hey karen,

my favorite dance has got to be american foxtrot (otherwise known as international slowfox) for smooth/modern dancing, rumba and bolero for slow latin dancing, and bronx mambo (dance on two, not one), jive, and disco hustle for fast latin/rhythm dancing... BUT REALLY I LOVE ALL TWENTY OR SO DANCES I REALLY LOVE.

if you found ballroom challenging, you might want to start with club latin (salsa, merengue, bachata, lambada, zouk, calypso - all of which i LOVE LOVE LOVE) or concentrate on one dance that makes you work on basic skills (argentine tango is best for this, it works on posture, footwork, balance, EVERYTHING).

i did hip hop for years before but it was ballroom that got me obssessed with dancing.

i guess my makeup budget is small because i'm constantly buying dance clothes. those performance outfits really break the bank, especially for a university student! however, they do make you feel like a princess, if you're dancing the waltz in a floaty ballgown. the flashier they are, the better i like them!

you and el hub should totally take up ballroom or club latin, i totally recommend it. if you want really spicy and romantic i recommend argentine tango (NOT ballroom tango) for almost violent intensity, bachata for sensuality and lambada because it's the original "dirty" dance! foxtrot, however, wins the vote for floating, elegant, smooth, i'm a "cool cat" kind of styling.

since you hip hop dance, i'm sure the club latin/rhythm dances will be no problem for you (you just may need time to work on your frame/posture - i ranted about posture in the monday quiz post a week ago, ha ha). damn, if you lived in montreal i would hook you up with a discount for club latin lessons, because i teach it too.

sometimes you can totally beat people in hip hop battles by pulling out some salsa move you know the other person can't copy - i've done this numerous times!

happy dancing (and happy adoption of tabs) :D

Yeah, Main Street is especially good that way!

Of course you don't have to have kids! There are always a few tables with only adults and others populated with teenagers! It's really a lot of fun and the buffet is worth the price of admission!

Hi Glosslizard,

How fun! I bet the kids really love it and totally look forward to it every year. Do you have to have kids to get in? I wonder if El Hub would count. :)

There's something really special about Disney traditions. When we go El Hub always start off the first day by eating breakfast on Main Street. The food is pretty good, but most of all I love watching the kids walk down into the park and seeing the excited looks on their faces.
