Wouldn’t it be wonderful to wake up one sunny morning to the encouraging clatter of colorful songbirds and cartoon forest critters like in Disney’s Snow White? The bunnies would make breakfast while fluttering finches helped you put on your dress. And before you left the house, a very official-looking chipmunk with a clipboard and tiny glasses on the end of his nose would stand at your feet, examine your ensemble and say, “Needs more color!”
Question: Does your current lipgloss stash leave you uninspired?
Today’s gargantuan giveaway may not come with animated forest friends, but it does have all the fixin’s for a complete lip color makeover. Let these Avon Glazewear Lipglosses help you with your summertime looks.
TODAY’S PRIZES
(Winners randomly selected)
The entire set of sixteen (16) Avon Glazewear Lipglosses in various shades of pink, mauve, gold, brown, clear, red and plum. Prizes valued at $96 each (25 winners).
These glosses get raves for their non-sticky texture and the wide range of colors and finishes throughout the set.
TO ENTER
To enter the Avon Glazewear Lipgloss giveaway, just answer the following question in the comments:
“When did you start wearing lipgloss?”
My answer: I didn’t really start wearing gloss until I got out of college in the late ’90s. During the first part of the decade, when I was in high school and college, lipstick was more popular, but no one I knew wore gloss! It wasn’t until about 1998 when I picked up my first tube of MAC Spite that gloss entered the picture. It was love at first sight and all downhill from there.
RULES
Please, one entry per person, and don’t forget to leave a valid email address in the comment form so I can reach you if you’ve won.
The giveaway is open to US readers only (per the company’s request).
I’ll choose the winners at random from the entries left in the comments by 11:59 p.m. PST on Saturday, June 5, 2010.
Good luck! And have a splendiferous day! 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I started wearing lipgloss in Junior High. I’m pretty sure it was from Bath and Body Works, back when they were still making a good amount of makeup products.
Jane says
I started wearing lipgloss upon entering high school. It was a sample sized clinique one from my mom’s stash of gwp =)
Rengirl says
I started on my third year of college and it was the a clear, sparkly Lipglass from Mac. I got hooked on this stuff (and got others hooked on it too).
Jules says
I started wearing lip gloss when I was 12. we weren’t allowed to wear makeup in school…but we got around that by wearing glosses! LOL! We thought we were so rebellious! 😀

Holy smokes, that’s a crazy giveaway. My first serious gloss (as in, not Bonne Bell) was a MAC lipglass in Lust, probably when I was 18 or so.

I started wearing lip gloss in middle school and was a devotee all through high school. In college I went pretty bare. If I did get dolled up lipstick was my top choice. Now, I’m back in love and hoarding lip glosses/glazes like it’s my job! Gotta love that natural glow!
Rachel says
I started wearing gloss in highschool. Right along with my drivers license, I discovered the world of MAC glosses and became obssesed. Funny thing is….now I literally only own one MAC lipgloss because there are so many other brands I love more!
milaxx says
I started wearing gloss in junior high so probably around 13.
Caitlin says
I started wearing gloss in middle school. There was this one Lip Smackers gloss that was a sour lemon flavor – and I love me some sour stuff – so the second I put it on I’d lick it right off! And boy, was it painful when my lips were chapped and broken. OUCH!
Kat says
I first wore lipgloss in the seventh grade when my parents went out of town on a business trip. The babysitter took me to Target and I was allowed to pick out some makeup. I looked like a clown for a week. I started wearing it regularly in high school/college.
Michaela says
I think I started wearing it around the time Smackers was really popular…so maybe when I was in 6th grade.
Kayann says
Well…first there was Bonnebell when I was in 5th grade! But my first “serious” lip gloss was in high school, my freshman year. I didn’t wear makeup until I was in high school…I was a little late!
steph says
I didn’t start wearing lipgloss until my junior year of college. And I started out with the philosophy glosses, how cool is it that they are flavored? 🙂
iLyma says
I’ve always loved lipbalm, but I don’t think I started wearing lipgloss until 3 years ago? I got a free tube of MAC from my internship and now gloss is a must for whenever I am feeling remotely girly.
Molly says
In 6th grade my best friend had a huge collection of Lipsmackers and Wet’n’Wild- we used to sit in her room singing (badly) along to Mariah Carey and trying them all on over and over. I still have such a soft spot for pink lemonade and Dr. Pepper Lipsmackers, and a pot of Wet’n’Wild strawberry gloss in my makeup bag!
Lily says
I started wearing lip gloss in 6th grade, those bonnebell roll on flavored glosses! I remember it was watermelon flavor and delicious! lol

I started wearing lipgloss when I was around 15, I think. Lipgloss was easy to put on and it didn’t look that ‘made up’! Therefor very appropriate for my age at the time. Hihi!
Recently I’ve stopped wearing lipgloss. I don’t know why…. Maybe I’m just fed up with the ones I have 😉 Can’t wait to try these Avon ones!

I first started wearing lipgloss in the7th grade in the form of bonnebell! It’s funny because to this day, the friends I still have from middle laugh about how much lipgloss I always had/have on my person at any given point in time….I can’t resist the shine and sparkle!!!
Meghan says
i first started wearing lipgloss in high school. i would buy the smackers vanilla frosting lip gloss at the drug store because i loved the smell and taste! i wore that with this frosty vanilla eyeshadow…eeeeek!!!!

