Reiss Online
I wish I could get my entire wardrobe at Reiss. A British chain store with nine stores in the United States, Reiss’ clothing evokes Jackie-O elegance — simple, modern, yet classic pieces with personality. Shopping there will put a serious dent in your wallet (many of their skirts, coats and dresses cost upwards of $200), but damn, baby, you’ll sure look good!
Spectra Visual Newsreader | msnbc.com
For all you visual learners out there (like moi), the Spectra Visual Newsreader might tickle your fancy. It’s a colorful, new way to read the news. News topics and headlines are represented by a range of rotating blocks of color. How cool is that?
COLOURlovers
If you need quick inspiration for a makeup look or design project (or even painting the walls at home), just head over to COLOURlovers. I could spend hours surfing the bajillion color patterns and palettes on the site and thinking of all the lid, crease and brow bone possibilities.
Now Smell This
I’ve learned a lot about perfume and fragrances reading the Now Smell This blog. With posts written by several contributors, the site covers breaking perfume news along with in-depth scent reviews.

Ugh… Last night, in the middle of watching Monster in Law on the toob and hanging out with the neighbor’s tabby (who may not actually belong to anyone, it turns out), El Hub made the most disgusting of discoveries: a small, flat white worm was stuck on the poor cat’s coat.
El Hub said he thought it looked like some kind of parasite. I had planned to take the cat to a vet one of these days to find out if he’s been microchipped. Because he’s always been so friendly and has a nice coat, I assumed he had a real home and people to look after him.
But maybe not.
He doesn’t wear a collar, and he’s over at our house morning, noon and night. I’m worried that he’s not getting the proper veterinary care that a growing cat needs. Plus, I can’t lie, I’ve been kinda wanting to officially adopt him.
So, this week we’re taking his striped ass to the vet to find out what the heck is going on with the worm sitch. Did I mention that I HATE WORMS and that I’m totally grossed out? I really hope it’s treatable. Poor little guy.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Those sites look tres interesting Karen, I’ll be having a good old look later.
Oh I just came back from watching The Dark Knight and thought of you. I never got the obssession with Christian Bale, after today……I do…..he was amazing and very sexy as Batman…..;)
Brittany says
Aw, I’m feeling bad for the cat. That’s such a bummer. I hope that the vet can fix him up. I’m thinking he probably doesn’t have an owner if he’s at your house all the time. Or he maybe did at one point and ran away.

i love now smell this, it’s the first beauty/fragrance blog i ever read!
if you have a fragrance question or need recommendations, robin, the creator, is the most knowledgeable and sweet person. if you ask her nicely enough by email, she may even do a “monday mail” feature on you and ask the readers to find scent recommentdations for you!
and poor kitty, you should just adopt him if el hub agrees to it. he looks like a sweet kitty anyway. i love cats, it’s unfortunate my pug hates all other animals (except fish, which he can sit in front of tanks and watch all day), or i would have adopted one already. it’s weird – he even prefers babies to other dogs and animals, although he’s not fixed and has an affinity for small, fluffy girl-dogs who snarl and snap at him to get the hell away because he’s ugly… so alas, romance is not to be for mr. wrinkles, aka superpug.
next time he’s there, check him for any bald or matted sections of hair (he may have ringworm, among many other things), whether he has eye discharge/goobers (this is a clear indication of how healthy he is) and be sure to grab him and take him to the vet. it’s best to do this in a cardboard box with holes in it, as the cat may get very agitated and try and attack you if you decide to capture it once and for all.
if you do decide to adopt him for good, make sure he becomes an indoor cat, because going outside can for sure get him run over or infected with feline immunodeficiency or feline lepto viruses (kind of like AIDS for cats). if you feel bad, cats can also be trained to walk on leashes like dogs, and you can walk him that way (but use the chest harness kind).

Definitely checking out the perfume site and the newsreader.
Hope you are having a fabulous Sunday!

That cat is so beautiful karen how could anyone not want him? I’ve been getting doggy love cuz our fam friend has a dog named Toshiba while my bio mom has her sister Tippy. They are so cute but I love kitty love!! Esp when the purr and roll on their backs!!!
Music_Is_Freedom says
Aww…the poor kitty! I’m not so much a cat person, but a sweet cat like that deserves a good home to be adopted into, and yours sounds as good as any. (I recently adopted a cockatiel from my cousins, and am trying to train/tame him…now he whistles part of the “I Dream of Jeannie” theme!)

Hi NurseExec,
🙂 Great! These are some really interesting sites so I hope you like them. Have a good rest of your weekend.

Hi Anna,
Viva la team C. Bale! We have a few more movies to look forward to with him in it. He’s starring in the three upcoming Terminator flicks. Woot!
What did you think of The Dark Knight?
Karen says
Hi Brittany,
I went to the pet store today and I found out a low-cost vet clinic to take him to. He’s going next week; I just hope everything will be okay.
When I explained the situation to the guy at the pet store he mentioned that the cat might’ve “adopted” us to. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Ines,
Thank you so much for all of this helpful information. I am going to take him to the vet next weekend so I’ll be sure to get a box with holes so that he won’t be traumatized. When he comes by tonight I’ll check his fur and his eyes, too.
BTW, your pug has a cute name!

