Ouch, it’s the “all-time” part of the question that makes this one difficult. Do I go with the limited edition products that moved me to glittery tears (hello, Chanel Astral), or give love to my errr’day staples?
Hmm… I gotta go with the longer-term loves, the products I’ve worn every day, or almost every day, and rarely leave home without.
1. MAC Pro Longwear Concealer — Tricky to use, and the glass pump drives me batty, but I’ve yet to find a full-coverage under-eye concealer that works better for me (although theBalm’s Time Balm Concealer comes close).
2. MAC Face & Body — Easy to build up or sheer out, Face & Body is more flexible than my noodle arms after a yoga class, but more stable than a 200-year-old oak tree once you put it. Hands down, it’s my favorite foundation for dewy skin.
3. MAC Powersurge Eye Kohl — I kid you not; I have gone through seven or eight of these since discovering it in 2008, and my heart hurts a little every time I forget it at home when I leave the house. On the lower water line, this bad-@ss bronzy liner pencil is EVERYTHING. It brightens and opens the eyes wide, practically manga-style.
4. MAC Brun Eye Shadow — Brow filler, eye liner, smokey eye maker extraordinaire. Brun is a bonafide jack of all trades.
5. MAC Impassioned Lipstick — If our cruel alien/sentient computer overlords forced me to pick a single bright lipstick to wear for the rest of my life, I would pick Impassioned.
How about you? What are your five all-time favorite makeup/beauty products?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy hump day. 🙂
Twyla says
If only we stuck to our top 5 instead of having drawers/organizers/shelves filled with makeup from all brands under the sun… but my top 5 are:
1) Benefits “YES! They’re Real!” Mascara – Not only opens my eyes up to look awake but gives the illusion of longer lashes
2) NYX “Love in Rio – Cabana Boy” Eyeshadow Pallet – Great travel size Pallet that is similar to NAKED3 in colors & coverage but under $10.
3) NYX “Baked Blush” – Texture & Coverage comparable to MAC but under $10. Bought mine in USA since not avail til 2015 in Canada
4) BareMinerals “Original Foundation” in Matt – great coverage, easy to build upon for more coverage when needed. My face doesn’t feel like I’m wearing a mask.
5) EOS – lipbalm – I’ve tried almost all scents, I like the Coconut Milk the best.
I would love to find a good contour kit that works well with powder foundation as most I’ve found are cream based. Any Suggestions? Have you ever tried anything from ‘Motives’?
Trisha says
That’s a lot of MAC, Karen! 😉
This list is tough…
1. NYX Eyeshadow Base. This is great in all shades, but especially White. The best white base on the market, I’d say.
2. e.l.f. Eye Shadow Brush. Seriously, it’s only a dollar and still amazing. How can that even be possible? But it’s the best and most-used eye shadow brush I own.
3. Sinful Colors Nail Polish. Any of them, all of them. But especially Nirvana. It’s a muted light brown and it rocks my world.
4. L’Occitane Almond Supple Skin Oil. This murders all body oil/lotion competition. I rarely use it because I want my one bottle to last forever.
5. Cover FX Pressed Mineral Foundation. I ran out a few months ago and replaced it with a Benefit pressed powder foundation. The Cover FX one still holds a special place in my heart.
Sarah says
I really like your list! I’m going to check out the Cover FX Mineral Foundation. I still use Bare Minerals (no complaints!) but I’m growing more addicted to the Cover FX CC Cream by the day.
Karen says
Yeah, I know. I’ve worn the brand since the ’90s and just have so many staple loves!
Trisha says
I’ve never really gotten super into MAC. I have some of the eye shadows, but that’s it. I seem to be missing out!
(BTW, I mentioned you, and this post, on my blog today! Link’s below.)
Kiss & Make-up says
Hehe, I love your DIY airbag for the concealer 🙂
My top five would have to be:
– Smashbox Limitess Eye Liner
– Catrice Prime & Fine translucent powder (call me crazy but I really cannot live without it)
– Dior Pore Minimizer Skin Refining Matte Primer
– MAC eyeshadow in Embark
– NARS Exhibit A blush
Divya says
Easy Peasy!! in no particular order then,
1. Hourglass Radiant light powder
2. Chanel cream blush in destiny
3. Dior lip glow
4. Chanel Poudre Signee highlighter
5. Nars radiant creamy concealer
If I could cheat then I’d add mac face and body 😉 😉
Agata says
That’s not an easy question to answer but let’s see:
1. Revlon ColorStay 24 hr Foundation. I have been using it for years and I might switch to other foundations in between but I always come back to this one, it never disappoints me.
