MAC makeup giveaway

Good morning, glory (or evening, or afternoon, depending on what time it is where you are). It’s morning for me here in foggy Novato. ๐Ÿ™‚

I’m still chugging along. Yesterday I took it easy and just caught up on some me time. Right now I’m on the way out the door to the Sephora Nighttime Smoky Eyes class, and THAT should most definitely be fun. I’m really looking forward to it.

I hope you have a great weekend and do something fun. Thank you a million times over for all of your help and your sweet email and comment notes over the past few days. Now I have a much better handle on the baby supplies thing and which things are really needs versus nice-to-have wants (the main takeaway: I need a lot, but it’s less than I thought).

And also, thank you for just being sweet and kind. There’s not enough of that these days, but a little kindness still goes a long way in life. I thank you and love you very much, my friend.

  • One (1) MAC eGift card containing $50 sent to the winner by email (international readers, you may opt to receive $50 sent by PayPal instead).

  • Enter by leaving a comment below.
  • Open to U.S. and international readers.
  • You must be 18 or older to enter (or otherwise an adult based on your local laws).

    • Have you ever gone on a trip with a large group of people?
    • Who’s your favorite drinking buddy?

      My brows, are not banging.
They look like bushy catepillars, and I need to get them done ASAP.
      So, I guess I’d give them a 2/10.

  2. Laura says:

    Hello, Karen,

Congratulations for you daughter, you look beautiful and happy.

Brows and neck are by far the favourite parts of my body. By natural I have cat brows, I only need to comb them a little and it’s enough. Not the same for my small eyelashes, unfortunately…

  3. Joan says:

One of my favorite textile patterns is madras plaid, and I’m looking for a shirt right now but am having a really hard time finding one! I saw it on the new 80’s themed show Red Oaks on Amazon Prime and am on a mission to find something similar asap! But it would be a Christmas miracle if I did… I think they only live in thrift stores nowadays.

Textile print? The Ghanaian textile prints called Ankara. If you haven’t already checked them out, do and be amazed! Congratulations on your baby, may he grow up to be inspiring. Yesterday I spent all day with a 39 day old baby and his mother. He weighed 9 pounds at birth, natural birth too. Our bodies are amazing!

  5. Remi says:

The largest book I own is the Aldrich Library of Infrared Spectra (published 1970).. it is 25 cm x 31 cm x 7 cm. Giant brown leatherbound thing on heavy paper with tiny writing.

  6. Hilary says:

I’d love some new MAC lipsticks!

  7. Kandice says:

I have gone on a few trips with a group of people. First was a Vegas trip with five of my good friends (totally fun!). Second was a girls/guys weekend to Laughlin (there were about twelve of us total). Third, my dad’s entire side of the family also went to Laughlin together (28 people in all!!) It’s always worked out well as long as everyone has their own space to retreat to at the end of the day or when it gets to be too much. My BFF’s and I (four of us total) have also done weekend trips to LA, San Diego, and Big Bear. I wouldn’t call it large but it’s definitely a group.

  8. Shannon says:

This is my favorite time of the year – the crisp cool mornings, the changing color of the leaves on trees, all the fall baking and of course the cozy sweaters and boots weather! This weekend we are going to a pumpkin patch, a corn maze then carving our pumpkins! It is going to be a great weekend!

  9. Jenni H says:

  12. Tracey E. says:

Yesterday, I went to a ‘beauty bash’ held in conjunction with the opening of a Nordstrom that is closer than other Nordstrom locations. It was a great opportunity to have consultations with a variety of brands and makeup artists who gave advice on product, technique and were happy to apply give mini makeovers. I learned a lot! Then into the store to explore. My haul was on the clothing side although I did walk away with my first Tom Ford lipstick (in Flame) and a wish list of products for future purchase. The boots you showed in an earlier post would go so well with the clothing looks I brought home.

Glad to hear that you relaxed yesterday as that’s important for you and baby.

  13. Nina says:

    Hi Karen.
I went on a trip with a large group of people about 12 years ago. It was my school friends. To be honest I didn’t like that trip because it was so cold.
I like to trip with my husband. We are on the same wavelength and never argue.

  14. Devis says:

I’d rate my brows maybe a 7. I think I have an decent shape and sometimes I can fill and shape it how I want but sometimes they’re such a pain. I wish I had thick and bold brows that I could wake up and NOT have to fill in at all. That would be the life lol ๐Ÿ˜€

  15. anusha says:

  16. Annesha says:

I have never done my brows, and quite frankly I don’t have very bushy ones that misbehave. But recently I have seen a lot, and I ean a LOT of hype about brows! :O
What is the deal?! Why is everyone obsessing over them suddenly?!? and WHAT is with those hammer-brows?!?!? :O :O :O

I would be obliged if would explain! That would be great, even if I don’t win! LOL! ๐Ÿ˜› ๐Ÿ˜›

Oh and, Sephora smokey eyes tutorial class?! :O Boy! I am learning all the wrong things in school! :I

  17. Simona says:

Hi Karen!!!First of all you look fantastic and reading your posts is always a pleasure!Well, I could talk about few Mac’s lipsticks that I have in mind to buy that would be perfect for this Autumn….in particular Craving, Cosmo and Mehr. So, as you can see, I’ve already found a way to spend the 50$ gift card.
    Big hugs.