I started wearing lip gloss for piano recitals and competitions in my teens and then in high school. I wasn’t really into makeup then, so I would just use my mom’s gift samples. In college, I started wearing more makeup and finally bought my own!
Chelsea says
I started wearing lipgloss when I started high school. I would always lean towards the lipsmackers vanilla. I still use it every once in a while because I LOVE the taste of it.
I have grown up though, I don’t like the shimmery-all over sparkle lipgloss anymore. I recently started using Clinique lipglosses and can’t get enough of them!
Briana says
I started wearing lipgloss when I was about 11 or 12. I bought a lipsmackers gloss that smelled like a vanilla cupcake with frosting. It smelled soooo good! Other than that, i didnt really start wearing lipgloss alot until I was 15. I loved the Lipsmackers and NYC lip glosses because they were affordable, smelled great, and I didn’t look too made up.
Dee Dee says
I started wearing lipgloss really young …. like 5 years old. I was iin a lot of pagents from 0-11 years old.
Kaylee D says
I wore cute, kiddie Smackers lip glosses when I was seven! I got into more high-quality lip glosses (and makeup in general) when I was sixteen.
Valentine says
I started wearing lip glosses and tinted balms back in sixth grade, accumulating quite the collection through middle school. I’ve always just loved makeup and am obsessive about never having bare lips (clear balm at the very least) especially.
Jamie Lynn Palmer says
I started wearing lipgloss before I started wearing true makeup. I liked that it kept my lips moist throughout the day without the “made up” look, I was a total tom boy!

I started wearing l/g from last year onwards. I always used to think l/g are only shimmery and would make me look like a disco ball, but after seeing YT vids and blogs from gurus like you and other, I came to know more about l/g and gradually learnt what kind of l/g would make me look good.
Thanks for the giveaway!!

I have worn lipgloss since I was about 14 years old (so for 16 years i have been). I didn’t start wearing it daily until last year. It had been just chapstick unless I would be going out for dinner or something then I’d put on some gloss. Now…I wear it every day – and feel naked w/out gloss or even lipstick (the few occasions that I wear that…).
Emily says
I think the first time I wore lip gloss was when I went to my first school dance at age 11. My older sister, who was a Mary Kay Saleslady at the time had given me some to share with my sister. To be honest, I think we still have the tube!
Tammie Garcia says
I started wearing lip gloss in Junior High – In the 80’s baby. You know it was the bonnie bell stuff – barely visible. I loved that stuff.

I started wearing lipgloss in 8th grade. It’s always been Clinique glossear in Juicy Apple. Its not sparkly and shows up beautifully on my lips!

I’m more of a lip balm wearer and got into lip gloss a couple of years ago in college. I remember when the Stila pen-style lip glaze became popular and bought one at Sephora!
Shannon says
I just recently started getting into makeup and am still lacking in the lipgloss department – I typically put on some lipstick in the morning, which then promptly wears off as soon as I drink coffee. This collection would be an amazing way to start wearing lipgloss though.
Nicole says
I started wearing lip gloss in high school, though it was just plain ole boring clear lip gloss. It wasn’t until college when i branched out to light pinks and neutrals. Then last year I started to get a little more daring with color… Mac’s superglass was a big step for me because of the huge chunks of glitter!
Erica says
I started wearing lip gloss in middle school. Actually I remember one of my colors being an Avon frosty purple color…lol only when you’re 12. 🙂
paige says
I started wearing lipgloss really early for playing “makeup artist” with the little kid stuff, but not in public with the real stuff until I was about 18. And I haven’t stopped yet. Thanks for the great6 opportunity.

That all depends . . . . do Bonnie Bell Lip Smakers count? I was eating . . . I mean . . .er, wearing those in grade school.
I was wearing more grown up lip gloss in high school. 😉

Ahaha my lip gloss wearing/eating/collecting started when I was 11! That’s when I found out about Caboodles… loved that stuff!
Rachel says
I started wearing lipgloss in 5th grade. It was probably Bonnebelle at first then during high school it was CoverGirl and the stuff they sell at Bath and Body works. Now my favorite is NARS Dolce Vita. Hope to try the Avon glosses soon!
Sandy says
This will really date me, but I started wearing lip gloss when I was about 13. Bonne Bell’s Lip Smackers were brand new!! I wore something fruity-flavored (for the life of me, can’t think of the name of it) and thought I was just the coolest girl in the world!
I think I’d enjoy these Glazewears just as much, though. I have a bunch of them that really need to be retired (a few from Avon’s Bronze Goddess phase a few years ago) and would love these to wear and share.
Jay says
I started wearing lipgloss after I saw my friend’s nude lips looking very pretty and glossy. She told me she was using Mac C-Thru. In fact, that’s my first lipgloss and Mac product that I bought. And that was back in 2002, before then I wasn’t into makeup.

