1. The Victoria Beckham X Estée Lauder Eye Palette
I love this palette so hard!
So hawd.
Like, when I close my eyes, I can see it and feel myself clutching it in my palm. I want to sleep with it under my pillow so I can dream about it…
I talked about it a little last week. It’s the Victoria Beckham X Estée Lauder Eye Palette, and it’s $95 (!). But oh! — the blending is off the chain.
The beautiful jewel-tone colors are perfect for fall. All I really need to do with it is rim my lash and water lines with black eyeliner, put a layer of any one of the colors on my lids, buff it out, apply mascara, and my eyes are done.
Love it, love, love it, love it!
Don’t love the $95 price, though…
2. Celestial Seasonings Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride Tea
OK, confession — I may or may not have bought this box of tea in August.
August.
Which is so far from anything having to do with sugar cookie or sleigh rides, but I saw it at Target on the shelf and couldn’t resist.
I’ve been sort of parsing out the bags very slowly, but now that we’re getting closer to the appropriate time and we can start talking about Christmas stuff, I’ve been going through it like crazy.
Oh, my gosh, it’s so good. It really does taste like a sugar cookie in a cup, and it satisfies any sort of sweet tooth urges that I have. Whenever I want a piece of candy or whatever, I have a cup of this instead.
3. Black Mirror Season 3
Black Mirror! I binge-watched the new season last weekend, and I’m about to binge-watch it again.
It’s such a good show! OK, it’s sci-fi, but please don’t let that turn you off. It’s sci-fi like The Twilight Zone.
In one of the episodes, in a not-so-distant future, people are super obsessed with their social media rankings. It basically takes over their life, and they wear these contacts so they can instantly connect with other people, be they friends, family members or strangers. They can instantly rate every interaction from one to five stars.
It’s freaky.
One of the other episodes, San Junipero, is my favorite one. I’m probably gonna watch it a third time this week. It’s about… I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to ruin it for you, but there’s this idea of living forever in specific eras through technology, and I’ll just leave that there.
4. Belinda Carlisle’s Heaven Is a Place on Earth
OK, so this is leftover from watching the San Junipero episode of Black Mirror. I watched this video for the first time in probably 15 years, and you know what…? It’s friggin’ weird! There’s a bunch of people dressed up in the same outfit, and they have these glowing globes… And they’re doing this weird choreography.
The video is weird, but the song is genius. It’s stuck in my head right now.
5. The Girl on the Train, by Paula Hawkins
Audiobooks usually take me forever and a day to finish, but I flew through this one. I couldn’t put it down, so to speak. I listened to it every chance I got.
I know it’s a movie right now, and I wanted to finish the book before seeing the movie.
It’s a tense, well-written murder mystery. You gotta figure out whodunnit.
The narrator is someone who you’re not too sure you can trust. She’s a woman whose life isn’t on the right track because… Not on the right track? Trains? Haha. 🙂
Anyway, she’s divorced, recently lost her job, and she’s super depressed about it. She also has a drinking problem. And she thinks she may have witnessed a murder, but she’s unsure because her memory can be spotty. You’re not sure if you can trust her as a narrator. Such a great story.
What are some things you’ve been loving lately?
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

That Victoria Beckham palette is soooo pretty!
I just started the new season of Black Mirror last night. The first episode was a trip, and too easily what our obsession with social media could become.
I’m also currently loving: The Pet Shop Boys (I’m seeing them in concert tonight as a late birthday gift, and I’ve been blasting their music in my car the last few weeks.); The Kat von D Metal Matte Palette (So. Freaking. Good.); Westworld (HBO); Supernatural (I just started season 4 on Netflix); and Tillamook Ice Cream in Pumpkin Cookie Butter (#foodgasm).
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
I’m officially obsessed with that palette. I haven’t done any layering yet with cream shadows (I’ve just worn it by itself) but I have a feeling once I get some Paint Pots up in the mix it’s going to be dreamy.
