Win a $50 Sephora eCard from Makeup and Beauty Blog

Rise and shine, morning glory!

I love that phrase… :) I’ll tell you the story behind why I use it one of these days.

How did you sleep? Did you have any dreams? I don’t remember if I did last night. Sometimes I do, but last night is just a sleepy blur.

The sun is out this morning, but I don’t know how long it’ll last, so after I finish my French toast, I’m going for a long walk outside (yes, I’m brining cat treats).

Not much new to report. Last night I did see the new Captain America movie with El Hub and thought it wasn’t bad. Honestly, though, sometimes the superhero movies sort of merge together for me. I love sci-fi — you know that — but the Marvel comic themes generally stick to a handful of story lines. Vengeance, misunderstood hero, quest for power, greed, bizarre need to destroy the world in order to rebuild it anew.

Anywho, I hope you have a nice weekend lined up. I have some blog work to do (some BIG stuff happening next week), but I’ll try to spend some time outside. I do have to repair the damage the storm did to the garden on my deck.

Oh! And guess what? Some neighborhood birds totally destroyed the planter filled with cat grass seedlings for Tabs. I guess they found the seeds yummy.

Yeah, Tabs was none too pleased about that.

Good luck in the giveaway. Talk to you soon. :)

more of a corrector than a concealor but the best one that i’ve tried is the giorgio armani master corrector. Doesn’t crease on me like the bobbi brown corrector and somehow corrects the darkness while still looking like natural skin

My new favorite concealer is the pixi correction concentrate. It’s only 12 bucks (and I have seen Target occasionally run coupons for pixi). It works great for brightening the eye area and on some of the acne scars that are still lingering on my face! Budget friendly too!

cosplay – not so into it personally, but if that’s your thing i have no problem with it. i guess the closest thing i’ve ever done was when my daughter & i wore our pirate costumes from halloween to a special disney screening of pirates of the caribbean. most of the other attendees were in some sort of pirate-y dress, and there were fully costumed “performers” as well (those are the ones i would consider to have been “cosplayers” much more so). it can be fun :)

Mac Select Cover put in a small container and dried out until thick and creamy – makes the best concealer I’ve ever used.

  158. Charlotte says:

The last time I went into a library was recently to pick up something for work; i found out that I couldn’t take anything out cause I owed $100 dollars in late fees from a couple books I took out when I was 18!!! I’m 24 now….moral of the story, don’t forget to return your library books!! Ha.

  159. michaela says:

i still haven’t found the best concealer!

  160. Kayvid says:

There is no best concealer on the market. I have tried every single one and they all crease. And I probably went to library last when I was in school, so maybe 8 years ago…

  161. Claire says:

Claudio Riaz has a pretty rad concealer.

  162. Chloe Purnama says:

I absolutely LOVEEE the Nars Creamy Concealer & the Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer to go! Those 2 are my Holy Grail! And the last time I went to a library was about 2 years ago (LOL, seriously), because at my city, there are no public libraries (maybe)

  163. Tania G says:

I am at the library almost weekly, taking kids there to get books.
It’s finally warming up here and looking a bit like spring.

  164. Erika C. says:

One of all time favorite makeup highlighters is the Balm’s Mary-Lou Manizer. The color payoff is umm PRETTY AWESOME! Sorry for yelling, lol.

  180. Allison says:

Loving all the library love here– I’m a librarian! For those who haven’t been to a library in years, drop by and see what’s new… your library probably lends ebooks and might even offer digital magazine and music downloads, too. :)

  181. Kate G says:

I will leave a comment in the form of a haiku I wrote with my review of tres emmes dry shampoo recently on my tiny blog.

I recently purchased Mac Studio Finish concealer after finally running out of their Studio sculpt. I’m really liking it so far. Good coverage and it sticks around all day!

  186. I’m really hoping to purchase the MAC Prolongwear Concealer sometime soon because I’ve heard so many good things about it. I currently use the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and while it’s an okay concealer, it’s not the best.

  187. Corey says:

The best concealer I’ve ever used was YSL Touche Eclat. I was sent a sample of it with a Sephora order and when I first put it on I didn’t feel like it covered so well. But when I went out I kept getting these amazing comments from people saying my eyes look so bright and refreshed. My ma even said it made me glow!

  188. Dimana Dyakova says:

When was the last time you went to a library?
Last month. I’m studying Library Science and I need to be in the library often to do my researches etc :)

  189. My birthday is tomorrow so let’s see if i’m getting lucki on my day :)
I came across your blog ans really liked it, also linked one of your posts in my last post(http://loveslikearunway.com/e-l-f-studio-contouring-blush-bronzing-powder/), and I don’t use concealer :O.

