Hi Karen,
I love your posts. Keep the greatness coming! I’m on the fence about picking up the Bobbi Brown Brights eye palette and I wanted your expert opinion on it.
Karen says
Hi Tanya,
It’s a very pretty palette with lots of neat shades. I kinda wish Bobbi added some shimmer up in the mix. In general I don’t use a lot of matte brights (I find them hard to blend). But if you like to wear color it might be a fun way to experiment with matte textures. 🙂

Hi BJ,
I know, me too! I wish I could play with it in person. I just checked their website and they ship to the US (for a fee). YAY!

Hi Karen! Ok I too just discovered Illamasqua stuff! They are sending me some samples of their nail polish colors so I am really excited. If I like them, I’ll buy some in London because I just booked my trip for May/June!! SO excited, I’ve never been to Europe! 🙂
Have a great night!

We are going for 9 days/8 nights. We may do a day trip to Paris because it’s only 2 hours on the high speed train, so I am super psyched about that!

Hope your Monday is off to a good start!

Hi H.,
Gah! I must find a way to try some. Isn’t the site amazing? I love the makeup looks so amped up and theatrical.
Karen says
Hi Vampy Varnish,
That’s so cool! I hope you guys make it to Paris (one of my favorite cities). El Hub and I spent a few days there and I really loved it. I remember getting really stressed out about ordering food, LOL! I took a few years of high school French about a billion years ago. The only thing I could remember was how to order and ham sandwich, ha ha!
Anyhoo, I’m so excited for you. Have you started planning the sights you want to see yet?

Hi Karen,
Thanks for your opinion on the BB brights palette. I don’t have a BB counter near me so I can’t check it out for myself. My palette should be arriving soon though 🙂 I have never worn bright colors before. Any suggestions on how to use this palette?
Karen says
Hi Tanya,
You’re welcome! 🙂
When I use bright mattes I’ll combine them with something shimmery to make the blending easier. With this palette one thing you could do is lay down a neutral shimmer on the entire eyelid like Benefit Creaseless Cream Shadow in Birthday Suit or MAC Paint Pot in Rubenesque, then apply the bright shade directly on the lid and just barely into the crease. Finish by blending in a neutral like MAC Shroom or Ricepaper from the crease up into the brow bone. You’ll get a pop of color but it won’t be too overwhelming. Another fun thing you could do is use the brights as a liner!
Tanya says
Thanks for the tips Karen. Much appreciated! I can’t wait to try them out 🙂

Hi Tanya,
You’re very welcome! Let me know what you think of your palette when it comes in. I’m sure you’ll have lots of fun playing. 🙂
