Here’s a super simple, quick last-minute Halloween costume shout-out to Carol! — one of my favorite characters on The Walking Dead. The new season started a few weeks ago, and in my favorite season six episode so far, Carol shimmies like a bad-@ss out of her “after school special” button-down cardigan, dons a dirty bandana and hoodie, covers herself in dirt and blood and basically saves a whole bunch of people from a pack of psycho killers called the Wolves by impersonating one of ’em.
Of course, a Carol Wolf costume wouldn’t be complete without a prop, like a casserole, or this here pan of brownies, because Carol doesn’t just kick @ss. She’s also a great cook! LOL…
Or, if your husband happens to keep swords under the bed, you could also wield a machete.
Just please be careful not to accidentally slice anyone to bits. 🙂
The makeup was actually really easy and took less than five minutes.
I just ran my fingers across a couple of pans of matte taupe and matte dark gray eyeshadows (I used Primal and Undone from the Urban Decay Naked2 Basics Palette), then sprayed them with Avene Thermal Spring Water and ran them across my face.
I did this several times to create the dirty effect…
For the “W” forehead symbol worn by the Wolves, I mixed MAC Russian Red Lipstick with MAC Lady Danger Lipstick on the back of my hand to create a deep red, then applied that to my forehead with a lip brush.
Oh, and that bandana? It started out pristine and white when I got it from Target last night for about $4. I let it soak overnight in a bowl of tea, then threw it in the dryer this morning to make it look a little more apocalyptic and dirty. Et voila! Dirrrrty bandana.
The hoodie and shirt were courtesy El Hub. Thanks, babe!
On that note, Happy Halloween! #teamcarol

LOVE this. Carol is such a badass, I love her character arc. Have we talked about last weeks episode yet?! :/ I am in full denial.
Karen says
I don’t think we have. Do you think he’s dead?! I think that there’s no way he could’ve gotten out of that situation. I can’t wait for Sunday! It’s supposed to be a 90 minute episode.
Kellie says
He is so not dead. I have one of two theories- he gets out (but gets bit) but has enough time to go say goodbye to Maggie (seriously I can’t….so sad…) OR he gets out unscathed, someone rescues him etc. I think Nicholas was getting eaten on top of him!

I definitely think that Carol is the best character! Love the simple costume idea. The pan of brownies will probably go over pretty well at a party, too.
Karen says
Hi Erin! Yes, I figured brownies would be a good way to meet people. Lol! Are you dressing up?
Erin says
Not this year, but getting to see all of the ideas and tutorials that pop up in October is one of my favorite parts of following beauty and body painting blogs and channels!
Erin says
Love it! Carol is the most interesting female character on TV right now, IMO. Very complex and I love episodes like that when she really takes charge!
The brownies look delicious btw!

I did not see this before halloween but what a simple and badass costume! I love Carol lol I would carry around flowers and tell everyone to look at them.

This is brilliant. A friend’s favourite character is Carol; I’ll be sharing this with him. Cheers!
Kim says
That’s awesome! I liked last night’s ep and like Morgan but was disappointed that there was 90 minutes spent on that while… meanwhile… Rick is being swarmed in his broken down camper! 🙁

I could not love you more for this, Karen!!! I actually thought of this a day after Halloween, LOL! DUH. Your execution is perfect, especially with that pan of brownies! You rule! Carol is a master chameleon and quick-witted. She has been my hero for a few seasons now. Blowing up Terminus? YAS!
