1. Lip print errrthang
It started with a sweater I got ages ago at Nordstrom by a brand called Halogen that I, um…haven’t worn since I got pregnant with Connor last year.
Essentially, the sweater looks like a pair of bedazzled lips on my boobs, LOL!
I think it’s super cool.
I also LOVE this pair of Aldo Stessy K heels.
Aren’t they incredible!? They’re just so… They have… There are lips ALL OVER THEM (even on the soles and inside the shoes!)
And they’re high, too! I’m guessing the heels are 4-5 inches, and I’m so out of practice when it comes to walking in heels… It’s a skill, right? If you don’t use it, you lose it.
I received these as a gift. I also looked for the same shoe in a flat, but I couldn’t find one… There is this really cute purse, though!
2. This $5 cat headband by Etude House
I’ve also been loving this headband by Etude House because — you guys, if you’re a cat lady, why hide it? There’s no shame in that game. I mean, if you’re going to be a CCL, then accessorize like a CCL. Go all the way!
It’s bomb-@ss and only $5.20! It also stays put on my head. It never slips off, unlike those headbands that are a little too small or too snug and start to slip off as the day goes on…because why wouldn’t you wear a cat ears headband all day long?
I’ve actually worn it to bed, and it stayed put overnight.
Oh, and it’s really, really, REALLY soft. I wish they also make a black cat version.
3. Old Navy Rockstar Jeans
As I was digging through my closet this morning, I rediscovered a couple of pairs of Old Navy Rockstar jeans that I kindasorta misplaced for a while.
They usually go for between $30-35 a pair and come in a bunch of different rinses and regular, tall and petite lengths. The mid-rise ones I have also tuck in the gut pretty well.
I just saw that they also have high-rise Rockstars, too. I’m gonna go tonight, and try them on.
4. Laotian food
Holy crap! Have you had Laotian food?? Because it’s life changing.
I had some last weekend while visiting my in-laws in Redding (yes, they have a place that sells Laotian food). It’s a Laotian/Thai/Vietnamese place called Champa Garden, and I’d never had Laotian food before, so I wanted to try it.
I got the Champa Sampler, which had a whole bunch of Laotian appetizers, like this meaty side dish called larb.
It was all SO GOOD. Kinda like a hybrid between Thai Food and Filipino food. I can’t wait to have it again.
Apparently, there are also Champa Gardens in San Francisco and Oakland here in the Bay Area, so I’m gonna go very soon.
They also had an interesting green soda called Green Honey Bee Nam See Cream Soda…
I can’t explain what it tastes like… Maybe like grass jelly? It reminded me of things I had when I was a kid. Very delicious.
5. MAC Pro Longwear Waterproof Colour Stick in Tea Leaves
In other news…you know I love the Pro Longwear Water Proof Colour Sticks, right? Well, Tea Leaves ($22) is a beautiful neutral golden brown with some shimmer to it.
I like to pop it on my lids, blend out the edge, then sweep MAC Soba Eye Shadow in my crease for a super easy, elegant neutral brown eye.
It’s been one of my favorite things these days. 🙂
That’s it for me! How about you? What have you been loving lately? (It doesn’t have to be five things. One thing is totally fine too.) Talk to you soon!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Laotian food sounds amazing! I have been absolutely loving MAC Soba again. I hit pan on my previous one and used it till it died. I bought a new pan recently-I’d forgotten how amazing it was!
Karen says
It’s so good. I’m drooling just thinking about it!
What do you like to wear with Soba?
Erin says
I thought Larb was Thai! Guess I know better now.
That food looks awesome.
As for me:
1.This stuffed toy monkey I got my dog, He can’t play with any of his usual toys as he had surgery. He’s finally embracing it.
2. TV! I’ve not been watching much and I’m trying to catch up on some shows.
3. Civilization, the game. I need to forget about the world outside and this is how I do it sometimes.
4. Wine… are we getting the theme yet. Luckily, a $5 from trader joes is enough.
5. Aloe infused socks!

Love the lip prints! Need to try the Rockstar jeans and Laotian food 🙂
Some things I’ve been loving lately:
Two new cheek colors that read as neutral (neither warm nor cool) on my cheeks, which is a category of product that is really, really, really hard for me to find, because cheek colors almost always read more warm/orange on me than they really are (I think by contrast with my very cool undertones, but who knows, really?). Anyway, they are: Burberry Silk ‘n Bloom blush palette, which is really just one blush, but it’s really, really beautiful and easy to blend. On me it comes across basically as a rosy plum, but it changes a bit according to what else I’ve got on my face; and Diorskin Nude Air Luminizer in color 4, which I wear as a blush — it’s a reddish brown with like *no* orange in it! Both of these were very expensive blushes for me, but I think really worth it. They look beautiful on me and are so easy to apply and blend.
The MAC Rock Chick lipsticks. Such a great assortment of colors, and most of them seem to perform well, without being the uncomfortable, drying kind of mattes.
Zsa’s Peppermint Bark Ice Cream, which they only seem to make in December and January every year. It’s a local Philadelphia brand, and it’s the best!
Silk scarves. I seriously cannot get enough of them; it’s becoming like an addiction. They so easily transform an entire look! I started with Target scarves a few years ago, have moved on to Echo, Halogen, J.Crew, Vince Camuto, La Fiorentina. I try to buy them when they go on sale, but have learned (the hard way!) not to wait on the ones I love most, or they will sell out!
Black/white/grey prints and grey/navy prints, especially geometric ones, especially mixing them. So neutral, so chic, so flattering.
Knitting (and beautiful yarns!), especially while listening to audiobooks.
Taking walks when the weather is not too uncomfortable (today was so grey and windy, it felt horribly cold out there — tomorrow at least it’s supposed to be sunny!).