2. Maybelline The Falsies mascara. It’s the best mascara I have ever tried and I always have it in my makeup bag.
3. Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. I get the most use out of it and I love all the shades.
4. Hourglass Ambient Light Blush in Luminous Flush. There is so many blushes that are must haves for me but I think if I had to pick just one, this would be it.
5. Loreal Infallible Gel lacquer liner in Espresso. My favorite eyeliner, it’s perfect for my waterlines, it’s really waterproof, non-irritating and the color is perfect.
smeegal9 says
1. Too Face Eye shadow eye primer…my oily eyelis cant live without this.
2. EOS lip balm…I tried to hold out, but this is the best balm ever.
3. NYX Rootbeer eyeshadow…best non harsh crease
4. Makeup For Ever Aqua lip pencil in 11C. Best color my my lips ever
5. Trish McEvoy Jet Black Curling Mascara! I think the price went up because of me and how many people Ive turned on to this little gem!
Dominique says
Let’s go 🙂 even if it’s not easy !
1) Chanel JC blush in Rose Initiale
2) Nars duo in South Pacific
3) Chanel CC Cream
4) Burberry matte lipstick in Military Red
5) Benefit They’re Real
That is for today lol, tomorrow is definitely another day 🙂
Karen says
That’s the right attitude, Dominique!
kim says
1) nars tinted moisturizer
2) UD naked setting powder
3) Maybelline bad to the bronze color tattoo shadow
4) tarte tipsy blush
5) UD bourbon eyeliner
Jacob's Mom says
All-time favorites:
1. Urban Decay Primer Potion – the only way to keep stuff from sliding off my eyelids!
2. MAC Studio Fix Fluid in NW35 is spot on, color wise and I can sheer it out by adding a luminizer or moisturizer.
3. MAC Charcoal Brown – my eyebrows, but better
4. Bobbi Brown lip color in Raisin – I’ve used up 6+ tubes of this, my holy grail, desert island lipstick
5. Le Volume de Chanel mascara
Sarah says
I love this question!
1. They’re Real! mascara by Benefit. It makes my eyes pop in a way only Benefit can make possible.
2. Chanel Illusion D’Ombre eyeshadow cream in Fatal. This little creamy pot of gold goes with anything and stays all day. If I literally have two minutes, this is my go-to every time!
3. Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer. I bought it because I find the name hilarious – and it’s never let me down!
4. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Junkie. I actually pair it up with the Chanel Fatal for a tropical sunset look. Water lines and above the lashes. The green is perfect yet dark.
5. And finally, if I can only pick one more: Urban Decay Eyeshadow in Oil Slick. I have green eyes and this delicious shadow is what I use to dark my look into a smokey eye. It goes on black with plenty of sparkle and just a hint of green/purple when it hits a certain light. It makes the green in my irises POP and I wish to be buried in it.
Erica says
I am laughing with you Karen, I have my pro concealer rubber banded like that too (and mine is virtually empty ready for back 2 mac). Yes, Mac Powersurge is the business, I use mine at least 2x a week all year round,
1. Laura Mercier caviar sticks – plum, jungle and sapphire.
2. Hakuhodo makeup brushes – all of them!
3. Mac Texture e/s: my go to transition shade.
4. OPI San Tantonio nail polish. My go to neutral shade.
5. Nars Blushes: Liberte, Taj Mahal, Dolce Vita. I’m sorry, I can’t pick between my favorite children.
Kalli says
1) Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Sin, it’s my errrrthang and I wear it basically everyday because I have yet to find an eyeshadow color it doesn’t work with. I’ve gone through multiple tubes and always buy a backup at Ulta when they do their 20% off anything coupon.
2) Maybelline The Colossal Volum Express mascara is blackest black. I try others but always come back to this. Always a backup or 2 in the drawer.
3) Nars Orgasm blush. I don’t wear it as much as I used to, but every time I do wear it I’m reminded of how pretty & luminous it looks. I’ve gone through several pans.
