You wouldn’t think that hair ties would be something to be particular about, but I’m so particular about my hair ties. They can’t give me a headache; I don’t want them to leave a weird bend in my hair; I don’t want them to snag my hair, and these Tony Ties by Mia don’t do any of those things. They’re my new favorite hair ties, and I love them so much that I packed them away to bring with me to the hospital on B-day (birth day).
That’s when you know your love for something is real deal — when you’re willing to go into labor for an unspecified amount of time with it…
Here are five things (one of them’s a combo) I’ve been loving lately. How about you? What are some things you’ve been loving too?
- Mia Beauty Tony Ties ($5 for a pack of three)
- T3 BodyWaver 1.75 Professional Curling Iron ($149)
- Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder ($38)
- Jackie Aina (lilpumpkinpie05 on YouTube)
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. TGIF!

oh snap! are you wearing Chanel’s new nail gloss? Fabulous mani!
Karen says
Yes! It looks good from far away, but up close it’s kind of a mess, LOL! I don’t know if the bottle I have is wonky, but it’s very thick and hard to work with. Good wear time though!

Gee, I didn’t know there could be a big difference among hair ties! I better pay more attention. I guess I will have to check out the Hourglass Ambient Strobing Powder – so much love for that product lately.
Hmm, I’m loving:

2. PUR Cosmetics HydraFluid Water Serum Foundation
3. Besame lipstick

I can’t wait to see these Hourglass Strobe powders in person! I will probably splurge on one! I have been loving apples with peanut butter and chocolate chips! And I have been also obsessed with Naked 3 palette again! Have been wearing it every day this week.

If you search for Fold Over Elastic in Amazon you can buy lengths and in different colours/patterns much cheaper, although no charms.
You can use them as shoelaces to, you don’t need to undo them if you put them in trainers, very useful.

Teal is a beautiful color on you. The sweater and the eye makeup are killing it. Jackie Aina is awesome, and hilarious.
Five things that I’m loving lately:
1. Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Blush Palette: Pale girl’s dream blushes!
2. Urban Decay Gwen Stefani lipstick in Firebird. I’m obsessed.
3. e.l.f. Lock On Liner and Brow Cream. I’ve finally found my HG brow product, and this is it. It’s a dupe for ABH Dipbrow. Actually, I like the e.l.f. product better than the ABH.
4. Danger Mouse. My kids and I have been watching the classic series on Netflix. We also found out it was rebooted last September, so we’ve seen a couple episodes of that, too. They did an excellent job with the reboot.
5. My Sequin Lips Tee from Torrid. It goes great with the Firebird lipstick. 😉

Thanks for the hair ties recommendation. I, too, am very fussy about them. I found a pair of scrunchy like ties at Ulta that I wanted to get to wrap my hair in while I sleep to help build up the wave but they were $5 a piece and I felt like I was getting ripped off. So I found some super cheapo ones somewhere, T.J. maybe? They have to be really soft too so they don’t contribute to the breakage I’m prone to from all the coloring.
I’m totally loving Dior’s Capture Totale Dreamskin. It’s more than I like to spend on a primer but it makes my skin look so amazing. I’ve been just wearing that on the weekends instead of my standard weekend BB cream.
I’m also loving Living Proof’s dry shampoo. I generally dislike dry shampoo but this one actually seems like it cleans my hair and leaves it looking better. Although, it feels like it leaves a bit of a residue and I have to scrub my head more once I shampoo in the shower.

5 things I have been loving lately?
1. My heating pad against pelvic pain
2. Stretchy pants.
3. The freezing cold, so my skin stopped being an oil-slick
4. Little Beans morning cuddles in our bed
5. The fact that it won’t be long now until B-Day.
Even though I haven’t made up my mind about my delivery hair ties yet.

Hi Karen,
You’re looking lovely as always. Please tell me which you prefer – Becca highlighters or the Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder. They seem to be similar in concept. I personally love Becca, but find it to be very shimmery at times. Guess I’m a little heavy handed at times. Lol

5 things I’ve been loving lately
-ALEVE. Back pain sucks. Scoliosis sucks.
-Covergirl Outlast 3-in-1 foundation. I’m a total foundation snob, but this stuff is some kind of amazing.
-Benefit brow bar at Ulta! Ahhhh I just got mine done last week and they look amazing.
-Cashmere sweaters from thrift stores. It’s getting cold over here and I’ve broken out most of my cashmere stockpile. I’ve never paid over $20 for cashmere. Goodwill is your friend.
-Play! by Sephora. Okay, technically I haven’t loved it yet, but I just subscribed today. I’M SO EXCITED.