I started wearing lipgloss when I started working after college. I had money to burn and was just starting to get into make up. MAC Dreamy is still part of my stash.
athenacalled says
I first wore lipgloss to my senior prom – a friend did my makeup and told me that applying a basecoat of lipstick with a top layer of gloss would make it prettier, tone down the color intensity a bit, and would last longer. I used that tip for the next few years…
Sarah says
I got a pink lipgloss as part of a free gift from, clinique, maybe? when i was in ninth grade. I never wore more than a slick of mascara and some foundation in high school, and it was a pretty, neutral color that worked well with a mostly bare face.
Jennifer says
I started wearing lipgloss when I was in high school, my cousin had given me a set of lipglosses for christmas and I loved them.
Debbie says
I think I started wearing lip gloss in 5th grade – although then it was more playing around then wearing it everyday!
snoopysteph says
I first started wearing lipgloss in 7th grade after I begged my mom. She took me down to the local Clinique counter and I purchased an Almost Lipstick in Fruit Punch (it’s more of a sheer lipgloss than lipstick). I can probably count on one hand how many times I’ve ever worn lipstick – I’m definitely a lipgloss girl all the way!
.-= snoopysteph’s last blog post… 2 Years Old! =-.
Stephanie says
While I don’t wear it everyday, if I wear lipstick, i have to top it off with gloss. Lipstick without lipgloss is like a cupcake without icing. Yes, I will still eat that delicious icing-free cupcake, but ooooh boy the icing just completes it. Hehe
Sheena says
I think I started wearing lipgloss when I was in 7th or 8th grade…nothing very dramatic, mostly just sheer colors. I think I got truly addicted once I hit college though…that’s when I discovered the MAC lipglasses and Lancome’s Juicy Tubes lol

I actually never started to wear lipgloss till I graduated from college. In highschool, I really didn’t care how I looked like. College, no one really care how you looked like either (I went to class literally 5 minutes after I woke up from a nap). But there were times during college when I went out to a club and put on the works, minus the lipgloss. I never thought about my lips needing to be shiny. But now that I started working as a receptionist. I gotta look my best everyday. This includes lips be shiny too. So now I carry 3 different lipglosses in my purse for regular touch-ups and I absolutely LOVE it!! Especially since I can’t really put on much eyeshadow, I gotta dress up everything else.
I think I am a certified lipgloss addict now!
Corrine says
i really didn’t start wearing lipgloss until last year. i am a lipstick girl and never wanted the greasy “i just ate fried chicken” look. but then i read about the drugstore finds and bought the sally hansen 12 hour lipgloss in baguette and got a ton of compliments! so now i alternate…

Honestly, only maybe a year ago.
I also wore lipstick in high school and a little in college, and then when I got my first job. It just wasn’t popular. And i didn’t see the point of a second lip product. But then I discovered lip gloss with color, that was much more improved than I remembered, and now I’m hooked.
Thanks!
Janet says
I got my first lip gloss when I was in 6th grade. It came with my scholastic book order! LOL!

I probably started wearing lip gloss when I was about 12 – but it was the Bonne Bell flavored kind. My favorite was the vanilla cupcake!! It smelled and tasted so good, all the girls in my grade had a tube.
Paula Lee says
I still haven’t really gotten into lip gloss. I will wear it occasionally, but its definitely not part of my make-up routine.
Deb says
Fun!! I started wearing lip gloss sometime in middle school, I think. I remember falling in love with Jordana clear gloss because it smelled like cotton candy and it fit my babysitting budget!
Denise says
I wore lipgloss in middle school, usually sheer or clear, but I snuck colored gloss while at school then wiped it off before getting home. Remember the roll on glosses that smelled like different fruits. And my mom was ordering from Avon my entire childhood. She would buy soap on a rope for Dad, everything from cosmetics to body care for herself, and she would always order me the Avon lipbalm and the Honeysuckle fragrance (I loved the bottles it came in). I still love looking at Avon booklets.
Minte says
I started wearing lipgloss when I was about 14, I think. My mom gave me some of her JuicyTubes and I loved them. I always wore them because I just loved the smell and the sparkles =)

I started wearing lipgloss in middle school. I saw all the girls wearing heavy make-up at school, but my mother only let me wear lipgloss to school. I’m so glad my mother did that! All the girls that wore make-up in middle school now look like they’re 35 even though they’re only 18!
Marcie says
I’ve been wearing gloss for as long as I can remember! I started with lip balm – I distinctly remember a coconut formula I had in 5th grade. Recently, I’ve finally discovered lipstick and now I balance the two.
Jennifer says
In middle school! I remember there used to be a cosmetics store called SkinMarket or something like that at the mall, where they had crazy, colorful shades of eyeshadow and lipstick and liquid eyeliner. I was in heaven. I saved up my allowance to buy my first gloss there!

I started wearing lipgloss when I was about 13 years old. I wore it only to some special occasions, when I wanted to feel pretty and grown up. I was so excited to go to the drugstore and buy a tube of Maybelline’s super cute (at least I thought so then) hot pink lipgloss, and I used every single drop of it.
courtnie says
I first started wearing lipgloss when I was about 11. My first of course was bonne bell when we were too young to care about quality and flavor was the most important. I still have a soft spot for them. I like the lancome juicy tubes still. Would love to try these!
Anna says
I started wearing lipgloss when I was in high school, but even then it was mostly lip balm because I never felt like I could pull off lipgloss. I didn’t REALLY start wearing and buying it until this year, soph year in college. And indeed, all downhill from there right? =P
Kat says
I only actually started wearing lip gloss about 3 years ago–someone gave me an asian brand lip gloss as a souvenir gift and it completely changed my opinions on lip glosses. It made my lips so soft and the color was this perfect shade of rosey/raspberry tone that had the tiniest gold shimmers–Gor-geous. …as I recall ever so fondly.