4) Hard Candy Glamoflage concealer. This stuff covers everything and a little goes a long way and one tube last FOREVER. Seriously, I bought mine over a year ago and use it everyday and I think I’m like halfway through it?
5) Nars Dressed to Kill lipstick, I love love love it. I’ve worn it to the office, I’ve worn it on the weekend with jeans and a t-shirt and I even wore it as a bridesmaid in my friend’s destination wedding in Greece because it complemented my bridesmaid dress so beautifully. It’s really so pretty and striking while also being subtle, if that makes any sense.
UGH, these were hard! And there’s like at least 10 more lippies I would add to that list.
Kim says
Happy Wednesday – I was glad to see that you weren’t too shaken up. We’ve been out of town (and I’m never up to date on the news, anyway) but when I heard about the earthquake, I was hoping everything was OK! 🙂
I feel like kind of a cheat because I’m not sure I’ve used a wide enough variety of products to make a very fair favorites list but, here they are:
1. YSL Faux Cils mascara
2. Chanel Malice blush
3. Tarte BB/Tinted moisturizer
4. UD 24/7 liner in Whiskey
5. NARS Pro Prime
Karen says
Well you just made me so, so happy! I love ALL of the items on your list too. 🙂 Even though it’s been a minute since I’ve worn Tarte in a minute I remember liking it very much.
I would say my work here is done but I still want to get you in shimmer eyeshadow and false lashes!
Kim says
Yay! I was torn between YSL and Chanel Le Volume, which was another of your great recs!
May your work never be done – your blog is one of my very favorite things!! 🙂 You’ll definitely get me into the false lashes – maybe the shimmer for Halloween. HAHA!

Hi Karen, Your concealer looks like a mummy on Halloween! So cute!
My top fives (tough decision) are:
1) Bobbi Brown cream shadow in Beach Honey – that sucker doesn’t move & is a great base for the rest of my eye shadows!
2) Bobbi Brown lip balm in the silver pot – hands down the best lip balm I have ever tried (and I’ve tried them all). My lips just aren’t the same without it, especially since I live in a DRY climate.
3) Bobbi Brown cement eye shadow – the only transition color I need for my pasty skin!
4) Burberry lip glow Cameo Pink #7 – the most beautiful lip color and so glossy.
5) Chanel nail polish in Black Pearl – Stunning!
Karen says
LOL, yeah! There is a method to the madness. I dropped a brand new bottle on the floor once and it shattered. The rubber bands help cushion any potential falls! 🙂
Rachel R. says
1. BareEscentuals loose powder foundation in Fair. It matches my skin color and doesn’t turn orange. I can’t feel it when I wear it. I only need a little. If I need to cover a zit or something, it’s easy to build up the color.
2. BareEscentuals loose mineral veil in Translucent. Underneath the foundation, it keeps me oil free. On top, it sets makeup and combats oil.
3. BareEscentuals Rose Radiance all-over face color. Perfect shade and shimmer for my really pale skin. When I first started wearing it, people would tell me how good I looked or how much healthier I was looking (including my doctor). They couldn’t tell why I looked better. Perfect!
4. Tarte Amazonian clay gel eye liners. I’m in love with these. So smooth, beautiful and easy to use.
5. Nu Skin Tru Face Line Corrector: I’m almost 45, and I’ve only been using this for a couple months. I wanted to combat crepiness and the lines around and under my eyes. My crow’s feet are almost gone! The crepey eyelids are 90% gone. The deep creases under my eyes are much improved, and the fine lines are mostly gone.
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
Umm… so that Nu Skin product sounds fab! Does it layer well under eye makeup?
Rachel R. says
Yes, it absorbs really quickly. No greasy residue. My manicurist turned me onto it.
Chelsea says
Ooh, this is tough!
1. Chanel Inimitable Intense mascara in noir! I used to be a mascara junkie, wanting to try everything in search of something better, but this is my holy grail. Volume, length, and separation, no itching, no burning…
2. Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer in Ivory. Love this for my under eyes, even covering up redness. I’ve repurchased this more times than I can count.
3. Chanel Stylo Waterproof. The only pencil eyeliners I’ve ever liked. (although I’m wanting to try the new MUFE pencils)
4. Paula’s Choice Clear 2% BHA regular strength exfoliant. I’m always trying new skincare products, but this is a consistent performer.