Have fun at the concert tonight, and happy belated birthday! What’s the makeup plan for tonight? P.S. I’m going to blast What Have I Done to Deserve This now…
Rachel R. says
Thank you for the belated bday wishes. 🙂 The concert was so fun! They put on quite the light show. Our whole family had a blast.
I did pinup makeup and it turned out beautifully. I used Urban Decay Midnight Cowboy on the lids, UD Laced in the crease, a little MAC Sketch in the outer corner, Too Faced Unicorn on the brow bone, and Notoriously Morbid The Lady Amalthea in the inner corner. Midnight blue winged liner. Nude blush and subtle highlighter on the cheeks. Too Faced La Matte Lipstick in Rebel Heart on the lips.

Fun list! A few things I’m loving: 1) Trader Joe’s Pumpkin Pie Mochi 2) Orange Theory Fitness classes – obsessed (and helps work off the the moch and other pumpkin goodiesi)! 3). Becca Blushed With Light palette – so pretty 4) Plaid shirts – purchased for the first time last weekend and am wondering why I waited so long! 5) Assorted fall candles – yeah I’m #BasicAsHell
Karen says
Hey Karen!
I’ve been dying to try Orange Theory Fitness. A studio recently opened up in my town and I keep trying to go to a class but I dunno, it just hasn’t worked out yet. How long have you been doing it? Was it hard in the beginning?
So… plaid shirts. OK, I went to the mall last weekend and I saw a black and white one at Express that I liked that was $70 (really?), and I was just like, “No, that’s not happening.” Right after I went to Target and I saw this really super cute plaid dress:
http://www.target.com/p/women-s-plaid-double-weave-shirt-dress-merona/-/A-50968769
I love the red version of it. I think I might go back to try it on (that day I was just window shopping).
jonirae says
I’m so happy that plaid flannel-esque shirts have suddenly popped back into some measure of fashion! I love the ones that are cotton and super soft instead
of the thicker, stiffer, more traditional actual flannels… they’re so comfortable!! and Karen’s right, target is on point with their plaids right now! 🙂
Karen says
Jonirae! Have you picked up any plaids from Tar-ghay?! I’m going today to look at that dress again…
Rachel says
You will like The Girl on the Train movie. I read the book and saw the movie and enjoyed both. Things I’ve been loving: pumpkin spice coffee creamer, my electric heated blanket, and my house! (The renovations are finally wrapping up!)
Karen says
Hi Rachel,
Yay! Congrats on the renovations being almost wrapped up. I’m sure that’s really exciting. What did you guys have done?
If I won the lottery tomorrow, girl, I’d have our carpet ripped out and I’d have hardwood floors installed. And then I’d re-do all the bathrooms. And then I’d change out the windows, and then paint the place!
Anyway, I’m looking forward to watching the movie this weekend because I love Emily Blunt. I’ve loved her ever since I saw her in Devil Wears Prada. She’s one of my faves!
Rachel says
Basically we redid everything! My dad and boyfriend do construction/carpentry so we did most of it ourselves, like patching the cracks in the plaster walls, refinishing the hardwood floors, and I pretty much painted the whole house! Mostly just the kitchen is left and we still need to install new countertops and flooring.
Karen says
Nice! It must be great to have loved ones who know how to do that kind of stuff! What color did you paint the house? Right now we have all our rooms except for the kitchen painted a neutral cool gray. I read somewhere that cool colors are supposed to inspire calm.
One day I’d love to paint each room a different color. I like the idea of going into different rooms and having them having a different vibe. Someday, someday.
Rachel says
My rooms are all different colors, lol! My room is green, there’s a coral guest room and a tan guest room. My favorite color is probably the greige in the kitchen!
Joyce says
Karen did you catch The Walking Dead premiere?? If so, how are you feeling about it?
Karen says
Hey Joyce,
I did watch the premiere and ya know, to be honest, it put me off the show. I don’t know if I’m going to keep watching. I’ve loved the show so hard for so long, but I feel like they just drew out the scene way too much and the violence was gratuitous. It felt like it was a lot of pomp and a lot of buildup, and I wish it would’ve just happened quickly instead of being so drawn out. What did you think about it?