I HAD MY FIRST RUN IN WITH LIP GLOSS CIRCA 1989 IT CAME WITH A ROLLING BALL APPLICATOR AND ALL THE “COLORS” SHOWED UP AS CLEAR. CLEAR BECAME MY SIGNATURE “COLOR” FOR THE NEXT DECADE ONCE IN A WHILE I WOULD OPT FOR A VARIATION OF CLEAR (AKA CLEAR BUT WITH A LIL BIT OF GLITTER) UNTIL THAT FAITHFUL DAY I WENT TO THE MAC COUNTER AND TRIED MY FIRST LIP GLASS (PINK LEMONADE-I THINK) I HAVEN’T BEEN SEEN IN CLEAR GLOSS SINCE!

I bought a few lipglosses in college, but never really wore them because I hated that my hair always got stuck to it. It wasn’t until right after college that I got obsessed with makeup and finally realized that there are better lipglosses out there that won’t stick to my hair.

Probably in 5th grade, I was taking dance lessons and we had to be made up for our dance reviews. Mom bought me a Maybelline Kissing Potion (roller ball goopy stuff) in a flavor that tasted like Juicy Fruit gum. I thought I was just like the big girls! Moved on to Lip Smackers after that. Took a break from gloss until a few years ago I started wearing Clinique. Always have a tube of it in my purse 🙂

I always loved rockin’ a shiny pout as far as I can remember, I was in love with Bonnebell Lip Burst in Watermelon. I was obsessed since the age of 10.

I started wearing lipgloss on and off in 5th grade. I moved on to lipstick in high school but now I’m back to wearing lip gloss almost everyday. You can never go wrong with lipgloss. 🙂
RLW says
Not until high school, lipstick was it for me, now I can’t imagine using both every day! I have a stash in my car, my purse, and my work desk…I am a glossaholic!!
Erica says
I didn’t really start wearing lip gloss much until after I moved out after high school. I was a major tomboy in school – or just didn’t care that much about pretty-ing up. But once I got into lipgloss? I got into it in a MAJOR way. I have really full lips that dry out very quickly, so wearing lipgloss is both functional AND pretty.
Tami Z says
I started wearing lip gloss in middle school around 7th grade. I wanted to wear lipstick so my mommy compromised with me and lipgloss it was. Probably Wet n Wild or Bonne Bell.
Kailey says
“When did you start wearing lipgloss?â€
My answer: I had worn lipgloss before, but i didn’t start to regularly wear it until fifth grade. I started wearing some high end lipgloss in seventh grade. mac. i fell in love.

7th grade – it was that super-cool Mary Kay pinkish-silver one. And I say super-cool ironically, though at the time, it was all the rage in Jr High!

I started wearing lip gloss right about the time i started high school. I didn’t wear much makeup back then and lip gloss seemed really cool back then!
Kristy says
I started wearing lipgloss in the the seventh grade and of course it was bonnebell!
Leopard Lady says
I was in the seventh grade when I started wearing lipgloss. I was forbidden to wear it! My favorite gloss were by Bonne Bell. I loved the versatility in color and flavor. My favorite shade was this dark brown color. I would outline my lips with dark brown liner and apply more gloss. I even mastered lipstick!

I started around high school. I was never that big into makeup until 10thish grade… now I carry one around all the time.
Marmar says
I was in the 3rd grade. I was in deep shizzle with my parents for wearing earrings at school (clip ons from a friend).. I went to a strict Catholic school. The kind that would confiscate items they deemed “inappropriate.” After the earring fiasco, a friend of mine let me use some of her lipgloss. It wasn’t Bonnebell.. as a matter of fact, it wasn’t any particular brand at all. I don’t remember what it tasted like or what colour it was but I do remember that it was in a frightening, atrocious looking compact shaped like a Barbie head. From that moment on though, it was love at first sight. I begged my parents to buy me every possible flavour or type I could find at the local CVS. At the very least, unlike the earrings or those slap-on bracelets (which were also taken away at school), they didn’t mind me using mint chapstick!
Gina Z. says
I started to wear lipgloss a little bit later than everyone else. I never used to wear it because I have always had an acne prone, oily complexion and I thought the gloss would just reflect the shine that was already on my face (and I hated that shine!). I started to wear lipgloss when I decided to accept my oily complexion (mind you, MAC Studio Fix powder makes this a tiny bit easier). I wanted to wear NARS Sweet Dreams gloss with NARS Papua liner so badly, so that was my first experience wearing lipgloss. I guess you can say that after hating my complexion since I was a young girl, I finally decided to accept and embrace it – wanting to wear lipgloss had a lot to do with that! Now, I would never turn back 🙂
Diana says
I began wearing gloss regularly my junior year of high school. My first gloss was MAC clear Lipglass. I layered that sucker over everything and also wore it alone. I still tend to layer my gloss over everything and anything!

