I don’t do a whole lot of interviews (because no one ever asks, LOL!), but I did one this week for Beth over at Glamour’s beauty blog, The Girls in the Beauty Department.
In the interview I talk about blogging, beauty and the stick of purple Wet n’ Wild eyeliner that changed my life. Click here to see what that’s all about.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Awww, such a cute interview. And a cute picture to boot 🙂
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
Thanks! How is your day going?
Audrey says
Great interview! One of my friends had a similar introduction to make-up with her mom at the Clinique counter. I think that is such a great idea!

Hi Audrey,
Thanks! 🙂 LOL, Clinique is a total “gateway” makeup drug for so many people!
Chris says
Now how cool is that? You are in great company in that series and good to see you getting some recognition.
Clinique was my first “real” makeover when I stepped from drugstore to department store. Somehow I always keep a Clinique Almost Brown eyeliner in my stash even though I rarely use it anymore (cause the super cool MA told me it was perfect for me lol).
Dao says
Congrats, Karen! You are a superstar!
Vanessa says
Congrats Karen! Gorgeous as always!
Karen says
Hi Chris,
Thank you. 🙂 I am a big fan of that series, too, so it was nice to get asked to participate.
Anyhoo, Almost Brown! That’s an old school goodie for me. Other old school Clinique favorites: New Clover blush, Raspberry Glace lipstick, Black Honey lipstick and Fawn Satin eyeshadow (remember when you could get it as single?). How about you?
Karen says
Hi Dao,
You are so sweet. 🙂 I hope that your week is off to a good start. How’s school been? Has it eased up any for you?
Karen says
Hi Vanessa,
Thank you, hon!
I hope you’re doing well. How’s the working out going? I think I’ll be able to sneak in a run today, finally!
Wendy says
Thats really cool! You look lovely on the picture!
Karen says
Hi Wendy,
Thank you! 🙂
Hope you’re having a lovely Tuesday!
Elle says
Great interview, Karen–and you look gorgeous in the picture too. I remember my makeup obsession started with some eyeliner too, that I probably applied in raccoon-like circles around my eyes–it’s so random what will get you hooked, eh? Love the new site layout as well! Have a great day!
Karen says
Hi Elle,
I know for sure I looked like a purple-eyed raccoon, LOL. It was NOT cute! 🙂
Anyway, what’s going on with you this week? I’m already ready for Friday, ha ha…
Stephie says
Woo! Congrats on getting interviewed. Did you style yourself for the picture or did the Glamour crew do you up? You looked very professionally chic 🙂 Great interview too!
Karen says
Hi Stephie,
Thanks! I took that pic myself from a few months ago. 🙂 I think I was having a good hair day for once. Good hair creates minor miracles.
How’s your day going?
Amber says
Karen,
This is awesome. You look adorable in the pic too! Congrats on the coverage… dang I wish Real Talk would get going already! Take care!

Hi Amber,
Thank you for popping by and saying hi!
I wish Real Talk would get going already, too. I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Oh, congrats on your upcoming trip to NY!
lesley says
Hooray for you, Karen! 🙂 That picture is so pretty! Did the folks at Glamour style you up or did you do the look yourself… because if that’s the case, a break down would be well appreciated! 😀
I hope you have an especially good day today–most especially since the weather is pretty nice out!
Karen says
Hi Lesley,
I wish the Glamour folks did me up! That pic was from awhile back, it’s the Clarin’s So Sublime quad and a few other things. I believe it’s still available at the counter if you want to check it out. Here’s a link to the post that gives a breakdown of the look.
Are you catching some sun today? I hope so! I’m off for a quick run in a few. 🙂
Vampy Varnish says
Very cool Karen, congrats! The pic is awesome also. 🙂
Chris says
Other Clinique faves: Superbalm, Glossy Natural mascara (been a while since I bought one though)and Delovely lipstick.
I think some of us (ahem, meaning me) overlook Clinique sometimes for the great basics in the lineup.
Katherine says
Congraulations, Karen! That’s awesome. 🙂

It was pretty good. I’ve been studying my Swedish (which was long overdue) so I feel accomplished today 🙂 Just had a lovely dinner and they’re now off to watch Sister Act somewhere else so I can work some more 🙂

