You know what they say: “You haven’t truly lived until you’ve worn a pair of mint green shorts with pink flamingos on the butt.”
Uh…I’m sure someone said that, right?
Babe, $10 shorts from Old Navy! I almost did a cartwheel in the store when I stumbled on these last night.
Ah, yes…this is one of those times when I realize just how much I am my mother’s daughter, because of how excited I get about a good sale, which reminds me, I need to call and tell her about this sale!
Before I went down there yesterday, I checked the website and saw that they had shorts on sale for $8-15.
Sweet! I thought, but I wanted to try them on in the store to make sure about the fit and colors.
I’ve purchased stuff online from Old Navy before, and the experience has always been a little hit or miss. The sizing’s inconsistent. I can try on three different pairs of pants in the same size, and each one will fit a little differently. I seem to have better luck in the stores, so nowadays I just brave the chaos (does anyone else get overstimulated at Old Navy?), and try stuff on.
I expected to snag one or two pairs for $15 each, but when I rolled in, there were signs all over the place saying $10 sale on all shorts. They had a TON of different styles, too. Denim, twill, solids, prints, casual and dressy in a variety of lengths.
I tried the 3″, 3 1/2″, 5″ and 11 1/2″ lengths and liked the 3″ ones the most. I’m not very tall — actually, I’m short — and the other lengths made me feel, um, shorter.
My faves are the mint green pair with embroidered pink flamingos. Very Golden Girls meets Gwen Stefani, yeah? I now realize that I’ve had a huge gaping hole in my life that desperately needed to be filled with more pink flamingos.
Of course I love the ice cream truck colors, but the store had a lot of more conservative colors, too, like tan, khaki and black, if mint green and pink flamingos aren’t your thing.
The checkout guy said that the sale was going on at all the Old Navy stores, but you might want to call yours before heading down there. I’m not sure how long the sale lasts, so if you need pairs of $10 shorts in your life, better act fast.
