Hi, ladies. How’s Monday coming along? I’m just trying on the new Benefit Velvet Eyeshadows (post coming this afternoon!) and surfing the web. Care to join me? Here are some potentially interesting places to start.
TREND LAND
I just love the way Trend Land showcases gigantic thumbnail images instead of long blocks of boring text. The resulting collage of fashionably stylish stuff gets my visual cortex every time. For a visual learner like me, it’s a hella reliable source of design inspiration. Sometimes I’ll even load it up when I’m stressing out and take a few deep breaths to unwind.
Scarygirl
One of the coolest Flash games ever! I can’t believe it’s free. Guide Scarygirl through a Tim Burton-esque world to find the man behind her haunting dreams.
LAUDI VIDNI
I keep playing with Laudi Vidni’s custom handbag designer tool, hoping to create a bag I just can’t live without (prices start at $85). Like Louis Vuitton meets Frankenstein, combine different bag styles, trim, exterior patterns and hardware, and watch your creation COME TO LIFE!
Lasse Pedersen
This amazing portfolio site for a Danish hair and makeup artist has some fantastic photographs and a neat way of letting you interact with the site (you can zoom in with your mouse).
Track My T
Have you ever wondered, “Where does my T-shirt come from?” Track My T may have the answer. If the label on your shirt has a Track My T number, submit the code on the site for a storybook journey through the life of your shirt. Neat idea that’s actually the way some companies meet a US law requiring manufacturers of children’s clothing to enable consumers to trace production details.
Adidas Outdoor
If product sites are supposed to help us get as close to an object as possible without holding it, Adidas Outdoor takes that concept to a new level. It uses Adidas active wear to create a landscape of mountains and valleys made from undulating fabric. Kinda trippy and cool…
Lands’ End Canvas 1963
Lands’ End wants visitors to feel at home when they shop. Their new video-driven site/tool lets you fill a canvas with your choice of shapes, colors and phrases which are then combined with images of their products. It’s like a “shop on your own terms” thing. I found myself thinking of products I normally wouldn’t have but did because they were surrounded by pink, LOL!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Wow, thanks Karen! I loved the links so much. By the way, what is a ‘track my tee’ number? Do only newer shirts have it?
