MAC Cosmetics Mineralize Eyeshadow Face of the Day

Published in: Face of the Day (FOTD)

I just realized that I hadn’t shown a picture of my new hairdo. I decided to revert back to my natural hair color for a change, so to speak. What do you think?

I paired my new hair with this very quick face of the day using an old MAC Cosmetics Mineralize eyeshadow duo called Silversmith. Starting with MAC Paint in Shimma on my lid and into the crease, I then dusted a layer of the light blue from Silversmith on top. I lined the upper water line with Lancome Le Stylo Waterproof eyeliner in Noir and lined the lower lash line with the dark blue shade from Silversmith.

Lastly, two coats o’ Chanel Inimitable on my lashes, a light dusting of MAC Select Sheer Loose Powder in NC 30 all over the face, MAC Sunbasque Blush on my cheeks and then topped the look off with Chanel Constellation Glossimer on my lips.

I hope you had a wonderful Thursday! What was the highlight of your day?

  2. Jen says:

    Hey Karen!

Your hair looks beautiful! I was hoping to see your natural color. But I’ve always been jealous of beautiful dark hair, because mine’s naturally a sort of boring dark blonde.

  3. Karen,
You look stunning hun. I am loving dark hair on you, it brings out your features much better, and your eyes look more sparkly. 🙂

I’m staring at them as we speak, they’re so gorgeous!

I knew you looked different even before I read the post! lol… ok I only mention that cuz it’s a rare occurance for me to notice anything on anyone. So consider yourself lucky! 😀 hehe

You look sooooooooooooooooo pretty! I went back to my natural color a couple years ago. Every so often I get an itch to change it up again but I think that dark hair is da bomb diggity, especially with tan skinned peeps. It really does bring out our eyes and features like I<3makeup mentioned!!

You look stunning, you really really do! 😀

  6. Brittany says:

I really like the new hair color. It looks awesome!

The best part of my day: Hanging out with my fiance and our friends after work. We just made dinner, had some drinks, and played some cards. It was just fun and relaxing.

The look is nice too. You look very breezy.

    Hi Jules,

Aww, thanks! I might take the jump again in the future, because I like to change my hair, a lot. 🙂 Do you have short or long hair?

  10. Karen says:

    Hi Iheartmakeup!

OMG – you soooo hauled today! Which one is your fave? I’ll probably be able to wear the same colors you do… *drools* If I get my work at a decent hour tomorrow I’m so hitting up the MAC counter!

  11. Karen says:

    Hi Jen,

Thank you, girlie. I gotta say though, I’m jealous of your blonde hair. That’s a shade I’ll never be able to really get away with… and they do say blondes have more fun! I wish I could find out if that was true (le sigh). Hope you’re having a good night. Are you ready for friday?

  12. Karen says:

    Hi Crystal G.,

🙂 Thank you, sweetie! I’m still trying to get used to it. It’s a bit shocking to see myself in the mirror, to tell you the truth. I haven’t seen my real color in so long, I forgot what it looked like, LOL. Doing anything fun tonight?

  13. Karen says:

    Hi Nosh,

Awww! Thanks. 🙂 The color is still freaking me out a little but I’m starting to “become one with it.” LOL. My stylist said I’d be shocked for about a week. Only six days to go!

What color is your natural color? Don’t you love not dealing with roots?

  14. Karen says:

    Hi Brittany,

🙂 Thank you! Sounds like you had a nice, relaxing evening. I really cherish those evenings when you can just chill, you know? Have a fantastic Friday!

  15. Karen says:

    Hi Bridget,

I remember that blanket! That’s the one you’ve been crocheting for forever, right? How does it look? I bet it’s beautiful.

  16. Karen says:

    Hi KK,

NICE!!! Those gap sales are awesome, especially when you can find stuff in your size! WooT! What does it look like?

I gotta say I am not jealous of your root canal. Do they knock you out when they do it?

  20. Lilan says:

I love the natural hair color! I was so glad when I did that to my own locks late last year – it’s so much more manageable, ya?

I love the mineralized look too! Super soft 🙂

My Thursday’s been slow and a little unproductive but I hope yours ended up well!

  21. Miss QQ says:

Yay you look great. I envy your hair and it kind of makes me miss my long hair. Your natural hair color is so nice too – black? Mine is dark brown-black. Yes it was very liberating when I chopped off my hair. When I carry my bags, mostly shoulder bags, the straps won’t rest on and tug at my hair anymore! Freedom from pain!

  22. lindsay says:

I love your new hair! Now that it’s summer I’ve been noticing that my hair is more brown..guess it must be the sun! anyway, I love your eye makeup!
highlight of my day: having the time to tan and swim!

  23. Anna says:

I’m so looking forward to getting my MAC blush next week, but for now good food and plays await me! 🙂

    Have a wonderful Friday!

  31. Roxy says:

I cut my hair about a month ago? I’m kind of skeptical about hair salons here in Tucson, so when I went to visit my family I went to my faaavorite salon back in Hawaii. My hair was halfway down my back and I cut it down to a super short [for me!] bob! I hated it at first but I think it’s growing on me lol

    Happy Friday!

This is going to be a long comment since I’ll be replying to three comments of yours 😀

Ooh, this is even better than with the highlights! Very nice 🙂 I know what you mean, every time I have highlights my hair seems very dry even after conditioning and hair masks. Sometimes you’re just better off without. 🙂

About the orange.. well, peach is my muted orange but having seen the vivid orange on you I’d like to be able to use something a *tad* bit more powerful 😀 Well I do own MAC’s Slimshine in Funshine which is a vivid orange on me so maybe that is a good start, haha.

