Good morning, beauties. 🙂
There’s no denying it — we’ve entered the rainy season out here in Northern California. Let’s hope all those wine grapes growing up in Napa Valley appreciate all this wetness and put it to good use, LOL! And I guess the weather also gives me an excuse to cruise for new boots…
BOOTS!
I hold them in high footwear regard, right behind platforms heels and flip-flops, and I’ve had my eye on this pair of Fiddler booties from Seychelles.
Be still my booty heart!
Do you have a favorite pair of boots?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Love the booties, Karen!
I just scored a similar style at DSW…they are taupe peep-toe booties with ruffles cascading down the front. Never thought I’d be able to pull them off, but they look amazing with a dress and tights!
Buying a new pair of shoes is such a thrill!

Kristen – I tried on those SAME booties!!! They are so amazing. I didn’t buy them (YET), but I’m trying to figure out an outfit that would be suitable to justify buying them! I LOVE THOSE BOOTS! Here they are! http://www.dsw.com/dsw_shoes/catalog/product.jsp?index=47&sort=&category=dsw10cat120040&prodId=190798&brand=

Hi Tracy and Kristen,
SO CUTE! I gotta say — Jessica Simpson’s people make some seriously cute shoes.

Hi Blovet Beauty,
Cute, I love knee-length boots. What color are they?
Kajal Couture says
Those are really cute! My fave are a pair of grey suede ankle boots I got last winter to wear with dresses and skirts, but they look really cute with skinny jeans too! They are super stylish and trendy, but I love them more because they are Hush Puppies so they are soooo comfy! Who knew comfort brands could make cute shoes?!?!?!

Hi Kajal Couture,
A few of the “comfort” brands have gotten really cute over the last few years. I’m a big fan of Aerosoles.

I LOVEEEEEEEEE boots! I have about 10 pairs and want like 8 million more. I have 3 pairs that I am especially partial to though.
One pair is by Jessica Simpson and is super soft tan leather & to the knee . Another pair is by Steve Madden and they are dark brown, totally worn in motorcycle boots. Then the other pair are Star Ling black leather with silver hardware and are mid calf. Oh and they are all pretty flat because I can’t really do heels much 🙁

Seychelles is a great brand! I have the most awkward of feet and they always fit me. I might hafta hunt those booties down! One year I got a pair of Seychelles slip on flats, and I wore them until there were holes in the bottom! And I got them at a street sale for $2.50. I’m not kidding. How I loved those shoes….

You should not be scaring people with that picture!! 🙂

omg yes! I *finally* got a pair of nice, snazzy boots last winter. They’re fairly similar to the Seychelles; they’re the Sofft Freeda booties in black leather. mm mm!

I have more boots than I can count. I especially like the ones that come up to mid calf and the knees. My all time favourite pair had to be this pair from Aldo doing my grungier days though they are comptemporary/classic enough to be still worn today. They are knee high black with a chunk 3 inch rubber heel. They are very comfortable and I wore them for 5 years before the heel worn down. The leather got so soft and buttery. I haven’t found I pair like that since then. 🙁 Nowadays I have a gray suede flat pair that goes up past the knee but can be fold and scrunch down to a short length.

Boots are my fave! I love fall, I get funny looks when I wear boots smoky/vampy makeup in the summertime!
I’m currently lemming the Ugg Smithfield (like the ham, LOL!) boot, a knee-high style with a low heel (but not flat like the standard Uggs) and a fabulous, corset-like lace-up detail up the back! All that and it’s water-proof and chock-full of fleecy goodness on the inside! I’m saving up to get them next month! 🙂

Those are some seriously cute booties! I need to find myself a pair of leather/synthetic ones. All my current shoes are suede or cloth – not waterpoof at all!

Oh gosh, I love boots!
I have a pair of slouchy cowboy boots that I wore nearly every day for weeks after a horrible break-up. The extra height encouraged me to stand up straight and act brave, and “click, click” of my stride made me feel important when I felt so broken.
It’s been a few years, but I still break them out when I need a dose of confidence. 🙂

I do love me some boots, girl. I’m going to have to start off with a little bit of back story before I tell you about my favorite boots. I’m not sure if I’ve ever mentioned it here, but I had a gastric bypass six years ago, and I lost over a hundred pounds. No matter what size I am, I carry most of my weight on my hips and legs. Even after losing all that weight though, my legs never got back to normal, so I can’t fit into regular boots. I’m not putting myself down (just being realistic) when I say that I have cankles the size of tree trunks, but I digress. I discovered wide-calf boots a couple of seasons back but was disappointed by the selection and the inflated prices so I kind of gave up on boots for a while.
Then last fall I decided to search again and found some really cute ones online for about $150 (which isn’t too bad for genuine leather just below the knee boots). I decided to look on eBay just to see if I could find them cheaper, and holy mother of trout, I hit the motherlode. I ended up getting three pairs for less than one pair at the original price (even with shipping costs). So now I have a pair each of black, dark brown and tan boots that I wear with dresses, skirts, and over straight leg jeans. I didn’t think I could pull it off but somehow it works. The only thing that sucks is that I have to wear inserts in them because they are also wide in the shoe, and I don’t have wide feet but they don’t seem to make wide-calf in regular width. Go figure.

Hi Sole,
No, you never told me about that. That’s a huge life-changing decision to make. Were you scared when you went into the operation?
Solé says
Btw, I love Seychelles! Most of the shoes I own are by Seychelles.
Karen says
Hi Sole,
So jealous of your family of Seychelles shoes! I need more in my life. 🙂
Kristen says
Tracy,
Nice choice on the JS boots from DSW – clearly, you have a good taste! I must warn you, though, they are KILLER on your feet. I was practically born in heels and after wearing them for a full day at work, I was wimpering softly as I walked to my car. Unbearable! The heel is deceptively high and after awhile, they really start to hurt your whole foot. (And forget walking on cobblestone streets or uneven asphalt.)
They look amazing with dresses and skinny jeans, though! Totally worth the pain.

I was scared but also really excited. It was my first major surgery so naturally there was a lot of anxiety tied to that, but more than anything I was just ready to do it. I was about 20 – 30 lbs overweight most of my life but during my first marriage I gained like 100 lbs due to some medical problems I was going through. After I lost that weight I settled back into my usual 30 lbs over but honestly, that doesn’t even bother me. I’m just happy to be back to myself again. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Sole,
It sounds like it was quite a journey. I’m glad to hear that you are now happy in your skin. Such a wonderful feeling — cherish it!
