I’ve never in my life had a Band-Aid actually match my skin tone, which goes to why I like things like My Little Pony Band-Aids. 🙂
Whew! I just finished recording a bunch of videos, and that’s the good news. The not-so-good news is that I had some technical difficulties. It’s been a while since I’ve done a lot of video, and it’s like I had to relearn everything.
Such is life!
How’s your day been?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. Belated TGIF!
Lulle says
It’s so fun to see you on video again!
Things I’ve been lovely lately include the Meteorites holiday edition by Guerlain, Estee Lauder x Victoria Beckham palette, the TV show The Bridge (the original Danish/Swedish version), hot chocolate and my new-ish green booties (I bought them a while back but it was too warm to wear them).
Karen says
Hi Lulle,
That Victoria Beckham palette is the stuff. Hands down one of my fave palettes of the year!
So, where can I find this show that you like? Is it on Netflix?
Lulle says
It’s on Netflix but not streaming unfortunately, you have to get the DVDs. It was recommended by my brother and I’m so glad I listened to him! It’s in Swedish/Danish but I don’t mind subtitled shows.
And the palette, YES! It cost a kidney but I don’t regret it. Best quality palette I’ve seen in so long, it was totally worth it.
Karen says
Aw, man, I only have streaming. I’ll see if I can find it another way. Ya know what? I watch most of my shows (even the ones in English) with subtitles, LOL! Between Connor chatting and El Hub’s commentary I can’t keep up with the dialogue (I can only process one conversation at a time), but when I can see the words on the screen I can continue watching the show without having to stop and rewind.
So, completely unrelated but I just thought of this… Do you dream in French or English? I just realized that I only dream in English even though I understand Tagalog pretty fluently.
Tatiana says
Love when you do videos!
Persimmons!! YES!! I love persimmons. They’re almost $2/each at my local grocery store. Sometimes I just want to knock on the doors of the houses with trees in front and ask if I can buy fruit from their trees. At least they’re not as expensive as quinces.
Bought some Kate Somerville Goat Milk Cleanser during the Sephora sale and I am loving it. Dislike the packaging for a balmy type cleanser that has a tendency to separate, but the formula itself is divine. Not drying, rinses cleanly and smells lush.
I’ve been loving the cooler weather we’ve finally been having. Even though everyone else around me seems to think it’s freezing. Must be that I grew up in Michigan, because I feel like fall is almost here with this weather. Now if we’d only get some much needed rain.
Been loving the TV show “Atelier”. It’s a Japanese show that’s on Netflix about recent college graduate moving to Tokyo and working her first job in the garment trade.
Karen says
Thank you, Tatiana! I’m a little out of practice but hopefully they’ll get easier.
Ya know, I don’t think I’ve ever eaten a quince before. Must look into that. As for persimmons, do you have a Costco membership? I’ve bought them there before for a pretty good price, and they’re delicious too! They’re not the kind that I have in this video, but the pointer variety if that makes any sense.
I hope your Friday was a great one. Do you guys have any plans for the weekend?
Tatiana says
You really have to cook quince down, otherwise they’re not edible. But cooked they have a wonderful, sweet, tart, pear, vanilla flavor. They’re good with lamb. I love the pointy hachiya persimmons. When they’re so ripe they’re like pudding they’re good in persimmon bread.
Hope you had a good Friday, too. Watched the Warriors. Going to see Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them on Sunday.
Metta says
I love love love persimmons!! Haven’t had one in a while so now I think I have to go hunt some down since I’m craving them after watching your video. Some things I’ve been loving lately are OUAI soft hair spray, I can not stop smelling my hair! Adidas superstars, I was never really into them and didn’t get all the hype but now I am hooked, I kicked my converse to the curb and even actually got my whole family pairs for Christmas so we can all match ( yes I am that person that likes the kids and hubby to match me lol). I am finishing up Kevin Kwan’s 2nd book in his “Crazy rich Asians” series called “China rich Girlfriend “, I love his books and now I hear they are making a movie, so excited for it! And lastly Brazilian bum bum creme, I got it as a gift and I was really skeptical about this stuff because it looks so thick in the jar but it goes on so smoothly and isn’t greasy perfect for the cold mornings we’ve had here in AL lately. It smells so good and I love the slight sparkle in it.
Karen says
Hi Metta,
I’ll have to give that OUAI spray a sniff! Do you use it mainly for hold or for texture?
Adding that Kevin Kwan series to my reading list. 🙂

I am loving…

Fresh warm night air after rain with big moon
Mixing two blushes, a Chanel dark pink and a Mac shimmery brown
Chanel tisse venetienne palette
The end of the Halloween candy
Efrain says
You’re even lovelier on video! I missed them a lot. Well five things I’m loving right now:
1) L’Oréal Pro Matte foundation, ours it’s true love.
