Top o’ the mornin’ to ya, ladies!
Well, top o’ the late mornin’/early afternoon. 🙂
It’s almost spring, and soon we’ll bid bon voyage to the blizzards still buffeting the Northeast and elsewhere, and the seasons WILL change, which for me means packing away the heavier perfumes like Stella, Coco Mademoiselle and Givenchy Irresistible and busting out some lighter, fresher scents for a time.
A few of my warm weather standbys? — Prescriptives Sheer Calyx Exhileration, Kenzo Eau de Fleur de The Tea and Bath and Body Works Rainkissed Leaves, but I also plan on adding a few new fragrances to the rotation like CK One Summer and Eternity Summer (the pics above).
- CK One Summer ($44): A citrusy unisex scent with notes of watermelon, pear, mandarin, lime, violet leaves, marigold, verbena, water lily, musk and vetiver
- Eternity Summer for Women ($54): A watery floral with notes of grapefruit, ginger, passion flower, peony, freesia and musk
Do the seasons influence your fragrance choices, and are there any scents you come back to year after year?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Have a wonderfully lucky St. Patrick’s Day, gals. 🙂 Are you wearing green?
lexi says
Yes girl it does. This is the only time of year where I start checking out body sprays by Victoria’s Secret for something light and tropical smelling. Right now they got a whole tropical island thing going on. So either I wear something citrusy or coconutty. I wore a sample of Miss Dior Cherie all day yesterday. That’s another top runner-up for a new spring/summer scent.
Vonvon says
My all time fav scent is floral, Rose especially. And Citrus. Perhaps we don’t have the 4 seasons here….so my preference for scent remains quite constant.

I’m an oriental or woody-oriental perfume kind of girl. I love the scent of amber, musk, patchouli, and sandalwood. I may switch to a slightly lighter oriental, currently testing out a sample of Kenzo Amour Florale. I just don’t like a strong scent of flowers, it gives me a headache. I love smelling the samples though. Or I got so sick of smelling the scents from Vicky’s thanks to the girls I went to high school, who felt that putting body spray and the heavy scented lotions on during class were a good idea. My mom switches up during the seasons, it always is a nice surprise when I get a hug and smell Chanel No. 5 again.

Gmawnin, Karen!!!
There are scents I always come back to. Im very partial to vanilla notes as well as scents that smell like soap. Current faves include the CLEAN line and Dior J’Adore. All time faves include D&G Light Blue (so girly) and Elizabent Arden’s Green Tea.
I like BandBWorks Sea Island Cotton (used to be Cotton Blossom) and Brown Sugar Vanilla too. Theres a cologned from Spain that my cousin gifted me with called DeNeNes by Puig and thats one of my faves – smells like a baby that just got out of a bath!!!!

I have an embarassing amount of perfumes and I do change them out seasonally. I want all of them to get a chance to be worn!
I go with more flowery scents in the spring. My faves are Kai perfume oil and Monyette Paris perfume oil. So yummy!
Candi says
i tend to wear summery scents all year round just cuz i love the smells.
.-= Candi’s last blog post… candiDUH: hopefully ross and kmart have what i’m looking for tomorrow (: =-.

I don’t have that much perfume, because it’s hard for me to find scents I like or ones that don’t turn on me. I apparently have a body chemistry adverse to most perfume. I tend to let my mood rather than the seasons affect what I wear. My faves are Hermes Eau de Marveilles, Marc Jacobs Ivy, and Clean Provence.
I am not wearing green today. I have had a hard enough time getting ready for work this week wihtout having to worry about holiday colors. 🙁 The time change is still kicking my ass and the changing of the seasons makes it difficult for me to figure out what to wear.

Top o’ the morning back atcha! 🙂
My fragrance choices are influenced by everything! The weather, my mood, my clothing selection, what I had for breakfast…. This morning I pulled out a sample of CK Euphoria Blossom (love, I think I’m going to cave on this soon) and topped it with a spritz of Hermes Kelly Caleche (I’ve been feelin’ the leather lately)! A very nice, light blend of florals with a hint of clean leather, I’m really diggin’ on this combo!
Oh, and I busted out a green and gold St. Pat’s Day eye with Femme Fi, Warm Chill, the Kaska Beige quad and Black Jade eye pencil!
Alison says
I change depending on my mood, which quite often links to the weather or seasons. Recently I found myself feeling in a sunny spring mood and spritzed on Guerlain Lemon Fresca (unfortunatly they’ve discontinued this and I’m nearing the end of the bottle!) It lifts my spirits and makes me feel like spring has sprung.
Toward warm summer days I tend to bust out Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess which is summer in a bottle. All winter I have been using Coco Mademoiselle but like you when the weather starts to get warmer I gravitate towards fresher scents, Clinique Happy is another favourite at this time of year. But I want to give Chanel Chance eau Fraiche a try too maybe that will become another summer fave.

as i get migraines, i stick to my one favourite all year around. i absolutely adore Ralph Lauren Blue, although it has been discontinued for some time. plus, it’s the only scent that i can spray myself silly with and not feel sick or get a migraine. i’ve stocked up and have at least 2 extra bottle lying in my basement fridge! if i could, i’d so have different fragrances! all of those pretty bottles beckon me…
actually, Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom smells really lovely, but i don’t have access to it near by!
Kristine says
I’ve just busted out my Ralph and Issey Miyake, which I can’t wear in the fall or winter, and I love them! I am looking for an all-year staple perfume though.
Sally says
It definitely affects mine! In winter and other cold times (ha ha), I use the Victoria’s Secret Pink spray and lotion. In fall and spring (and occasionally when I just want to because it’s my favorite), I use G Harajuku Girls. In summer, I use a Gap Body spray. Gotta keep it simple!
Scientific Housewife says
I love wearing D&G The One all year long, it’s my favorite!
Liz Marie says
Definitely!! I lean towards flowery-spicy when its warm
Armani Black Code (signature & winter)
Dior Pure Poison (winter & when im upset)
Coco Mademoiselle (job meetings & spring & rainy days)
Viktor Rolf Flower Bomb (summer 🙂 )
…anythign with vanilla is good in summer 😀

Amber says
I like spicy, slightly masculine scents in the fall and winter. In summer I like Juicy Couture (smells like clean laundry once it mellows down) or Escada Island Kiss (smells like a fruity drink!).

CinCin says
YES i do ! im all scent type of girl ! I thinks perfumes has to work with the chemistry of your body and they way they vibe which each other ! Some scents are for everyone ! I love light floral scents which many other. I tend to wear heavy musk smells in the winter/fall and light perfumes in the summer. I have a range of perfumes that i rotate thru out the year. but my all time favorite is THE BEAT by Burberry. But i can’t wait to pull out light blue by D&G 🙂
Karen says
LOVE Light Blue as a summer scent! It has a special place in my heart ’cause I wore it on my wedding day.
Kristen says
Seasons absolutely determine scents.
During the summer, I wear Bobbi Brown Beach constantly. It’s my all-time fave scent. I also spritz on Bobbi Brown Bath in the summer because it’s light and fresh.
During the spring, I loooove Abercrombie & Fitch 41 perfume. To me, it screams warm weather, as I received it as a birthday gift (in April) 2 years ago. It reminds me of my first date with my boyfriend (which was just after my birthday — that same spring), when I wore it for the first time. Instant happiness!
And in winter (ugh), I wear Lovely by SJP. During fall like 7 years ago, I used to loove French Connection fcuk. It was musky and autumnal.
I’m not Irish, but I’m wearing green cause it’s my color!
Karen says
Bobbi Brown Beach is one of my faves too. It’s like the ocean in a bottle!
gio says
I love woody-oriental scents so I wear those all year round!

