shopping even when everything and everywhere is so heavily scented these days 🙁 Now, don’t get me wrong…I LOVE the smell of many perfumes, colognes etc…but my body has a negative reaction so … I have to refrain and avoid *sigh*
Christina says
I’ve only used up one bottle of Chanel Coco Mademoiselle 1.7 so far but I loved every last drop. I’m perilously close to finishing my Marc by Marc and halfway through 2/3 of the way through my Givenchy Pi (yes it’s for men. I like it though). I’m a faithful perfume wearer – so I tend to stick with one or at most two perfumes until it runs out. I like the idea of having a signature scent lol.
amy says
Perfume is easy for me to finish because I use it consistently everyday and even several times a day. Though it may take a long time, I have finished bottles of The Body Shop Satsuma Perfume Oil and Vanilla Perfume OIl; Anna Sui Dolly Girl Bonjour L’amour; and Aquolina Chocolovers.
Christy says
Very rarely have I ever finished a bottle. I think the last one was a bottle of Victoria’s Secret Love Spell Body Mist. Otherwise, I have so many I don’t know if I’ll ever get close to finishing a bottle
Argyro says
I’d managed to finish 2, no 3 bottles of Thierry Mugler’s Angel 50ml and then my beloved bf came and told me he can’t stand the smell of it so I’m stuck with 1 more bottle of it to use whatever he is not around. Also I have finished 2 or 3 bottles of Nina 80 ml by Nina Ricci -what a great flowery smell- and 2 bottles of Love in Paris 80 ml by Nina Ricci es well.
KC says
I finished a bottle of Dior Shine 2 recently, and I’m not debating if I should go get myself another bottle. Since I got mine at duty free and it looks like a special edition of Dior Shine 2 so I’m not sure if I could get the exact replacement. But I was given 3 bottles of different brand of perfume since then…. so, still wondering.
Advah says
NO! 🙁 It feels like such a waste, especially because after years with the same perfume I want to try something new (right now, I’m drooling over Chanel’s Chance)
I also have J’adore – it’s fantastic but smells a bit tooooo strong for me. I’ve had it for years and only wear it on hot summer days. I’m still kicking myself for not getting the eau de parfum instead, that was back in the days when I didn’t know the difference between the two.
Michelle says
It takes me forever to find a scent that I absolutely love. I’ve finished about 2 Clinique Happy Heart and 3 Marc Jacobs Daisy. I’m a pretty faithful gal.
Anastasia says
I’ve finished off two bottles of Jo Malone perfumes… one was Blue Agave / Cocao and the other was the Lotus scent. The only other one I’ve finished off was a Marc Jacobs perfume (the original one). Wait, no, I think I finished off the original Prada scent as well… I have a second bottle now that I wish I hadn’t bought a big version of… I’m kind of tired of the scent!
Have a great day y’all.
Ana.
Lisalee says
I remember being in 7th grade and going through Love’s baby soft like crazy. I would get it at Christmas for a few years in a row. Other than that, I have about 20 different bottles of colognes that I have sitting on my dresser. My current fav right now is Avon’s Outspoken by Fergie (of the black eyed peas). I also love my Super Model from Victoria’s Secret.
Deb says
Nope! I don’t wear a lot of perfume because the heavy scents get to me after a while. I only wear it for really romantic dates with my husband at really nice restaurants/shows. I don’t think I’ve ever even finished one of those perfume sample bottles, either!
Kim says
Oh, yes. Always. As a matter of fact I was just trying to coerce any last remnants from my LouLou bottle the other day (yes, I know… 80s flashback). I’m nearly done with both my rollerballs – Lavanila’s Vanilla Grapefruit and Pacifica’s Tuscan Blood Orange. I may have mentioned that I love rollerballs. 🙂
Hli says
When I was younger, I finished a few: Night Rhythms, Tres L.A, Friday and maybe one or two more. I just found my Sand & Sable, Tea Rose, Les Jardin and Pavlova from the 80’s/early 90’s!