Honey, I have been wearing lipgloss since I could walk! Whenever I would go to the store with my mom I would always BEG her to get me Lip Smackers (You know the clear, fruity-smelling, $1 ones?) I was just a glossy kinda little girl. 🙂
Keshia says
I started wearing lip gloss around 6th or 7th grade. I was in the phase where I thought that I was a grown up haha. I used to get the cheapo 1 dollar roller ball gloss. The feeling was horrible and it like dried out my lips. But I was glossy!!!

oooh, I’ve never tried Avon products.
I think I started wearing gloss sometime in high school. I never really wore lipstick until recently. I like the foolproof method behind applying sheer glosses and most of the time they are moisturizing!
My favorite glosses to this day are the mentha line from C.O. Bigelow!
Rosie says
lipsmackers, i remember bubble gum or fruity rollons. i was prob in 7th grade. sticky sticky!! my favorite lipgloss ever was prescriptives. it was called heartbeat. perfect color and amount of sticky. it never wore off, in a good way. My new favorite is Loreal infallible lipgloss, and mac lipglass of course but a bit expensive. I would love to try the glazewear. seems inexpensive and well reviewed. thanks!!

I started wearing lipgloss in the 7th grade… Back then it was all about Bonnie Bell’s lipglosses and chapstick. I’m pretty sure Vanilla Frosting started a revolution! I personally think I was too young to carry a purse {back before kids had their own cell phones and pagers} but I carried a purse chock full of my Bonnie Bell collection.

My goodness, it was a while ago. Probably in the mid-90s. Before that I wore lipstick. Now I wear both.

I’d never thought about my first lipgloss experience until now, but it’s as clear as if it happened yesterday. I purchased my first lipgloss, in college, at my local drugstore. The brand was BonneBell, and I spent what seemed like hours selecting the perfect shade. I’ve used a variety of brands since then, and I’m excited about winning the Avon line. Thanks!
Anita says
Ah…lipgloss. I can remember my very first lipgloss. This pretty baby right here:
http://www.amazon.com/Maybelline-Shine-Diamond-Liquid-Sparkling/dp/B002ABAIKO
I was at a flea market, and there was one of those stands that sells (probably expired) cheap makeup. I bought this. I wore it EVERY DAY.
I eventually stopped wearing it, but one day I tried to get it out and it was becoming hard. So I followed an internet tutorial and heated up water in a mug to get the product off of the sides. I did so…but I believe I got the water too hot, for when I took the lipgloss out after sitting it in there for a few minutes, the tube was blown up, as if a ton of pressure was building up. So much for that. 😛
Elizabeth says
I started with Bonne Bell much like everyone else. I loved the giant tubes, in flavors like cherry. I always have a variety of glosses available, at all times. Makes the hubs crazy.
Mandy says
I started wearing lipgloss only about 5-7 yrs ago in my 40’s. Amazingly my first lipgloss was Avon Glazewear!

i’m pretty sure i started wearing lipgloss in grade 7 or 8. it was just clear watermelon lipgloss from smackers. it tasted yummy =]
Amy says
Yikes, I can’t remember. Probably high school, some sheer pink stuff. Actually, I graduated college not too long ago and just got into makeup recently….it was all about the CoverGirl powder and Maybelline mascara in the pink and green tube back then. Thankfully, times have changed 🙂
Amber Janel says
Lord, it’s hard to remember that far back. I would have to say Elementary School. I was a complete tomboy until I graduated High School but could never stand to have crusty lips lol

I got my first gloss in Jr. High and it was pretty much clear, but with the best watermelon flavor imaginable!
The Avon colors looks really nice! Thanks, Karen!

Funnily enough, my mom became an AVON lady when I was 10 years old and THAT is when I started wearing lipgloss. She would only let me wear clear shades though. It wasn’t called glazewear back then…can’t remember what it was called. (30 years ago!) I’ve been hooked ever since…and my mom is STILL an AVON lady. (though shamefully I don’t really order from her.) =(
Hannah says
When I was in sixth or seventh grade, I went to a summer camp and some girls had brought their make up with them. One of the girls had some clear lip gloss (it had aloe or something in it, too) and gave it to me. I remember it was really thick and I always put way too much on!

When I was a little girl, lip gloss was the only kind of “makeup” my dad allowed us to wear. So the little ones with the fruity scents were my favorite. But when I really started wearing makeup a couple of years ago at 22, I was all over lip gloss since I was weary of wearing lipstick.
Julia Z. says
LOl, i started wearing lip gloss in 5ht grade when i spied this lovely tube of orange gloss at bath and body works..it smelled and tasted so good! that started my gloss obsession..lol ah i still cant walk into bath and body without giving into the temptation of those glosses..:)

I didn’t start wearing lipgloss until my freshman year in college. My roommate was this beautiful girl who wore make-up everyday, and I guess that made me unknowingly a bit more self-conscious about my looks as well. I started off with the Bonne Bell Lip Smackers in 5th/6th grade… everyone collected them! My sister and I probably had 50 flavors… I remember Dr. Pepper and pina colada the most!
Started wearing lip gloss soon after, along with clear mascara and some foundation. Kinda fun to look back on, because I wear a full face of makeup on the daily now (foundation, gloss, shadow, liner, mascara, eyebrow pencil, blush and highlighter!) But I started small and picked up my fave techniques/products slowly over the years.
I only own one lipstick that was not a free gift with purchase (MAC Viva Glam Gaga). Gloss is DEFINITELY my preferred lip product! I would love to try these glosses from Avon! <3

I bought my very first (not those kiddie ones) lip gloss last Friday. It was on clearance for $3.50, and it was from Revlon, which I heard made great lip glosses. I’ve avoided lip glosses because I have big lips and the shine bends light directly onto your lips. I have a nude lipstick that I absolutely cannot wear by itself. I just layer this gloss on top (it’s a cherry red gloss) and blot, and I have myself peachy pink lips!