  19. Elena says:

I finally found that la croix blackberry cucumber water! I have yet to open it though! It sounded delicious. My local target had a bunch in stock.

And I didn’t go overboard with decorating this year. Just bought a few mini pumpkins for the porch! And one for the dog!

  20. Rochelle Relosa says:

On the rate of 1-10 my natural eye brows are 3, and that’s me being generous and loving myself since my brows decided to grow one seat apart, if I draw them they became like 5.5, that’s the readin why I might go out without brushing my terth but not without drawing my eye brows first ๐Ÿ™‚ kidding aside I always brush my teeth ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. Katrina says:

Eh, I’d say my brows are a 6.5. I paid some attention to them last night but they’re just so stubborn. I’m noticing changes in them, could it be because I’m getting older? They’re not as full and dark as they once were, I’m going to have to learn some new tricks to make them look better.

  22. Karin says:

My first trip to the US (I live in Europe) was with a group of people I did not know and it was the vacation of a lifetime! Since then I try to visit the US every other year, but now with my husband instead of a group. And I’m so happy that we now also have a lot more of Halloween decorations in our stores, until a couple of years ago we did not even knowwhat Halloween was ๐Ÿ™‚

  23. Sarah W says:

We are getting married on Halloween, so we have Halloween-y decorations stashed all around the house right now….

  24. MeaganS says:

    Thanks for the chance!

  25. Liz says:

My brows are okay. They’re pretty full, but it’s been too long since I’ve had them professionally shaped. I pluck them, but I’m no pro.

  26. Alix says:

Would love some new MAC eyeliners!

  27. Anastacia says:

I have gone on quite a few vacations with groups of people. My favorite was a cruise I took a couple years ago with 4 of my best girlfriends. It is a trip that I will remember for the rest of my life. We are hoping to do it again in a couple of years though life is a bit more hectic for us now that we are wives and mothers.

  28. Aarti says:

I’d rate my brows a 6-7 at this moment. I’ve overdue on my threading…otherwise they are a 9-10 in my book! My brows are one of favorite parts about my look/bofy, they are fierce, dark, and frame my face perfectly.

  29. Claudia Davis says:

I am not a fan of trips with large groups. That being said, I have taken tours with about 10-30 people. These were people I did not know and that was when I was a lot younger. About 5 years ago I went on a tour of East Africa and there were 10 people on the trip. We all got to be very good friends and we had a great time. I once did a small cooking and wine tour for a week in Tuscany and got to know the 10 people on the tour very well. That was about 10 years ago and we all still email each other to this day! Other than that, if I have a choice, I would like to travel with one other person and sometimes I like traveling on my own. I am doing a two week Mediterranean cruise next year on my own. Im so excited for it.

  30. Kelly Kimmell says:

  41. susan smoaks says:

i would give my brows a 10. i haven’t ever had them plucked or shaved or anything. i love them all natural.

  42. Kwmechelle says:

Think I’m gonna back-2-MAC a few things today & pick up Flat Out Fabulous. I stick to a few season trendy things from one season to another, but I love to wear things that don’t always fit the season -appropriate theme. One that note, I ordered an unconventional lippie shade from Coloured Raine last night, as well as three new liners from Colour Pop. Can’t wait to get them. I’m also lemming after the newly released KVD mini duo that launched on the Sephora site yesterday. Needless to say, I’m having fun with my makeup obsession these days ๐Ÿ™‚ Glad you took a breather yesterday. Hope you teach us a thing or two about what you learned from that Sephora class. Warm wishes โ˜บ๏ธ

  43. Emily says:

Aside from my family growing up, I have not gone on a trip with a large group. I think it could be both fun and challenging!

  44. The biggest book I own was a gift from my parents. It is called “The woman as a doctor in her own home” and was written in the early 30ยดs to help women tend to their beloved one health and minor issues, even including a quite explicit chapter on “how often intercourse is appropriate and which ways are acceptable”, along with advice to “tame the beast that is your husband”!

I wish I could add a pic on here so you’d know what I look like lol. Both Erin & Kiss&Makeup are on Temptalia too & they have the same pics on there as on here, so there must be some way I can do it lol, just have to figure it out lol!

  56. latanya says:

I would rate my brows a 4, they need professional help

  57. Audra Jennings says:

Oh My Goodness…it has been crazy down here in Texas. The rain started down here on Thursday and it just would not stop. Many areas got at least 5 inches and some areas received closer to 20 inches. The rain has stopped for now, but we still have a 50% chance of more through tomorrow. I hope you had fun at the Sephora class.

My sister is my favorite drinking buddy.

I’ve decorated my bedroom for Halloween with jack o’lantern lights because I love to lie in bed at night and gaze at them. I’m just a big kid at heart!

I would say my brows are an 8 verging on 7 right now. In another week or so I’ll have to be at the Benefit Brow Bar at Ulta . . .

  65. Maria says:

    I love MACS holiday collection.

  66. BJW says:

I like big books and I cannot lie: The biggest book I own is Webster’s Third International Dictionary. It must weigh 20 pounds (maybe more). It’s a foot tall and about five inches thick. It’s not for wimps.

