A bandit who likes to steal makeup from drugstores is back after a six-month hiatus. Dubbed the “Blue Basket Bandit,” the thief, who police believe to be this man, has walked out of various Arizona Walgreens stores with an estimated $10,000 in beauty products!
Daaamn! That’s a lot of Q-tips. 🙂
Putting aside the irony of the bandit potentially being a man, I knew girls in grade school who “liberated” lip balms from their drugstore oppressors, which begs the question…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

It appears that I am the first former juvenile delinquent to confess to my ugly little sticky fingers habit of years gone by (given the poll results of one vote!) My younger sister, some cousins and I went through a phase when I was 12. We took some makeup and some silly costume jewelry from the local drugstore until we got caught, they called our parents, and it was all over. In a way, I was glad we got caught because I felt really guilty. Oh the stupid things we do during those ‘tween years. I’m just glad I can lol about it now.

ummm i shot a movie guerilla-style with no budget and we stole all the makeup and materials and stuff…but i was like 16. now i wouldn’t dream of shoplifting, i would just feel so guilty. and getting caught sounds like the most embarrassing thing ever!

Ahem – I may have done, to feed my beauty addiction in my early teens. Got caught really quick though, I wouldn’t exactly have said I made it to being a career criminal or anything!

lol, sometimes I think I was the most boring teenager ever. I never stole and generally didn’t get in much trouble…
K says
Nope, never did that. I was slow to get around to using makeup in the first place, but stealing never seemed like a good idea.

I was six…and I picked up a bottle of clear polish at kmart to show my dad, and completely forgot that I was holding it. We walked out and as we’re getting to the car, I realized that I still had it and started crying because I felt so awful…I was positive that the police were going to find me and put me in jail lol. I didn’t do it on purpose, my conscience would never allow stealing!

Now, I’ve stolen a pregnancy test in my college years and a cassette tape. No make-up though.

LOLOL!!

I went to college in Nyc and developed quite a sticky finger problem. I would pass by 2 sephoras on my way to school every day. It was sick how many hundreds of dollars in makeup I stole. I was not limited to cosmetics though. I’d steal groceries and clothes too. Luckily I never got caught and rid myself of the habit. I now pay full price for almost everything.

Peer pressure got me. My friend worked at a drug store and would make me smuggle the stuff out after she picked it out for us. I don’t think I had to buy any makeup during my senior year of high school. Luckily, we were never caught.
Karen says
Oh boy. I would’ve totally freaked out…
Jeanne says
Nope — I’m too constant in my patterns and shop at all of the same stores, and I would be totally busted. Plus, I’d feel too guilty to go back to the store, busted or not. And when it’s, like, my local Walgreens or Sephora, I can’t give those stores up. Which is what stops me. 😉

Ha! I’m totally addicted to Walgreens too! They have the best makeup section. 🙂

Not gonna lie, I’ve thought about it once or twice. But the thought of getting caught always shook me out of it – my dad is a cop so getting caught would be especially embarrassing!

I stole a piece of bubblegum when I was 6. I’m not above correcting a sales person who rings up my goods wrong, and once the apple store forgot to add my laptop to a receipt, but then I asked a question about something else and they noticed – damn! but shoplifting? No. The guilt, and the fact that I would look so shifty when doing it that I’d get caught!

Yeah, me too. I’m still pretty much a goody-two-shoes. Plus I’m a terrible liar, LOL!

Dude, I’m the type of person who corrects checkout people when they forget to ring up something I’m purchasing.
I did shoplift once accidentally. I was 3 years old, and there was this 99 cent knick-knack at some store that I wanted. My mother said no, and I apparently put it in my pocket, hoping that if I refused to put it back, she would buy it for me.
I realized it was there when I brought it home. I hid in my room and cried because I felt so bad (not to mention, I was afraid the police were going to arrest me). This was such a traumatic experience that I still felt guilty about it two years later and confessed to my mother what happened. Luckily, she was not mad.

No I’ve never been a beauty bandit, but I can’t believe it was a guy lol!

I was playing around with a tacky little cupid sewn on some tacky bag in a store, and while i made it dance (aka twisted it), it came off… since it was in my hand and i really liked it, i took it home with me. We soon came back home from the states to my country, and i was extremely nervous that the cops would find me and take me back without my parents…
And i did find a necklace once in an H&M without any pricetag, on the floor – i picked it up and put it on, and took it, i admit… It just seemed too easy i guess.
Never stole makeup, though my friend once did, while we were together. Doubt either of us would nowadays.

I was quite stealthy when I was younger. During middle school days I’d go to the nearby drugstore or AMES(which then closed down) after school and took lip balms and make up kits for girls and felt so awesome doing that. It got to the point where I had quite a collection but I stopped when I moved and grew a conscience. I can’t even imagine doing the 5 finger discount anymore. I guess those bad girl days are over for me! Lol.
Shiny says
Ooooh never, I always correct people at the till too if they undercharge me. Maybe it’s coming back to me now, got a free taco at TBell today!

A few month ago I was in walgreen hauling a bunch of clearance basket stuff and walked away with a pair of goggles under my arm (the cashier didn’t notice it nor did it) without paying.
Anyway, I did went back and returned it after thinking that “come on, do I even swim?”…I am not sure if I will do the same thing if it were something else though…

Oh man, I’ve never admitted this publicly before! The first (and ONLY) time I ever stole anything was a Bonne Bell LipSmackers from CVS when I was like, 12.
I got away, but I was so scared I never tried it again!