I used to always wear the LipSmackers chapsticks in Jr. High and High school.
After I graduated when I was with my first REAL boyfriend, he bought me a tube of MAC Lipglass after i’d been admiring it for a few weeks (i’d always wanted to get into the higher end makeup, but wasn’t so sure about spending so much when considering I didn’t have a job). Sadly, on the day we broke up, it fell out of my purse under one of the seats in his car…
I didn’t end up buying another lipglass until 2 or 3 years later, and now my lips feel naked without it!

My first lip gloss was clear MAC Lipglass in the 90s. It was so sticky that I never wore it much. I had the tube for years! It’s still a genius idea.

I started wearing lip gloss when I was in high school. I started with a pale pink gloss that my mum gave me and I still prefer gloss over lipstick and lip stains in general. I love this giveaway! Thanks so much Karen and Avon!

I started wearing lipgloss when i was 10 i believe. It came in one of those limited too bags. I loved glamming myself up! 🙂

Haha, lipgloss was my gateway drug! I bought my first tube of lipgloss in eighth grade, by sophomore year I had been dubbed “The Lipgloss Queen.” Go figure.

My first lip gloss was when I was eight, and actually was from the Avon catalog. It’s pink and in a tube with floral prints. 🙂

i started wearing lipgloss in the 8th grade when bonnebell made the flavored glosses that looked like lava in the tube, ahh memories!

I think I got my first lipgloss in 5th grade… I remember that it was in a green tube and tasted delicious. Before that, though, I regularly swiped glosses from my mom and sister to use. Thanks for the givaway, Karen!

I started wearing lip gloss in high school (10th grade). I believe it was a cheap drugstore one, as before that I had just been using lip balm. Since then, my tastes have ranged from MAC to Milani. I love finding new lip glosses! =D

My first lipgloss was when I was 12. I got it as a gift from my grandmother who had received it for free in a GWP. I loved it and wore it out to a big family dinner and got lots of compliments 🙂

I feel like I’ve been wearing lip gloss my whole life! haha
Actually I wore a little lip smackers and stuff like that since I was like 8, and more colored glosses and lipsticks since I was 12/13ish

When I was in high school! so maybe around 1999 🙂

I started wearing at age 13, very subtle colours (like a blush pink). I was never a fan of lipstick because it made my lips dry, luckily lipsticks are luxurious these days!! I’m a huge fan of Avon products and I adore their Aloe & Avocado face cream. Bring on the Gloss!!

The first time I wore lipgloss was probably sometime in elementary school… grade 6-8 range. That’s when all of us girls in my classes started experimenting with makeup. Lipgloss was really one of the only things my parents would let me out of the house wearing. I’m sort of hooked for life too… I don’t own a lot of lipsticks, but I have a ton of glosses!
Madelynn says
I just about DIED when I saw this contest. Goodness. What an amazingly generous prize.
I started wearing lipgloss around… sixth grade. Bonne Bell had me like none other. I remember going to KMart with my mom and just lusting after all of the purple and white sparkly tubes of gloss in their tween-tastic containers. I never wore it all of the time, of course. But the same as back then, I use gloss for a pick-me-up, even when I’m wearing pajamas!. :]

Probably after my first kid around 8 years ago. I started to get into makeup just for some grown-up “me” time that had nothing to do with diapers, feedings, etc.

back in the late 1990s when i was still in elementary school….. it was a huge fad with the girls to have ultra glossy lips, since we were too young for lipsticks 🙂
Sobriquet says
I remember at about age 8 being fascinated by a girl in the neighborhood looking like she had water on her lips. I still want to know what that amazing gloss was. Lip gloss was the first makeup I ever wore; in eighth grade I carried around a little pot of pale pink. Goopy, but I loved it.
Mylala88 says
I started wearing lip gloss when I was about 14 but that was only because all the other girls in school were doing it xP Now that I am at the grand ole age of 21 (lol xP) I much prefer wearing lipstick and liquid lipstick on a day to day and lip glosses for nights out/funz!
Crissy says

I started wearing gloss in 8th grade, since it was the only “makeup” I was allowed to wear at the time

I’ve been wearing lipgloss since about 6th grade and wear it daily ever since! When I started the 6th grade at a posh all- girls school on the Upper East Side (one of the schools Gossip Girl is based on), coming from Crown Heights, Brooklyn, I felt like my style couldnt keep up with the name brands these girls always flaunted that I could NEVER afford. To keep my own sense of style, and not being allowed to wear makeup, I started wearing lipgloss in order to stand out. Granted, I only wore and still only do wear neutral goldeny, brown glosses, but I do realize I need some more pop!
Megan says
Wow, what a giveaway! I started wearing lip gloss late in college, maybe around my 3rd year, but I never wore it regularly because I wasn’t able to find a shade that I truly liked. I hope if I get these glosses I’ll be able to find at least one that suits me! 🙂

