There’s something about…Cameron. Cameron Michelle Diaz (born August 30, 1972) grew up, as she puts it, “in Southern California on the beach, basically.” She wasn’t born into the entertainment business — her father worked more than 20 years maintaining and supporting oil wells, and her mother worked as an import-export agent — but she was well on her way into it by the age of 16, when she began her career as a fashion model, contracting with modeling agency Elite Model Management.
By 17, she was on the cover of Seventeen (here’s the cover); by 21, she was starring in movies (her first was The Mask in 1994).
Since then she’s either starred in or voiced (in Shrek) more than 30 films, like Vanilla Sky, one of my favorites of hers (she played that psycho), and In Her Shoes (LOVE!), opposite Toni Collette.
If you’re ever in the mood for a fun, physical comedy, check out Knight and Day. Not because I think it’s an Oscar-caliber movie, mind you, but because I think it’s just a lot of fun.
I’ve always liked her casually sexy approach to hair. It’s very easy, very California girl (she’s an avid surfer), with mostly unstructured styles. It seems to suit her well.
Right now she’s starring in Bad Teacher, which I’m thinking about seeing tomorrow night (have you seen it yet?).
Lawd knows I had a few of those! 🙂

I like no. 6. Looks laid-back, but still nice and girly 🙂
Karen says
That style’s cute. I wish my bangs did that, sigh.
Happy Friday!
linds says
Ah! You liked Vanilla Sky? My uncle edited that movie! (Along with other movies like Marley and Me, Wedding Crashers, Fred Claus, The Blind Side…etc)
🙂
Karen says
I did. I thought it was really good (I’m into sci fi). That’s cool that your uncle works in the film industry! Are you a movie buff?
linds says
I’ve just recently gotten addicted to watching movies. So, yes, I guess you could say I am 🙂
yuri says
i like 5 and 6
Karen says
Cute!

I love n.6 and 7!
Karen says
Me too!
Advah says
6! Although I can’t figure out if it’s the haircut or the fact her eyes aren’t lined, but she looks gorgeous. And damn that Seventeen cover is adorable!
PS: In Her Shoes made me weep like a little girl.
Karen says
I used to subscribe to Seventeen back in the day and can remember seeing her on the cover of that issue (I like how the list under “Seeing Stars” in the lower left hand corner includes Wilson Philips and Technotronic). Can’t believe that was over 20 years ago, yikes!
Also, In Her Shoes is one of my favorite chick flicks. I can watch it over and over.
Happy Friday! 🙂
Stephanie says
I voted 6. But not only her hair is beautiful, her make-up is also very pretty.
Karen says
It is. I like the soft eyes and bold lip look on her.

I loved Cameron in My Best Friend’s Wedding and in In Her Shoes (that movie was criminally under-rated — she was seriously Oscar-worthy there).
Bad Teacher, on the other hand, is just . . . bad. Stay away, Karen! I honestly have a sense of humor and am not overly politically correct, but that thing was so offensive to women. Her character is beyond awful — there is literally NOTHING likeable about her — and it seems to have been written by men who think all pretty women are gold-digging tramps out to trap a rich man. Even my TV crush Jason Segel (the main reason I wanted to see the movie) couldn’t save that thing.
Honestly, I don’t mean to be a downer and I’ve suspended disbelief for a lot of movies, but this was just so awful.
Karen says
Hey Faye,
It sounds like we have similar taste in movies (I loved both My Best Friend’s Wedding and In Her Shoes), so I’ll take your advice and wait for it to hit cable so I can fast forward if I get annoyed, LOL!
Faye says
I think that’s a decision you won’t regret. If you haven’t seen it yet, I recommend Bridesmaids — a bit raunchy but very funny!
Nina says
cameron is the perfect picture of an all american girl! 🙂 love her hair in 7!
Karen says
Me too! I have to wrestle my hair into submission for it to look like that, LOL!
BTW, TGIF!
Nina says
TGIF!!! 🙂
oh i hear ya — my hair has a mind of its own!
Melissa says
The Sweetest Thing!!!! My fav Cameron movie 🙂 “oooh thank you leather coat guy” “leather coat guy is looking kinda good” “SHOTGUN!” lol
Karen says
OH yeah, I remember that movie! It’s set in San Francisco. 🙂
Kim says
I just caught part of Knight & Day on HBO recently and thought it was pretty entertaining too. 🙂 I think my favorite with Cameron is A Life Less Ordinary, though. Also not Oscar worthy, but it’s cute and quirky and stars Ewan McGregor. Really, that’s enough said, right? 🙂
Karen says
Ya know, I still haven’t seen that one so I’ll have to add it to my “to watch” list.
(Oh, and that Ewan McGregor’s in probably doesn’t hurt!)
Kim says
EM was definitely the draw for me. I believe I saw it in major crush-phase (right after Moulin Rouge). 🙂
Amanda says
I saw Bad Teacher a few weekends ago and I can honestly say it’s just so – so. I guess I didn’t realize excatly what the movie was about before seeing it. I didn’t know if was basically a romantic comedy. It has some funny parts but most of those are already in the trailers you may have already seen.
Karen says
Thanks for the heads up! I’ve heard from a couple people that it’s not very good… I think I’m going to have to skip it.
DanaJae says
I loved it, a couple times I thought to myself “self, your laughing to loud” lol
Suzanne says
I love no. 6 & no. 8 – her makeup is gorgeous in # 9. I do not like her as a brunette at all – she needs to stick to blonde. She is a true natural beauty – like the all American girl next door. It is fun seeing all her looks – Thanks!
DanaJae says
Hands down #5
Kathy says
I like #6 …Her blonde highlights are beautiful, her hair is parted on the side and that makes her sideswept bangs look perfect. I had my hair cut in a similar style a few months ago and little by little my hair went back to parting in the middle again and wearing it naturally wavy. Oh well, I guess it’s nice to know you can try out different hairstyles for awhile but they can always go back to the way it naturally falls….
Julie says
You forgot the short bob in Something about mary. In my opinion that was her best hair ever.
Aimey says
i’ve always been a fan of cam! i’ve always thought her smile was super gorgeous & envied how big & wide it could get! i haven’t seen all her movies, but she definitely makes me not mind watching “the holiday” over and over again! (btw, i hated her black hair days–eck. why do people always tend to opt for the color completely opposite of their natural roots?)
Elle says
Maybe I am the only one who liked Bad Teacher in this group 😉 I know her character is a stereotype but she does have redeeming qualities in the end…if anything Justin Timberlake is the weak link (as always) in the movie…and I think it’s worth it for Jason Segel alone, but I’m crushing hard, so that might affect my opinion. I love her hair though and the fact that she takes a lot of fashion risks.
Vesna (beautyaddict) says
#6 is the best, if you ask me. She looks like she’s in her best years 🙂
Mary says
I voted for #5. When she has dark hair and it’s long, it really brings out her eyes.
Lizzard says
I know I’m a bit late, but BAD TEACHER IS SO FUNNY! Seriously, it’s a movie I’d want to own! PS I wanted to say, you have some fab-oh! jewelry in every post! 🙂