5. Does Olive Oil count? Nothing makes my nails look as nice. Oh, and the UK version of RapidLash, I swear my lashes look longer, but this is a recent addition.
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
Ya know, that is a wonderful mascara. It’s been years since I’ve worn it, but I think I need to go back eventually.
And yes, olive oil counts. I will have to try that on my nails! Do you just use regular old olive oil from the kitchen?
Chelsea says
Yup, just plain olive oil!
Cathy says
Chelsea, I’ve been using Rapidlash (bought in the UK), and it really is amazing stuff. It took longer than the time they suggest to make a difference, but I persevered. I saw quite a difference, but what told me that it actually works, was when I went to both the Laura Mercier and Clinique counters for some make-up testing, and both the consultants asked me if I was wearing false eyelashes.
Chelsea says
I was really surprised!
Ashley says
1. Smashbox BB Creme – Just enough coverage and I like how they have different skin tones instead of a one color suits all formula.
2. Benefit They’re Real mascara – Doesn’t flake or get clumpy! I like the end of the wand as well and I just glide that along my bottom lashes instead of using the whole brush.
3. Urban Decay eyeshadow primer – Nothing budges!
4. Urban Decay De Slick Setting Spray – Controls my combination skin even during the Texas heat!
5. Stila Stay All Day Liquid Eyeliner – For the dummy-proof cat eye!
Fancie says
1. Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade – I have sparse brows so filling them in daily is a must! I love this stuff because it has good coverage and lasts me all day without any fading
2. NARS Instant Line & Pore Perfector – My forehead is always super shiny so I love using this primer to keep it matte and oil free. It also makes a great base for my concealer too.
3. Makeup Forever Camouflage Cream Palette – I mostly only use 2 shades lol but I still couldn’t live without it! The darkest shade makes a great contour and the orange corrector really helps with dark spots and discoloration.
4. Revlon Nearly Naked Foundation – This foundation has the most natural, flawless finish and it’s a perfect match. I’m always reaching for it
5. Makeup Forever Pro Finish Powder – It’s great to use alone or with liquid foundation. Plus it soaks up shine and has a natural finish too.
I couldn’t bring myself to pick any lippies. That’s way too much commitment lol
Ericca says
1. MAC Ruby Woo. The best red lipstick ever.
2. MAC select cover up
3. MAC Face and Body. Dry Skin approved!
4. Iman BB Cream Women of color need to jump on this bandwagon.. great color options for darker skin.
5. MAC Sweet as Cocoa Blush
Vanessa says
Karen, I might just have to try the pro long wear concealer after I’ve finished my current one. I’ve seen you mention it so many times! How does it work on blemishes?
Cathy says
Would you believe I don’t have top favourites! I rarely buy anything twice, only because once finished, something bigger, better and infinitely more fabulous has come out and says ‘Buy me!’ very, very loudly! But I love seeing what everyone else’s favourites are…
FreshEyre says
Oh, do I LOVE this question !!! This goes along with the five books I’d take to a totally deserted island and, yes, I’d still be wearing makeup !
1. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide On Eyeliner in Perversion – Blackest of the black, easy to blend, unmatched for the smoky eye. I have seven of them – you know, just in case…
2. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shameless Bold Blush in Outspoken – an odd, lovely, lilac pink that I love nonetheless. I hit pan TWICE in less than a year, but I use it as pseudo-eyeshawdow as well. Worth every penny.
3. Benefit Gimme Brow – a life-saver for those of us with rapidly dwindling brows. Never makes you look like that weird aunt (you know we all have one !) who perpetually looks surprised ! Just fuller, healthier versions of your own brows.
4. Stila Forever Your Curl Mascara – it works ! It curls ! Doesn’t flake and gives awesome fullness without too much length, which I find irritating. Not too hard to remove, either. I probably have half a dozen stashed all over so I’m never without my supply.
5. Worth noting is the discontinued perfection of Clinique’s La-La Lilic Lipgloss, but I’ve found a great replacement (not quite a dupe) in Buxom’s Full-On Lip Polish in Dolly. I’ve had DOZENS of tubes and it just never gets old. Seems to go with every look I can can come up with and is never sticky – the lip-plumping is just a added bonus !
Can’t I add just more please ? Just one bottle of Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion ? I’ve been using it for nearly 30 years and am routinely pegged as 10 or more years younger than my real age. Miracle in a Bottle.
Thanks for the great question, Karen – may your awesomeness continue all week !
Diana says
1. Revlon Colorstay Makeup for Oily/Combination Skin. The best coverage with the lowest price.
2. Revlon Colorstay Lip Color. It can last for hours even after drinking/eating.
3. Natural Honey Hand & Body Lotion. Drugstore lotion that works just as well as, or even better than, high-end one.
4. Oriflame Wonderlash Waterproof Mascara. Great result even for beginners!
5. NYX Soft Matte Lip Color.
Doreen G. says
1. All Hakuhodo makeup brushes…cant be without them.
2. Shu eumera lightbulb foundation..dewy never greasy, lasts all day, med. to full coverage.
3. Eve Lom face cleanser
4. Houglass ambiant powder palette
5. Mac pro sculpt powder in sculpt
6. Nars blush orgasam
I know i cheated but i couldn’t help myself and there is alot more!!
Paddychat says
Oh, difficult…
1- Nars sheer glow foundation Fidji
2- make up forever poudre libre transparente
3- Nars, Guerlain (limited éditions) and Estee Lauder blushes
4- Clinique butter shine in Apricutie, or Pink a boo
5- Dior lipstick Mazette and Trafalgar
Voilà !
Trude says
Ooo this is a hard one! Repurchased, can’t-travel-without faves are (that I can fake a full face with):
1) Benefit They’re Real mascara
2) Mac Studio Fix powder compact
3) Anastasia brown pencil
4) Too Faced Milk Chocolate bronzer (also use it as an eyeshadow in the crease)
5) Urban Decay eye primer potion
Katherine M says
Love all the MAC 🙂 When you find an awesome brand, stick with it!
I love a lot of makeup, and have drawers/makeup bags full of it, but here are the top 5 I reach for often….
1) Physician’s Formula Super CC Cream. Love the coverage and the formula. In the same category, L’Oreal Visible Lift CC cream is tied with Physician’s Formula. Great coverage and benefits making both good day anti-aging creams.
2) NARS Orgasm, in either powder or Multiple form. I haven’t yet found another blush that looks quite so good on me.
3) Laura Mercier liner in Stormy Grey. There’s something about her liners in general that seem to enhance my eyes but yet still be neutral. Stormy Grey is super flattering and interesting, and plays well with many different shadows.
4) For mascara, I love a few, but L’Oreal Butterfly makes me look like I’m wearing really good fake lashes. It enhances well and doesn’t flake. Fave drugstore mascara out of the many I own and have tried right now.
5) Physician’s Formula bronzers come in many different forms (matte, shimmery, etc) and are usually pretty natural and flattering. I like to use them to contour and add a little warmth.
Jennifer X says
Revlon Colorstay Whipped – works wonderfully on my skin, color matches near perfectly, doesn’t look weird as it wears off.
NARS blush in Deep Throat – Great on my skintone and I don’t think I ever have a bad application of it.
Wet-n-Wild eyeshadow trio in Silent Treatment – I like all three colors and have so far liked the look every time I’ve used it.
Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Enhancing Eyeliner trio – I am not skilled with eyeliner, but I can get this one to work and to not smudge where I don’t want it to be.
MAC lipstick in Moxie – it’s LE, but I’d want MAC to bring it back permanently, at least as long as I am alive. It’s difficult for me to choose a lip product but if I had to, Moxie.
Jen says
1. MAC Brule eye shadow
2. Maybelline Full n’ Soft black mascara
3. MAC Prep & Prime highlighter in Radiant Rose
4. Bobbi Brown Corrector in Extra Light Bisque
5. MAC blush in Prim and Proper (Liberty of London collection)
Grace says
I don’t really wear that much makeup as I mostly wear the ‘natural’ look.. so haven’t tried that many products.. but I do love looking/reading about it! Products of my personal faves are:
1. Becca’s shimmery skin perfecter (liquid)
2. Smashbox Lash Exposure
3. Mac’s beauty powder in Her Own Devices (limited edition, so I’m gonna have to hunt for a dupe!)
4. Shu’s eyelash curler
5. can’t think of a fifth one! The other products that I use I feel can be interchanged with different brands. I really want to try Mac’s Face and Body, is it similar to Laura Mercier’s tinted moisturizer? I’m quite a fan of it but I think she changed the formula because my newer bottle is more watery/thin so it’s not as buildable as my older one.
