If you’ve ever seen the 1998 direct-to-video classic smash hit Children of the Corn V: Fields of Terror, you may have shouted at the TV, “Great Caesar’s ghost! That’s Eva Mendes!”
Born in Miami, Florida to Cuban parents on March 5, 1974, Eva was raised in Los Angeles by her mother after her parents divorced. One day, around the time she was in college unhappily studying marketing, she caught the eye of an agent who convinced her to pursue a career in acting.
From there it was on to music videos like Will Smith’s Miami, the Pet Shop Boys’ That’s the Way Life Is and Aerosmith’s Hole in My Soul, until her big-screen big break in 2001’s Training Day, with Denzel Washington and Ethan Hawke, which led to appearances in Hitch, We Own the Night and The Spirit. source
As for her look, I love what she does with her hair. She isn’t afraid to add volume, and she doesn’t shy away from sexy styles.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I do love those long, loose layers (and anything alliterative 😛 )!
BTW, I stumbled a great giggle yesterday, a workout DVD called Bollywood Booty! LOL! For $15 I may have to splurge and work my booty off to some Bollywood dance routines in my living room!
Karen says
Hi Glosslizard,
That actually sounds REALLY fun! A lot of those Bollywood dances seem like a lot of work. 🙂
How are you doing on this fine Wednesday?
Marina says
I don’t like her with any hair style. Just don’t like anything about her.

She always gets the vixen roles, just like me, haha kidding. 🙂
Karen says
Hi Sarahc,
LOL!

Did you watch “The Women”? Eva Mendes played the mistress of a wealthy man and in one scene, she strutted to great her rival and ooh la la, the girl knows how to work it. Also, her hair was gorgeous in that movie.

Hi Dao,
I haven’t seen it! Is it good?
Pobeda says
Uhm, I’m totally ambivalent about Eva. Just blank. 🙂
I don’t understand why hasn’t got her nose done yet – that would make her so cheerful-looking and really appealing.

I really like her. She’s gorgeous, but she doesn’t seem to flaunt it like a lot of other celebrities… oh, and she actually has some curves, which is awesome :).

Hi Alexis,
I like that she’s not stick-skinny too. I wish she’d do more work…

I like styles number 2 and 9. It is pretty even steven for me between the two styles.

Hi Amy,
Both are super pretty! Homegirl has some nice hair.
Marisol says
I really liked her in Hitch!

Hi Marisol,
That’s one of those movies I can watch over and over again. I am still deeply envious of her Beatles T-shirt in that movie.
How’s your day going, btw?
Tavia says
I voted for no 9. It’s her natural style, she was sexy with this hairstyle.

Karen says
Hi Tavia,
I love that style, too. I wish my hair looked like that 24/7.
Glosslizard says
Right?!? I’m actually planning to get it just so I can boogie to the Bollywood beat! I’ll just need some kohl and a good, bold lippie and I’m all set!
I just got back from aikido, a friend of mine from a couple years back is visiting this week! He went off to Barcelona to get a masters, and now he’s working on his doctorate! Consequently I stayed up waaaaaay too late, and will pay dearly for it come tomorrow morning! Right this second… I feel great! 🙂
Et vous?
Dao says
It’s an all-female cast movie with Meg Ryan, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Debra Messing, and other people whose name I forgot. It’s funny and empowering and a remake from an old-time movie called “The Women” as well. You should watch it, and the extended scenes on the DVD as well.

Hi Dao,
Funny and empowering are great things in my book. I’ll look for it next time I’m the video store. 🙂
