This is what happens when, after a week of heavy rains, the sun comes out in full force: everything blooms! The pollen count goes through the roof!
My allergies have been so bad today that I’ve had to lock myself indoors…which isn’t all bad, because NARS is keeping me company. 🙂
For my makeup today, even though it’s indoor-only, I went with NARS Summer 2012. I’m wearing the Marie-Glante Eyeshadow Duo ($34), the Calabria Soft Touch Shadow Pencil ($24), Libertè Blush ($28) and the Never Say Never Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($24).
Stupid allergies…
My eyes are itchy, I keep sneezing, my nose is running, and all Tabs has to say about it is, “Mrow? Can we go outside?”
Poor guy. The grasses on his favorite hill seem to have grown tall overnight, and all he wants to do is go outside and explore.
Hmm… Maybe if I wear one of those painter’s masks El Hub has.
Oh, boy. That would shake the neighbors up. “Um, Joe! You gotta see this. Now the girl with the makeup — yeah, the one who had the bow and arrow — is walking her cat on a leash and wearing a white mask.”
LOL!
Tell me about your makeup look today. Did you wear something conservative, casual or edgy/cool?
When lightning strikes!
Photo via Daily Mail
Ever see a picture and think to yourself, “Damn, I wish I’d taken that”? That’s how I feel about this pic of lightning striking the Bay Bridge (the bridge that connects San Francisco to the East Bay).
It was taken from the photographer’s apartment window a couple nights ago. I think it was the night after that freak hailstorm I told you about.
Neat, yah? He kept the camera’s shutter open for 20 seconds to capture all of the strikes that occurred over that time.
Now when someone says to him, “Lightning never strikes the same place twice,” he can say, “Well, let me show you this picture I took.”
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I love the lips. The eyes I think are too shimmery for me. I always feel weird in anything too shiny.

You look beautiful, and yes that pic is amazing!!!

I love the eyeshadow! I love purples because they make my green/hazel/brown (my eyes can never choose what color they want to be) eyes pop!
I don’t usually wear make-up daily. I’m a nanny so wearing make-up kinda seems like a huge waste of time during the week haha! So my make-up look consisted of sunscreen. Go me.

So fresh and pretty!

Pretty Pretty! I love doing purple eyes! During the workweek I do concealer/powder, mascara, and blush, which right now is a Barbie Loves MAC Beauty Powder, so old, i know! I am a MAC hoarder and am working on using up all the makeup I have before I get new! The Back 2 MAC program really helps, I get so excited when I have enough containers for a free lipstick!

So sorry to hear about your allergies, I feel your pain! Every spring it’s like I have a cold for a month straight. Since moving to southern Cali (i’m from norcal) my allergies have actually gotten a lot better! Today I used MAC’s Modern Pewter and Young Venus, both dry with a fluffy brush. I love using the extra dimension e/s that way for a subtle effect 🙂

Karen, you look gorgeous! I went a bit out of my comfort zone today and wore some purple shadow.
I hope your allergies get better so you and Tabs can get outside. I know my kitty employer gets quite demanding when he doesn’t get some fresh air. 🙂
Have a great weekend!

Those colors look amazing – I certainly wouldn’t guess from how lovely your eyes look that you’re in the midst of allergies! I think you should definitely shake things up for the neighbors and wear that whole getup on your walks:)

Aww, I hope your allergies ease up soon! Your makeup’s looking fab either way, though – I’d have never guessed it was that time of year if you hadn’t said anything 😉 (Edmonton’s still freaking out, with regards to the weather. I’m… not really sure what it’s up to, but it’s certainly not Spring-y.)
And as for that photo: all I can say is “whoa!” I’d hate to have been on that bridge while it was happening 😛 Suspensions above water are frightening enough without lightning, thank you ver much!

This look is gorgeous on you Karen, perfect for Spring.

This is a beautiful look! Now I have to get that eyeshadow duo! I can’t wait for your full review!
Sunny @ Mostly Sunny says
Ahhh now I think I’ve GOT to have that duo! So sorry to hear about your allergies acting up. It’s been the same thing here, though that’s because Tango and Muffin have been shedding like two giant allergen-producing machines (my doctor told me very optimistically last year after my blood test:” the good news is, you’re ONLY allergic to animal hair! Not to trees, grass, or anything else!” Umm thanks? I’ve had them for 5 years so you just have to subscribe loads of anti-histamine pills for me now.)
I was swatching/reviewing the Givenchy summer collections, so I did an FOTD with the 4 products I was showing. I used the cream shadow all over my lids, blended some UD Buck into the crease, some Ambre Croisiere all over my face, Mister Body Radiant on my neck, and Rouge Interdit Shine in Delicate Brown on my lips. It’s kinda funny to present a collection that way. My first attempt but definitely won’t be the last!

Holy schmolly. I loved this eyeshadow duo swatch and it looks even more incredible on. I was surprised by how lovely the lips look too.
It took me a while to remember about the bow and arrow. You know how kids are always humiliated or embarrassed by their parents… I wonder what Tabs thinks….
Naomi says
Oh WOW i love the entire look Karen!
Dominique says
Very pretty look Karen. Hope you will recover soon.
I ordered Marie-Galante today, it looks gorgeous.
Nina says
I adore this look, you look awesome, allergies bedanged! 🙂
I really really want Never say Never — my velvet matte pencils need a new sister! 🙂 Speaking of which — ive come to realize that NARS lip products, specifically the velvet mattes are the only lip products I will remember to use. Lesson learned. Now to get rid of my other lip products LOL!
Alison says
Gorgeous!! Love it. Can’t wait for summer!
