You know what’s weird? Between El Hub and Tabs, I’m surrounded by dudes 24/7, and interestingly enough, they usually smell similar — like a blend of boxed mashed potatoes, over-ripe peaches, tuna and preserved meat.
Sometimes, though (like when he’s too lazy to shower), El Hub will do me a solid by spraying Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Pour Homme on himself.
It’s my flat-out favorite men’s cologne. Even amidst the backdrop of eau de mashed potatoes, peaches, etc., the light and citrusy, yet masculine, scent still makes me swoon.
Sometimes I’ll even steal a spritz or two… 🙂
Oh! And here’s the best part: whenever El Hub is wearing it and Tabs climbs up on his shoulders, which he does at least once a day for lurvies, the scent permeates his fur.
Sweet!
As a woman (or a dude!), what’s your favorite men’s cologne or deodorant?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Happy hump day.

Creed Himalaya
First thing that came to mind and has been for years now. Just hot.
Talking Bowl says
My favorite is Curve for Men. A former roommate said she preferred it to the women’s version, and having tried it I agree with her. I also like Tuscany, but I’ve been unable to find it in about 15 years.

I love Light Blue pour homme too! <3
Sami says
Bleu de Chanel!!!! Ahhhhhh the best ever

I love Aqua Fahrenheit by Dior, Bleu de Chanel, D&G Light Blue Discover Vulcano and a Calvin Klein Eternity Summer 2014. If I had to pick only one, Bleu de Chanel !

Chanel Allure Homme Sport. Amazing.

Nautica for men. I don’t know if they even make it anymore, but it smells like my high school boyfriend… happiness and freedom.

By Kilian Back to Black, or Bulgari Black. Mmmmmmmmmmm
Denise S. says
Lol I own both of those scents and wear them myself especially during the cooler seasons. I love Back to Black tobacco scent and several other by Kilian fragrances.Love the incense in Bulgari Black goes great with cashmere sweaters.

My guy doesn’t and won’t wear a fragrance, but I used to adore Givenchy Gentleman that my old friend’s ex-husband used to wear. I wear Musc Ravageur which is a fabulous gender-neutral scent that many men do wear. Love it
Denise S. says
I love and wear Frederic Malle’s Musc Ravageur too! A sexy warm cinnamon musk scent.
Phyrra says
I love it when my husband wears Axe Anarchy. It smells so good to me!
Maria says
L’Artisan Timbuktu.
This is the best masculine frag out right now.
Run out and catch a whiff.
It is also Hugh Jackman’s favorite; need I say more???
Aida says
My absolute favorite colognes on my husband are Chanel Allure (the original, not the sports version), Chanel Bleu and Burberry Brit Rhythm. All three are amazing!
Donna says
Creed Aventus – amaaaaaazing scent and sooooo sexy…

I love wearing mens cologne and I love it when hubster has it on too. I share is sooo… ya lol. We don’t wear the same scent at the same time though, FYI. Ralph Lauren 3 (green bottle), Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme and Dolce&Gabbana Classic. Smells soooooo good, light refreshing scents and all three have a hint of citrus in it. Mens frgrance stay on longer and womens for some strange reason. Oh he also wears Axe sprays but they’re too strong for me but they smell good on him. ;]
butterdaisy says
For my husband, I like him in Polo. The original green bottle. That scent just knocks me of my feet and no other cologne he’s ever had or I’ve smelled has that effect on me. The man cologne that is awesome and should be marketed as unisex is Old Spice Wolfthorne! Hubby and I both love it and I can’t believe how great it smells on a man and a woman. It’s just the perfect scent mixture. We use the entire line (deoderant, cologne, body spray and body wash).
Leonie says
I always loved Davidoff Cool Water.. and Ralph Lauren Polo #3
Denise S. says
My husband has been wearing Jean Paul Gaultier’s Le Male cologne for years. I like it but wish he’d try to switch it up sometimes. I brought him several others as gifts, Bleu de Chanel and a few others but he doesn’t use them. Had a old boyfriend who wore Grey Flannel and it smelled good on him.