  71. Kalli Melia says:

The last time I traveled with a large group was a few years ago to Lisbon. It was interesting because I went with a friend and most of the others were quite older than us and they would always try to group the younger crowd together, as if they were “too old”…

  72. Amy Brockhausen says:

We always decorate for Halloween, my hubby and I are basically giant kids when it comes to this holiday. We do a full graveyard with fog and things that jump out or talk to you. He also bought me the baby carriage with the demon baby that jumps up at people. LOVE IT!!!

  75. Rachel R. says:

Good afternoon! It’s a tie for my biggest book: The Riverside Shakespeare and The Collins German Dictionary are about the same size. They’re about 12″ tall and 3/5″ thick. Both are leftovers from my college days.

  76. Lynn T. says:

My brows are a 5. They get poitns for being dark and in between thick and thin. but they have different arches and tails, also different thickness at spots… i know brows are more like fraternal twins than identical.

    Hey Karen!

Glad to hear you’re taking time for yourself. Hope you had fun at the smokey eye class!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

  79. Aimey says:

Last night, my sister came to Atlanta to celebrate her belated birthday! Her birthday is actually in July but I was out of the state all summer, and we couldn’t find an earlier weekend due to school starting again. She turned 21, so we went out and had a blast!

  80. Amoure Jones says:

Happy Saturday Karen (El Hubs, Princess, and Tabs)

Still on the mend recuperating from pneumonia but doing much better. Today just rest and relaxation with some light exercise to improve the quality of my lungs (it’s what the doctor prescribes). Other than that I’ll see what Netflix has to offer on the movie selection or see if there’s a scary movie on cable (Halloween bootastic movies).

Paris for New Years with 5 friends. Amazing! Got caught in a crowd of revelers on the Champs-Elysรฉes where somehow we got tear-gassed by police in riot gear. Whoah! Wouldn’t trade it for anything.

  85. Caitlyn S. says:

first of all- Congrats! I don’t think I have yet to say it to you! I have been meaning to write to you about what you need and what is nice to have and what was just junk …. I have a 2 year old. well, actually she is now 2.5.
right when she was born, these really cool swaying, vibrating seats came out. they’re like bouncy chairs and a swing in one. you have to get one. She was in the NICU for a week or so and loved the one that they had. those things are amazing. so instead of having one thing, we had the swing and we had the seat that swayed- thank goodness that they got a product that does both so we don’t have to buy both now (although some of them cost just about as much as both lol)….
Anyway- I finally just got my first mac lipstick! I had never had Mac but always wanted to try it. $17 really isn’t that bad for a mac lipstick…. I really really want to win this. I have such a huge list of Mac products that I want to try out. Thank you for your weekly giveaways, Karen. And thank you for having a really cool blog that always has some really awesome swatches and pics! And Congrats again!
oh and a email to reach me is that’s the email that I am signed up for your emails ๐Ÿ™‚

Thanks for the chance. I’d rate my brows a six. I get them waxed and use clear gel but don’t shape or fill them in

  87. Sandy Pincombe says:

Karen, I always took great pride in my beautiful brows, nice and thick. Several (ok many years ago) I got tweezer happy. On my best day they are a 3. Ugh! I currently use Tarte brow gel to fill them in but just can’t them to grow back. Since I have given in and stopped coloring my locks I really would like thicker brows!

On another note, I just read on a blog that women over 60 should not use eyeshadow. Yeah right!! That is still going to happen but I do try to go for a natural look and no cat eyes. What do you and your readers think?

  88. Anna T. says:

I’m a huge supporter of me time and mental health days. ๐Ÿ™‚ Bravo to you for understanding the need for me time. Remember you’re gonna need it once baby is out too. Don’t be tempted to spend ever second with the baby, and trust me you’ll want to!!!!

Brows are a 6! Dang it why brows are so hard to tame and fix. Still trying to find my perfect combo to make them behave. ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‰

Have you decorated your home for Halloween? I love to decorate! This year the garden has ghosts and pumpkins, are beautiful!

Now that I got my brows tattooed using the microblading technique they are a 10 !
Hallelujah for not having to do my brows in the am !

  96. The biggest book I own is my family bible. I had to throw out many of my books this summer because of a nasty bed bug infestation. ๐Ÿ™ It pained me, because I had some awesome coffee table books that were beautiful gifts on the history of disco, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn.

  97. Chelsea Amanda says:

I am not dressing up for Halloween this year because I have no where to go this Halloween. Maybe next year I will be queen Khaleesi. Thanks for the chance!! & Happy Halloween! ๐Ÿ‘ป๐ŸŽƒ๐Ÿ’€

right now my brows are a six, I’ve been growing them out a little bit so I can reshape them so they aren’t looking their best.

  99. Lisa says:

My brows could look way better if I was more patient at tweezing…

  100. Jane says:

Glad to hear you’re taking some “me” time.Trust me, you need it.
My brows are thinning, but they’re about an “8”. My favorite drinking buddy atbthis point would be my husband. We do enjoy a glass or two of wine and beer now and then. Gid help us if we don’t have our coffee.
The biggest book currently in my collection would have to be “Life”, Keith Richards auto-biography. How that man still roams the earth is a miracle to me!

    Be well!

  101. Jane says:

That should read God help us if we don’t have our morning coffee!

  102. Sarah Sq. says:

I think my favorite drinking buddy is probably my dad ๐Ÿ˜€

  103. Almudena says:

I have not decorated our apartment for Halloween, there is no need, since kids only pay attention to our neighbour’s house. That house is da bomb! The scares every one, including me!