I wouldn’t call your language skills restricted at all! Knowing even the basics of two languages is a great start and what’s better than insulting people in a weird language (most of them) they don’t understand..! *evil grin* LOL! I love listening to French, be it on TV or music. I started learning English at the age of 9 (3rd grade) and Swedish at 13 (7th) which was the crucial age, after that I haven’t been able to learn anything well in terms of foreign languages. Nevertheless, I guess one could learn anything if one had enough motivation and time.. 🙂 I was pretty stressed out in Stockholm too, since I suck at speaking the language, I’m better at understanding and writing. What’s more, the natives speak it so fast that I lose track very easily, haha.

Thanks for the tip with the Ivory shade! Will try that one. It helped with Sumptuous Olive so maybe it’s the same with this one, too 😉 Remember to tell us how you liked the palette once you’ve tried it! I haven’t used it for a while despite it being so pretty.. 😛

I should’ve hit the salon up a while ago already, which is weird since normally I get my roots done every third month but now they look awful only after less than two months.. I can’t exactly afford going there every month, lol. And there’s no way I’ll keep my own colour which is a common colour for Finns: natural dirty/ashy blonde. I look a lot better in golden blonde. ;P But I have to go there very soon!

And hey thanks for the pancake rec! I’ve been wanting to visit Hawaii since elementary school but whenever I’ll be going I’m sure to ask you about the pancake place 😀 They sound heavenly delicious!

Oh, and if I may ask: how did you and El Hub meet? I’m really happy to read about love stories in this world where most relationships last no longer than a few months. I’m still waiting for The One and these happy stories give me hope 🙂

What are you up to this weekend? I think I need to clean my room, it’s a real mess, ha! Other than that no plans 🙂 Have a good one!

    Dear Karen,
Yours is a very striking look and natural, too. Of course, I would love to have my natural black hair back again. But alas, it is all silver underneath the dye. Now I am blonde and it keeps the maintenance low. I keep threatening Dear Hubby that I am going to let it grow out because of the money that I would save, but he is not ready to “be with” an old lady, yet. hahahahaha. I’ll bet that you would look great with coral colors, given your skin tone. Try NARS Cactus Flower blush and Chanel Rich Coral lippie or the Big Bang glossimer. I could just see you now. . . . . Louise

  36. Friska says:

Karen, you look sooooooooooooooooooo pretty. I love the looks 🙂

  37. Karen says:

    Hi Jana,

Thank you! 🙂 I know you guys have to wait a bit longer to get your MAC on, but look on the bright side — at least it gets there.

Tea with the BFF sounds like a blast. Don’t you love all those cutesy little sandwiches and desserts? They certainly don’t fill you up, though. I went with my friends to tea before and afterwards there was macdonald’s stop, LOL.

What lipgloss did you end up getting?

  38. Karen says:

    Hi Lilan,

Yes it is. I’ll keep it this way until I get tired of it. Hair is for changin’, I say.

    Have a good weekend!

  39. Karen says:

    Hi Miss QQ,

Yup, it’s really dark brown and almost black. Does yours get lighter in the summer?

LOL, I know the hair-caught-in-the-strap feeling so well. But I guess that’s what ponytails are for. 🙂

Hope your weekend is off to a great start!

  40. Karen says:

    Hi Lindsay,

How fun! I am jealous that you get to swim; it’s been too cold here for the pool so I’m all up in my house wearing sweats and socks. 🙂

Got any big plans for the weekend?

  41. Karen says:

    Hi Anna,

Aww, thanks my dear. Is your brown/black hair your natural hair color?

  42. Karen says:

    Hi Laurie,

Thank you! 🙂 I’m going to be happy to be free from seeing roots, LOL.

  43. Karen says:

    Hi Tiffany,

Ahhh, I love those TV marathons on the couch. Aren’t they totally relaxing? I did that last weekend with old black and white movies on TMC. I’ve never seen House before, as my TV is taste is shockingly bad, I can’t lie. I’ll watch all the crap on MTV and then some.

    Have a good weekend!

  44. Karen says:

    Hi Amanda,

Thanks! How have you been? I hope things are good. 🙂

  45. Karen says:

    Hi Tammy,

OMG! I never imagined Edward to look like that, either. All I have to say is that movie better be good or all the fans are going to go RABID!

I loved having highlights, but hated looking at my roots. What color highlights did you go with?

  46. Karen says:

    Hi Glosslizard,

How exciting! What did you watch today? And did you eat anything good? I had some Taco Hell for lunch (bluh, Aunt Flo is coming to visit and I’m eating a TON OF CRAP); it was a little depressing.

  47. Karen says:

    Hi Roxy,

Dunno if I asked you this, but what island are you from?

Bobs can be high maintenance, especially if they’re shorter and your hair grows fast. If you need somebody in your town one good resource is yelp. It’s a site where local folks review restaurants, salons, etc. It’s helpful if you’re in a new town, especially.

  48. Tiffany says:

Hey girl! I am totally with you on the bad tv front. I love the hills, and usually real world, although this season really isn’t captivating me.

Hope you have a great weekend as well!

  49. Chamayne says:

Love,Love,Love the hair. Oh and inimitable (you inquired about my feelings for it) is a love, hate, in love to the max mascara for me. Initially I thought it was all I’d ever need but then I kinda felt like they gave me librarian (no offense librarians) eye lashes when I wanted saucy vixen so I laid off of it. However with my discovery of the one coat Definicils with one coat Inimitable duo, I have found nirvana. Btw, did I tell you how much I love the hair!