Joyce says
I know what you mean. The violence was over the top for me as well, and I had the same feeling of not wanting to watch anymore. I think I’m going to try to watch the next few episode to see the direction it continues in and decide from there. On a makeup related note, something i have been loving lately is the Lorac mega pro palette 3. I bought it last week, its my first mega palette from them and I am loving it!
Karen says
My husband keeps trying to get me to stick with the show. He basically said the same thing, that it’ll probably get better over the next few episodes. It was too much for me to take… But I do have to say, have you seen any of the pictures that Steven Yeun posted on social media of the special effects makeup they did on him? It is INCREDIBLE. It looks legit, that eye popping out, ohmygosh. Who ever did that is a true artist.
I’m glad that you like the Mega Palette Pro 3. Don’t the shadows blend so easily? It’s really nice how LORAC makes blending super easy and not even a thing. How are you doing with keeping the palette clean? That was my big issue with the white packaging. Mine is SO dirty all the time and I don’t even bother to keep it clean anymore.
Chris25 says
I love “Heaven on Earth” and “I Get Weak”. Belinda looks so pretty in both videos.
I have been loving Lush bath bombs, Tarte Tartiest Lip Paint in Bae, Liam Garrigan, sleeping a little bit later than usual and Sunday Riley Good Genes.
Karen says
Good Genes is amazing! I love that product.
Kiss & Make-up says
I also have the VB palette and I agree, what a stunner! Love it.
Efrain says
Five things:
1) How to get away with murder, second season was a little boring but the third season is as good as the first one.
2) Benefit Goof proof brow pencil, I got a sample and even though the color may not be perfect I’m really liking the product. I’m not sure about paying 24 dollars for it.
3) Pan de muerto, some bakeries are selling them since September but right now is the main season so you can eat a lot it.
4) Training with my physiotherapist, it’s awkward because I went with he to get some pain relief on my hips but instead he’s training me to avoid more injuries. Yesterday we worked legs and today my muscles feel sore.
5) My French teacher, she’s one of the funniest and loveliest teacher I’ve ever had, also my French has improved a lot.
And the extra: Logan movie, I’ve always been a fan of the X-Men even though I haven’t read the comics and yes I squealed when I watched the trailer, I have high expectations.
I still haven’t watched TWD and Black Mirror but I need to finish Jane the virgin.
Karen says
Hey Efrain,
Sore muscles are a good thing! It means your getting stronger. Are you guys doing core work as well?
Efrain says
Yep, at least once a week but my core isn’t as strong as it should be.
Fran says
Karen, I’ve been obsessing about that palette, too. I don’t think it’s like Prism, something that I’m going to regret missing forever, but, still… I especially adore the blue and the green shades, but Blond Cumin is gorgeous, too, and of course I’d use the gray shade a lot… and I see that Net-a-Porter still has it in stock… but it’s $95???!!
Karen says
Yeah, it’s CRAZY expensive. But girl, it’s so good. Like keep in your makeup bag with the stuff you wear EVERY DAY good.
Fran says
Hmmm… I’m *so* tempted! *So* tempted!
Kim says
You’re making me want to try that tea – was it one of your faves, last year? It sounds really familiar! But maybe I’m thinking of something from TJs that wasn’t candy cane. Anyway! I watched a few eps of the first season of Black Mirror but haven’t gotten back to it in a while. I assume as I read backwards that you mention TWD, which is the only thing I’ve watched lately aside from Westworld. 🙂
Indya says
That palette… it’s pretty and I believe you but I had sworn it off for the price. Now I find myself shamefully reconsidering. That tea sounds delicious! I am going to look it up NOW! Haha I saved that show Black Mirror in my Netflix queue just the other day. Perhaps I shall check it out!
Maria says
Black Mirror – OMG didn’t even realize a new season was out! YAY!!
The Girl on the Train – I tried to listen to it while in the pool doing laps and I couldn’t stand the narrator’s voice for some reason and almost gave up on the story. I ended up reading it after a few months and it’s so good. The movie was great but I was bummed it wasn’t set in the UK.
Love the randomness I get from your blog! Makeup and videos 🙂
