Temptalia
Christine’s a fellow Bay Area girl and one of the most talented beauty bloggers around. I love the looks she does with bright makeup colors. Her site has a busy makeup forum and a massive archive of reference pictures and tutorials covering a variety of dramatic makeup looks. We’ve hung out a few times, and she’s as beautiful and sweet in person as she is online.
Amy Kuschel Bride
Amy Kuschel creates custom couture wedding gowns, each hand crafted in her San Francisco bridal salon and design studio. I love all of Amy’s elegant and sophisticated dresses, but her Tandie gown is the one I wore on my wedding day.
Hovey Lee
Also representing the San Francisco Bay Area in style, Hovey Lee has a huge selection of clean and sophisticated fine jewelry. The company really gets the whole online shopping thing, too. Their site is well organized and makes it easy to find the perfect piece. I subscribe to their email newsletter, which goes out about once a month and contains sale information and new item announcements. Hovey’s Linney necklace is one of my favorite pieces, and I wear it almost every day.
Jeanine Payer
Hand engraved quotes adorn all of Jeanine Payer’s elegant jewelry pieces. I’m saving up for the Alden ring. It bears the following quote by Walt Whitman: “The strongest and sweetest songs yet remain to be sung.”
Paper Source
I love steno, and the Paper Source’s colorful paper, stamp and scrap booking products feed my inner artist. They have a huge inventory. For my wedding a couple years ago, I made all of my wedding invitations from scratch with supplies from Paper Source.
Hooray for the weekend! All hail Saturday! Because I got tired of icing my knee on the couch last night, I hobbled out to the movies to see Wall-E, the new animated film by Pixar-Disney.
I can’t even describe how much I loved it. I’m at a loss for words. My only complaint is that I didn’t bring enough tissue, but I didn’t expect to cry as much as I did in a movie about robots. Pixar is so far out in front of everyone else when it comes to storytelling in digital animation. The characters, story line, the innocent sense of whimsy, the way it used music and sound effects, the animation, the social commentary and pacing — I loved it all. 🙂
Right now I’m finishing my second cup of coffee and reading the news online. What are your plans for today?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

omg! Karen, would you be able to post one of the invitations you made (blocking out personal info., of course!) I will be making my own wedding invites and would love to see your spin on it!
I think it’d also be fun to see you in your dress and your wedding fotd!

Hey Karen
I so wish you hadn’t pointed out the Jeanine Payer site. I’ve fallen in love with the Antonia ring and I’m supposed to be saving my pennies at the moment. All the jewellery on that site is so beautful though..and having such wonderful quotes on each piece makes it even better.
I hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!

Wall-e! I’m going to take my nieces and nephews to see it I think. Looks so great – I love Pixar flicks.
Thanks for the heads up about the tissues. I’ll make sure to stuff my bag.

Oh yay! Hubby and I are taking the wee beasties to see Wall-E today! I’ll be sure to pack some tissue! We LOOOVE Pixar!

Hi Pquanda,
Oh! Girl, when is your big day? I gotta say if your wedding is big then the whole DYI invite gets old after the 15th one; ours was pretty small, and after that 15th invite I was ready to almost throw in the towel and buy some stationary, LOL. I’ll fish out the invite (it’s in here somewhere) and take pics of it for you. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Beth,
I know! Ever since I’ve discovered it I’ve been crushing hard on practically the entire line. The Antonia ring is really beautiful!
Hope you had a wonderful and relaxing weekend. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Jousy,
Yup, we’re all here in the SF Bay Area so we run into each other on occasion.
How are things with you? Did you have a good weekend?
Karen says
Hi Christine,
You’re welcome. 🙂 Hope you’re havin’ a good one!
Karen says
Hi Karen B.,
Oh, I like that one too. There’s allegedly a show room here somewhere in SF, but I still haven’t been. I want all of her rings!
Karen says
Hi Laurie,
Yup, bring your kleenex. Oh, and stay for the end credits because they do some really cool art!
Have fun when you watch it with your nieces and nephews. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
