Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! Rise and shine, pal o’ mine. Happy Caturday!

Question for you: when will it stop raining? That’s what I’d like to know. We’ve gotten so much rain this week that the neighborhood is greener than I’ve seen it in years. There’s stuff blooming out there that doesn’t usually bloom here, like, get this: about a month ago I was about to throw out a few potatoes that had started to sprout in their bag in the kitchen, but El Hub said, “No! I want to plant them outside…”

And, you know, that was weird, but boys will be boys, so I said “Um…OK?”

Anyway, he took them outside and buried them somewhere…

I come to find out yesterday that they’re growing huge! So now we have potatoes growing in our front yard. If this had been another year, like last year, I don’t think that would have happened, because I can’t remember it raining once all through last February or March.

In other news, Happy St. Patrick’s Day week! πŸ™‚ Will you be having green beer? If you are, please have a sip for Connor Claire, who happens to be one eighth Irish.

      Hi Karen,
I’m so happy I’ve found your blog! I enjoy reading it and love your web designs too! I happen to be a cat lover and love, love, love makeup. I can’t go anywhere without eye makeup (shadow, liner and mascara). The other thing I can’t live without is pineapple! It’s so delicious, but it’s also good for you. Well, I have to tell you this is the very first comment I’ve ever done. So, I hope you pick me to win the Sephora gift card. It happens to be my favorite cosmetics store. Thanks again for your fabulous blog!

Unfortunately I sit more at my job, so I have to find excuses to get up and get moving. Some days I’m more successful than others.

As for daily beauty routine, I have to exfoliate and condition my lips – I just can’t tolerate having a bumpy or dry pout, it drives me crazy.

  21. buckycatt says:

K, T & CC – Lately I have been on a lip product buying tear. I bought several MAC, UDK Gwen & have almost completed my Nars Audacious collection! My current fav of all is MAC’s D for Danger. It is gorgeous w my fair skin tone. Have a super wknd w El Dad πŸ˜‰

  22. Judy h says:

I live in northwest Washington rain is something that I just have gotten used to over this past year. The wind though, that’s another story. I live on an island and the winds can get up to 75 mph! Trees being knocked over or branches being torn off is becoming a regular thing I’ve gotten used to.

  23. Nicole says:

I love pineapple! When I went to the Philippines a few years back, that was like the default drink or something lol. That’s all they would serve. When I went back home, I had a huge craving for pineapple juice. Pineapple itself, I’m in a love-hate relationship with. I love the taste but I hate that stingy feeling on my tongue afterwards.

  34. Joni Corak says:

Happy St. Patrick’s day to you, Connor Claire and El Hub!! πŸ€

I am fairly certain that absolutely nothing about me is symmetrical, which is a shame because I’m very big on symmetry in other aspects of life. The one beauty related thing I can’t not do goes with an obvious activity: washing my face. Of course that happens every day, but my absolute favorite thing is post-wash, when I get to use toner. I have Thayer’s rose water witch hazel, and it’s my favorite thing in the world. So gentle, so soothing, and it smells SO absolutely amazing. I think I would bathe in it if I could! πŸ™‚

p.s. interns are great! nice job on the recruitment!

  35. Michelle says:

Normally my job is a sitting job. However, thanks to a friend and colleague, she changed out department from a sitting one to a standing one my making her own standing station for her desk. It’s shifted our department to a sitting/standing one and also impacted out administrator and out nursed to do the same. πŸ™‚

  36. Katrina says:

No, I do not like to be the center of attention. Even at my wedding I opted for an outdoor immediate family only gathering so I didn’t have to walk down the church aisle with all those eyes on me – eek!

  37. Nicole Anderson says:

I actually walk all night long I’m a cocktail waitress in vegas so non stop walking xoxo

  38. I hate being the center of attention so much the idea of getting married (not marriage, to be clear, but the actual wedding part) gives me the heebie-jeebies. Can you ask people to busy themselves with their phones when you walk down the aisle?

My skin has decided to become dry again πŸ™ Since it has been oily the last couple years, I don’t have any foundations in winter shades that work on me. I was so disappointed by the ABH glow kits that I’m going to return both and maybe pick up the MUFE stick foundation this weekend.

Also, I hate pineapple and mango! I grew up on an island too πŸ˜€

  44. Tatiana says:

I’m loving this rain. Although the peninsula hasn’t been getting as much as the north bay, so I understand you being tired of it. I hope you and Connor Claire and dry, warm and snug.
I keep forgetting to cut up and bury my left over potatoes. The plants are really pretty when they sprout and I do love a good, fresh, baby potato. You can also sprout green onions and garlic from your root trimmings, if you’re into gardening.
After being out of work since Christmas, Dear Husband started a new job yesterday. Hurrah! It means I can breathe a little easier. I’ve been good and haven’t shopped since Christmas. Since I’ve been shopping my stash these past two months, I don’t even feel the need to buy anything new.

Hello and Happy Saturday Karen, El Hub, Connor and Mr. Tabs.

It hasn’t rained a bit here in Arizona , but it always looks like it wants to. We’ve had some pretty cloud filled days , but no rain.

Have you ever played with a yo-yo?

Yes I have. But I seem to be a pro at getting it to go down , but never up.

    Do you like pineapple?

I sure do, but if I eat too much the roof of my mouth does this strange thing (it gets really raw).

    Are your brows symmetrical?

I wish. From afar they may look pretty much identical , but up close I can definitely tell that one of them is being unruly.

Do you like to be the center of attention?

No. I’m an introvert and I’d much rather blend in than stand out.

I am not a big fruit eater but pineapple is one of my favorites. I also love cantaloupe but for the past year or 2 I haven’t been able to get a good one. Love pineapple. But can’t eat it since it hurts my stomach too much. I hope you and baby girl are doing great.

  135. Rachel says:

  136. Mel says:

My eyebrows used to be more symmetrical when I was younger but changing eyebrow ladies over the years they have morphed into ugly stepsisters πŸ™ they’re bold too so it’s noticeable my goal in life is to get an appointment at Anastasia herself because they’re my most pronounced feature on my face and they deserve it πŸ˜‚ congrats on your daughter Connor she is precious

  161. Tracy Robertson says:

I’m in San Mateo so the weather is pretty similar to Novoto, though I saw on the news you got even more rain than we did last week! I love the rain when I’m cozy inside and I never get tired of it, especially our Bay Area rain that often comes with comfortable temps in the 60’s. I’m not thrilled when I have to drive to work in it though, and the defroster in my car isn’t working and I can’t afford to fix it right now. So I keep the window open and have a dishtowel to wipe the window in the front seat when it starts to fog up.

I started going to a beauty salon, but didn’t like the result at all + the women who did my eyebrows was very rude and I had to wait for her even though I had appointments and was there on time. My brows! Always on my mind. Never symmetrical as my eyes aren’t either. When I had my makeup done for the college graduation portrait, the artist took a razor to it and evened everything out which looks great when you put makeup on. There isn’t much that will grow on my balcony, which gets about an hour of early morning direct sun a day — nice for sitting in the shade, not so good for growing plants — but lettuce does beautifully.