Karen says
Hi Gio,
Do you have a fave?
Catherine says
Oh yes. I really love warm vanillas in the wintertime, but they get to be a little too much in the summer heat, so i bust out my light and pretty fragrances. (Though, the light and pretty ones barely have any sillage when it’s cold!)
I don’t have that many fragrances right now, but my current ones for Spring/Summer are L’Occitane Green Tea and TBS Moroccan Rose. I’m still saving up for Jo Malone Fig & Cassis.
.-= Catherine’s last blog post… Product Focus: Laura Mercier Stickgloss =-.
Karen says
Hmm, I don’t think I’ve ever smelled L’Occitane’s green tea. I love green tea scents so I’ll put that on my list!
Arianne says
Yes definitely! I love lighter scents when the weather gets warmer. I like Clean Shower Fresh, Philosophy Amazing Grace, and (want. so. badly.) Dior Addict Shine EDT.
In the winter I wear D&G The One EDP. But I also wear that one during date nights. 😉
Wearing ALL OUT green today. I love being so theme-y. And it seems that everyone else got the memo and wore green today, so I look less clowny. 😛

Karen says
LOL! I love seeing folks in their green gear! 🙂
Happy St. Patrick’s day!
Karen B says
Usually I don’t change perfume’s. I’m very devoted to my Coco Mademoiselle 😉 But I do like the new Dior cologne ones. Escale à Pondichery is definitely on my list, it smells heavenly.

Sometimes I’ll wear scents I deem weather appropriate, and other times I just don’t care. Today, it was GORGEOUS in good old Boulder, CO. I spritzed on Chanel No. 5 and to be honest, kind of regretted it. I love the scent, but it just didn’t fit the weather. Today was more like an Escada Sunset Heat kinda day. Oh well!
Jessica says
My perfume choices are definitely based on seasons. Right now I’m loving D&G Light Blue–its so refreshing and uplifting, definitely gears me up for spring! I like to wear more tropical scents in the summer–I love Estee Lauder Bronze Godess, MIchael Kors Island and even Men’s Nautica Oceans. Winter I like heavier more vanilla type scents. Some scents I wear year round like Miss Dior Cherie and Harajuku Lovers Love. Hypnose Senses and Narciso Rodriguez are my fav. nighttime perfumes. I’m REALLY wanting Beyonce’s Heat–the perfect nightime summer scent.
Katie says
I had to laugh as I read the title, as I just got back from the mall. I bouht some home oil fragrances from the body shop that smell like coconut and ocean. So-yes the seasons def influence my home fragranc choices!:)
ines + cha cha says
when it get warmer i do put away my winter fragrances – they’re too rich for the heat… they include stella (which you have too!), etat libre d’orange rossy de palma, and bulgari blu (although i do wear this on cooler summer nights)…
but there are those that i do keep year round – including my beloved chloe.
if you want to try a good summer perfume, try juara tiare jasmine oil – smells like a lei!

absolutely, with the mix of sweat & perspiration, there is nothing worse than a typical musky, oriental scent in the heat. I save those from Fall/Winter, usually a D&G or Angel from TM. A line of fragrances that are light and floral and I always drift to are by Kenzo….if you’re looking for a nature based scent (other than dirt) I’d check them out a Sephora.
Marisol says
I don’t. I just wear whatever i feel like using that day.

Sometimes seasons affect my choice in fragrances and sometimes they don’t because I usually use by mood and whatever I want to dictate what I what do wear. Usually I like the fruity floral blends which are more summery, but I would wear it in the winter time sometimes because I like it and i want to.

Tocca’s Amalfi is a delicious summery scent, although I’ve worn it all winter long. It helps me get through the long winter months by reminding me of the sun, waves and sand.
Kim says
I’m going to really date myself by saying that I always have a bottle of Lou Lou by Cacharel on hand. That said, lately I’ve been wearing Lavanila’ s Vanilla Grapefruit – I have the rollerball, which I love, love, love. They’re pricey but really convenient, and you can’t accidentally over-saturate yourself!
ZDubb says
I’m so finnicky with my fragrance choices. My outfit and the weather that DAY affect my perfume choice. My standby spring/summer fragrance is D&G Light Blue. This year, I’ve been flirting with Viktor & Rolf Eau Mega and Miss Dior Cherie L’eau. I have YSL Parisienne, but sometimes I feel like it’s too heavy if the sun is shining!

Yes it does. When the weather gets warmer, I go for lighter, cleaner, and citrusy scents like CkOne, Glow, and Tommy Girl. When it gets cold, I go for more heavier, sweeter, muskier scents like Ck Obsession and Halle by Halle Berry.
