You’ve officially leveled up from “crazy cat lady” to “craziest cat lady” when your souvenirs from New Orleans all involve cats. 🙂
Grabbed these goodies yesterday from the cutest store in the French Quarter called Gem de France.
Half of the store was dedicated to teh kittehs! (El Hub practically had to drag me out.)
I plan to affix this small metal sign next to my front door when I get home because 1) Tabs is always on guard, 24/7, and 2) the world (and my neighbors) need to know!
And these stylish notebooks (above) will be used to document my long days spent working for a demanding feline employer and the many tasks that are asked of me.
And the above vintage tin will be used to store catnip…or makeup.
I haven’t decided yet!
Also, shh… Don’t tell Tabs, but I met a gorgeous orange tabby boy who was hanging out in front of an antique shop.
He said that he may be looking to hire a second assistant, so we exchanged info.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love this! I am definitely visiting this store next time I am NOLA. What a handsome kitty! I would have been tempted to sneak him into my luggage to take back home. 🙂

You found the cutest stuff! My finds never seem to be that good when I go shopping on vacation. Then again, I’ve never been to NOLA. That could be my problem…

Make sure you check out the bookstores in the French Quarter! A lot of them have shop cats that just laze around, looking for pets.

You really are a cat whisperer, all these cats seem to love you.

Hi, Karen! I love that tin! Does this store have a website?
Karen says
Hi Stacy,
They do. It’s http://www.gemdefrance.com/index.html/
But it looks like a small local website. I did overhear one of the very nice ladies who runs the store say something about shipping things for people, so you might want to give them a phone call if you gotta get your hands on something.

My hubby and I always seem to run into cats when we go on vacation. A few years ago we were on the beach in Cozumel and a cat found us and mooched food off us. He appeared to be very well fed! Last year in San Juan we met two kittens in a cat stroller, their pet assistant was taking them to the local pet shop for some snacks.
Orange boys are always so sweet.

This reminds me of when I went to Florence there were some cat colonies on this hillside walk up to a viewpoint that overlooks the city…when I was traveling around I always took pictures of all the cats and dogs I saw running around. It was fun!

Cute entry and photos! I always find cats or rather they locate me while on vacay. But it was sad. I just returned from Lebanon. There were SO many homeless cats, dumpster diving with their kittens. It broke my heart. And people don’t like them. Poor babies. I would have rescued all of them if I could have. But my home, alas, is full (5 and counting), but not my heart!