Those Aldo heels are EVERYTHING. <3
Lately I've been experimenting with more "natural" looking brows (straighter, less dramatic arch, less "fleeky" if you will haha) and so far, I've been liking it! 🙂
Have a wonderful weekend, Karen!

I’ve been loving using my Revlon Colorstay Crème eyeshadow in Caramel as a lighter liner for a big wing that’s less harsh. I don’t like it as an eyeshadow all over (cream shadows always crease on me), but this has been a fun way to use it.
I’ve only been able to wear one particular pair of boots lately because I have an ankle splint due to a sprain, and it only fits in one of my pairs of shoes!

I love lip prints! I have a tank top very similar to your shirt. Metallic red trim instead of sleeves. 🙂 That food looks really, really good.
Five things I’m loving lately:
1) Adult coloring books and colored pencils. I’m awesome at coloring, if I do say so myself.
2) My new black and white striped sweater dress. I don’t know how a basic cut sweater dress with horizontal stripes can be flattering on a big lady like me, but this one is. I got it on clearance for $20 to boot. 🙂
3) Medusa’s Makeup Blush in Dangerous Liaison. It a lovely cool, bright pink with a beautiful satin finish.
4) Meinhard: His music is hard to describe. Eclectic goth fantasy, I suppose, but that seems completely inadequate.
5) Warm socks. It’s been freaking cold in the Oregon lately.

I also have that Etude House headband, it’s so cute! I think they do have it in black, check on Ebay.
I’ve never had Laotian food but it sounds tempting! I have an aunt from Laos, I remember being super impressed as a kid to see her cook with chopsticks. But I don’t think she ever made anything from her home country.
Beckie says
omgomgomg those Aldo shoes are everything.

I’ve never heard of Laotian food but I do live in a very white area. I would hope that I could find some in Seattle’s International District. Yum!
Here are a few things I’ve been loving lately:
1) AIR DRY IT Undone Style Cream by L’Oreal. I use a volumizing mousse on the crown of my head and a cream to control flyaways in the dry winter air. I like the scent, I like how the product works, and I really like that it’s inexpensive.
2) I compiled a Muppets playlist in YouTube for my nieces consisting of classic performances. We watch it at least twice a week and they want me to add more songs. I so love introducing the girls to awesome things that I also love!
3) I met a new female friend recently through one of my closest friends. I don’t make new friends easily. The last time I did, the two women went all junior high on me and basically froze me out of the friendship. Anyhow. I am cautiously optimistic about this new friendship and am looking forward to seeing how it pans it out.

Loatian food? Never heard of it, I have never had any Filipino food either but Loatian food sounds and looks delicious!
I have been loving my Mac Waterproof Shadow Sticks, I need something like Tea Leaves though- I think I am going to add it to my cart!
Speaking of shoes- I have been trying to find a pair of short boots that are comfortable and that I could wear with dress pants but, apparently, DSW is already in the summer mode! Gah..

Hi Karen, if you love lip prints check out Lulu Guinness’ bags and accessories, especially the lips clutches which are actually lip shaped bags. Right now my favourite thing is Narciso Rodriguez eau de parfum Poudree, which I bought a few days ago and haven’t stopped wearing since. Also my new Chanel Le Crayon de Couleur in Rouge Corail, which I am saving for spring when the sun emerges, it will be a colourful celebration of spring!

Things I’ve been loving lately!
1. My bkr water bottle that helping remind me to stay hydrated!
2. Collagen everything. Lately, been obsessed with eating and drinking collagen to help heal my skin with it’s dryness and disordered barrier.
3. Matcha!
4. Yoga. I love doing yoga and did it for 31 days straight in Jan. I’m doing it on alternate days in Feb now
5. I love the snow! I know it sounds weird but it’s snowing here in Vancouver in February and I’m kind of loving it. Like a pre-spring last hurrah!
Syah says
‘that’s helping’ and ‘its dryness’ – grammar mistake!

#4 & #5. Love, love, love larb!!! Yummy!
Tea Leaves is a pretty color. Need to swatch these as my experience tells me it will look different on my cool, frosty pale skin.
Been going through my stashes (of makeup, perfume, nail polish, costume jewelry, clothes, books) and downsizing. While I don’t love doing it while I’m actually at it, I love the feeling of having less stuff (that I really love) and more room. So I’ve basically been shopping my stash.

Hi Karen!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I am green with envy that you’re able to just go to Redding without a second thought. It’s my hometown, and I desperately miss it. I’m down in San Diego now, and it takes planning & money to make it back home. I love how you share your trips up there….
Top 5 Things I’m Loving:
1. Bubble Island 2 & Bubble Witch 3 – love them bubble popper games!
2. Hagen-Daaz Prailines & Cream ice cream – they only sell this flavor at Walgreens, and it is out of this world yummy.
3. Torrid anything – fashion for fat girls (like me!) but awesome, on-trend fashion.
4. Thomas’ Maple French Toast bagels – you need to try these
5. God – He continues to amaze me. He is working miracles in my life, and in the lives of those closest to me. Even the hard stuff I Go through, there’s always something I learn in the midst of the pain. And I am grateful for the pain.
So, not your typical list, but it’s mine just the same 🙂
