Hi, everyone! I thought I’d share my face of the day and thoughts on two new-to-me products: Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2016 The Beauty Voyage ($150) and The Body Shop’s Fresh Nude Foundation ($25).
Products used:
- Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade in Blonde (I use this light cool shade for a softer effect)
- Benefit They’re Real mascara
- Sephora Bright Future Gel-serum Concealer
- The Body Shop Fresh Nude Foundation in Bora Bora / Tiare 012
- Dolce & Gabbana Beauty Voyage palette
Since I wanted a sheer and hydrated look, I decided to try out the Body Shop’s new Fresh Nude foundation. With a medium semi-matte finish, it gives a LITTLE glow with none of that awkward greasy 5 p.m. face.
It starts out sticky, but it lasts well for around six or seven hours on my oily-combo face. If you have normal to dry skin, you may really like this option!
Is anyone else “ooohing” and “aahing” right now? Because this is a GORGEOUS little palette, isn’t it? It’s very heavy and very glam! Dolce & Gabbana actually created this to be a full-face travel palette, and it includes four neutral eyeshadows, one blush, one illuminator, and two lip colors. These are all existing products in the D&G line, so it’s also a great introduction to the brand.
The eyeshadows feel very…what’s the word…elegant? I ended up applying my eyeshadow in classic Lisa Eldridge fashion — instead of packing on the pigment, I was more trying to emphasize my eye shape and add a soft reflection to the center of my lid.
The blush is a beautiful matte color, and the illuminator is more like a pressed powder with sparkle (you’ll either love it or hate it).
While I know that Dolce & Gabbana excels with powders, I was blown away by the lipsticks! Maybe I gave up on the idea of a face palette too soon. The classic red lipstick, Devil 620, is ridiculously pigmented in a thin formula, and I highly recommend using the lip brush for accuracy.
Honey 130 serves more as a lip tint, and I could apply this dabbed on with my finger.
You can buy the limited edition Dolce & Gabbana palette at Nordstrom, Harrods, Macys, Saks 5th Ave, and D&G.
The Fresh Nude Foundation is available permanently at The Body Shop.
See you in the next!
Anna

I think the look you created is simply stunning. This is an easy pass for me because it’s not hella pigmented enough for my NC50 complexion, but I do love how you emphasized your eye shape with shadow placement. And welcome to the MBB family! 🙂

Totally understandable, this palette is pretty subtle and the highlighter even had trouble showing on my skin too, hmmm. Thank you SUCH a warm welcome :)))

That palette is soooo gorgeous. Very D&G. How is the benefit mascara? I’ve been thinking of trying it for some time!

Nice review! I own a couple of Dolce & Gabbana two shadow palettes .The lipstick is pretty! But the shadows and highlighter are too light for my complexion.
Anna Oh says
Thank you Denise! I own the D&G bronzer and the texture of that is amazing too. The highlighter had difficulty showing on me as well–hope their next release will work out better for you.

Love your illustration and review. The foundation looks lovely, but that could just be your skin. I’ll have to check it out!

Thank ya Allison 🙂

The colors look cool in the pan and so warm on your arm/face. I’d have to swatch it before purchasing for sure.

Beautiful look, and gorgeous red lipstick! But I am a bit confused – the palette looks to have blue-grey tone eyeshadows, but they seem to translate to brown on you? *rubs eyes, it IS 4am here*
Anna Oh says
Thank you! Hmmm the photo of the palette might be a little off–my apologies. The swatches are truer to life. The eyeshadows look cooler in the pan than they swatch as well–the last color looks like a charcoal but there’s def hint of brown in there when swatched 🙂

This was stunning! I didn’t know they had a palette out. I must go hunting!
Anna Oh says
Yes I didn’t know about their Spring launch either!
Maisha Haque says
Love the art 🙂 how was the mascara, and was this a black mascara or brown? Is it any less waterproof than the original formula, or any noticeable difference between the formulas? Every one loves the original but my eye gets irritated by it, so was hoping the new formula was different. Great job on your first post!!!

As I’m newer to the high-end cosmetics, I don’t believe I’ve seen a review for a Dolce & Gabbana palette; what a great intro to a fabulous product! I’m fair skinned so I think this would be an excellent selection–going on my wish list! Thank you for the look (beautiful!) & your review.
Anna Oh says
Hi Holly! Thanks for the kind words 🙂 If you are fairer skinned, this is definitely an amazing pick to try out some D&G product!

Beautiful – you have a lovely complexion!

Welcome.
I only recently tried a TBS complexion product (the lightening drops) that I enjoy a lot, so I might have to venture into their make up range a little further soon.

Hi Anna! I love your illustration and your eye look is great, too. It’s D&G, so the price is no surprise, but the palette does seem really versatile and wearable.
Anna Oh says
Thank you Kim! I also appreciate the fact that they didn’t skimp out on packaging–it’s perf!

Excellent into post on MBB!!! I do like the palette but think I would have to pass. The shades are a bit too pale for me but I do loooooove that red lipstick! I think I’ll have to start giving D&G lipsticks a try. 😀
Btw, YOUR DRAWING IS GORGEOUS!!!! I love your art style!
