Happy Thanksgiving, my sweet friend, and thank you very much.
I don’t tell you that often enough — how grateful I am for your friendship and companionship over all these years. Thank you for your funny stories, your baby carrier suggestions (and other baby-related recs and advice), your banana bread recipes (YUM!), your compassion, your cat stories (and your dog and bunny stories, too!), your Trader Joe’s recommendations, your movie recs, your TV recs (OMG, GLENN!), your makeup recs (obvs), your book recs, and the glimpses you’ve given me into your life.
You have literally made my life these past — almost nine years (!) — and I’m eternally grateful for it.
I love you. 🙂 I hope you’re having a wonderful holiday.
Your tabby nephew also sends his regards, BTW. We went out first thing this morning literally BEFORE the crack of dawn, in the dark, at like 6 am, when I could still see my breath in the cold, because Tabs loves skulking around in the dark. And I do too, truthfully. The world is so quiet and peaceful, and it’s a good time to think, ya know? — outside with my cat on his leash… LOL.
We’re all set for our little T-giving feast over here. My brother is supposed to be driving up from the city, and then it’ll just be him, me, El Hub, Tabs and Baby Girl. I picked up a pre-cooked turkey from a deli this year, so we’ll see how that turns out (fingers crossed).
Enjoy the rest of your day, my friend. I’ll talk to you soon.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Enjoy your Thanksgiving Karen! It’s been a blast following your blog for the past few years since I discovered it!
It’s chilly out! I need to walk my dog too. Then I get to go see my parents and the cats.
Karen says
Hi Elena,
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! Have fun with your parents and give Mario and the kitten (how old is he/she now?) Tabs’s regards. 🙂
Did your dog get any leftovers, by the way? Tabs got a few bites of turkey!
Elena says
Hi Karen!
I am definitely bringing home leftovers for Atticus!
Mario is doing well and Louis (the kitten) is almost 7 months old. He is so playful and naughty.
Have a happy thanksgiving and give my regards to Tabs!

Happy Thanksgiving
Thank you for adding joy and fun to our inboxes and feeds.
Thank you for adding the floofy magnificence of Tabs to our lives.
Thanks you for sharing your thoughts and your life with us.
Good luck for the next year, which is going to be amazing, can’t wait to see pictures of the munchkin ☺
Karen says
Thank you, Jax! Thank you for reading all of these years and for all your nice comments. 🙂 Have a wonderful day!
Jennifer says
Happy Thanksgiving big girl and baby girl!
Give Tabs a scrunch for Paco Rabanne who does not yet realize it’s turkey day. The bird has been roasting for an hour now but Paco is in a deep slumber and completely oblivious. When he wakes up, he will begin pacing in front of the oven
I can’t remember how I discovered your website but I’m so glad I did. I’m thankful for your fun, consistency and knowledge of all things beauty and feline.
I’m glad you let someone else prepare the turkey. Rest up these last months before the big day 🙂
Karen says
I’m thankful that I got to meet you though this blog, Jennifer! Thank you for always putting a smile on my face.
Give Paco a little extra gravy for me, will ya?
Kwmechelle says
Happy Thanksgiving, sweet friend! During the many ups & downs of the past few years, I stumbled upon your blog. And have read it every. single. day. since. It’s my happy space. Coupled with your amazing quality photos & wonderful creative writing style, I stay atop all the latest in makeup & beauty. Can honestly say that your blog is helping me to feel (and become, literally) more beautiful with age. Now I know the best blush colors, which vampy lips to bring out the (drag) queen in me (we ALL have one), where to get the best highlighters, how to rock nude lips, and which eyeshadow palettes I absolutely NEED (i.e. all of them!). You’re an inspo, dude. Sending lots of southern Thanksgiving vibes your way (as I head out to enjoy some southern cuisine). Happy Turkey Day. #eastCoastHomie 🙂
Jules says
I second this comment completely! Happy Thanksgiving from a Canadian reader. <3
Karen says
Happy Thanksgiving, Jules! 🙂
Karen says
Thank you, sweet Kwmechelle! What a lovely Thanksgiving greeting from an old friend. I hope that you are enjoying your day so far and that your t-day makeup is rocking! I just put a little bit on myself. Did a 10 minute look and I’m pretty happy with it.
Sending you happy and joyful vibes!
Ricky says
Amen to that!
Wishing you and your family lots of love from The Netherlands!!
Erin says
HAPPY T-DAY! I hope the deli turkey works out! Reheating them can be a beast. Only carve half though since it’s a small gathering. Leftovers get hella dry if you carve the whole thing!
