Good morning, girls. Hope you slept well. 🙂 I wanted to touch base before running off to the Convention Center.
Each October (admittedly, more now than in past years), I get a few limited-edition breast cancer awareness (BCA) products for myself and to give as gifts to friends and family.
I’m amazed by how much Breast Cancer Awareness Month has changed over the past few years. Like almost everything else in our part of the world, the event’s been heavily commodified and commercialized, but I’m okay with that. If the sight of those little pink ribbons in every nook and cranny of our lives increases our awareness of the disease (even if we don’t always like the way some choose to use it), I think it benefits us all.
So here are four of my BCA favorites of the year. 🙂 *LOVE* the Foot Petals heart-shaped pad…
Sonia Kashuk Bag Lady Cosmetic Case
How ’bout the print and dual zippers on this pretty pink makeup bag? It’s one of several items from Sonia Kashuk’s Shop Pink Do More collection from breast cancer survivor and beauty genius Sonia Kashuk.
Cute, right? It holds a ton of makeup, and 15% of the purchase price goes to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
Where to buy: $12, check your local Target store
Papyrus Blank BCA Notecards
I first spied these cute blank notecards at Papyrus a few months ago.
The colors and designs always bring a smile to my face…
Each box comes with four different illustrations (20 cards total), with 10% of the price going toward The Breast Cancer Research Foundation, and this is something they’re doing not just throughout October but year round.
Where to buy: $15, at Papyrus stores.
Foot Petals Rose Heart Tip Toes
In my favorite sandals these bad boys make me feel like I’ve been walking on air, and Foot Petals donates 10% of each sale to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
Where to buy: $7, Footpetals.com
ghd Pink Set
This adorable, pretty-in-pink set comes with ghd styling iron (aka the hair god’s gift to frizzy-haired women everywhere), two hair clips, a pink brush and two matching bags (to help carry all of your hair styling essentials).
It’s awfully pricey at $255 but comes with so much stuff that it works out to be a pretty good deal — ghd stylers can run about $270 for the iron alone.
For each set sold, ghd will donate $15 to the Young Survival Coalition.
Where to buy: $255, at ghdhair.com.

I am loving the foot petals too! I also like the GHD iron set. I just got a Sedu, but I hear good things about GHD.

Hi Kajal,
Both are great irons. One cool thing about the ghd is that it heats up *fast*.

Hi Blovet Beauty,
It’s really pretty… I love anything pink! 🙂

I love foot petals! I have them in about half of my shoes to make them comfy for walking and when I go out clubbing. I’m glad they’re donating a portion to charity. I’m pretty sure I’ll be picking up at least 5 of those. 🙂

Hi Christy,
Aren’t they awesome? Have you tried the ones that go into the arch of the shoe? I love those too.
Alison says
My boyfriend got me the pink GHD’s last year for my birthday, it’s one of the best presents I have ever got and don’t know how I managed without them before! It’s true that they heat up super quick and leave the best results I have experienced from any other iron I’ve tried.
This year I got the Estee Lauder breast cancer lip set, it had a lip liner, lipstick and gloss in a lovely pink case.

Hi Alison,
EL always has great sets. I got their lipgloss set last year… it’s still one of my faves!
How’s your Thursday going?
Christy says
Hey Karen,
No, I haven’t seen those ones yet. I think I’ll order them though. My arches can get sore if I walk too long in bad shoes. Sigh, the things I do for shoes. 😉
Don’t forget to go to Tao at the Venetian! It’s got great food =)

This is awesome, thank you for posting! I’m loving how many products are out there to support fighting the disease. My aunt had a double mastectomy because of breast cancer when I was in high school, so knowing that she’s on my mom’s side of the family makes me high risk for having it in the future. I’m going to go buy that Sonia Kashuk bag after work, cuz hubs and I are going on a road trip this weekend and I’ve been worried about what to carry my makeup in! Wow, long comment… all that to say “thanks” for posting the products :).

Hi Karen,
I’ve had a good day, went shopping bought some new boots. What’s weird is I didn’t come home with any makeup this time! Even the Chanel counter didn’t tempt me today, I must be coming down with something *feels forehead for temperature*!

The note cards are so cute and girly. I love personalized art that I can pass along to my friends and they are for a good cause.

I have a CHI flat iron, and it works amazingly.
I wonder how ghd compares…
Lucia says
Aww I love that ghd set!! I’ve been wanting to get a new straightener ever since my old janky one died on me randomly -_- Do you have any recommendations for more affordable but still good quality irons? I can’t ever justify getting a straightener when I can use that $255 for a nice pair of much-needed boots or flats hahaha