Men always smell so different, and some really need a cologne more than others, haha 🙂 Some guys have this magnetizing natural odor that’s some blend of their body wash and laundry detergent, and if that was bottled and sold, I’d buy it in scented candle form, lol! But as an additional scent, I looooove Acqua di Gio. I can’t get enough of it. The man I’m currently dating sometimes dons a spritz of this and I always find a way to cuddle up so I can sniff it, haha! I also love the Acqua di Gioia- I don’t have a proper bottle (I’m on perfume embargo until I make a bigger dent in my fragrance collection) but I do have a free sample vial from Sephora and it’s going fast, haha!
Ruchita says
My husband has more colognes than I do perfume! 🙂 I don’t remember all the names, but there is one by John Varvatos that I like. Surprisingly, there is one from Abercrombie & Fitch that smells pretty good. I think it’s called Fierce.
cloudywings says
ones i love all happen to be old scents ! chanel pour monsieur, kouros by ysl, vetiver by guerlain. classics….
Vespers says
Gaultier’s Le Male is always kind of a pleasant surprise to smell on a guy, but I think my #1 is leaning in and catching a whiff of Tom Ford’s Tobacco Vanille. Sooo nice. That’s one I’ve almost considered buying for myself.
Paula says
My partner never really wore cologne, but last year he tried Prada Amber Pour Homme Intense. He loves it & continues to wear it. I love it on him!
Alyza says
I have a certain soft spot for Acqua Di Gio because it reminds me of my father, who I don’t get to see often! Every time I do see him though, he’s wearing this scent! I find it nice, clean, and manly smelling without being overpowering.
Kat says
haha, that scent always reminds me of my dad, too! It’s all he wore for years when I grew up. He’s switched it up now though, but that scent will always be “his scent” to me^^
Cathy says
Viktor and Rolf for men. The women’s scent is my favourite perfume of all time, so it’s a no-brainer. Hubby prefers the summer version of it, but they’re both divine.
Diana says
S8 Night by Oriflame! It’s night fragrance but doesn’t smell too sharp. It smells a little like warm cupcake actually.
Emily says
Carolina Herrera’s 212 Sexy Men (brown bottle) is amazing!! It has such a unique not overwhelming smell.
Chelsea says
My husband owns so many colognes, he loves cologne. My favorite of his is Jean-Paul Gaultier Le Male Terrible. I like his others too though: Diesel Only the Brave, Burberry Brit, Burberry Touch. He doesn’t own Viktor & Rolf SpiceBomb, but he has some samples and wants to get that one too.
Rosemary says
I love Chanel Bleu or Plantium Egoiste. Smells amazing!
Jennifer says
Bruit. My dad wore that cologne. Its not super popular, but the sent always brings back happy childhood memories
FreshEyre says
Tears in my eyes over that, Jennifer – my dad wore that, too, and I still have a bottle that I’ll splash a bit on myself just to remind me of him. My boyfriend has also been persuaded to wear a bit because of my positive reaction. Don’t care if it’s “old fashioned” – it’s a classic !
As for day-to-day me, I’m a HUGE fan of Jennifer Aniston, and I wear her fragrance every single day – subtle, not too flowery, and somehow makes me feel like I’m her friend or something for wearing her product. I’m weird, I know (!) but it’s a great scent – very warm, slightly spicy, not overwhelming. If she’s reading – hello, Jennifer Aniston !!!
Em says
Yves Saint Laurent L’Homme and Gucci by Gucci Por Homme are my go-to scents. I love them on me as well as on my counterpart.
Elisabete says
Le Male, by JPG… It makes my head go round! 😀

Bleu de Chanel OR just an amber essential oil. Smells like fresh, warm laundry.

Interesting because I bought D&G for men in a whim at an airport (because it was next to the women version that every girl in my family adooooores, from little ones to grannies) but the male version was a bit of .. MEH? No one thought much of it I am afraid. It wasn’t thrown away as I suggested ( as I got quite annoyed I must confessm, after all it is not cheap even with airport discount) as my mother hates that kind of vastage.. so maybe we will have to give it another go as soo many people seem to like it. For Men I adore most notes with Vetiver and Fig for summer and Oud for winter. Recently I sniffed the Byredo collection for Men and love them all. Did’t make a note of the names and another visit is due, this time with pen and paper.
Kat says
Ahh there are just so many good ones out there! I absolutely love Prada Luna Rossa though – it’s such a sexy scent without being overpowering!
(Confession: I sometimes spritz a little bit of cologne on myself after my evening shower before I head to bed, it’s just so comforting when it smells like a man, haha)
Maddie says
Ralph Lauren Polo Blue – love it so much! If someone passes me by wearing it, it always stops me dead.
Kim says
The Hubs is not a cologne guy but I’m partial to Spicebomb. An old bf used to wear Calvin Klein Escape and I have a fond memory of one of his buddies passing him on the stairs and saying “Dude, you smell like a little slice of heaven”. 🙂
Amoure says
Pink Sugar by Aquolina has been my favorite all time fragrance for about 3yrs now. The scent of: vanilla, cotton candy and sweetness makes me feel so young and vibrant. Plus I like girly and Pink Sugar is very girly.

I have a lesbian friend who is the male in her relationship and wears Prada Luna Rossa. She always smells AMAZING but my hub will not wear cologne
Jen says
It’s a toss up between “Fahrenheit By Christian Dior” and “Herrera By Carolina Herrera”. They both smell so masculine and delicious.
CB says
I met my boyfriend in his phase of Ralph Lauren Polo Blue, so that is on my list. I recently bought him Polo Black, which he liked from a sample I received from Sephora.
I almost bought him Chanel Bleu, probably in a few months he will get it!
Right now almost every time I make a Sephora order, I add a sample of a men’s cologne. This way the BF can sample….from my carefully chosen list of samples (lol).
Fancie says
Gucci Guilty and Chanel Bleu make me swoon lol. I love them!

John Varvatos – the original – it always puts a smile on my face when he wears that.