  104. Analy Rodriguez says:

My brows are super sparse and if I don’t use brow gel o brow powder, most likely you wouldn’t be able to see them within a short distance haha

  105. BlackAsphodel says:

No one has naturally perfect brows. I pluck mine, but am careful to not make them too thin as that ages you. I’d say they’re a 9 because they don’t have that perfectly groomed look to them. I don’t use any products to shape/color them.

  106. karleena says:

my brows are at a solid 7.5

  107. Maddie says:

The new MAC highlighters look pretty.

  108. Michelle L says:

Id rate mine at 3, they are not my favorite feature.

  109. Claudette Lariviere says:

if there is one feature I have that I been happy with it is my eyebrows… they have nice even appearance, not to thick not to thin … they are just right..:-)

  111. Sandra Adeyemi says:

I went on a trip to Senegal with colleagues. It was fun because it was time away from being a wife and a mum. Senegal is a beautiful country it is an island actually, surrounded by water. Their beach water is sparkling, we went to one of their very popular beaches were we were taught their traditional dance steps, tasted their different delicacies etc. The only challenge was language, their main language is french very few รถf them speak English. They also don’t eat pepper so when next I visit there I will travel with my pepper.
In all we had fun and learnt about the Senegal else culture and belief.

  112. Heather G says:

I’d rate my brows an 8 currently lol.

  113. BooBooNinja says:

Oh my gosh, I went to AndrewsOffDay’s YT on your recommendation.

  114. Kimm says:

    Hi Karen!
    How are you feeling?
I’m feeling so nauseous. The first trimester is so yucky. It’s like being hungover. All. Day. Long.
We are dissecting brians in class next week. That should be fun. Formaldehyde + morning sickness= bleh!!!!!
I did decorate for Halloween. On September 29th. It’s my favorite. I had to undecorate though because we are trying to sell our house. With #4 coming, we need a bigger place.
Anyhow… I’m gonna nap. Have a wonderful weekend! Are you dressing up for Halloween?

  115. Jennifer says:

Since I started doing my brows myself I’d say they are a solid 5!

  116. judyo says:

as a true minamilist, i don’t decorate for seasons. thanks for this chance

  117. Kecia S. says:

    Hi, Karen!

It’s a toss-up for the biggest book in my collection. The Times of London Atlas is the longest at 15″ (it’s 1 1/2 inches thick), but History of Art, 5th edition is the heaviest at 12″ long & 2 2/3″ thick.

  118. roz says:

My brow situation is at a six. Need to tweeze and shape up a little bit.

  119. Tracy Robertson says:

I give my brows a 9 because they are “natural beauties” and don’t need makeup like the rest of me, LOL! Luckily I never have to pluck, shape or even pencil them and they look pretty good. They could be a wee-bit darker and I like to use a little “Give Me Brow” brow mascara to make them pop when I feel inclined.

  120. Amy says:

I only have a Halloween door sign, but it is cute!

  121. Terri says:

My brows are at a 3 – they need some TLC stat!

  122. Juanita Zuluaga says:

On a scale of 1 to 10, i would totally rate my brows with a solid 9.5. They don’t need much filling up, they’re super thick and look very natural. I would say they were worthy of a 10 if they weren’t such a pain in the a** when they’re unplucked.

  123. Leslie Kiley says:

I have about a 8 in the eye brow department. They are super well shaped but need a waxing soon. I tend to go longer than I should because they are blond and not seen. Still I like it when my shadow goes on smooth.

  124. Teresa says:

I’d say my brows are a 8. Good shape just needs a slight tweezing and fill.

  125. Erin says:

My eyebrows are 10 right now. Just got them waxed!

  126. alice says:

Hubby and I went to England with my MIL. It was a BAD idea. The absolute worse!

  127. Lauren says:

Sooo happy you took it easy yesterday!! Do that every day you need to. It’s important for you and Baby Girl!! This is now Katen and baby time. ๐Ÿ™‚ On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being banginโ€™), how would you currently rate your brows? A 6.5. I have to find a good threader in my new city! Have you ever gone on a trip with a large group of people? Largest group would be my family of 6 when i was young…patents and 3 siblings. I dont think i would like traveling w a big crowd these days. I like to travel to get AWAY from crowds! ๐Ÿ™‚ Whoโ€™s your favorite drinking buddy? I don’t drink! My Mom is my favorite coffee buddy though! Whatโ€™s the biggest (as in physical size) book you own? Either rhe dictionary and/or all of my d nursing rrxt books. Have you decorated your home for Halloween? If so, tell me about it.Noook and im sooo sad…still unpacking from a move, and no longer live by target, walmart, meijer, etc. My good stores are gone! Honestly haven’t seen a decoration where I live now, and it makes me SO SAD! I love Halloween! Whatโ€™s one of your favorite textile patterns oh, Geeze, I’m so plain that I usually go for solids. Boring!

  128. sam says:

    Hey Karen ๐Ÿ™‚

Brows.. I can’t stand mine. When I was in my early teens I used to shave them and draw them really thin :s It took me until my early 20’s to grow back two whole brows but they’re sparse and thin. I would love to have full brows, I fill them in and enhance them as much as I can but I’ll never have thick brows.