Ruchita says
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family! Mingus loves going out for walks in the dark as well. I’ll probably treat him to a walk later today. Hope you have a nice and relaxing day! 🙂
Karen says
Happy Thanksgiving, Ruchita! I hope that you have a wonderfully tasty (mmm) and relaxing day. Did you guys order your meal from the restaurant yet? I swear Tabs has a gravy countdown going on…
Ruchita says
Yep, we got carry out and had a Thanksgiving lunch. 🙂 Took Mingus and Nina outside for walks and now spending some time on the couch. It’s been a pretty low key day. Did you get some pie to go with dinner? We got a couple of slices of pumpkin, but I’m thinking of making an apple pie from scratch.
Karen says
GIRL, I got *two* pies. And a tub of ice cream. And some whipped cream! LOL. We don’t mess around when it comes to desserts. What did you guys order? A classic Thanksgiving meal with all the fixings?
I’m about to go in and try to carve my very first turkey. Wish me luck.
Ruchita says
Lol! Cant go wrong with pies and whipped cream. Sounds delicious! We got turkey, stuffing, green beans and mashed potatoes. And rolls. Gotta have some carbs on Turkey Day.Good luck with the turkey carving! 🙂
Karen says
So I made it as far as the legs but then I just couldn’t do it. El Hub ended up finishing the rest, LOL! But it ended up being really good. Seriously, thank goodness for other people who cook the food for you on Thanksgiving!
Have you started on your apple pie yet?
Ashleigh says
Happy Thanksgiving Karen! (and Tabs and el Hub and Baby Girl!)
Karen says
Thank you, Ashleigh! Happy Thanksgiving to you too. How are you and Oliver the Dog doing today? Good I hope!
Ashleigh says
Thanks, we are all doing well! Went out to eat and enjoyed this lovely Florida evening and took the pup out on a walk by the lake. Enjoy your holiday <3
Daniela says
Hi Karen!
Happy holidays to you and your family. I’m following you for about 5 years now and really enjoy your tips, ideas, writing and recommendations.
So I want to thank you and of course everyone who replies to your posts, because I enjoy reading these replies as well.
Have you seen the Grumpy Cat emojis? They are so funny!
Karen says
Hi Daniela,
Thank you, friend. Happy holidays to you and your family too! 🙂 It’s wonderful to be spending another one with you.
I have seen the Grumpy Cat emojis but I’m forbidden to talk about it because of Tabs’s raging jealousy issues, LOL!
How are things on your end? Are you still liking your NARS Ita brush?
Daniela says
The Ita brush is great. I’m using it for about two weeks now for a little contouring in the morning, and the form (flat, a little stiff) is great for this.
I’m visiting my family next weekend as well incl my niece (she is 4,5 years now and so cool).
Karen says
I’m going to have to break down and get it eventually. I have a bunch of NARS staples on my list and when I go in to get them that Ita brush is mine! 🙂
Oh how fun that you get to spend time with your niece. You get to the cool auntie! Wait until she asks you to put some makeup on her…
Lauren S. says
Happy Thanksgiving, Karen, Baby Girl, and El Hub! <3
Karen says
Thank you, Lauren! I hope that you’re having a wonderful Thanksgiving down there in San Jose. P.S. Are you doing any shows this season?
Take care!
Lauren S. says
Nope, not this season, but thank you for remembering!
Janet Shepherd says
I’m sure all of us would like to say thank you straight back to you! Thank you for opening your life to us, for the fun & inspiring love of makeup you share. Reading your blog is like chatting with an old friend, it’s fun and sweet and comforting.
Hope you and your family have a lovely & relaxing holiday!
Karen says
Hi Janet,
I’m so glad that I’ve gotten to know you in the comments! To quote the Golden Girls, “Thank you for being a friend.” lol I hope that you and your family are enjoying the day. We just finished our meal and now I’m about to pass out on the couch! Haven’t had pie yet (waiting to make room), but it’ll be soon.
Janet Shepherd says
Mmm pie. I just had a mince pie with my coffee for morning tea – more Christmassy than Thanksgiving, but I saw them at the supermarket & couldn’t resist!
Girl, I have to share with you a tale of shoe-based heartbreak. In my local department store, I found a lovely pair of black leather ankle booties, super comfy with a low heel. Just what I’ve been looking for, and reduced from $159.95 to $51.00. They were the last pair, and about half a size to a full size too big, but I have some orthotic insoles that I needed to try them with, so I brought them home with great hopes.
My hopes were dashed. These insoles are very, very hard work. They’ve got really high arches (because my feet have high arches) and they make most shoes fit oddly. I really thought that these too-big-all-over booties would work with the insoles, but they just became uncomfortable & yet still too big in places. I’m going to have to return the booties. I’m sure I’ll find another pair, but I’m sure not at such a great price. 🙁

Happy Thanksgiving Karen and Family! Hope you have a great day and a great weekend ahead.
