Oh, that trip to Sephora the other day with all the dudes milling about? I forgot to mention that I didn’t leave the store empty handed.
Nope. I walked out of there with a scribe…
Scribe? The white liquid liner from Illamasqua?
From the makers of White-Out correction fluid, LOL! No, no, but it looks a little like that, doesn’t it?
I picked it up because of that speckled cat eye look Illamasqua did for their spring 2013 Imperfection collection. Ever since I saw that promo pic, I’ve been obsessed with the idea of dotted cat eyes with black and white…
This afternoon I decided to give it a try, and the first thing I did was line my upper lash lines with MAC Blacktrack Fluidline, because I wanted something with a matte finish to contrast with the liquid liner’s shine.
Then, I did the white dots using Illamasqua Scribe, and finished with some black dots using Milani’s new Ultrafine Liquid Eye Liner in Black Vinyl.
Give it a try! — and if you do, um, save your mascara for the very last step. I made the mistake of doing my dots last and ended up with white liner all over my mascara…
Yup, hot mess.
I was already wearing two coats of Chanel Le Volume and didn’t want to make matters worse, so to clean up the white on my lashes, I painted over it with the black Milani liquid liner I used for the dots (Black Vinyl).
I think it turned out okay, although I do feel like the look needs false lashes.
Next time! 🙂

For when you need your next Channing fix: 10 Years
Sadly, he keeps his clothes on throughout the film (boo!), but that doesn’t hold it back at all. 🙂
The movie’s about a group of high school friends returning to their hometown for their 10-year reunion, where drama ensues… Yeah, it’s one of those films, but it’s funny, too! It has just enough depth and some interesting characters, played by Channing (we’re on a first name basis now), Rosario Dawson, Kate Mara, Max Minghella, Justin Long, Anthony Mackie, Chris Pratt and a bunch of other people, and it almost — almost — makes me want to go to my next high school reunion. Almost.
Would you believe that my 20th is this year…?
I am so not ready for that jelly.
Hope you had a good one today. Onward to Wednesday.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

Eee! This look is so much fun, Karen 😀 I’ve seen a couple renditions if Illamasqua’s speckled eyeliner, but I think this is my favourite blogger version of it — very sharp and distinct.
Olivia says
Love that! May go play with it now…
Bernice says
You’re so beautiful and creative!

You’ve done that so well, and while I would never wear it myself you’re totally rocking it!!
I ADORE your lip and cheek colours though….going to have to hunt those down since we have fairly similar skintones.
Meghan says
Wow! You did a fantastic job! I love it! I’ll have to give this a try for a night out soon! :]

Did it take you a long time to accomplish this look? Love the MUFE lippie:)
Marla says
Wow, you did an amazing job!
Becca @ The Beauty Sample says
Oh wow weird–for some reason I had thought that the image was from a Chanel campaign or something because the model looks like Jac, the one Chanel always uses for their beauty campaigns. I also thought the white dots were little rhinestone chips or something, so it all looked very chic to me, like something Chanel might do. Of course, the look is still incredible–you did an amazing job! It looks just like in the picture! 🙂
Sunny says
This is HOOOOOOT on you!!! So so dramatic yet wearable in a strange way!
melanie says
Eyeliner?! I thought you were wearing intricate little rhinestones or something. Excuse me while I go put on my dunce hat (awesome job, I love it!)
Jennifer says
I definitely agree that you need some falsies to pump up the lashes! Looks cute though!
Claire // TRAINCA.SE says
Ah,I did not know that Illamasqua made a white liner! Brb making sure we absolutely get this on our site!
Kim says
That look is shrieking “amazing!”. I’m blown away that you did this. Not that I didn’t think you could, just that’s it’s the coolest thing ever. 🙂 False lashes would totally rock but this is so awesome as it is. Great job!!!
Alison M says
You tried the Illamasqua look! I love how it turned out. And you unintentionally led me to a fantastic pink lipstick. I’ve been trying to find a pink that isn’t so bold but still works with medium-deep skin and I think this is it. Can’t wait to try it! I’ve also been inspired to work on my cat eye lining skills. It’s slow going, but I WILL get there 🙂
hanna says
It looks so beautiful. I’m surprised how well it turned out.
Chris El says
This looked like fun to create and it looks amazing on you!
Katherine G says
Your liner looks amazing! It looks fun, yet classy. You pull off the runway-esque looks very very well. I’m loving these new trends coming out for spring. You are beautiful, but also accessible to the everyday woman, and you make me want to try some new and different things with my makeup!
Lorraine says
Loving your look better than the Llamasqua campaign one. This really pops against your skintone, and the lippie and blush balance it perfectly. You rock this one!
Lorraine says
PS your brows are what make this look really work! I love the brows in this- I hope to see another look with these sultry, darkened shapely brows. Inspire us, please!
rachel says
you look so amazing! i love that blush on you too… what did you use?
Sanya says
Hi Karen! I noticed you use the two foundations together– it looks great! My skin color is very similar to yours and I find that if I wear all one color, it looks like a mask because my jaw line and around my mouth are a bit darker– do you think dual foundations would be the solution and, if so, how do I go about it? You just look so great in the photos, I’m dying to know how to work with my differently toned skin.
Kalli says
OMG I love that look! I love liquid liner and cat eyes, but it’s the one technique I just can’t seem to master 🙁 but this looks simple enough and that it could hide some mistakes too!
Mahnaz says
This looks amazing on you! It looks exactly like the promo pic, wow!
I love your earrings too. I really wanna know how do you put them on and where you got them from. At first, I thought you just thread them through the hole, but then I couldn’t make sense of it because both ends have the feather dangles. Gosh, I think I sound dumb. Lol.
Danii says
I’m jealous you can get Illamasqua easily at Sephora. For me to even look at Illamasqua in reality, I have to drive a half hour away and I really want Scribe. No like! This looks awesome though, and I do very much love the campaign images for Imperfection.
Ana says
You totally rock this look, and did a fab job! I’m going to try this myself now. Pair it with a LBD and sky high heels. I think for warmer skin tones gold might look better than white. Just a thought.
Ester yeh says
Looks amazing!!!!! And completely wearable for us normal people I think.
GUERLAINADDICT says
Hi, Karen. What lipstick are you wearing in these pics?
Vanessa says
Yes! You did it! And it’s awesome!
I don’t think it needs false eyelashes — my opinion 🙂
helene says
That is an excellent make up. Love your earrings, where did you find them?
Jay @ Wayfaring Beauty says
Sultry photos & you totally rock the speckled cateye! I’m not sure my hands are steady enough for this look so I’m a smidge jealous. Falsies would def. make this eye look a total knockout.
Ankita@corallista says
What a stunning look Karen! Everything done to perfection! I’m now looking for a white liner to recreate this look. Illamasqua takes forever to ship to my place!
Angela @ The Unprofessional Beauty Blog says
I was actually thinking about recreating this look, and I have to say you did a great job.
Ashley says
Love this!