& My favourite drinking buddy is my boyfriend(of 8 years). We often go out to a local hole in the wall bar with our large group of friends and have been doing so for a few years now. Always lots of fun!

    All the best

  129. Princessks says:

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being banginโ€™), how would you currently rate your brows?

  132. Bearby says:

    Hi Karen,

I am very lucky to have pretty natural and full eyebrows so I can use eyebrow pencil or gel for everyday look. Sometimes I even use darker eyeshadows if I can’t find my eyebrow pencil. Regardless of what I use, it takes less than 45 seconds or so to finish my brows. My question is what shade of eyebrow products should I use – darker or lighter than my hair?

  133. Diana says:

I love love love polka dots! It’s a problem.

  140. Nemo says:

My brows are good (at least an 8. ABH Dipbrow anybody? ๐Ÿ˜) but ask me about my blush and I’d say it’s a frickin 11. All nc42 girls should own MACs sweet as cocoa blush. Shimmering sweetness!!

  141. Tiffany says:

I did a DIY project for Halloween decorations…I turned a bunch of old pill and vitamin bottles into “spooky” witch bottles with names like bat wings and eye of newt! They turned out really well. Happy weekend!

  142. Sandy says:

I’m glad to hear that you have been resting Karen. I love to enjoy some wine the most with my book club buddies once a month. We always have a good time catching up and enjoying some laughs. Feels good!

  143. Maren says:

I have some amount of Halloween decor up year-round. Strings of flickering orange light and little faux-antique lanterns, and one of those pictures that looks normal from 1 angle and monstrous from another. Sometimes we add cobwebs to our door.

  145. Tania G says:

Karen, you look stunning. Hope you are feeling good. Did you feel the baby kick yet? That’s always has been my favorite part of pregnancy. Have a great weekend!

  146. Mitz says:

    Hi Karen,

I have serious brow issues, thanks to my dad. It’s really obvious that I got it from him (yes, it’s that bad).

Since my teenage years I’ve been struggling to have the perfect brows. I’ve been through so many ups and downs. And now is actually a bit of a down time.

My left brow is probably a 3, and my right brow is a 5 I guess. So the dilemma now is: do I make my right brow a 3 as well, or do I wait for my left brow to grow to a 5 and hope that it progresses from there?

    Trying to keep calm,

  147. Renee says:

The biggest book that I own is a compilation of Edgar Allen Poe’s work. Perfect for Halloween!

  148. Sienna says:

I have a bunch of pumpkins that light up from target, love them!

  149. Rosemary says:

I wore Tom Ford’s Nude Dip for the first time today. I’ve had it since it came out, and I was saving it for something special. Then I realized that every day is special. ๐Ÿ™‚

  150. Amy Q says:

Love the new Mac colors! Can’t wait to see more holiday sets!

Check out Amazon Mom. I loved it. Pampers Swaddlers were the best diapers for newborns and Amazon had the best price.

  151. Leah says:

The largest book I own is the complete works of William Shakespeare.

  152. Krizzie says:

I feel weird. I don’t even know what a textile pattern is lol

  153. It really is overwhelming for baby gear, then places like Babies R Us give you those helpful checklists that have 75% of the store on them, hah! Nice thing is too that a lot of things you can pick up as you go. Newborns don’t need a whole lot and are pretty flexible about where and when they sleep etc. At 33 weeks now I’m starting to get a little freaked out that we aren’t ready, having a second boy had given me a false sense of confidence “oh we don’t really need much new”, haha. We’re lucky that a few mom friends are offloading baby gear after having their last ones, so that’s taken care of the big stuff like a car seat.

My boys are 6 and 1, and with both of them I bought way more than I needed to. To be honest, if there’s a baby #3 I’ll probably buy too much stuff again! Just try and keep it simple and remember, target is only a short drive away!

  155. Susan Christy says:

In my travel career, I took a lot of large groups all over the US, Mexico & Europe. Greatest “job” and loved every minute.

  156. BLANCA says:

    I’ve never been very happy with my brows… A 5 ๐Ÿ™

  157. Hollie says:

The eyebrow question… Ugh.. Mine are at a 5 most of the time. I use to go crazy plucking them as a teenager. The thoight was, who wanted bushy brows ever? Well I wish I had what I had, then, now!!! What does seem to grow, grows in at all different times. I always have the tweezers in my hands!! Oh well, that’s what they make brow gel for.. I should’ve listened to my mother when she told me to leave them alone.

  158. Sara says:

My physics textbook has that honor… over 1,000 pages :/

  159. Brian says:

Brows are currently a 7. I was one of those who plucked too much in high school so they aren’t as full as I’d like, but they’re okay. I’ve made peace with them.

  163. Dani Bram says:

I’ve been obsessed with my brows lately, I’ve been using the Anastasia DipBrow Pomade and lemme tell you… IT’S THE BEST THING EVER! I seriously love it and make my brows go from a 6-7 to a 9-10! I loooove it!!!

  164. Stella Martis says:

    I like cats so much.

  165. ariel says:

My eye brows are so blonde you can’t see them. Still looking for the right eye brow pencil to make them show up better.

