El Hub asked me if I wanted to go get a slice of pizza with him for lunch today, and I said…
LOL! Sometimes you just really need a slice of pizza.
On the way to the pizza joint he noticed some glitter on my cheeks.
“It’s like Miley Cyrus,” I said, referring to the glitter. “Can’t stop, won’t stop.” 🙂
Between the MAC 3D Glitters I was wearing earlier and the Lancome eyeshadow I’m wearing now, the theme for today is definitely looking like glitter.
Which is all up in the mix, by the way, in Lancome’s new $51 six-pan Azur Chic Color Design eyeshadow palette.
But it’s cool. As long as I don’t forget to tap my brush to unload some of it before applying, very little of it ends up on my cheeks.
A few flecks do make their way down there, though, especially with one or two of the shades, particularly the deep bronze I’m wearing here on my lash lines and in the crease.
Its teensy, tiny flecks of gold glitter don’t really show up in swatches, but they do show up on my lids when I buff things out.
And, uh, because of the amount of sparkle we’re talking about here, you might want to throw one of the matte shades from your collection into the mix for contrast. For the bronzy gold look I’m wearing here, I used warm reddish brown MAC Texture in the crease to balance out the shimmer.
I’m still getting to know Azur Chic better, but even with the minor fallout isn, I like it so far. I think I’ll be able to do a lot of looks with these colors. This doesn’t seem like a run-of-the-mill summer eye palette.
Azur Chic is currently available with the rest of the Lancome French Riviera summer collection at Lancome Counters and online.
Chandelier
Have you heard Chandelier by Australian singer/songwriter Sia? I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since I heard it last night on The Voice.
Pretty catchy tune. I like it, and there’s something haunting about it… I can’t figure out if it’s trying to make me laugh, or cry.
Sia has written songs for Beyonce and Rihanna before, and this one does have kind of a Ri-Ri vibe to it, I think. Apparently, the video is also getting a lot of attention since it came out a few days ago.
It stars a young dancer named Maddie Ziegler from the Lifetime reality TV show Dance Moms and has some pretty phenomenal choreography. It’s like the video really is the song in visual form… Makes me wish I was still taking dance classes.
Check it out.
Hope you’re having a good Tuesday so far. Your nephew says “mrow!”

Different than the typical Lancome summer palettes! They always have hella glitter, but usually there’s a turquoise. Love the bronzy color in particular!
Karen says
Totally! I don’t mind the glitter, although it would be nice to get a matte up in the mix once in a while. Have you done any summer beauty shopping lately?
Chelsea says
Not really! I bought some samples of a Paula’s Choice serum with Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Ferulic acid (supposed to be a bit like the SkinCeuticals one) and it is making my skin fabulous, so I might end up springing for the full size. Another great skin find has been First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Liquid Recovery – definitely helps with some of the redness I get! I’ve been not wearing much foundation, just tinted sunscreen lately. I want to buy some new lipcolors though! And those new Becca Beach Tint Souffles are calling my name! And as far as things I need, it’s about time for a new tube of mascara, which means some Chanel fun.

LOL the Miley refrence was too funny! This is a really pretty palette though. As usual, you’ve managed to create quite a beautiful look with it! I just adore those lashes!
Karen says
Thanks! They are Ardell 120s. Love them! So comfy and easy to apply, too.

The eyes got totally sidelined by your lips and cheeks! The bronze reminds me of MAC Teddy! I think that would give a similar effect on the eyes!
Karen says
Yup, or Costa Riche.

Aww, so pretty! And such stunning photos 😀 I love the packaging colour of this palette, and the blue shade, but sadly (?) Lancome is one of the brands that actually season matches – so we’re going to get Fall/Winter stuff next, not this!
Erin says
What a great palette, perfect for a vacation!
Danielle says
I really don’t love blue shadow, but it doesn’t matter – this palette is gorgeous! And I love the look you created!
Jintana says
I love the lips! I can’t find it on Sephora. Was this from a previous collection?
Meg says
I don’t typically get sucked in by the expensive limited edition palettes, but my goodness! This one is so gorgeous! $51, though…maybe I’ll just go swatch it…that’s all…just a swatch…can’t hurt anybody…

Oh, the look you have created here is just gorgeous! I need to steal that to try on my daughter for her next show. She is a dancer who has similar eye shape and coloring to yours(Filipina beauty- holla!) The makeup I did for her last show fell short of the effect I wanted because I followed the guidelines provided by the studio. Stage makeup is not one sized fits all! Anyway, since my girl is the same age as this Maddie girl from the video, I have to go on a mini rant. This reality show Dance Moms, is so far removed from the reality of what most real dance moms and kids live. Yes, the competition circuit is a real thing, and there are some crazies who really put their kids in questionable situations all for the sake of promoting them- as in this video. However, most neighborhood dance studios are there because they want to give their students a chance to grow up and have fun the way they did, dancing on small stages for their family and friends at an end of year recital where the hard work that goes into dance and the spirit of youth is celebrated instead of exploited. Competitions don’t have to be about self promotion. At many studios it is healthy and fun, like team sports when done right(OK there are crazy coaches in team sports, too but no one wants to reality tv that). Dance has been a life-saver for my daughter. It keeps her self esteem intact against bullies and protects her from a lot of pressures to be something she is not, and from growing up too fast. If the owner of your kid’s studio seems to be putting his or her ego before the well being of the kids, then it is time to find a studio that will nurture them, body and soul. I have done this and will do it again in an instant if something doesn’t feel right. my girl loves to dance and it is fun for her. It is her outlet to express herself and so far, she has a much healthier attitudes towards her appearance, makeup for instance. Since she HAS to wear makeup for shows, she isn’t eager to pile it on everyday. Since she has to wear form fitting costumes and rehearsal attire, she prefers loose and comfy for school. And for an 11 year old girl, that is just right. OK mini rant turned epic. I’m out.
