Hi, cutie. Hope you’re having a great night. Just a few holiday pictures from my parents’ house.
You know me… Couldn’t keep my hands off the camera for long.
Posing with a mango and the Christmas grub
My brother brought these egg tarts
Ham for the fam
My mom made enough mac salad for a small army

A few neighborhood yards really get into the spirit
Too. Much. Good. Food.
I shouldn’t still be hungry but I am. Oh, well. Only one thing to do about that (eat!). 🙂

Hi Samantha,
I’ll have to ask my mom. She’s the pancit expert. You have a good day, okay?

Great, I’m stuffed but now I’m craving mac-n-cheese. Thanks a lot! (Merry Chrismas!)

You can never have enough mac and cheese! I think it deserves its own food group. 😉
Merry Christmas to you too!
Ruby17 says

Karen says
Hi Hazel,
Oh how funny! I grew up in UC. It’s changed a lot since I lived there. Did you go to Logan?
Hazel says

Vonvon says
So yummy food! I want the prawns next to the Mac salad!
And I know my daughter will love the Disney-themed decor with Tigger and Mickey Mouse in Santa costume!
I cooked and hosted some friends. We had turkey with stuffings and cranberry sauce again. On my daughter’s request. And chocolate cake for dessert! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Vonvon,
Your feast sonds delicious, especially the chocolate cake. Glad you enjoyed the day with your family!
Dao says
Merry Christmas, Karen! Your mom is adorable and look at the food! I want it to be Christmas all over again!
Karen says
Merry Christmas to you, Dao! How was your holiday?
DalaLuz says
It’s like a reverse Christmas miracle, how every year I can eat all that food and somehow still find myself a bit peckish… :p
Thanks for the picture peek into your life again, it all looks so colorful and your mom looks sweet 🙂
Karen says
Hi DalaLuz,
What did you guys eat this Christmas?
DalaLuz says
My brother had a new girlfriend who is vegan, so they ended up making the Christmas dinners for us and our parents, quite delish. Vegetarian sushi, gingersalad, soup, green thai curry, thai salad wraps and cinnemon icecream with warm apples and pear. And loads of munchies!
Karen says
That sounds really, REALLY good. One of my New Year’s resolutions is to learn how to cook a few vegan food dishes, and I’ve spent the last few days drooling over vegan food blogs.
How many siblings do you have? Is it just you and your bro?
DalaLuz says
I have 5 brothers, and I am the only girl 🙂 I guess that’s why I started so late on the whole beauty and make-up thing, my mom was way too busy to make time for such frivolities to begin with and on top of that I would have much rather been a boy myself :p I refused to were dresses, girly colors and demanded my hair to be cut short, but I gave up my dream on being just like a boy when I found out that I was unable to climb in lamp posts or kick a ball (in Europe soccer is not a girl’s thing like in the US).
And the vegan thing was really good 🙂 we are vegetarians ourselves, but unfortunately I just can’t imagine life without cheese, milk, butter and eggs but no harm in trying out some nice recipes every now and than!
Chris25 says
Wow, your neighbors went all out! The only thing I did was stick a stocking to my front door. 😛
Did you get the photo I emailed you?
Karen says
Hi Chris,
I did. 🙂 Just sent you an email back. I have a crush on Rocky and Jazz … shh, don’t tell Tabs.
Alix says
What awesome pix! Thanks, Karen!
Karen says
Glad you enjoyed this post, Alix. Did you and your family go to your favorite Chinese restaurant for Christmas eve dinner?
Phoebe says
It’s almost 2am here in Manila and your post made me crave for pancit! LOL Happy holidays Karen! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Phoebe,
Happy holidays to you too. We also had sinigang… I just ended up eating mine before I could take pics, LOL!
How was your Christmas?
steph b says
Whoa! The neighbors are hardcore! And please pass the pancit.
Karen says
The neighbors are no joke when it comes to lights. Usually my dad does an elaborate set up on the roof, but he didn’t get around to doing it this year.
Here’s a scoop of the pancit along with a lemon wedge and green onion!
What are you up to today? We’re in Redding visiting with El Hub’s parents.
steph b says
Chilling out today. Went for a walk along the river, bought a pair of shoes, braised a brisket. All low key, but thoroughly enjoyable.
Puffnstuff says
Oh YUM!! Especially the pancit!!
Karen says
It was so good! I love it with lots of lemon. 🙂
CC says
Merry Christmas, Karen!
Karen says
Happy holidays, CC! I hope you had a good one.
Liz says
Pancit bihon! That brings back really happy memories for me. I was stationed in Cubi Point in the late 80’s and loved the beautiful countryside, the genuinely nice people I met, and the FOOD! OMG the food.
Karen says
Hi Liz,
I take it you like Filipino food. 😀 What are your favorite dishes?
Liz says
I think it’s equal part loving the food and loving the good memories it brings. I enjoyed all the usual stuff – pancit, lumpia, adobo – but also the setting. Everything tastes better at the beach with friends, doesn’t it?
Barbara says
Egg tarts!!
Karen says
YES! So best. 🙂
peach_ says
I love all the neighborhood decorations and oh goodness, the FOOD! Looks like you had a wonderful Christmas! 😀
Chelsea says
Looks like you had a good holiday! Your mama is so cute! I love her smile!
marisol says
Your mom is adorable. You’ll have to recommend a few spots for filipino food in our ‘hood. I haven’t had it in ages. I hope you had a great Christmas!
Katz says
Pancit Bihon will never be absent during the holidays. We had lechon paksiw, pork humba and beef caldereta for Christmas. too much meat and not enough veggies…sigh. But they were oh so good. I hope you still get to taste those Filipino dishes.
Nina says
You and your Mom are adorable together!
Mariana says
Cute pics (food looks so yummy!) and Merry late Xmas 🙂
