Yup, I totally do. I’ve been holding on to a fresh tube of MAC Vegas Volt Lipstick (a coral with an Amplified Creme finish) so that I could wear it in Las Vegas.
You know, just a thing to do. Sometimes it make events more fun. 🙂
I also save certain perfumes for big events, like I waited years — no kidding, actually years — to wear Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue on my wedding day. I tried it on at Sephora, but I waited until my wedding day to wear it.
Do you ever do stuff like that? Save makeup or a perfume or something for a certain occasion? Inquiring minds want to know…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

lovely! I’ve never really saved up make-up for any special occasions, but now, lemme think about it!
Sarah says
I do the same for special days. It makes the event more exciting. Plus I get tons of stuff to look forward to. The anticipation. 🙂

Eee I love Vegas Volt on you!!! I don’t tend to save anything for any occasion, though I’ll be happy to take lipsticks such as YSL Pink in Paris and Marcelle Paris Rose with me when I visit Paris, for example 🙂

Hmmm…not in the same symbolic way as you do. For example, I tend to only break out higher coverage foundation and primer for special occasions, nights out or when a lot of photos will be shot (which is not that often for me). Smokey eyes or a bright lip too.

awww! i love LOVE vegas volt! it really goes well with you! forreal, said “AWWWW!” aloud, alone in my room, as i read that you saved D&G light blue, for your wedding day 🙂
are you in begas right meow? wha whaaaat?! have fun! i’m back in nor*cal! headed to the bay saturday. ugh, so STOKED! have fun in sin city!
as for saving make up…i save my bobbi brown make up for special occasions, now. :/ my everyday make up is revlon. oh sequestration….
i do line my eyes when it’s date night. yes, i have been venturing out of my comfort bubble. i still can’t deal with my water line, or liquid liner for a cat eye. one day 🙂
have fun! 😀
Paddychat says
YES ! Especially nail polishes and lipsticks, because that’s a way, a pleasant way, to anticipate happy events.
I don’t know if my explanation is clear :-((
Best regards

yeah I do on very special occasions 😛

i did exactly the same thing! 🙂 i was in vegas two weeks ago and bought vegas volt shortly before my trip just to wear it there. i also love to wear lipsticks, nail polishes etc. with names like hibiscus, hawaiian punch and so on when i’m in hawaii (or chanel’s miami peach when i’m travelling to florida). my husband and friends think i’m crazy – but i just can’t help it!

never saved makeup, maybe perfume

Hi,
Love the lipstick on you, looks great! I saved Viktor Rolf-flowerbomb for my wedding day 2 months ago and it felt really special on the day as in our culture you have to be adorned in a dress and jewellery your fiance gives you, this added a special touch as he bought me this too. I save certain lipsticks for certain outfits i.e my burnt red bobbi brown lipstick with my red dress. Makes it extra special!

I don’t think I’ve ever saved up, but I’m sure I’ll find a product to do that with.
Chech says
I think I do that mostly with perfumes. The problem now is that I saved them for too long and now I have a lot of them haha.
I do save some expensive stuff, for example, I got “Confessions of a Conceaholic” from benefit. And here in Argentina it’s not only difficult to get but also very expensive. I’m in love with Lemon aid, but I don’t wanna use it every morning because I don’t want it to finish!!

I do! I’ll even do it with clothes and jewellery as well sometimes… But make up wise I have a gold and purple duochrome eyeshadow that I saved to wear for my Prom and now I save the same eye make up (gold lids with a muted purple in the crease and purple black winged lined – tres fancy and elegant) for special occasions and when I want to feel oh so fancy 🙂
And I bought the bright fuchsia one of the new Bourgeois Shine Edition lipsticks to wear for a big birthday night out in Edinburgh. Every time I wear it now, I’m reminded of that amazing night out and my birthday!

I haven’t done this but I think its a fun idea! I don’t have very much willpower though and I like to wear the good stuff on regular days to help make them seem special.
kim says
I really only do this with nail polish. I have a hot pink, glow in the dark polish that i am about to bust open tonight, for a music festival this weekend.
Angel L says
I do this with perfume and lipsticks. I have a Dior lipstick that I bought for my 25 HS reunion and now I wear it when dressing up(it really goes best with a smokey eye). For perfume I have my fall/winter and spring/summer plus a few I only wear when I want to smell glamorous (which lately has been less and less haha)
Brianna says
I totally do this as well. I save my red lipstick for Christmas-time and I have another new tube of lipstick I’m saving for a friend’s wedding in a few weeks!

I did for my wedding when I bought one of the Benefit neutral palettes (I was out buying wedding-specific makeup at the time), and I’ve bought stuff and saved it for vacations or events in my life before. I also have makeup that is interview or professional – specific and won’t really wear it except for that (UD Bourbon, Sonia Kashuk Moroccan Dunes, the new Sonia Kashuk Eye on Neutral palette). Or, I won’t wear much of a palette if it’s limited edition and I won’t get to buy it again unless it’s made part of the permanent line.
Kiss & Make-up says
I used to do that, but I stopped. Now I just wear my favorite products on a daily basis. They cost me enough, so why not enjoy them as much as I can right!
Chic Lapin says
Sometimes! If the Boyfriend buys me a new palette or something for my birthday/anniversary I do wait and wear it that day! 💞💄
Paige says
I do save certain makeup for special occasions! I bought a Chanel lipstick in Gabrielle last year, and I refused to start wearing it because I wanted to wait for a really nice occasion to “break ground”. Alas, till now I have yet to touch the lippie. I do not know why am I waiting so long, lol!
Rachel P says
I don’t think I do this exactly as described, but it’s a nice idea! I rotate tons of different makeup, perfume, and product in general on a day-to-day basis, but I tend to save my Miss Dior Cherie Eau de Parfum for special occasions, just because it is quite expensive, concentrated and was limited edition! And while usually I throw caution to the wind and have an “anything goes” attitude, there are certain perfumes I haven’t bought yet because I want to grow into them first. Not because I think they smell old-lady or anything, but I think I need the maturity to wear them! If that makes sense? For instance, YSL Opium is gorgeous but I think, “I can’t pull this off yet!”
Natalye says
I love that you waited until your wedding day to wear the perfume, that makes it all the more special :). There are times when I know exactly what makeup product I want to wear for a certain occasion but I don’t wait to wear them, I’m too impatient lol!
Iris says
I totally have. I have a few perfumes I only wear for work meetings and others I wear while on vacation. I saved a few crow and raven inspired perfumes for my trip to Vancouver.