I’ve not finished one lately though. I’ve got over 20 different perfumes that I’ve collected since 5 years ago. My favorites that I switch between now are J’adore, VW Bouquet, VW Sheer Veil, Burberry Brit Sheer, and Avon Spotlight. Husband like’s The Body Shop’s White Musk Midnight Iris…which I am wearing right now.
Elizabeth Craig says
I finished a jumbo bottle of Calvin Klein Eternity… it’s important to note that I got it as a High School Graduation present and I think I finished it up when I was about 29, lol.
Stavroula Plag says
Nope I haven’t, but that’s just because I don’t wear perfume very often! 🙂
Rebecca says
Two actually, both were small bottles:
D&G light blue (30ml) and MAC turquatic (22ml)
Suzanne says
I was 100% sure I’d never finished a bottle, but I am very wrong, upon further thinking.
Lolita Lempicka 100ml, as a wayward fifteen year old
YSL Babydoll 100ml, and I’m halfway through my second 🙂
and Burberry Brit 100ml, which is totally delightful. Everyone should try it.
Liz says
I’ve had a fairly extensive perfume collection for quite a while, but I still managed to finish a bottle of Duende. I haven’t finished the backup bottle yet, though. It will probably go bad before I do!
The BB says
In high school it was Jovan White Musk (several bottles). And I’ve also finished off bottles of CK One and Dior’s Hypnotic Poison. Now I have a few I rotate.
Stephanie! says
Here’s what I’ve used up so far:
Hugo boss – Deep red (1 bottle)
Chacharel – Gloria (2 bottles) Unfortunately this ones been discontinued.. Oh what I’d do for another bottle!!!!
Burberry – Brit (1 bottle)
Naomi Campbell – Naomi Campbell (1 bottle) This was my first perfume 🙂
Jill Sander -Sun (1 bottle)
joods says
I have so many different perfumes/fragrances. But my faves and the ones I’ve hit bottom on are: Bvlgari “White Tea”
Burberry (the original scent)
L’Artisan “Tea for Two”
Thierry Muglar “Angel”
Lorenzo Villoresi “Teint de Neige”
Taylor says
As embarrassed as I am to admit it, the only bottle of perfume I’ve finished was Curious by Britney Spears. It was my signature scent in high school! I think I went through 3 or 4 bottles. I may or may not wear it occasionally for a trip down memory lane…
G e r i says
Yes! I am proud to have finished a full bottle of perfume (100 ml)! I was so addicted to the scent of Moschino I Love Love that I wore it every single day. It took me (just) months to finish it.
Cat says
I’ve finished two bottles of Diptyque Oyedo, but it seems too sweet for me now, so I think I’m going to get their neroli scent soon.
Lucy says
I am addicted to Dior Addict so have used up MANY bottles of that! Love it so much I hate even throwing the bottles away, so if anyone can use empty Dior bottles (Addict or Poison) I would be happy to pass them on!
Doodles says
I have finished numerous perfumes, yes! 😉
And I would buy again most of them now, too. If I already not have done, due to them been discontinued, normally.
Mine were:
– Yohji Yamamoto (re-launched this year, already bought)
– Dior Dolce Vita
– Lancome Miracle (have a 2nd bottle almost finished)
– Calvin Klein Euphoria (2nd bottle, on the bottom now)
– St Dupont, Cartier
– Issey Miyake Feu D’Issey
– Dior Poison (loooooong-long time ago!!!)
– Lancome Tresor
– Mugler Angel (now at the end of 2nd bottle, which is really 3rd, as first had a refill)
– Chanel Mademoiselle (first was 50ml, now end of 100ml, but I also have refillable travel version, so its a bit slow now)
– YSL In love again (finishing now)
and there were few other Limited Diors, but that was so long ago (almost in the other life, so I’d not bother even thinking about them now, to be honest ;))
PS I think I’ve surprised myself now going back and remembering all those years behind! And re-living all these parfumes once again! wow! I always thought that I dont like perfume that much! ;))
