Top o’ the mornin’ to ya! Rise and shine, pal o’ mine. Happy Caturday!

Question for you: when will it stop raining? That’s what I’d like to know. We’ve gotten so much rain this week that the neighborhood is greener than I’ve seen it in years. There’s stuff blooming out there that doesn’t usually bloom here, like, get this: about a month ago I was about to throw out a few potatoes that had started to sprout in their bag in the kitchen, but El Hub said, “No! I want to plant them outside…”

And, you know, that was weird, but boys will be boys, so I said “Um…OK?”

Anyway, he took them outside and buried them somewhere…

I come to find out yesterday that they’re growing huge! So now we have potatoes growing in our front yard. If this had been another year, like last year, I don’t think that would have happened, because I can’t remember it raining once all through last February or March.

In other news, Happy St. Patrick’s Day week! πŸ™‚ Will you be having green beer? If you are, please have a sip for Connor Claire, who happens to be one eighth Irish.

      Hi Karen,
I’m so happy I’ve found your blog! I enjoy reading it and love your web designs too! I happen to be a cat lover and love, love, love makeup. I can’t go anywhere without eye makeup (shadow, liner and mascara). The other thing I can’t live without is pineapple! It’s so delicious, but it’s also good for you. Well, I have to tell you this is the very first comment I’ve ever done. So, I hope you pick me to win the Sephora gift card. It happens to be my favorite cosmetics store. Thanks again for your fabulous blog!

When I went back home, I had a huge craving for pineapple juice. Pineapple itself, I’m in a love-hate relationship with. I love the taste but I hate that stingy feeling on my tongue afterwards.

I am fairly certain that absolutely nothing about me is symmetrical, which is a shame because I’m very big on symmetry in other aspects of life. The one beauty related thing I can’t not do goes with an obvious activity: washing my face. Of course that happens every day, but my absolute favorite thing is post-wash, when I get to use toner. I have Thayer’s rose water witch hazel, and it’s my favorite thing in the world. So gentle, so soothing, and it smells SO absolutely amazing. I think I would bathe in it if I could! πŸ™‚

I keep forgetting to cut up and bury my left over potatoes. The plants are really pretty when they sprout and I do love a good, fresh, baby potato. You can also sprout green onions and garlic from your root trimmings, if you’re into gardening.
After being out of work since Christmas, Dear Husband started a new job yesterday. Hurrah! It means I can breathe a little easier. I’ve been good and haven’t shopped since Christmas. Since I’ve been shopping my stash these past two months, I don’t even feel the need to buy anything new.

I have several products from the Rainforest of the Sea line and I’m crazy about them. The “Drink of H20” moisturizer is a godsend for dry skin; it is the most refreshing moisturizer I have ever used. I have not been disappointed with anything in the line. The Double-Duty line I’m going to pick up when they are in-stores in a couple of days, and I’m really excited to try the gel hybrid foundation in particular. So far the Rainforest collection has been one of my favorite makeup collections ever!

And I LOVE pineapple, but it has to be fresh and by itself (not in stir fry, on a pizza, in a salad, etc).

Hello and Happy Saturday Karen, El Hub, Connor and Mr. Tabs.

It hasn’t rained a bit here in Arizona , but it always looks like it wants to. We’ve had some pretty cloud filled days , but no rain.

Have you ever played with a yo-yo?

Yes I have. But I seem to be a pro at getting it to go down , but never up.

    Do you like pineapple?

I sure do, but if I eat too much the roof of my mouth does this strange thing (it gets really raw).

    Are your brows symmetrical?

I wish. From afar they may look pretty much identical , but up close I can definitely tell that one of them is being unruly.

Do you like to be the center of attention?

No. I’m an introvert and I’d much rather blend in than stand out.

What’s a beauty related task you absolutely have to do every day?

    Take a shower.

I love the rain when I’m cozy inside and I never get tired of it, especially our Bay Area rain that often comes with comfortable temps in the 60’s. I’m not thrilled when I have to drive to work in it though, and the defroster in my car isn’t working and I can’t afford to fix it right now. So I keep the window open and have a dishtowel to wipe the window in the front seat when it starts to fog up.

Have you ever played with a yo-yo? Yes, as a child. I could do walk-the-dog, but that was the only trick.

Which do you do more in your job, sit or stand? Sit, by far. But I have bad knees, so that’s okay. I do wish they’d invent a practical bike desk though.

    Do you like pineapple? Nope.

    Are your brows symmetrical? Yep.

Do you like to be the center of attention? Nope!

What’s a beauty related task you absolutely have to do every day? Put chapstick on before bed.

I want to do it pre-labor so I dont have to worry about how albino I look. Those pics taken in the hospital last forever! Lol. Don’t know if that will happen before birth. My brows! Always on my mind. Never symmetrical as my eyes aren’t either. When I had my makeup done for the college graduation portrait, the artist took a razor to it and evened everything out which looks great when you put makeup on. Once the brow products were off, I had one thin brow and one super thin brow half the width of the other. To this day, I ask: what am I really supposed to do?

Happy potato plants! I hear the leaves are pretty πŸ™‚

There isn’t much that will grow on my balcony, which gets about an hour of early morning direct sun a day — nice for sitting in the shade, not so good for growing plants — but lettuce does beautifully. My local food co-op was selling big cut-and-come-again mixed lettuce planters this week, so I’ve got a big bowl of lettuce growing on my balcony, and we’ve had two salads from it already! Definitely makes me feel like spring.

I went through a phase where I collected Duncan yo-yos when I was nine, but I don’t recall being very good with them. I just ended up with a lot of yo-yos.

Which do you do more in your job, sit or stand?

Oh my, green beer! I’ve never had any. Does anyone know if it leaves your mouth green? Just wondering.

No, my brows are not symmetrical. It really bothers me. Also I can never get it right with brow powder. I tried those stencils, but they just make me look weird. My brows are too thin too. I hope to have this problem solved. If anyone is adept at filling g in brows with makeup. That would be a great post! Hint, hint!!!

This weekend I was very happy to see actual buds with a little green showing on my lilacs, and the tulips are starting to poke up. Last year at this time everything was still covered with several feet of snow. I don’t think we saw the bare ground from Thanksgiving until late April. I like this year’s winter much more than last.

There’s just one beauty-related task that I must not forget to do every freakin’ day, and that’s to put a cold mask over my eyes (and eyebags), to keep the dark circles away. Coz I can have a pimple and still look gorgeous. But, eyebags really ruin my face. Even concealers and high-end foundations can’t hide ’em.

Hi there! I’m Karen, your friendly neighborhood beauty addict, and I’m a Bay Area girl who hoards brown eyeshadow and covets coral lipstick. Every morning, I wake up and say, “I’m going to do something other than a smoky eye today.” Then…I end up doing a smoky eye anyway (most days). When I’m not putting on makeup, taking pictures of makeup or writing about makeup, you’ll find me hanging out with my hubby (“El Hub”), my two-year-old daughter (Connor Claire) and my cat (Tabs).
