Hey, celebutantes! Remember the Benefit holiday 2009 kits from a few weeks back? This morning I felt like playing with ’em, so for my look today I put Celebutante and Powderazzi to work (along with some goodies from Benefit’s permanent line).
I wasn’t feeling too coordinated (observe my birdsnesty hair), so I went with an easy pewter eye that didn’t require a ton of blending, pairing it with a plum lip — which initially seemed like a good idea but didn’t turn out great judging by these pics, LOL! Once I eat my lipstick off, I’ll probably change to something more neutral.
What makeup are you wearing on this terrific Tuesday? 🙂
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I feel like I might’ve made poor makeup choices this morning. Nothing terrible… but wishing I’d gone with Urban Decay 24/7 Stash instead of old reliable black liner. Both define my eyes, but the color of Stash makes me look more alert (and happy) somehow.
My best choice this morning was using Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfecter’s highlighter all around my eyes. I might not look bright-eyed and bushy-tailed, but I don’t come across quite as tired as I feel. 🙂

Very pretty eye look!
LOL! What you call “birdsnesty” I call a low-frizz day! 😀

I’m considering the Celebutante set, only because it has everything and would be great for an overnight bag. Seems like the colors are very wearable so I might just cave and get it.

FIRST! :)… oh shoot, someone beat me to it. Haha!
I love this look, so yes I’m one of those who’ll be asking for a tutorial! 🙂
Today I met up with some parents at the school I teach so I had to be a little dressed up. And by dressed up I meant a dab of foundation on problem areas, some bronzer, MAC’s Brule and Woodwinked on the lid, Blacktrack Fluidline on the upper lids. I don’t normally get to wear makeup to work because I usually sleep in.
The “star” of my look was ModelCo’s Cheeky Tints lip and cheek stain in Rosy Red on my lips. I loved that it lasted on me almost the whole day, needing to reapply only after meals. And it didn’t even fade fully then, it still left a nice pink tint to my lips (it just wasn’t as red as it was when freshly applied). Love love love. I just might be trading in all my other lipsticks for that <3

Hey Karen! I just got Celebutante from the FF sale, but I haven’t had a chance to play with it yet. I would love to see a tutorial!
Mariah says
Ooooh! I think you should wear that lipstick all day! I love it! I like berry colors though! It’s so pretty on you!
ines, felix and kitten (the office kitties) says
i don’t mind the plum actually. IMO it looks quite nice… but you could go with a nice neutral pink and have a nice look too!
it’s been a while… how’s the new house?
i’ve been so busy and tired with life lately… so makeup has been pared down significantly, except for friday nights when i still make an effort.
today i’m wearing mac select-cover up in NW15 (i’ve switched to my winter concealer) over my dark circles (thanks for the tip on mixing eye cream with concealer btw, it’s awesome, i do it with my body shop vitamin E cream now), bobbi brown pot rouge lips & cheeks in powder pink set with a bit of bobbi brown powder blush in nectar, clinique high impact mascara in black, and a bit of NARS the multiple in copacabana on brow bones for lift and brightening… nothing too groundbreaking.
i’m also wearing l’oreal color juice in watermelon crush layered over LUSH whipstick lipbalm.
happy tuesday!

Hey Karen..
That looks really good! I love it.
I broke out brown eyeliner from Avon and did a little cats eye. Then put on some nude lipstick with gloss. I feel good. (oh and foundation and powder.. can’t live without that)

Actually, I think the plum lip looks really nice with the gray eye. Maybe because that’s combination I would have put together. What is that lippie anyway, it’s really pretty.

Give me a break, girl… you look great! Would love to see a tutorial – they’re super helpful and pretty much the only way I can re-create (sort of) what I see that I’d like to wear. I just don’t have that creative mind!

This is a beautiful look! And I love the lip color, it’s very pretty and I think it goes well with the eye makeup.

You look great Karen!
The lippy is probably No Competition, am I right?
I just received the Celebutante last week and I adore it.
Lady’s choice is a great nude, No Competition is also nice, but it can look a bit too much on my pale skin (my skin has to look really flawless in order to pull off these dark lip colours and flawless it looks about once a year:().
The eyeshadows are gorgeous-soft, pigmented. Dallas is a great goes-with-almost-everything colour.
Would love to see a tutorial on this look!
Have a lovely day…
Karen says
Hi Klara,
Good eye! Yup, that’s No Competition layered beneath I’m With the Band Gloss.
Hmm, how about using No Competition as a stain? You can dot it on your lips lightly to add just a hint of color. If it’s still too dark then blot.
Rae says
You look stunning, girl! The lip colour looks fine to me — the shade’s gorgeous, and I *think* that because it’s not a shimmery colour, it doesn’t compete too much.
As for the tutorial? Yes please!!
.-= Rae’s last blog post… So how does a line famous for oil cleansing fare with eye creams? =-.
Karen says
Hi Rae,
Aww, thanks. I ended up wearing it for half the day, then switching to the neutral shade from the palette.
How was your Tuesday?
Bonnie says
Hi Karen! It’s a somewhat gloomy Tuesday afternoon here in LA. The overcast sky and wind do nothing to help me feel less tired. Being that I’m out of work, though, I think perhaps I will take a nap (since I can!).
Today I’m wearing Bare Minerals on my face, Shiseido Hydropowder shadow and Clinique High Impact mascara on my eyes, and Bonne Bell Lipsmackers on my lips (it’s like being a kid again!).
I’m really wanting that nap…
Karen says
Hi Bonnie,
Soon you’ll (hopefully) be back on the work train. Gotta take those naps when you can, right?
BTW, what kind of job did you do? Are you thinking of staying in that line, or trying something new?
Kristen says
Yes to the tutorial! I love the eyeshadow.

I think Benefit’s Celebutante holiday set is one of the best Benefit has to offer. No your hair doesn’t look like a birds’ nest. I wish my hair was that long and that thick!

Hi Amy,
I desperately need to get it cut! I’m about two months overdue. 🙂
Do you think you might get the set?
Catherine says
Wow, this look is gorgeous! I am actually pleasantly surprised by the results of this palette. =)
Today I’m wearing Shu Uemura’s Fleur de Source palette (which is slowly disappointing me because even though the shades are beautiful, the shadows are creasing pretty badly on my inner corners…), Laura Mercier Apricot face tint and Orange Blossom blush, as well as her stickgloss in Rosewater.