  166. Susan T. says:

I’d rate my brows a 3/10. They are not the worst I’ve ever seen and I do have brows so I get points for that! Unfortunately the are pretty thin and sparse and because they are blonde they just fade away into my face. They also don’t have an arch. They look like the frowns on two unhappy faces! Lol! ๐Ÿ™

  167. Tatiana says:

The Dear Husband is definitely my favorite drinking partner. As for textiles, I usually like solids, but a good paisley excites me.
Glad you got some good time for yourself in. Remember to get plenty of rest before baby girl is born. She’ll keep you on your toes for about the first six months.

  168. Efrain says:

When they’re without powder I’d say my brows are an 8 but when I put eyebrow pencil and mascara I can easily say 10.

  169. Kay says:

  170. Ms. Elise says:

  171. Rachel says:

I don’t like to travel with anyone but my husband… I usually get annoyed with anyone else and spend half the trip pissed off! I love to go out drinking with a couple of my buddies from work, Bobby and Alpesh. Not only do they understand work, which is great to complain about when drinking, but they are also absolutely awesome people and we can chat about all kinds of nerdy things!

  172. Lesley says:

My brows were great when I was younger but now…it’s as each brow hair has a mind of its own and I haven’t found anything strong enough to tame them.

We have many Halloween themed stuffed animals collected over the years such as Hello Kittys in different costumes, M&Ms characters dressed in different costumes, and stuffed pumpkins, withches etc.
This will be the first Halloween of my 22 years of marraige with nothing outside. My husband is working, my son is at college, my daughter and I won’t be home so first year no one is giving out candy!

  175. Alana says:

hmm… out of 10 my brows would be around an 8 in my opinion!

  176. Jamie says:

I don’t have a drinking buddy because I’ve never drank alcohol…it’s kinda funny, I actually planned on doing it for my birthday this year (I turned 29 in July) but then I found out that I’m pregnant, so I didn’t get to.

  179. Jackie says:

Hi! I would probably rate my eyebrows a 8-9. They’re Thick & can almost be identical to each other. The only thing is maintenance is tough cos of it being so thick & black!

  193. Janet Shepherd says:

Hmm, the biggest book I own is actually a set of very large books – a set of children’s encyclopaedias from the late 1800’s. I found them in my grandparents house after my grandmother passed away. About 8 very large, very thick books. I’m quite a book collector, and couldn’t bear to part with them. Currently they’re stored in boxes as I don’t have the shelf room for them yet. But soon hopefully!

My brows are a 3 or 4. I used to have decent brows. No problems, nice natural arch. Hardly had to pluck. Then peri-menopause hit. Now they’re sparse, uneven, hardly there! Can’t win.

  220. Ns says:

Biggest book I iwn is a pathology textbook.

  221. DSM says:

I’ve been blessed with thick hairy brows (the kind that used to touch when I was younger) but I’ve tamed them a bit and with the current fad of “big brow loving”, I’d say there are a 8-9 now! Got to love them!

  222. Birgit L. says:

My biggest book? The hardcover edition of “The Complete Far Side” by Gary Larson which weigh in at about 18 pounds I believe. Nothing to enjoy while taking a bubble bath that’s for sure, hahaha!

  223. Aeris says:

Three years in a row, I accompanied a group of student from the training center where I work to London. That meant between 25 and 30 persons!

It was stressful but so rewarding in the end! And even three years later, some students still tell me how great it was! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  224. Hannah Thomson says:

Got to be War and Peace love reading it at Christmas I’m so glad this is open to international applicants; Scotland needs an injection of MAC!! After watching your Chanel holiday 2015 collection video, wouldn’t it be amazing if Chanel did a Russian Christmas collection themed round Siberian luxe think Anna Karenina.. deep wine, gold, fur (no fur in the make-up obviously). Love your blog and videos by the way I completely agree about Zac Posen in Project Runway!

  225. Karenine says:

My brows be a 9 out of 10! Or so I’d like to think so ๐Ÿ˜€

  226. Wayne says:

    I’d rate my brows with a solid 7. ๐Ÿ™‚

  232. Bennie says:

Urgh…my brows. Ok I grew up in the 90s when thin eyebrows were in. Now they’re not. Due to being young and not experienced I over tweezed my brows. I’ve tried to grow them out but they grow out with the thin 90s look. Today they’re uneven and to help make them look even I have to keep them thin. Thank goodness for makeup because I can shade them in and make them look full. I give mine a 6.

  233. MBM says:

I’m loving all the holiday sets that are out. Though I know I’m overthinking it because I can’t decide on what to buy….because they all look good! ๐Ÿ™‚

  234. Alleycat says:

On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being banginโ€™), how would you currently rate your brows?

Hah. I’d rate it a five. Their shape already suits my face, but one has more scattered hairs, which I end up plucking, making it much thinner than the other.

  235. Haleigh Sluschewski says:

I am dying for the Mac mini essentials brush kit! I don’t have any Mac brushes and it seems to be an awesome set to try!

  236. caro barrera says:

    Hello! Kisses for you!!!

Hi Karen! Oh boy my favorite print would be damask for sure, specifically black and white or blue and red damask. I would rate my brows (of course when I’ve done them up) a solid 8, they can be pretty on-fleek but I definitely add a lot of definition with the ABH pencil otherwise I have too few hairs lol

  238. Patricia Sandquist says:

    2016 – Go Blue Jays!

  239. Audrey says:

Hope you have a good day!