Ooh hmm
1) Burberry Brit, I can’t get enough of that scent right now, so sweet and tart at the same time!
2) Dr Jart Ceramidin Gel Cream, it’s a really funky weird texture, but melts into my skin beautifully, I just turned 30 and am trying to be a little proactive.
3) Guerlain Meteorites Base, smells like the yummy violet candies and leaves my skin perfect for foundation, the shimmer is barely detectible but does show through.
4) Bubble baths with my bath pillow, a candle, and my kindle or iphone in a ziplock bag.
5) Project 7 Summer Snow and Birthday Cake gourmet gums. These are the best chewing gums ever.

Hi Karen! I always enjoy reading these kind of lists; they make me happy!
The five things I’ve been loving lately are:
1. NYX matte lipstick “Aria”; I’d say the color is a cross between raspberry & cranberry.
2. Essie’s “Flowerista” nail polish. I picked it up on clearance back in November & have been wearing it on my toenails ever since.
3. Tony’s Coffee “Espresso Classico”: I make my coffee in a French press & I love how strong & smooth this blend is. As my niece tells me, “Coffee makes you happy-happy!”
4. A new (to me) author, Robert Montanari, who writes a police procedural/thriller series set in Pittsburgh.
5. My reheatable rice pack: I suffer from neck & shoulder pain & the heat helps relax the muscles.
I took a field trip to Sephora a couple weeks ago & discovered MUFE. I think I swatched most of the shadows & fell in lurve with ME302, the metallic peacock shade. OMG. I’m obsessed with that color! I haven’t purchased it yet but I’ve scoured your archived blogs for reviews of MUFE. Hopefully, I can treat myself to a palette later in the year.
Hope you’re relaxing as much as possible! I’m headed out to meet a friend for a drink; a rare night out for both of us.

I love watching your videos, and now I have a new YouTuber to watch too! Yay!
My five things…
1. Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Moonstone – This gold is such a pretty color! I got the small tube at Ulta or Sephora, don’t remember which, and this is such a perfect cheek highlighter, I love a bit at the inner eyes too. Doesn’t break me out or look too over the top.
2. Not Your Mother’s hair products – I picked up a number of these at Ulta and my hair looks really nice! I have the Plump for Joy shampoo and conditioner and the Way to Grow leave-in conditioner, and it made my hair look smooth, not flat moisturized, etc. I also picked up the Way to Grow shampoo and conditioner to rotate. Super nice!
3. Excipial 20% Urea Intensive Healing Cream – This makes my feet so soft!
4. CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream Serum – This has retinol, so not good for you while you’re growing a human, but it really smooths out the texture of my skin.
5. Babelash Eyelash Serum – Stupid product name, but this really did make my eyelashes longer!
Lauren says
You look gorgeous in teal!
5 Things:
1) Pacifica Sea Foam Cleanser…bought at Whole foods, and it REMOVED MY WATERPROOF MASCARA!
2) the nights if and when I can get sleep (Karen, I know you understand!) I just get bad insomnia in the winter ehich seems so opposite of the hibernation months!
3) fleece lined yoga pants by Lululemon. They’re called run swiftly pants, have so many cool pockets for keys, phone, ipods, etc. Very costly, but I walk A LOT every day.
4) BECCA Backlight Primer. Just leaves a beautiful, youthful glow
5) Friends. I mean the ones that you may never see daiky, but are there when you really need them, no questions asked. I finally found that friend this week.
Happy weekend!!

the 5 things i’ve been loving as of late:
• Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children – i picked this up during black friday & i finally got around to reading it. i’m only halfway through, but it’s really intriguing. not gonna lie, the photos included kinda creep me out a bit. something about black & white photos of people from back in the day .

• Nude Skincare Purify Toning Water – this is one of the products i bought with the $50 GC i won from you . love how gentle it is for me, despite being targeted for those with oily skin. it’s alcohol free, which is a huge plus for me !
• Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water (Waterproof, Blue Cap) – holy moly ! i just bought this yesterday morning (saturday) & i’m blown away by how well this removed my liquid lipsticks . i can legit remove my lipstick with 2 swipes on each lip . no hard scrubbing . it literally just wipes it away . same goes with my eye makeup . it just melts the makeup & wipes away with ease . no gross residue left over . it’s AMAZING !
• John Mayer “Gravity” (Live) – fell in love with song after watching a dance group called Choreo Cookies:
