413 — that’s, like, a pager code, right?
LOL! Oh, puh-leaz! Don’t even pretend like you don’t know what I’m talking about. 🙂 I know you got all smiley and giggly when your crush sent you love emergency pages in the (911 143) middle of the night, circa 1995.
Oh, wait. That was me.
Actually, in this instance, 413 is not in reference to the language of pager love, but rather shorthand for a collection of NARS makeup products called 413 BLKR.
It includes 413 Multiples, Nail Polishes, Eyeshadows, Lipsticks — all manner of cute things.
The numerical nomenclature is a shout-out to the address of the very first NARS boutique, located at 413 Bleecker Street in New York, and the 413 BLKR products were created in the spirit of New York City’s unique energy.
Recently, NARS added two new pieces to the 413 BLKR fam — 413 BLKR Blush ($30) and 413 BLKR Illuminator ($30).
Rosy matte 413 BLKR Blush, an intense rosy pink powder blush, is super smooth and incredibly pigmented. A little goes a long way with this one, so you might want to use a light touch.
Shimmery champagne liquid highlighter 413 BLKR Illuminator looks like it could be frosty, based on how it looks in its tube, but that’s just because it’s fired up about the prospects of getting on skin, where I think it’s actually very subtle and beautiful.
Without a doubt, one could wear any of these pieces separately, but I think they go from good to great when worn together.
The Blush’s richness and intensity get along well with the ethereal Illuminator. Both seem to balance one another.
I like to start by applying the Illuminator on my upper cheekbones, then buff a layer of the blush lightly on top. That way the shimmering champagne peeks through the rosy blush.
Left to my own devices, I would never have thought to wear these two pieces together, but that’s François Nars for ya. He puts seemingly disparate pieces together that, at first glance, may not look like they belong together, but then you start playing with them and exploring, and you realize that they do! It’s genius.
If you’re on the market for a bright, fresh cheek look a little on the bolder side, consider these two. You can find them now exclusively at NARS Boutiques and narscosmetics.com.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

These seem very nice but I don’t think I’d be able to pull the blush off as I might end up overdoing it:/ It reminds me of Apricot from. Bobbi Brown which is just a darker version of my beloved HG Nectar Bobbi Brown blush.

Kamilla says
This is gorgeous! I am very tempted to get the illuminator.
Bella says
Very pretty! Do you think you could get the same effect with Becca Shimmering skin Perfector and the blush? It always irks me when I have to buy two products to make something work optimally.
Nikki says
That 413 BLKR blush is going to be mine!
Jess says
How does this compare to the Hot Sand Illuminator?
Danielle says
I am LOVING both of these products! It’s time like these when I wish I still lived near the Bleecker St. store!

I love the entire 413 BLKR collection. I feel like it is the collection that best suits my personality and style. Naturally both of these are on my list!
Ashleigh says
Holy cow, that blush speaks to me. I can’t get it right now though, is it part of the permanent line?
Iris says
Awesome! I eventually want to get the blush. Like Ashleigh, I’m wondering if the items are permanent.
Erin says
Love these!
Trude says
Sooo pretty on you! Love the combo, I think you’re right about pairing them. And that shade looks pretty darn universal. NARS is one of those lines where I’d be cool if I could only ever use their products. 🙂
Deanna says
You look so pretty in these photos, Karen! I love the eye shadow you’re wearing! 🙂
The blush is looks lovely, but it might be a bit too dark for my fair skin, I’m afraid. I love NARS blushes, though, so I might have to try this one on, just in case!
Sylirael says
The berry pink in that blush is just hypnotic to me. Gorgeous! It would probably be murder to apply on my vampire complexion, but I am on a quest to swatch it when it gets here!

Both of them looks absolutely stunning.. <3

Hi Karen, between Hot Sand and 413 BLKR which one would you recommend for my NC35 skin? I can only get one 🙁
Rhea W. says
Would you say this blush is good for warm (yellow) skin tones? I love purpley/red blush but I’ve got the most yellow that you can have in skin in addition to being very pale (about a NC15). But this… looks so pretty… WANT.

Hi Karen! Requesting review of the newly released Nars contouring blush 🙂 and how does it compare to nars laguna ( as for contouring purposes)
Karen says
Hi Karla!
Here ya go: Chisel Those Cheeks! Contouring Made Easy With the New NARS Contour Blushes.
I have Laguna and have used it for contouring; I think these do a better job of really carving out the cheekbones because 1) they don’t have shimmer and 2) are less warm. Still love Laguna, though, but more for overall warmth. Does that make sense? Let me know if you have any other questions.

I would love to try this blush out but I don’t know if it will go with my skin colour. :/ My Nars Colour is Mont Blanc, so I have a very fair skin colour with pink undertones. Would you recommend this colour for people with fair skin?