And I’m always on the hunt for a good concealer, so thanks for mentioning TheBalm.. gotta check that one out! I tried Mac’s other concealer in studio finish, but it seemed to emphasize any dryness/flaky skin.
Grace says
Oh actually, my number five would be Josie Maran’s Argan Oil Light..
Amanda says
This is tough but I’m in. Ok here goes
1. The Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua compact creme foundation. It’s just super easy and pretty and glow giving. Perfect for a quick face day.
2. The Diorshow Iconic Curl or something like that. (I’m too lazy to get up and check exact name. ) I don’t know, I still think mascara opens my eyes a lot. And this ones everything.
3. MAC creme blush in Lady Blush. So natural, so pretty.
4. A YSL or Chanel nude or peachy pinky lipstick but the sheer ones.
5. A thicker eye cream- Olay, Chanel, Kiehls and a moisture rich anti aging serum are tied for 5. If skincare even counts!
Amanda says
Karen, is the Powersurge eye kohl a brightener? Or a liner that’s extra brightening?
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
It’s a golden bronze kohl liner. Not a brightener, per se, but if you use it on the water lines it can open up the eye (much in the same way a white or a flesh-toned pencil does). Does that make sense?
Ashleigh says
Happy hump day 🙂
1. Too Faced eyeshadow primers
2. Smashbox Always Sharp Liner
3. EcoTools brushes
4. Revlon Lip Butters
5. YSL glossy stain | Pixi bronzer | Mac Soft and Gentle
I’m cheating, the last one is a 3-way tie 😉
Chelsea says
1. Burt’s Bees Lip Balm
2. Fresh Island Reverie Face Palette (I will keep it even when the makeup runs out because the mirror is perfect! Plus, the blush & bronzer make the best glow.)
3. Benefit They’re Real! Mascara
4. NYX Eyebrow Cake Powder (best when topped off with the NYX Control Freak Eyebrow Gel)
5. Essie Nail Polish in Cocktails & Coconuts (a nude must)
Jen says
Ooh this is tough but I’m going to try anyway!
1) Shu Uemura Eyelash curler. Can’t. Live. Without. Only curler that curls my stubborn lashes without pinching my eyelids (which are less curved than most, if you know what I mean..)
2) Deja Vu fiberwig 3D mascara – doesn’t clump or flake, curls my lashes and gives LOTS of length. Removes easily with warm water but foes not smudge once it dries.
3) Duo eyelash brush-on glue. I’m a klutz! No way I can apply false lashes without this!
4) Thebalm timebalm concealer – I’ve ‘industrial strength’ heriditary dark eye circles and this does the job.
5) Ettusais mineral bb cream. When I’m rushing to leave the house on most mornings I just slap on this and go! It’s great for my combination-oily skin and the darkest shade (yes it has 3 shades) suits me!
Looking at this list I’m surprised at the number of Japanese products! I guess it’s a great testimony to how great the Japanese are at making great makeup!
If I could add more, it’ll be:
6) Sigma F82 Round Kabuki brush – this one I use to apply foundations and bb creams!
7) Sugar lip treatment in tulip!
Rae says
1. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil Matte Bronzer.
2. MAC 3D Extended Play Mascara.
3. MAC Pro LongWear Foundation and Burt’s Bees Milk & Honey Body Lotion Combined.
4. Maybelline Define a Brow Pencil.
5. MAC Ruby Woo Lipstick.
zFashionizta says
1 – Cover FX primers *I have dry skin and this is the only primer that works for me
2 – MAC MODEST TONE EYE SHADOW *this is my HG, it goes with everything and I swear this nude color was made for me!
3 – Benefit They’re Real Mascara
4 – Tarte CC Matte Palette *I have worn this palette almost every day since purchasing it, YES, I got a backup

1) Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
2) Nars Radiant Tinted Moisturiser
3) Chanel Rouge Coco Shine…any
4) Nars blush…any
5) Nars lipgloss in Risky Business, Ophelia and Sweet Revenge
Nicole says
This is tough, but I’ll give it a go..
