15 Minute Beauty Fanatic
My friend Christine knows what it means to be busy. As a full-time doctor and beauty blogger, she’s always looking for ways to streamline her beauty routine. On more than one occasion, her beauty tips and shortcuts have helped me get to work on time. If time is a luxury in your life, you owe it to yourself to visit her blog.

The Knot
Wedding Mecca. The Knot delivers much more than simply advice on how to plan your wedding. It’s also a social networking site, a support system and a reality check for the newly betrothed.

Lifehacker
Do you ever feel so busy and overwhelmed that you’d trade in your best pair of shoes for a way to shave 10 minutes off your day? No? Me neither, LOL! But seriously, each day Lifehacker posts new time saving tips galore (aka life hacks) and doesn’t charge a thing.

Animoto
Music video directors everywhere must have freaked when they heard about Animoto. The free service lets you create totally kick-ass 30-second music video slideshows from photographs that you upload yourself. The shows are perfectly timed to music. It’s easy, awesome and totally free. And bloggers can embed their creations into their own websites.

Here’s an Animoto video I made for last year’s San Francisco Fashion Week.

Mobissimo
It seems like there’s a new hotel and airfare booking site every single day — kayak.com, farecast.live.com, etc. — but Mobissimo’s ability to find the lowest available fares and room rates, as well as its ability to suggest better deals on alternate travel dates, makes it a must-have travel resource.

I’m back from my brother’s graduation! In true Karen fashion, I started tearing up five minutes into the thing, halfway through the Star Spangled Banner, but I managed to pull it together in time to scream like a banshee as he walked across the stage to accept his diploma.

What you can’t see in the picture above is my brother’s long black hair, which is longer than mine. I constantly give the boy huge bottles of conditioner, and I swear he doesn’t use a drop of it. Among his graduation presents were a ceramic flat iron and a bottle of Bumble & Bumble Super Rich Conditioner, LOL.

I hope you’ve had a wonderful Saturday so far! What’s the plan for tonight? I think I’m just chillin’ at home.

Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

Karen

What a good looking family you have!

So your video rocks and so does the song. Totally SATC memory of the last episode. Sigh… I think I need to go watch my DVDs. I am so obsessed with this show.

LOL, thanks Marisol. That’s kind of a goofy pic of the two of us, but I swear when we are together we are incapable of taking normal photos. :)

I am thinking of watching my DVD’s tonight, too. I need to chill and eat leftover graduation food. :)

    What are you up to?

  3. Thanks for the shout-out Karen! I have to say that I think I have picked up WAY more tips from you with your amazing eye shadow tutorials!

Your brother looks quite a bit like you, and I think it’s hilarious that you gave him hair items for his graduation! I hope he takes the hint, boys!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend, I’ll be at work!

LOL, my brother and I both have the tendency to make the same goofy faces. :)

Have fun at work this weekend. I’m working at home, so I’ll be with you in weekend working spirit.

Right? I wish someone gave me hair products for my graduation, too. ;)

Have a great weekend and let’s chat again soon!

BTW, your makeup looks great in the pic…

  10. Karen says:

    Hi Nosh,

Awww! Bring tissue and wear plenty o’ waterproof mascara, girl. :) Is your sis graduating from college or high school?

That bag is from Lauren Merkin’s winter 2007 collection. You can check out a better picture of it here. I love it because it fits everything! Are you an accessories person, too?

  11. Karen says:

    Hi Iheartmakeup,

LOL, thanks hon! I swear, we can’t take any serious pictures, ever!

  12. Karen says:

    Hi PeeChee,

Thanks girl! I will pass on your well wishes to him. :) Congrats to your brother, too! I remember when he was just a wee baby.

Oh, and thanks regarding the makeup! I was totally in a hurry this morning (running late, as usual), and I slapped on the Chanel Winter Nights quad along with the waterproof Lancome Liner. :)

    How’s your weekend been?

  13. Dao says:

wow, you guys looked fierce! That’s the spirit of graduation. What is he going to do with the flat iron? Are you planning to turn him into Ryan Seacrest? (when people talking about men and flat iron, that’s the first image on my mind :))

  14. Karen B says:

That picture is awesome. Very (I’m looking for the right word but it’s like a cross between fierce, street-cred and cool…. lol)

  15. Laura says:

    hi karen,
what makeup were you wearing that day?

  16. Glosslizard says:

Aawww, that picture makes me all teary-eyed! You guys are so cute together! :)

  17. Karen says:

    Hi Dao,

LOL, his hair is semi-wavy and tends to frizz. He doesn’t use gel or anything, either, so it’s always a bit bird nesty. I’m really hoping he’ll utilize that flat iron so that his hair can be the silkiest it can be. :)

  18. Karen says:

    Hi Karen B.,

Thanks! My brother and I can’t take regular pictures. Every single one we have together looks equally as messed up, LOL!

  19. Karen says:

    Hi Laura,

In addition to the Lancome Le Stylo liner, I wore the Chanel Winter Nights Quad, Chanel Zanzibar lipstick with Gazelle Glossimer on the lips, and MAC Shy Beauty blush on the cheeks. I’ll do an FOTD of the look later this week (complete with eye chart). :)

  20. Karen says:

    Hi Glosslizard,

Awww, thanks, friend. *passes Kleenex* I hope you’re wearing waterproof eyeliner. ;)

  21. your brother says:

hey its your brother, please tell everyone thank you for the congrats. i must say we look like the filipino beavis and butthead