I’ve heard really great things about Avon lip glosses. I didn’t start wearing lip gloss until my freshman year of college (which was about 6 years ago). A few girls in my dorm shared their makeup collections with me…good times, good times.
Rozae says
I convinced my mom lip gloss is like lip balm because I couldn’t wear makeup in high school and to her lip stick was what big girls wore not girls in high school. So lip gloss was the closest thing I got to being a big girl. When I was a sophomore there was a workshop of being healthy with an emphasis on girly matter, I signed up and for coming to the workshop I got a gift basket with my very first lip gloss from Clinique. A beginning of a great relationship to come.
Kennedia says
Wow…I’ve been wearing lipgloss for ages! 10, maybe? I was such a girly-girl. 🙂 But of course it wasn’t good lipgloss, it was that rubbish lipgloss that you get from two buck stores 😉

I first started wearing lip gloss when I got my first Lancome juicy tube. I looooooooove its texture and how plump it made my lips look. Ever since then, I have been hooked on lip glosses.

I think that I started wearing lipgloss during my sophmore year of high school. That was the year that I started to wear a little makeup on a regular basis. I’ve had an on/off love of lipgloss since then. I like the color options that gloss gives, but I’m disappointed in ones that are very sheer.
Mariah says
Hmm, I think I was pretty young. Yeah, my first glossy gloss was in like, middle school. But if you mean high end gloss… probably after high school?

A year ago. A bit late, but I just couldn’t finds a lipgloss that I would feel comofotable wearing.

I wore cheaper gloss as a kid since it didn’t have much pigment and mom was happy with that instead of full colored lipstickt. My first grown up gloss was in my 20’s and came from Victoria’s Secret.
Stacy says
I started wearing lipgloss in high school when I realized that I hated lipstick. I usually have at least 3 different glosses in my purse at any one time, my husband laughs every time I buy more.

I started wearing lip gloss when I was in elementary school… well, not to school, but at home during dress-up time. 🙂 My mom worked for Mary Kay, so I tons of fun samples. I loved clear gloss, and started wearing it regularly in middle school. I was hooked pretty young.
Natalie says
i only started wearing gloss recently when i grabbed a tube of NARS in turkish delight, it’s such a pretty pink and looks good too! only it leave my lips peeling and settles into the lines and it doesn’t look too hot.
Jane says
WOW ! Coincidentally my first ever gloss was a red tinted lip balm like thing from Avon. It used to come in a small red container and used to smell like candy. Even though it looked like a balm , every time I used to wear it in college , atleast one person used to compliment on my “shiny” lips 🙂 Man..how I miss those ! Are they even available these days ?
Dorcas says
I was raised in a very strict Pentecostal church where you were forbidden to wear anything on your lips other than vaseline petroleum jelly.
When I grew up and left home you can imagine just how thrilled I was to be able to wear any color I could get my hands on without fear of fire and brimstone. I was about 19 years old when I began to wear lipglosses and lipsticks that my older cousins would purchase for me.
How liberating to be dressed up and have something nice on your lips to compliment your outift.
I am now married and attending a non-denominational chuch. I have a 7 yr old daughter who I sometimes take to the MAC counter and purchase colored lipgloss for her along with clear colored lipgloss from Target. She is a little DIVA-in-training and I’m so proud of her. Someone had to break tradition!!!
Sandra Campuzano says
I believe if memory doesn’t decieve me that I was in 7th grade when I started wearing lipgloss. No, I’m absoultly sure. I was new to my middle school and wanted so bad to blend in and not be the new kid. I took so much time that morning to get ready. I didnt really wear make up as I wasnt allowed but my mom pulled out one of her nuetral lipglosses from her purse (cant remember the brand) and said “go ahead put some on” OMG! What a great start to great year. Seventh grade was awsome. Mom bought me a couple of lipglosses that year always in light pinks and browns. It’s still the only shades I wear.
If my daughter is ever asked this question she would say that she was 4 years old. On her birthday I let her wear some for her party because her princess chapsticks just would not do.
Now when ever we go to a party she wants to borrow some of my lipgloss. She’s such a lil mommas girl. 🙂
Saku says
I really started getting into glosses in high school. I think my first ones were BonneBell.

Please include me in the giveaway. What an amazing giveaway. Avon’s lipgloss is really nice. I have a few and I like that they’re not sticky. I started wearing lipgloss when I was about 12 or so. All those years ago the only formula was in a pot. I was never thrilled with sticking my finger in there and applying it to my lips. Too germy for me. There wasn’t much in the way of colors. Of course I wore a bright and shiny pink. Probably a fruit flavor. Thank you.

I always wore lipstick but was never really satisfied because it would always look flaky on my lips, even after exfoiliating or on top of a lip primer. I was introducd to lipgloss at a MAC makeover in ’95 where they used it over a lipstick. I just used it alone and was so ecstatic at the smooth, juicy look it gave me. Do you know it took years before I realised I could switch up the look just by changing the lipliner I wore underneath? Man, that was like finding buried treasure in my bathroom! The combos are endless!

