Hmm, my most cringeworthy beauty moment…
There are so many to choose from, but I think it was the time I took a purple and pink Dolce & Gabbana eyeshadow duo and, without much thought, plopped it on my eyes. And when I say, “without much thought,” I mean without much regard for blending or transition colors.
I put it on my eyes thinking that it looked OK, and then I took pictures of it for the blog (famous last words). I didn’t realize until afterward just how…not cute the look was.
Then I thought, “Well, geez, that looks pretty bad.”
Haha! To this day, I can’t believe I put that up. What the heck was I thinking??
I mean…
I should probably just delete that post now, but whatever. It’s up. It’s there. It’s part of me.
It’s funny, but it seems like if you spend too much time on Instagram, people have these perfect lives, but really, like, I’m making mistakes all the time, and they’re online, too!
But yeah, that was probably the most cringeworthy of the beauty cringeworthy. I’m sure that if I think hard enough, though, I’ll think of more, haha.
How about you? What’s your most cringeworthy beauty moment?
Next stop: Stars Hollow
Twenty-nine sleeps.
Twenty-nine sleeps until the gold… HAHA! I was going to say “The Golden Girls,” but I meant to say “Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life.”
GAHHH! So excited. I wish we could see each other right now because then we’d be doing mutual fist pumps in the air.
FIST PUMPS! I’m that stoked about the new episodes.
Last night I watched the new trailer, and I may or may not have watched it three times in a row. 🙂
Um, did I say that I’m really excited? Can’t wait to go back to Stars Hollow and see what the gang’s been up to.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Oh, that’s not cringe worthy. And I’m partial to pink! 🙂 Cringe worthy is like putting blush on quickly in low lighting and then having a passport or driver’s license pic taken and realizing you look like Bozo. I haven’t done that (yet) but I’m sure I could come up with a long list of similar “OMG, I should have looked in the mirror” moments. HAHA!

When I was a freshman I used to wear heavy eye makeup and falsies to class. But I never used a black liner with those lashes, nor did I ever curl my own lashes with the falsies to press them together. What a day look! Haha not.

I’m SO EXCITED for the girls too, I can’t stand it!! eee!! the preview was pretty much perfect, right??
my only problem, really, is the fact that I was having a *really* hard time seeing Paris, and not Bonnie from How to Get Away With Murder!! I’m sure it’ll be fine when watching more than just a snippet, but
I do wish they had changed her hair a bit!
but still! eee!!! 🙂 xx

Oh no, haha, yeaaaaah that wasn’t your finest make-up moment, haha 🙂 I’ve also had a few not-so-great beauty moments and one of them was more than just a moment: I overplucked my eyebrows BADLY for a couple years. Whenever I see those pics I’m like YEEEEK, KILL IT, KILL IT WITH FIRE!

Girl, I actually love the top pic look!
Um, mine was awhile ago. When I was 7 years old, I received for Christmas a cheapy girly makeup kit, replete with the most fall outy-ish shade of frosty white eye shadow and frosty pink lipstick.
That evening we were going to a Christmas party and I knew BOYS would be there. I wore my brand new Christmas dress (Mrs. Claus meets Holly Hobby deal), had my hair in a top knot, and lots of frosty stuff on the lids and lips. I thought the BOYS would just drop dead in their tracks, awed at the sight of my radiant, 7-year old beauty.
I walked slowly down the stairs to the basement where they were rough housing, anticipating the stares and got … NOTHIN’. No reaction whatsoever, not even so much as a glance. I slinked back up the stairs, feeling totally foolish and disappointed and sad.
In retrospect, very cringeworthy.

I tend to block cringe worthy makeup moments. Mostly they have to do with wearing red lipstick and forgetting to put a liner or primer on and then rubbing my lips together so that I end up with red lipstick way outside my lip line. So I look like some kind of crazy old lady. Usually the running red lipstick coincides with smudging liner and/or mascara, so I really look crazy.
What makeup are you wearing on your eyes in the top photo, because I really love that look.

I am super excited for the GG reboot! I can’t wait! 😀

Lol, Karen, if you could have seen me in the mid ’80s with a permed attempt at big hair and a full face of makeup (from the Prescriptives counter, so it wasn’t too bad) with bright, bright fuchsia lipstick when I wasn’t thirty yet… it was just too much. Looks great on my now, though (not the hair!! no permed hair, please!!!) the makeup, I mean, especially the bright fuchsia lipstick. (and why can I never remember how to spell fuchsia? it’s spelled just like f***sya, right?)
And last week I went out with a full face of makeup and forgot mascara… and just yesterday I wore a different earring in each ear… I could go on and on if I let myself think about it very much! I think we all have those moments…

Let’s see the Dorthy Hammel cut forced on me for years was pretty bad!

Love the eyeshadow colors, though! And I am re-watching Gilmore Girls in my down time, since it’s been AGES since I last watched it. Hmmmmm…. my most cringe worthy moments for makeup also included not blending well. I used to just slap it on and call it a day. Then would look in the mirror later and it had creased…smudged….you name it. Cringe-worthy for sure!

OH honey! That eyeshadow! I think my worst moment was when I colored my hair- naturally dark brown with red highlights- and it turned green. I don’t even remember what color I was going for.
I also admit to watching the GG preview several times and also to getting a little choked up when they’re at the cemetary. And Emily in that t-shirt!
Savannah says
Uhh… Which one? LOL
Let’s see… Bad eyeshadow blending skills, crimpy lashes from curling post mascara, not wearing the right foundation, ooh, and I had this phase where I was super into bronzer and blush but little did I know how choppy and muddy it really was. *sigh* my skills are so refined now compared to then. Thank goodness! And I think I’m finally out of my makeup slump. I’ve been feelin’ *it* again, so, yay for me 🙂

I think we all have had those moments, in my case just to defend myself I have to blame the lack of shades in the drugstore because when I bought my first concealer and foundation, the first was too light and the latter was darker and pinker.
I didn’t use them together but I tried to make them work, so I went to some parties with panda eyes or with my face looking different that my neck.
Also I haven’t been careful with my brows so my mom even told me they were puppet brows.
kwmechelle says
Bad makeup mishaps? Let’s see. In college I used to wear this pastel/lavender lipstick with a brown eyeliner that I didn’t blend. I seem to recall seeing a pic sometime ago & oh my lanta! What ever was I thinking? I blame it on the 90’s. *shoulder shrugg*

My most cringe-worthy moment makeup wise was all of high school me thinks. I used to wear this super cheap face powder in whatever shade, and I was big on blue eyeliner, lots of blush, dark brown eyeshadow all over the lid and I mean the whole lid lol I think back on that and I die of shame! And I never washed my sponges or brushes. Oh my!
Mickey says
Wow… for me, my cringe worthy makeup moment would probably be when I didn’t understand the importance of foundation color. I had worn the Shiseido advanced hydro cream compact in I40 in the spring… when I should maybe wear an O40. Did the same thing the year after that except I did it with Laura Mercier’s Tinted moisturizer in Bisque… aww man… cringe worthy work make up moments… ??
Trude says
Copper boom! I can’t wait either, already told the hubs to plan on not seeing me that weekend. 😉
I have many, many cringe-worthy moments before I started watching YouTube and really figured things out, but there’s one photo in particular from high school (I think junior year?), one of my soccer team photos, where I had started using pencil in my white-blonde brows but hadn’t started getting them shaped or dyed…oh boy. CRINGE!