Hehe, cute interview! And ITA with the reader that left the third comment on the page – I check your blog like 3x a day too, lol. 😀
Karen says
Hi Vampy Varnish,
Thank you! 🙂
I hope your back is feeling better today.
Karen says
Hi Chris,
Have you tried their new High Impact Curling mascara? It’s actually really amazing!
I will have to peep Delovely lipstick the next time I’m at the counter… that ones new to me.
Karen says
Hi Katherine,
Thanks! 🙂
How was your Tuesday?
Karen says
Hi A. Rose,
Thanks, hon! 🙂 I hope you had a nice day today.
Karen says
Hi Gio,
Thank you!
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
I think it’s so awesome that you can speak so many languages. I’ve heard Swedish a few times and it sounds really neat. How long have you been studying it?
Karen says
Hi Amanda,
Thank you! 🙂 LOL, I sooo got lucky with that picture. It was a good hair day, for sure.
How was your day?
Karen says
Hi Briana,
Thanks, hon!
Karen says
Hi Lilan,
You would look fabulous in Birthday Suit or Delta! 😉
Karen says
Hi Luv J.,
Thanks! I wish I could get my own page, LOL!
Did you have a good Tuesday?
Karen says
Hi Catherine,
Awww! You are so sweet! 🙂
Lilan says
I have Atoll – do you think it’s similar?
I actually bought that one a long time ago and thought of our previous comment conversation about liquid shadow. I never did a review on it – what are your thoughts on the formula?
Happy Fat Tuesday to you! Are you doing anything Mardi Gras-inspired today?
Lilan´s last blog post..Pretty Elizabeth Arden Fragrance & Contest
Karen says
Hi Lilan,
I think Delta might be a bit more cool.
The liquid shadow is definitely quick and easy! I also like how it doesn’t require fingers. The thinness of it might be challenging at first, but I think once you know what you’re working with then it gets easy.
I wish I did something fun and Mardi-Gras inspired. I ended up just reading and going to sleep. How about you?
lexi says
Karen,
i enjoyed reading this at work – it made the rest of my day! we know have to share you with a wider audience – that is so awesome – you are inspiring to others who dream of turning their hobbies into a fabulous career!
that being said, i need to get off my lazy butt and revise the ‘ol resume – i know i was supposed to get this done about a month ago!
Karen says
Hi Lexi,
🙂 Thank you!
Resumes are really challenging to write. I took mine out a month ago and I swear it was like a shot of stress right into my veins. Are you revamping yours because you’re considering a career change?
lexi says
Your story reminded me the first time my mom caught me wearing makeup – I think she was more mad that i was wearing wet and wild so she bought me a maybelline palette and lipgloss! She pretty much was my enabler – I was wearing Lancome throught out high school – she bought my first red Dior lipstick at 15 – I did get spoiled and maybe this is why I can’t wear drugstore brands no matter how improved the brand has become…
Karen says
Hi Lexi,
LOL! I remember so many eighth grade conversations starting with the words, “My mom caught me wearing makeup.” Ha ha ha!
Do you still have any of that Lancome makeup? I held onto my Clinque stuff for a long time for sentimental reasons.
Michelle says
Wow congrats, that must be so exciting! You look beautiful in your picture too.
Clinique was my first department store brand makeup. I didn’t realize this was common! LOL
Karen says
Hi Michelle,
🙂 Thank you!
Clinique seems to be a popular gateway makeup drug. It’s still one of my favorite brands!
Karen B says
Well, since I came here a bit more than a month ago. It’s pretty challenging I have to say because it’s really from scratch but I hope I can speak it a bit by the time I leave.
ParisB says
Ooh I was so inspired by that picture of yours, I got the Clarins palette! 😀 Congrats on the interview. It was very “you” 🙂

This is awesome! I read Glamour, so it’s great to see a familiar face on their website. =)
Elle says
Not much for this week, Karen–just getting some work-outs in and impatiently waiting for spring! I am completely ready for Friday too… 🙂
lexi says
ha OMG – i wish i held onto my favorite lancome lipsticks – actually that probably would be gross
and yes i’m itching for a career change -actually i want a career and not just a job!!!
Karen says
Hi Lexi,
I hear ya. I think it makes a difference when you’re really invested in your work. 🙂 Then again, I gotta say having a gig where you can just leave your work at work and not have to take it home with you is a plus. I’ve had both types of jobs and they both have pros and cons.