I too started to wear lip gloss after college and around the same time (late 90s). Revlon Coffee Bean lipstick was my go-to throughout college, but now I prefer the lighter and more sheer look of lip gloss. I don’t even own any lipstick now. Only glosses!

I started wearing lipgloss in middle
school. The firstpricy one I bought was juicy tubes in simmer. Man I loved that lipgloss, it was the perfect nude. I found it again a few years ago and I put it to the side to use again but I haven’t been able to find where I put it.

I started right after high school, mostly during my college years because it was fast and easy to throw on. Lipgloss gives a nice sheen and brightens up the face, I try to keep one with me everywhere I go.

Lipgloss was my very first experience with any kind of makeup. I’d say i started wearing it around 12 or 13. Although it wasn’t until i was 18 or so that I started using the more heavily pigmented lipglosses. To this day, I prefer lipgloss over lipstick.

I started to wear lip gloss in the sixth grade which was 2001, I was really young and this was the only form of makeup my mom would allow me to wear. I only wore a little bit of clear gloss but I loved it my mom thought it was age appropriate and she was pretty strict with me lol. All us sixth graders would rave about where we bought our lip-glosses haha awww the old days :].

Oh my gosh – I LOVE lipgloss, but my current stash is basically just a clear, a peach, and a shimmery pink. I have worn lip gloss since even before I started wearing actual makeup… probably since I was 10! I feel so out-of-place with lipstick or stains, but lipgloss is a great way to up the ante on my lips while still staying in my comfort zone.

I first started wearing lip gloss in high school. I was never allowed to wear makeup until I graduated, the one thing I was allowed however was lipgloss… as long as it wasn’t too colorful. Although I hated not being able to wear anything else, pretty lipgloss made up for it.
Brittany says
I first started wearing lip gloss in jr. high. Bonne Belle used to make this super shimmery gloss that wasn’t really any color but shimmer and I used that like crazy! I loved the one that tasted like vanilla icing and there was a pink shimmery one that tasted like watermelon. I went through tubes and tubes of that stuff. Whenever I got into college, I started getting into “better” makeup, like MAC and Lancome and using glosses that has serious color.

I started wearing lip gloss in 6th grade, but I remember I HATED the way it felt on my lips!
I gradually grew into my Bonnebell addiction though! I’ve been a gloss lover ever since.

I remember putting Vaseline on my lips to make them shiny when my older sisters first started wearing lip gloss. Then it moved to Bonnie Bell Lip Smackers plastered all over my lips in a clumpy shiny mess reeking of sticky sweet root beer, watermelon or dr. pepper. Once I was old enough, my mom bought me a tube of Mary Kay lip gloss. I loved the smell and it still brings back memories of my mom getting ready for a night out. Nowadays, I am a lipgloss junkie. I have some in my car, in my purse, in my bedroom, in half a dozen pockets of various jeans and jackets, and I’m sure under my couch. It’s an instant mood lifter and when my fiance is annoyed with me, I can kiss him and get back at him by coating his lips with a little sparkle!

“When did you start wearing lipgloss?â€
I suppose I technically started wearing lip gloss when I was about 12 or 13. It was Avon’s Lip Slick Tint–a tinted lip balm. My grandmother used to get them as samples with her Avon order, and just let them pile up on her dresser. I used to layer them on (mostly in unflattering colors since my grandmother is a completely different coloring than moi). When I started wearing lip stick at age 15, I remember my mom declaring “Thank God, because I was sick of that Slick Tint s**t.” (Say that five times fast. Lol.) In the past two years, I’ve started wearing lip gloss more and more, and lip stick less and less. Because I’m a working mom, I need to swipe on something very quickly without precision so lip gloss is my best make-up friend.

I started wearing lipgloss in 5th grade. I was beginning my lifelong battle with a make up addiction 🙂 I remember I had two lipglosses – a frosty nude, and a frosty pink. Trying to be cute and grown, I would take the lipgloss and put it on my eyelids so it looked like I had eyeshadow. Soon I had all the little 5th grade divas doing the same, that is until my teacher walked in on me showing them how to apply it in the bathroom. She was so angry, but I still did it! LOL

Hi Karen,
I am above your age demoraphic so you may not remenber Maybelline roll on lip gloss. They were glass(!) tubes with a roller ball and were clear scented, flavored gloss. I started using gloss when I was about 11 and have NEVER stopped! Gloss is the best; can be used on its own, or over lipstick. Colored, sheer, whatever, they are all awesome!

I never started wearing lipgloss & lip balms until I went to college. The super dry Colorado air was just too much & my lips needed a lot of nourishing. I started wearing lipgloss in the fifth grade. I remember only having two – a shimmery nude and a shimmery pink. Andrea says
I first began wearing lipgloss in grade school. There were two kinds, the rollerball and the lip balm types that came in flavors. The school informed me I was not permitted to wear lipgloss to school because of the smell I think, so I told my mother that I was mad about that
and so she told me to stop wearing it. So I went to my father and told him, probably in whiny voice or crying and he told me ” that’s all right honey you can wear the lipgloss if you want to.”
My dad just wants me to be happy and he knew it would make me happy. 🙂