1. Jane Iredale’s Pressed Powder Foundation
2. Illamasqua’s blush in Katie, still have no idea why or how I haven’t hit the pan yet
3. Armani’s sheer lipstick in brown 202, a my lips but better lipstick
4. Any of the Dior Addict Fluid Sticks
5. Nars Dual Intensity Eyeshadow, especially Callisto
Fran says
This is tough — but based on what I wear on a daily basis and have repurchased the most (in other words, workhorses rather than colors that make me swoon or products I have the most fun with):
1. Silk Naturals Smooth & Full lip treatment — keeps my lips looking full, not 58
2. MAC Paint Pot in Painterly — the best eyeshadow base, covers all my veins, makes eyeshadows vibrant and crease-free. As my skin is changing from oily to dry I may have to find something similar but more moisturizing, however 🙁
3. Anastasia Lash Genius — all mascaras smudge on me; this makes almost any mascara smudge-proof.
4. Tarte tinted moisturizer — I need a base with significant SPF from zinc oxide and titanium dioxide, and this one, while a bit sheer, works with a wide range of concealers and other products, is durable, and has a beautiful finish.
5. Anastasia tinted brow gel in Espresso — I have a few bright white hairs that stand out like searchlights in my otherwise dark brows, and this little gem covers them up while taming my brows and is not too red or too golden.
If I was going to make a list of the five products I have the most fun with, I would include
1. Urban Decay The Electric palette
2. Too Faced eye shadow palettes (can’t pick just one)
3. Urban Decay 24/7 eye liner pencils — they have the best colors ever!
4. Inglot eye shadows in Z-palettes
5. the new Make Up Forever eye shadow make-your-own palettes are fast making their way up this list
Can you tell I like to have fun with eye shadow?
Then there are brushes… don’t get me started! Wayne Goss brushes… Billy B. brushes… Sephora Pro brushes… MAC toothbrush-shaped brushes… IT Cosmetics brushes… want to try some of the new MUFE brushes… and the Too Faced eye shadow brushes…
CJ says
Reading all of these answers is making it harder – I love so many of the things people are saying!
1. MAC Studio Fix in NW13 (I’m a ghost).
2. Buxom lipgloss in Katie – I give this as a gift to anyone and everyone – it’s the perfect pink.
3. NARS Deep Throat blush.
4. MAC eyeshadow in Sable.
5. Bumble and bumble Invisible Hairdresser’s Oil. This stuff calms frizz like nobody’s business and leaves your hair silky and shiny with one pump and doesn’t weigh it down.
Melissa m. says
I love reading everyone’s favorites!! I am writing a lot of them immediately my wish list!! Yes I have an actual wish list (on paper) in my purse at all times. So here are mine:
1. Urban Decay 24/7 liquid eyeliner in perversion
2. Urban decay 24/7 Liner in Vice
3. Urban Decay Naked pallete
4. Bare Minerals Mineral Veil

Ooh, I love the challenge of making an all-time favorites list! Here goes:
1. L’Oreal True Match liquid foundation. It’s my go-to on any given day that I’m doing a full face of makeup.
2. Kat Von D True Romance Ladybird palette (especially the shades Unrequited and Harlow- amazing crease colors!)
3. Jordana Best Lash Volumizing Extreme Mascara
4. Fresh Sugar Tinted Lip Treatments (can’t really afford them anymore but I love the formula/scent/tint to pieces!)
5. Milani Baked Blush in Luminoso

Yup it does make sense and I think I’m going to try this I’ve been looking for something like that and anything too dark is so not right for my face. I like the bronze idea. Thanks!

I am a prolongwear concealer addict too! Here goes my list:
1. MAC Prolongwear foundation
2. MAC Prolongwear concealer
3. Bobbi Brown long wear eye pencil
4. Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Venise or MAC lipstick in Retro (always thought I liked Venise more than Retro but last month had a self-realisation moment with Retro, so putting in both!)
5. MAC Veluxe brow liner

This is a difficult question! In my mind, I think of all of the sparkly, pretty products (NARS Tropic eyeshadow comes to mind first) but going through my drawers full of products, those are have been loved and used are:
Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner
Bobbi Brown Concealer
NARS Multiple
Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel
Chanel Blush
I am cheating a little by not giving exact shades but whew – this is tough!
