Neat and New to Me
Unlike my Unsung Heroes series, which features permanent collection products I’ve known and loved a long time, the Neat and New to Me series showcases permanent collection products that slipped under my radar for a while, but then I discovered them! — and now I think they’re neat and new to me.
The answer, my friend, would be yes. A thousand times yes!
If a roving band of performance artists stopped me one day on the sidewalk in downtown Novato and asked, “Excuse us, miss [yes, they’d say ‘miss’]? Would you mind if we poured this bucket of melted Tom Ford Metallic Mink eyeliner on you to cover your entire body from head to toe like a fabulous coat of golden purply bronze?” I’d say yes, even though it would be hard to clean up, ’cause it would look fabulous.
All I have to say about this eyeliner is “Get outta my dreams; get into my car! — and grab me a backup while you’re at it, yo!” Metallic Mink looks SO lovely smudged along lower lash lines, especially with reddish browns or purply brown eyeshadows on your lids.
It’s a shimmery golden bronzed brown eye pencil with a slight essence of purple that comes through every once in a while, and it’s the closest thing I’ve found to BECCA’s fabled Cabrera liner. Although it’s not an exact dupe, it’s close enough to warrant a ticker-tape parade and a pair of naked baby angels playing harps. 🙂
Too bad this luscious stick of lusciousness is $36, but it’s from Tom, so that’s not unusual. Thankfully, at least, it does come with a pencil sharpener, if that’s any consolation.
The color kicks @ss, the formula feels silky soft, and it’s easy to smudge. Plus, it doesn’t irritate my eyes, which is nothing short of a miracle right now, because this is the time of year when EVERYTHING triggers my allergies.
To quote Jerrica from Jem and the Holograms, “Showtime, synergy!” Metallic Mink on my lower lash lines instantly makes looks more luxe. It looks expensive, but I guess it should for $36.
To find out more or to see Metallic Mink up close, head over to one of Tom Ford’s counters or tomford.com.
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,

P.S. Wow, Halloween is next week?? I usually have my costume all figured out by now, but I’ve been dragging my feet this year.
It’s not that I’m in bah-humbug Halloween grinch mode or anything, because I’ve been digging the Halloween decorations around my neighborhood and keeping an eye out for black cats on my walks (it’s their time to shine, after all). Plus, hello — candy.
But I’m not fully feeling the Halloween spirit. I don’t know if it’s because I can’t figure out my costume, or if it’s because I’ve had other things on my mind (pregnancy much?), but I’m trying… I’m sure I’ll figure something out.
Have you? Are you dressing up this year?
I’m thinking about a tooth fairy, so I might check out the dollar store to look for bulk toothbrushes. Or I might dress up as Tracy Flick from Election, seeing as how Reese Witherspoon is my alleged doppleganger, LOL!

Such a gorgeous color, it has so much depth! I bet it would look amazing smudged all over the lid as a base for shadow too
Polarbelle says
NEED IT!
Kiss & Make-up says
Yay, sounds like it ticks all the right boxes!
As for Halloween, I’m ready for it but no one else around me seems to be, haha 😉 Maybe you and Tabs can dress up like each other? That, or you should play up the whole pregnant theme. You know, do the baby-trying-to-claw-its-way-out-of-the-womb thing, stuff like that.

You took the words right out of my mouth: You totally remind me of Reese Witherspoon!
I didn´t plan on dressing up, but then Mr. Loca (!) requested a look, so maybe I´ll do.

Our department at work voted on a Star Wars theme (boo, I voted for Harry Potter, which came in 2nd place), so I’ve been thinking of trying to be a planet with my hula hoops for rings, but I might just wear my other costume, which is a fairy.
A showgirl / circus friend is doing a Halloween makeup workshop tomorrow, so I’m planning on going to that! Should get some fun ideas.

I’d love to know too! You look fab as usual, I would buy this gorgeous line today if it was not so pricy….any ideas for a more affordable sub?
Minaxi says
Yes! Please tell which lip color(s) you are wearing. I thought it was the MAC Peer Pressure gloss with the Ms. Diva liner? But I’m not sure!! Please post!!
Karen says
Hi gals,
Thanks so much! It’s MAC Ms. Diva Pro Longwear Lip Liner and Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame.
Agata says
That eye pencil is stunning!!
I am trying to figure out a Halloween costume too as I have a party to go to but I cannot decide…I really need to hurry up though!

Billie Ocean jam! Love this liner. Had my heart set on a Marc Jacobs eyeliner set for the holidays, since I missed out on last year’s set, but it’s getting poor reviews. So, I’ll save my pennies. And STARE at this Tom Ford deliciousness….
Kelly B. says
That is a really pretty eyeliner but the the lipstick you’re wearing in the photo above totally steals the show! 😀
Sue M says
Love the liner – however, I really need to know what is on your lips. The lips are beautiful – please share.
Karen says
Thank you, Sue! I’m wearing MAC Ms. Diva Pro Longwear Lip Liner and Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Shame on my lips.

Oh God, another Tom Ford want!! I don’t see myself in the current navy/noir collection (except maybe that shimmery black nail polish) from Tom, but this liner is a different story. It’s going on the try then buy list. Thanks for creating another lemming.

I love this color but not the price!
Erin says
Yes, October has flown by!
I love the sophisticated color.
Rachel R. says
Wow, that’s a gorgeous shade, but priced a too steep for me.
I’m not sure if I’ll dress up this year. I usually do, because I give out the treats, but I can’t this year due to my injury and cast. Unless I get invited to a last-minute costume party, I’ll probably just wear black and some Halloween jewelry. Last year I was a shattered porcelain doll, and got a ton of complements on my makeup job.

First off you look gorgeous! I am really loving your lippie color and looked all through the post for it but couldn’t find it. My apologies for not seeing it if it’s there. What is it!? Thank you so much! Love the blog!