  190. Tracy says:

What’s the best concealer and why. Definitely Nars Radiant creamy concealer. It’s the only one that doesn’t crease under my eyes or breakdown by the end of the day when used to spot conceal. I’ve also use darker colors to contour.

  191. Sarah says:

My favourite concealer for under my eyes is the ellis faas one and for covering up blemishes I really like the obsessive compulsive cosmetics one.

  192. Laurinha says:

I love TheBalm concealers, I set them w/ a little translucent powder and hv color enough to cover and iluminate my under eye area. And stays all day long.

  193. INCI says:

A library? Yesterday, mam. I went it yesterday. :)

  194. Meghan l says:

I do not use foundation at all. I feel like my skin can’t breathe. I just starting using makeup brushes about 6 months ago and I only use the too faced shadow brushes. Since I wash them with sephora purifying brush shampoo after every use I then put them in a toothbrush holder I got just for the brushes. It helps them air dry faster :)

  195. tiffany says:

I wish I had a go-to concealer bc I woke up two days ago with an unexplained black eye! I have absolutely no idea what happened to cause it so it is pretty funny…but looks awful. I take little comfort in being told I can make a shiner look pretty (haha). Unfortunately all of my basics are failing me…I don’t wear heavy makeup (ever) so it is really challenging to take the purple edge off. Ah well, at least I can pretend I have a really good story when people ask, right?!

  196. Liz says:

I go to the library ALL THE TIME. I love my library.

  197. Aimen says:

I’m still in search for the PERFECT concealer but for now my love is DEFINITELY the Garnier Skin Renew Anti – Dark Circle Roller! Use it just about everyday lol

  198. Amy says:

For concealer I like Boing by Benefit. It’s too yellowy for the eye area, but perfect for blemishes.

  202. Katrina says:

I think today might actually be a makeup free day – besides working on laundry and getting groceries I don’t have much reason to look that presentable.

  203. Cynthia F. says:

I’m such a bookworm. I have an eReader, so I usually get my books from the library’s website, but I end up in the physical library building anyway probably about 6 times a year when there’s a good book that’s just not available in electric format.

  204. Kylie says:

I’m not a cosplayer, but my boyfriend is big into that scene for the Cons!

  210. Daraya says:

I haven’t been to the library in forever, because I can just download books on my tablet. But I love hard-copy books better than e-books, so I should really stop by the library soon!

  211. Sylvia says:

I haven’t found a concealer I like, I think I expect to much. I went to a library yesterday as I’m somewhat of a library addict. Happy Sunday everyone!

  212. Marta says:

How do you feel about cosplay? Have you ever dressed up in costume for a convention or anything like that? I think cosplayers are awesome but I do not have the sewing skills or the creativity to pull it off (yet). I follow Enayla Cosplay on facebook and the costumes she makes are gorgeous. http://tinyurl.com/lzs8e4v <— example.

  223. Nadja says:

Hi Karen! Love your blog. I am totally not a cos-player, Halloween is as close as it gets for me. I am still in college and working at Urban Outfitter, so no work retreat (yet, I hope!). Right now, my favorite concealer is actually a mix of my Tarte Maracuja Creaseless concealer and Make Up Forever’s Full Cover concealer. I go to the library every week, but it’s mostly to do homework. What I love most about myself are my freckles in the summer.

  226. Jess says:

I recently purchased MUFE’s Full Cover Concealer along with the MUFE Face and Body foundation. I use a small amount of the concealer (it’s very pigmented) to cover up a few imperfections, the best part is that it’s waterproof and won’t budge all day! The two of these together allow for my face to look flawless with a natural finish. :)

  227. nat ogu says:

How do you feel about cosplay?Have you ever dressed up in costume for a convention or anything like that? – I have a friend that does it and it looks like a blast but I’ve never gone. I dressed up in costume for my curling match, though. Every team was assigned a team name and we had to dress the part…it was a lot if fun :)

Cosplay can be cool… But it has to be done right…

I have mad respect for cosplayers, but I’m a total party pooper and seldom dress up at all. As for concealers, I’m a pretty big fan of Revlon’s Photoready stick. I love that they have yellow undertones; it’s surprising how hard those kinds of shades are to find in solid drugstore concealers! I also dig Garnier’s tinted under-eye roller. I don’t have serious bags or discoloration under my eyes, but I find that it does help me look more awake!

I love that I am a very honest person without being overly hurtful.

I’ve been using the Maybelline instant age rewind for my undereyes but I really want to try out the Nars concealer.

I was in the library last week. I should be in one right now, but screw studying! :)

April showers should not turn into snow flurries!

The last time I went to a library was last week! I visit the ones on campus quite a bit…the main one is very quiet and it goes on forever. It feels like being in a church or some catacombs hehe.

  336. Lauren says:

I used my scooter for the first time in forever today and it was so fun!
