As you know, I have been not-so-secretly involved in a serious relationship with someone named TJ for a long time, and um… Well, we got into a big to-do recently when TJ came home one day with a new Fearless Flyer…which looked totally different than the old Fearless Flyer I love.
I don’t know what transpired since then, but the regular Fearless Flyer is back [INSERT HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF HERE].
Oh, how I’ve missed your rambling leads, witty wordplay, cartoons and fun facts… Yay! 🙂
Here’s some stuff our family is currently crazy about from Trader Joe’s. I plan to get all of these again, maybe even today, because I need another…
Bag of these freeze-dried mangoes
They’re by the nuts and trail mix at our store (and the beef jerky, which El Hub always looks at longingly)
It’s really just a bag of freeze-dried mango slices. That’s it. No added sweeteners or preservatives.
They’re almost like freeze-dried ice cream… Have you ever that? They’re light, sweet and airy, almost like a vanilla wafer but softer.
One bag is a single serving of 190 calories. I eat them straight from the bag when I’m craving something sweet and healthy, but somebody on Instagram told me that they’re really delicious in a Greek yogurt parfait with granola and other kinds of fruit.
I haven’t tried that yet, but you can bet I will.
Frozen cha siu bao, also known as manapua in Hawaii
These little dough dumplings are so good! They have a dollop of sweet and savory pork in them.
I mean…they aren’t like getting fresh bao from a Chinese bakery, because nothing beats that, but they’re pretty tasty and easy to make.
.
You can microwave or steam them, but I prefer to steam them, because I think it makes the dough softer. They’re ready in less than 10 minutes (be careful, though, because the inside gets molten hot). There’s four in a bag for $2.99.
Hold the cone!
OH, MY GOSH! I can’t believe I haven’t talked about these tiny ice cream cones yet. I believe they’re only 70 calories, and El Hub, who considers himself a connoisseur of chocolate, says they have the tastiest chocolate shell of any ice cream cones in the world.
I can’t argue with that. 🙂
They have them in chocolate or vanilla ice cream with sugar cones.
So dainty, and so delicious!
I don’t usually have any self-control when it comes to the sweet stuff, but one of these hits the spot for me after dinner. They’re perfectly portioned.
Yay for yummies!
So, what should I try next from Trader Joe’s??
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

As a lover of mango anything, I’ll have to try the freeze dried ones. I also love their mango and cream bars!
Karen says
Hi Rhia,
I have a package of the mango and cream bars in my freezer right now! 🙂 Hopefully you can find the freeze dried ones. I grabbed the last bag in my store!
Tiffany says
The have frozen coconut chunks now! I cannot wait to try them in smoothies. The coconut cocoa cold brew is really good too.
Karen says
Ahhh, that sounds delicious!
By the way, I bought a coconut flavored dental floss by a brand called Cocofloss and it’s really good. 🙂

You always have the best recs at TJ! I just wish we had one nearby.

Hopefully you’ll get one soon!

I love the chocolate or almond croissants. They are in the frozen section. You leave them out overnight to rise and bake them in the morning for 20 minutes. It’s almost like being in a Paris cafe and much cheaper. The French fries are good as well.
Karen says
I tried the chocolate croissants once and they were divine. Haven’t tried the fries… Do you have to fry them or bake them in the oven?
Basak says
Karen, your complexion is divine in these photos!! Is it the new IT cosmetics foundation you were talking about?? Any powder?
Karen says
Aww, thanks Basak. In these pics I’m wearing a full coverage look, which is more than I usually do for real life, buuuut right now I actually have a big pimple on my chin (notice how I’m strategically holding things over my chin, haha), so I decided to go with full-on coverage. Anyway, all the face/foundation products are BECCA:
1) I prepped with BECCA Velvet Blurring Primer Perfecting Base
2) Then I applied BECCA Ultimate Coverage Foundation in Bamboo with my fingers
3) I set everything with a light dusting of BECCA Soft Light Blurring Powder in Pink Haze
I’m still testing everything so at this moment can’t say yet if they’re a yes or a no, but I like how it looks in pics. 🙂 Will keep you updated.
Basak says
Thank you for all the information! Maybe, it is your skin looking awesome and the products are icing on the cake 🙂 I will check in for your reviews of the base and the powder; I am curious about those.
Karen says
Aww, thanks girl. Full coverage can be fun sometimes! 🙂 I hope you’re having a great Friday so far. What are you doing this weekend?
Kim says
Sometimes (OK, all the time) you make me laugh so hard. I would never have noticed your strategic chin hiding but had to go back to check it out. Too funny!!
I haven’t been to TJs in a year – our closest is an hour away and we’re not often in that area with extra time. Anyway, I was dying to try the super sweet Clementines you were talking about. Maybe next year! We usually grab baguettes and camembert, and snacks like Inner Peas that are hard to find around here. The boys like the gummy penguins. 🙂
Karen says
Girl. I can’t even imagine not being able to go to TJ’s for a year. My whole universe would unravel!
Glittergirley says
Whatever you do, do NOT get the crispy rice mochi snacks (in the snacks section), unless you want in addiction to these inexplicably delicious and yet simple snacks. Mmmmm.
Tatiana says
I haven’t been to TJ’s in a while. Nora’s favorite double wide cat scratching pad comes from there. They also have these sachets filled with lavender in the laundry products area. I throw one in the dryer with my sheets and they come out smelling lovely.

Trader Joe’s is Disneyland for cheap foodies!