Hi Marisol,
Hey girly! It’s been a mellow Sunday so far. I just came back from watching Wanted at the theater and now I’m just gonna chillat home. How was your day?
Karen says
Hi Tania,
Aww, I love dogs, too. They are so loving and loyal! Kitty love is fun when you have a very sweet and interactive cat… like the neighbor’s (?) tabby. I just discovered the other day that he loves being carried around like a baby. He drapes his paws over my shoulders and purrs like crazy when I do that!
Anyway, hope you’ve been having a good day. 🙂

Hi Music_Is_Freedom,
That’s really cute that your bird sings that! Did it take a lot of training? I really think birds are great pets. I’d like to have one eventually.

Was Miss Angelina as awesome as always? I am fan of hers and that is one movie that I want to see.
My Sunday was more productive than yesterday. And by productive, I mean that I shopped! I got up early and drove to Sacramento to check out the lines at the Apple store. Fortunately, there were only like 20 peeps in line so after a 35 minute wait, I left the store with a shiny white iPhone. I also headed to Sephora and did some damage on MUFE products. I really like their liners.

Hi Marisol,
I am a big Angelina fan, too. She seems really interesting and I’d love to pick her brain some day. She looked great, as always, in the movie. I am going to attempt her hairstyle some time this week!
Ahhh, Sacramento in July. Was it a billion degrees up there first thing in the morning? I don’t miss that. I ended up going by the Apple store, too. I picked up a screen protector and a silicon case. It’s chocolate brown with blue flowers on the back. I couldn’t resist because those were my wedding colors.
I have one MUFE waterproof liner and I like it! What colors did you get?
Music_Is_Freedom says
I’m not sure how I trained him at it…cockatiels usually imitate sounds they like, so I guess he likes the tune!
I just started whistling it once to get him to stop screaming when I left the room (his previous owners left him alone a lot, so he has a major case of separation anxiety). He stopped screaming, and was tilting his head to the side like he was listening. So I’ve been whistling it at random whenever I’m by his cage.
And birds (moreso parrots/parakeets/cockatoos/cockatiels) are great pets, but they’re also very emotionally demanding. When well cared for, though, they are very sweet and endearingly funny.

It was in the high 90s but since I have been living in the Valley for the past 18 months, I kind of have gotten used to it. When I came back from Sac, it was 98 in my town and to be honest, it didn’t feel that bad.
Pretty colors you had! Funny thing is that my couch is a chocolate brown microfiber and I just ordered the following pillow covers for it from Etsy. http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=5913996§ion_id=5497813
I got the following MUFE liners:
MUFE Aqua Creme Liner in Black (1)
MUFE Aqua Eyes Liner in Fuschia Pink (13L)
MUFE Aqua Eyes Liner in Majorelle Blue (15L)
MUFE Aqua Eyes Liner in Black Purple (6L)
MUFE Aqua Eyes Liner in Blue with Green Highlights (12L)

Hi Music_Is_Freedom,
That’s so cool. He sounds very smart… maybe one day when the show’s on TV he’s start singing along to the theme song. 🙂
I had a friend who had birds for pets and she said the same thing. I would really like a pair of love birds some day; if I ever have the opportunity I will for sure do my homework beforehand. I guess at this point, though, it depends on if the tabby decides to come and live with us (sigh).

I worked for a few days at the Reiss store before SF Center was open to the public. My former manager from VS became one of the managers there, so she asked me if I wanted to help out. The clothes are so nice, and if you work there you have to wear their merchandise. The sweet part about it was that you had an “allowance” from the company so you could get your work clothes. Unfortunately, I didn’t stay around long enough for the opening. But it was fun being in the stock room with all the stuff. Haha! How nice of you to take Tabs to the vet! Hope he’s healthy. 🙂

Hi Marisol,
OHHHHH those pillows are SO PRETTY! I just added her store to my etsy favorites. I’ve been wanting to get some accent pillows so now it’s time to do some shopping. Since you shared one of your finds here’s a favorite of mine:

I remember when high 90s felt balmy, LOL. I used to live up there (Davis) and used to actually run in the 90-100 degree heat in the summer. Since moving back to the Bay I’ve reverted to my weather wimpy ways.

Thanks for sharing your Etsy find. I can spend hours looking through that site.

hey karen,
it’s no problem about the pet advice. i just love all the furry/feathered creatures in the world (and fish and such, just no insects). i hope tabs is okay, and that he doesn’t have FIV/FLV. although, even if he does, it’s really okay if you keep him indoors and he doesn’t infect any other kitties. i’m sure you can give him a loving home!