  240. FIONA says:

Ooh… good questions. On a scale of 1-10, my brows are definitely a 6. I had them threaded a solid three weeks ago, and I’m starting to see some scruff growing back. I gotta get on that… thanks again for the generous giveaway ๐Ÿ™‚

  241. Anna says:

My brows are about an 8 before I do them and a 9.5 when I do them right.

  242. Anastassia says:

Hello Karen. Thank you for the giveaway. Have a nice week!

  243. Cyndi says:

I don’t do a whole lot of decorating for Halloween… just a couple window stickers I put on my front screen door. I do, however, decorate for fall, so there is a straw bale, some cornstalks, a couple pots of burgundy mums, and a bunch of pumpkins gracing my front porch! ๐Ÿ™‚

  244. annalisa says:

  252. Melissa says:

I’m so excited to know what your thoughts are going to be on the upcoming MAC liquid lipsticks! It’s been so long since a new product type from MAC.

  253. Jen says:

My brows are somewhere between a 7 or 8. They have a good shape and a nice, natural arch. In my 20’s all I had to do was make sure they were nicely cleaned up but as I get older (I’m in my 30’s) I notice I have spots to fill in that were never an issue before.

  254. Ida says:

I would currently rate my brows a 8 or 9, depending on if they behave the way I want them to. The struggle of having bold brows, when they refuse to lay in one direction.
    Hope u have a great day! ๐Ÿ™‚

  258. Hayley says:

Whatโ€™s one of your favorite textile patterns?

Houndstooth. Then more houndstooth. I love it. Scarves, stockings, skirts, tops, dress, vest, shoes, nail transfers.

Naturally I don’t wear it all together at once.

  259. Sylvia says:

This weekend we enjoyed a family Halloween party, lots of fun and good food for all.

  260. Lisa says:

I think one brow is about a 8 and the other is about a 6. Story of my life … One brow is good the other is not. Thanks for the chance to have some fun at Mac ๐Ÿ˜Š

  261. bin du says:

Cookbooks are the heftiest books I own!

  266. GJP says:

I was recently told my eye brows always look on point! I honestly try my best to keep my brow game up. I had one bad experience where my brows were terribly done and I had to get bangs to hide them! Since then, I always keep my brows clean and on point! ๐Ÿ˜‰

  267. Nathalia says:

    I’m team plaid 100%!

  268. Charlene says:

I would rate my brows a 6.5 out of 10. Shape isn’t bad but it is sparse, especially near the tail ๐Ÿ™ I don’t like leaving them bare as a result

  269. Denise says:

My brows are a 5…my diabetes medicine has resulted in thinning hair, including my eyebrows. It’s deflated my confidence a bit, but thanks to your blog i’m exploring makeup more and regaining my confidence through tutorials.

Makeup is amazing–it’s not about looking good for other people; it’s about bringing you up when you’re feeling low and giving yourself the confidence to take on the world!

  270. em says:

i went on a trip with 20 people for a destination wedding. it was fun and scary at the same time as i only knew 2 people on the trip along with the bride and groom.

  271. Candace says:

Honestly Karen, I would probably rate my brows, unfilled, at like a 4 but give me a pencil or a little brow powder and I can easily bump those puny brows up to an 8!

  272. Jess says:

I would say my eyebrows are about a 5 or 6, I made the big mistake in my teenager years of doing my eyebrows myself and I been trying to grow them for the past year or so. I need to find an expert on brows and hopefully help me reshape them!

  273. Melinda says:

My cat is my favorite drinking buddy, sad but true story. I’m a hermit crab and I tend to drink more at home with him by my side or actually in my lap in most circumstances. Wouldn’t have it any other way ๐Ÿ™‚

  274. Mel says:

I don’t have a family of my own yet so I haven’t had the chance to truly decorate for Halloween in the ways that I want to. But every time Im in marshalls or home goods I can’t wait for the day that I have a true reason to decorate for holidays.

  275. Al says:

Thanks for the giveaway, Karen! ๐Ÿ™‚

  276. Kirsten says:

Whatโ€™s one of your favorite textile patterns?

I pretty much love anything with leaves on it. Branches and leaves– but they have to be somewhat naturally colored. Pastels are okay, but vivid purples, blues, oranges etc. are not.

  277. Illy Junus says:

On the scale 1-10, I give my brows 6, and if i do my brow, maybe about 8….

  278. Gina B. says:

    Hi Karen,
I just know that one of these days I’m going to win!!!! I just know it!! I have things in my shopping basket! I hope you are feeling better emotionally – I sure know how it can be. You look so adorable and cute. Your skin is amazeballs. I’m feeding three outside kitties that have adopted me. Gracie says “hi”. It was a beautiful fall day here – chilly. Gotta go to work.
Hope you had a grand Sunday,

  279. Brittany says:

The only trips I can remember taking with a group was to compete in a cross country running event… it was in 6th grade. It was a fun experience though.

  293. Cathy says:

I’m not a big drinker- I actually hardly drink at all but when I do it’s either with my husband, my best friends or my sister in law.

  294. Michaela says:

Hi Karen! Hope you are doing well and the baby! By the way you look georgeous as pregnancy does something not nice to some women’s complexions because of the hormones and stuff. Anyway my favorite fabric pattern would have to be the “herringbone pattern”. It looks so classy & put together. I used to have s suit with that type of pattern but have since recycled it. Tried looking for it in the clothing stores but haven’t seen it lately.

