Oh, yes. Definitely.
I think I photograph better from the right — so the right side of my face.
From the left, I swear, I look like a linebacker! Like I could run you over in a hot second and chew you up afterwards. But from the right, I’m a normal girl. It’s the weirdest thing.
To me, in the pics where I’m facing left, something always looks wonky (for lack of a better word)…
I guess I should’ve paid closer attention to Tyra’s modeling advice on America’s Next Top Model…
But seriously, when I actually started thinking about where/how to position myself in front of the camera (like, by turning my body slightly so that I wasn’t facing directly at the lens, tilting my chin, that kinda thing), taking pictures that I liked got a whole lot easier.
How about you? For pictures, do you feel like you have a “good side”?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Since we’re on the topic of taking pics, here are some other posts you might like… 🙂

I don’t know if I have a better side but that’s very true that positioning yourself at an angle in relation to the camera helps a lot and makes your face more flattering. Something I learnt from my husband’s awesome photography tips! But to be honest, sometimes I hate every single picture he takes of me, no matter what position!

Oh yes. I pretty much only take photos with the left side of my face showing. I can’t even do straight on ones. I look like an alien from the right side, lol!

Oh yeah, I definitely have a good side and a bad side. Left is my good side. Right, always looks blah. And I also look weird when I directly face the camera. I am a weird-looking person I guess 😛

I think my right profile looks best, but I’ve been learning how to better pose since I’m shooting with better equipment and studio lights. My best tip would be to push your chin (and head) forward when posing for pics, this way you can avoid showing a double chin and you look slender.
I think I’m going to make a special post on my blog about this since it’s pretty cool to know how to pose 😀
Love,
Ana

I don’t know if I have a “good” side, but I do have a bad one: from the side. A true profile shot of me just doesn’t look very good. So, I avoid it.

Definitely turn right, chin down, but then, I’m a lefty!

Yes – definitely my left side! I don’t like the way I look when I look straight at the camera. From the right, my hair mostly covers my face. So basically all my profile pics look exactly the same!

I don’t know if I have a good side. I have learned that profile pics make my nose look too long and that tilting my head downward …even slightly…gives the impression of a double chin 🙁

I don’t have a good side. I look pretty crap left, right, front. Oh wait – the back’s the best!
You’re stunning in all photos, Karen. Who photographs you?
Divya says
ABSOLUTELY!! I have a tiny mole on the prettier side, lest I should get confused as to which side to pose! 😛 I am not even symmetrically “similar” way too different! One is definitely my mum and the other is distinctly dad! its sooo wierd! 😛

I don’t have a particular side I like better, I guess whichever side doesn’t have a zit! 😛
Fancie says
Yes! My right side. My face is small but chubby so full profile pics aren’t always flattering lol
Sara says
It’s my right for me as well. For some reason I used to prefer my left but I think now with a different hair cut, the way my hair frames my face etc etc makes it a lot easier to get good snaps on my right side!
Laarni says
I DO! My good side probably would be my right-hand side of my face!

My right side! I thought I was the only crazy one who thought I had a better side 😛
