A 15-minute drive south from where I live in Novato there’s a small park around the corner from the Village Mall in Corte Madera with a marsh and views of the San Francisco Bay and the East Bay hills (where my parents live).
I stopped by earlier today to get a look at the water because, as the saying goes ’round here, any day you see the Bay is a great day.
Or maybe that’s just a Karen thing. 🙂
Don’t tell Tabs, but while I was down there I made friends with a tiny dog…or perhaps it was an Ewok.
When the Ewok dog bid me farewell, I headed over to the nearby mall, where among other things, I visited the Kate Spade store and spotted some cute new spring bags and shoes.
Yeah, it’s hard to compete with the epic grandeur and sweeping vistas of the San Francisco Bay, but Kate Spade holds her own, and today she did it with comics! And bright colors! And shiny patent leather!
I’m pretty sure my eyes were bugging out TO HERE!
When I asked what was new for spring, the gals working at the store were nice enough to let me see a few items from a new collection that they hadn’t put out on the shelves yet. They said the new collection doesn’t “officially” debut in Kate Spade stores and on katespade.com until next Sunday, so this was like a sneak peek.
The release includes a full range of accessories, totes, clothes and shoes made to go with the playful, pop-arty comic theme.
Three of the smaller bags caught my eye right off the bat — the hot pink and white polka-dotted Daycation Pop Bag ($78), the Davie Daycation Comic KSNY zippered makeup bag ($60) and the Sunglass Coin Purse ($98).
Because I’m such a ho when it comes to shoes, it didn’t take much to convince me to try on this pair of jade green patent-leather Karolina heels ($328).
Solely (no pun intended) for “research purposes,” of course. 🙂
Comfy? Well, for three-inch heels, yeah, pretty comfy. The heels felt stable and didn’t wobble, either, and the rounded toe shape at the front didn’t pinch my feet.
One of the sales gals said that she wears them for nine hours straight without any problems, but I dunno… I had a feeling she sensed that I was easy prey and was going for the kill.
Unfortunately, I don’t have room for them in my budget right now (*sniffs*), so I walked away.
I figure, if I’m still thinking/dreaming about them in a month, I’ll try to find them on sale somewhere. In the meantime, I’m going to…
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen
P.S. If you’re feeling antsy and can’t wait ’til Sunday, Nordstrom already has some items in-store and quite a few pieces from the new collection online at nordstrom.com.

Oh lawwd those shoes!! I want! <3
Lol at the sales associate. I'm with you this one K, that she's going for the kill. I mean, 9 hours?! Not even with Dr. Scholls! 😉
Karen says
Hi Sillylilacs,
Guess what? If you like these shoes they also come in pink. 🙂
sillylilacs says
Oh the pink sounds lovely too. I think my weakness is mint greens right now though haha 😀
Sam says
When I was a sales associate at a shoe store I used to wear 3 inch heels nearly every day – for 8 hours of climbing around stock rooms, kneeling, climbing ladders etc. She probably wasn’t exaggerating – her feet are just trained.
Pink would kill me in those shoes – glad only the green was pictured! 🙂
Karen says
Hi Sam,
They’re a pale pink and super cute.
Where did you work as a sales associate?
Chelsea says
The little Ewok Dog is so cute! I love its vest! I love meeting new animal pals.
I can see wearing those for 9 hours, I used to be able to do that – I was a heel fanatic back in the day, 3 inches would have been nothing. But you may also have been easy prey, so maybe it was a combination?
Karen says
Hi Chelsea,
It probably was, LOL! I may have to go back and visit with those heels very soon.
How was the masquerade party? Did you have fun?
Heidi says
Oh, that sunglass coin purse — I WANT!
Karen says
Me too. I kinda wish they had one for sunglasses, too!
Agata says
These shoes are fabulous!!
Karen says
Aren’t they? I think I’ll be lusting after them for a while.
How was the NYE party with your friends?

Those shoes just scream spring! They’re shoes you wear to go to High Tea in in my mind. With a big hat. And white gloves too. 🙂
I’m loving that T-shirt!
Karen says
Yes! And with some dainty gold jewelry.
Paris B says
The colour of the shoes is really cute! The design reminds me a little of Ferragamo – must be the bow buckle 😀
Karen says
Hi Paris,
I’m seeing the color pop up all over the place. Seems like it’s going to be popular for spring.
Jac says

Love the shoes! I haven’t bought anything from Kate Spade, but I do like and admire her stuff. It’s classy but fun. I love that yellow t-shirt (yellow is my favorite color). I also enjoy looking at and being near the water – a day out is not complete for me without seeing the Monocacy River or the Potomac River up here in Frederick.
Alice Ann says
I love the color of the shoes, not crazy about the bow, but they look great on. I started my new year by walking around the bay, too! It was a beautiful, clear morning and I was able to see all three bridges from the Emeryville marina. Happy New Year!

I really like your striped sweater. Are you wearing the as seen on tv Trendy Top under your sweater? I have to ask. I have contemplated buying them. You may have no idea what I’m talking about. 🙂
Lorraine V says
True saying! I live in the foggy district of SF where we can’t always see the bay, or much else! Love your outfit- esp the cute sweater!
Barbara says
I love everything about this post!! Your sweater, the little dog, the cute comic bag, the gorgeous shoes – what a fun day! Your blog is the BEST.
Iris says
All those Kate Spade items look so cute. I’ll have to check to see if our local Holt Renfrew has these.
I’d likely not be able to walk in the shoes (I’m a klutz) but they’re lovely and I like the shade.
Happy New Year to you, your husband, and Tabs!