2) How to get away with murder, I’m going to watch right now the winter finale and I’m not sure if I’m prepared for it.
3) John Legend’s song “Love me now” it may be sooo cheesy but I love it.
4) Mole, my mom did a big pot of it and I have eaten it three days in a row.
5) French film festival, I’ll try to watch as many movies as I can because the tickets are cheap and most of the movies look promising.
I’m sorry for being nosy but I think everybody dreams mostly in their mother tongue. Also if you or someone can, teach Connor Tagalog it would be great for her.
lauren says
LOVE to see you on video. You have the sweetest and kindest voice.
Karen says
Thank you, Lauren! You’re so nice. I hope you’re having a nice weekend so far! What are ya doing? It’s raining here today, which is good I guess because now I don’t feel so bad about having to stay in and clean before Thanksgiving.
Erika B says
I LOVE PPERSIMMONS!! I bought myself 8 of them yesterday at the grocery store, and I intend to eat them all this weekend! Had one for breakfast this morning. 🙂 One thing I have been loving lately is NOW brand pure shea butter… it cost like 5 bucks and I use it around my eyes at night and it is waaaay better than any eye cream I have ever used!! (too heavy for under makeup though, so gotta use another eye cream in the morning.) At night I take a bit, put it around my eyes, on my lips, then rub the rest into my cuticles! AWESOME!
Karen says
Hey Erika,
Persimmons are the best! I don’t know if you live near a Costco, but the one near my house has these huge flats of persimmons that are a pretty good deal. You should check it out if you’re a Costco member.
Hope that you’re having a nice Saturday so far. What are you up to? I’m still in the house. I had to do some stuff this morning on my computer and it’s raining outside, which is NOT motivating me to leave. I think I’m going to do some power cleaning because I have family coming over for Thanksgiving next week. Cleaning is never fun but I always feel better afterward, ya know?
Erika B says
Hey Karen! I’m actually an American living in Rome, Italy, so unfortunately no Costco nearby! 🙂 One of my fav places to go when I visit the States though! 🙂 My Saturday was pretty much like yours, I guess (I’m nine hours ahead of you!)… it was rainy and so I stayed in and cleaned house, with the small exception of going out for a coffee with my boyfriend this morning! Now just getting ready to chat with my mom on skype! 🙂
Karen says
Oh how cool! My parents just got back from Italy a couple months ago and they loved Rome. I’ve never been to the city myself (I went to Milan for a quick trip a few years back) but want to go someday for the sole purpose of eating ALL THE PASTA AND ALL THE PIZZA. So how long have you been there? Are you there for school, or did you relocate there for work?
Erika B says
I’ve been here 11 years now! And yes, it is hard to stop myself from eating pizza just all the time! 🙂 I came here to study and now I teach English as a second language. You should come visit!! 🙂
Karen says
Oh, how cool! I would love to visit someday. Maybe when Connor’s a little older… I’ll be able to send her to Grandma and Grandpa Bootcamp while El Hub and I have a grand adventure in Italy. 🙂
Do you ever miss living in the US? I wonder sometimes if I could handle living in another country. It sounds so exciting but I think I would be terribly homesick.
Erika B says
I have always loved Italy and don’t easily get homesick, but considering the future, there are a lot of reasons why I might like to move back to the US one day soon. If I did, I’m sure I’d miss Italy too though! I wish I were super rich and could just switch countries every six months, lol 🙂 I hope you get to visit one day (and Connor too, when she’s older!) They have Sephora here too, so you’d have to check it out, for research purposes, of course!
Mary says
Lol, you are so cute in this vid! 1st, what is the lipstick you are wearing, love the color and it looks fabulous on you. Actually all of your makeup looks great. I am loving the Trader Joe’s cranberry orange relish (I mix with canned pineapple), the fall foliage in my woods, the Mario palette & the clear brow gel by Anastasia, (so I loved this post, I want to try those brow products). Finally, strong coffee 1st thing in the morning!
Karen says
Thanks, Mary! That lip is good old MAC Brick-o-la. It’s a pinkish brown that looks good with fall colors and warm browns like MAC Soft Brown and Saddle.
YUM FOR COFFEE! I just finished my first cup.
What are you up to today?
Kiss & Make-up says
Yaaaaaaaaaaaay, a videooooooo 😀 I don’t share food either, so I tooooooooooootally understand 🙂 And of COURSE Tabby is your favorite shade, hehe.
Chris25 says
Persimmons! I haven’t had one in ages.
I’ve been liking LOreal Voluminous mascara, Seagram’s wine coolers, my slightly larger pearl drop earrings and Delirium’s “Euphoria” song.