Even if I don’t celebrate Thanksgiving (I’m a Spaniard living in Barcelona), I’d like to thank you for the many moments you put a smile in my face after a long day of work and kids and for all the products I have discovered in your blog (MAC Warm Soul it’s been a favourite since I read about it in your blog. Keep the good humour, your baby is going to have a wonderful mom.
Karen says
Hi MJ,
Thank you for this nice comment today! You are too sweet. I’ll send you over some virtual pie… Would you like pumpkin or pecan? And would you like a scoop of vanilla ice cream as well? lol
mj says

Happy Thanksgiving, Karen. I come to your blog at least once a day, usually twice, and it makes me smile in addition to giving me makeup tips and news about products. Thank you.
Karen says
Hi Rosemary,
Aww, thank you for making the blog a part of your day. 🙂 That means a lot. I hope you’re having a great T-day so far. What are you up to? We just finished our meal and now I’m going to veg on the couch.
Rosemary says
We’ve had our meal too. We’ve also watched Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation. LOL. It’s a family tradition that we watch it on Thanksgiving Day to usher in the Christmas season. Kinda silly, but fun when we’re sitting around reciting the lines as they’re said and laughing. 🙂
Like you, I’m going to veg out now until it’s time to hit the leftovers!
Have a relaxing evening.
Karen says
How fun! We’re watching movies too (Ant Man). I might just have to go in for a second slice of pie now…
Anastassia says
Happy Thanksgiving!
Karen says
Thank you, Anastassia! Happy Thanksgiving to you, too. 🙂
Rhia says
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your loved ones. Hope baby girl enjoys that turkey!
Karen says
Hi Rhia,
We just finished our T-day meal, and yes, she loved it! I hope that you’re having a good one so far. Where are you spending the holiday?
Mitzi says
Happy Thanksgiving to you, your family, and Mr. Magnificent (Tabs)! I’m so glad I came across your blog while surfing the internet recently, and subscribed. Your warm and friendly personality really shines through, and never fails to put a smile on my face (and all your readers!), no matter how grumpy I (sometimes) am in the morning. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Mitzi,
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! How’s your T-day going so far? Good I hope. We just finished our Thanksgiving lunch and now I’m stuffed. TIme for a nap on the couch, zzz…
Chelsea says
Happy Thanksgiving to you, Tabs, and El Hubs (and your little girl)! I had a great time in northern Michigan with my parents, grandparents, brother & wife, and my husband, as well as Tinkerbell the Rottweiler and Houghton the cat.
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
Happy Thanksgiving to you too! 🙂 Are you enjoying your time with your family? We’re just chilling here now in a food coma, lol.
Chelsea says
Definitely! My grandma’s going through chemo right now, so it was really nice to visit with her. She lives about 5 miles from my parents’ house, so I spent a ton of time with her growing up.
I don’t have too much of a food coma going on, but some of my relatives do now, LOL!
Karen says
I bet your grandma was happy to spend time with you. I hope that she gets better soon!
Me, my brother and El Hub all just woke up, lol. Apparently we all had a simultaneous food coma nap. Even Tabs was sleeping, but that’s nothing new.
Do you guys have family stuff lined up for tomorrow?
Chelsea says
Thanks for the grandma-healing thoughts 🙂
No family stuff tomorrow, except that we’re staying at my parents’ house, as are my brother and his wife. My best friend from high school plans to stop by though! Other than that, I have homework and doctoral program applications to fill out 🙂
Jane says
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Thank you for all your advice and recommendations. We are done with dinner and the dishes and are relaxing. Hope your dinner is going well. Enjoy the weekend.

I hope baby girl enjoyed her 1st turkey! Did it make her sleepy? 😉
It was my 1st “yucky,” ok, sad Thanksgiving, but I truly am thankful for everything and everyone on my life, including you!
PS- I scored the Gwen Stefani UD pallette and I’m so thankful for that beauty!! 😉
Karen says
Hi Lauren,
Aww, I’m sorry to hear that it wasn’t that great for you. Did you manage to get a little bit of your Thanksgiving on, at least? I know you mentioned going to Whole Foods to get some T-Day noms. I’m glad though that you’re still able to see the bright side of things, because yes, there’s so much to be thankful for. (I’m thankful that I’ve gotten to know you!)
Yay, and I’m so glad you were able to grab the palette. Did you get it in-store or did you order it?
And lol, yeah, Baby Girl loved turkey and all the fixings, I think. She was also very excited for all the activity! My brother came over and spent the day and night with us, which is always fun.
Renee says