  295. andrea amy says:

    Thanks for the giveaway!

  300. Kimberly says:

For my birthday, we went 10 people in Milano during 3 days. It was a fabulous experience//
    Kiss from Paris

  302. Lee says:

    My brows, are not banging.
They look like bushy caterpillars, and I need to get them done ASAP.
    So, I guess Iโ€™d give them a 2/10.

  303. Jenna M says:

My biggest book is biple! ๐Ÿ˜€

  304. My brows are a 6, I guess. I need help shaping them.

  305. Nina says:

I went on a cruise with about 24 people one time. Perfect thing about a cruise is you really only need to see them when it’s time for dinner!

  306. Anne-Marie says:

My brows are 5. They’re a bit too long and too blonde for my hair.

  313. Bennie says:

My brows are a 6. Due to inexperienced tweezing as a teenager and in the 90s my brows are uneven. Thankfully makeup helps to make them look more full.

  314. Trude says:

My brows are down to about a 7 right now because California’s state board stopped letting service salons do brow tinting thanks to a recent FDA ruling on brow and lash tinting. So I was only able to get them waxed last weekend, and now I have to teach myself how to use the kit I picked up at Sally’s. Not the end of the world, but it’s just so convenient for a natural blonde like me to get them tinted as long as she’s already shaping them, you know?

  315. Tatiana says:

What a great question lol! I’d rate my eyebrows as an 8. They’re not bad, just not as full as I’d like them to be, and I have 2 small bold patches just on one of them that absolutely bug the hell out of me, and that I hate having to fill out. I’m a very lazy girl, and wish I could go without having to fill them out everyday.

  316. Amanda says:

  319. Pamela Haddad says:

Brows? I’d say a 4. Not really liking my brows now! They’re getting a little sparse and it’s driving me crazy. Oh well, that’s what Anastasia is for. Glad you had a good weekend and hope that the latest Sephora class was great!

    My brow,9

  328. Eileen says:

Wow, is the MAC giveaway every week?

  329. Melissa says:

I think my brows are at an 8. I didn’t overpluck in the 90s and I stopped plucking altogether when I turned 30, so mine are currently on fleek, yay! Love all the eyebrow role models of today. Lookin at you Cara! ๐Ÿ™‚

  330. Neni says:

    Hi Karen!
Well currently, my brows are an 8ish… if that makes any sense…:D
My drinking buddy has got to be my older brother… he totally gets it!!!

  331. I love MAC so much, I’ve gotten into really enjoying doing makeup recently

  332. Rachel says:

My brows are very frustrating to me. When done, I’d say I have one 7-8 and one 4-5. I just can’t get one to re-grow! One came back in great after a bad wax but not the other! So I’m really pushing the “sisters not twins” line.

  333. Anna says:

    1) Brows- not too bad. With the brow wiz, I’m fine with them! 6 without, 10 with.

2)Whoโ€™s your favorite drinking buddy? Only my husband- and only I drink! ๐Ÿ™‚ I would hate to drink around around anyone else.

3)Have you decorated your home for Halloween? No! I only decorate for Christmastime so far. The rest of the year, a vase of flowers suits me wonderfully!

You are the best! I wish you and your little baby girl so much happiness!

  334. Lisa says:

The brows are a 1 right now. But I have a good reason. I have been “growing them out”, so I can go to the Benefit Brow bar, and get them done how I want. My appointment is wednesday! yay!

My favorite drinking buddy is my husband! He is so fun to be around and hilarious to watch!

  336. Carol says:

Love your page! waiting for halloween!!!

  337. Arlette Jacome says:

I’d say my eyebrows are an 8 right now. I finally got around to waxing my eyebrows but I personally wax my eyebrows, so I wasn’t able to do them as cleanly as a professional would. I pride myself in my wonderfully shaped brows so no complaints on that but they definitely could be cleaner ๐Ÿ™‚

  338. CIARRA says:

My brows would have to be a four right now considering I usually get them threaded every 3-4 weeks but I rarely had the time! Hopefully I can get them to a 10 in the next couple of days!

  339. Tosha H says:

In 4th or 5th grade I went with my class to the Omni Theater in Fort Worth, Texas and it was insanely cool and a little scary at the same time– I’d love to go back actually!

  340. Linda says:

Ugh, my brows are like a 4 at best. Luckily they’re blonde so they’re hard to see!

  341. S says:

Thanks to the tinted brow freeze pencil from Sephora my brows are 10/10 right now!

  342. Victoria Rees says:

I rate my brows a 5 I guess. They could be better. Been hard for to do some grooming for myself. I’m always busy taking car of my 1 year old, cleaning, cooking for finding an hour to myself. I don’t have money, haven’t had money to buy anything for myself. We can barely buy diapers and wipes. I try to enter as much giveaways as possible for anything and I never. Hopefully I win soon.

  343. Elena says:

I was on an athletic scholarship when I was in undergraduate, and every winter break we would take a training trip to a warm location. We were on the swim team, and the height of our season was in January, so our coach would sort of bribe us with an exotic trip in exchange for intensive training. I’m not complaining! But it did get tough traveling with 30 people every January… definitely some funny memories though!
