Neat and New to Me
Unlike my Unsung Heroes series, which features permanent collection products I’ve known and loved a long time, the Neat and New to Me series showcases permanent collection products that slipped under my radar for a while, but then I discovered them! — and now I think they’re neat and new to me.
You know when you’re driving along and you see someone on the corner waving and spinning one of those huge signs for the discounted furniture warehouse or the Little Caesar’s $2 Tuesday Pizza Special? I feel like I should be doing the same thing next to a Clinique counter, except my sign would read, “EYE MAKEUP LOVERS, IF YOU’RE HELLA TIRED, GO HERE!”
You don’t even know how much their Chubby Sticks have been rocking my world lately. They’re perfect for makeup minimalist mode, or if you haven’t been sleeping well lately (seriously, I go to the bathroom at least four times a night), or if you just want to wear eye makeup but don’t want to spend half your morning blending sh*t out on your lids.
My favorite three shades are Bountiful Beige, Ample Amber and Fuller Fudge, and if you’ve been visiting the blog this week, you may have already seen them in action in this quick blush tip post or when I talked about those Sephora Beauty Classes.
Lightweight, semi-sheer cream shadows in a twist-up stick, they’re $17 each and not too heavily pigmented or shimmery, which I really, REALLY like when I don’t want to deal with intense blending.
I haven’t wanted to spend a ton of time doing my eyes lately, so these Chubby Sticks have been SO GREAT because the colors are so easy to blend and merge into each other.
If I’m just going to be wearing one shade, I’ll run the stick like a crayon across my lids and smooth out the edges with a finger, but if I’m wearing two or more, I’ll use a MAC 217.
They take about five minutes to set, so they aren’t the kind of cream shadows that dry the instant they touch your skin. With these, I have time to buff and blend, so it’s not a battle against the clock, and I don’t have to pull and tug hard on my lids.
As for the wear time? SO EPIC. They’ll last a full eight or nine hours on my combination dry/oily lids, and I don’t even have to involve NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof.
Yeah, I can skip primer with ’em! Just the Chubbies and I’m good.
I’ve been wearing and loving an eye look lately with Ample Amber from my lash line up to my brow bone, Fuller Fudge in the outer corners and Bountiful Beige as an inner corer highlight (oh, and Bountiful Beige also doubles as a highlighter). Then I’ll tight line my upper lashes with Chanel 88 Noir Intense, smudge MAC Costa Riche along my lower lash and water lines and load up on mascara, all of which takes about 10 minutes…which is a lot quicker than doing a 30-minute eye look.
These and a bunch of other colors are available now at Clinique counters and online. Highly recommended!
Your friendly neighborhood beauty addict,
Karen

I’ve been addicted to shadow sticks lately too! I almost forgot how quick and convenient they are to use. My favorites right now are Rimmel Bootleg Brown and Bobbi Brown Golden Pink shadow sticks since I can use them everyday alone or together. Now that I’ve been using them so much I’m tempted to stop by my local Clinique counter to try these. I’m really digging those last 2 shades!

Those shades look beautiful- they looks perfect for an easy everyday look!

I am with you on quick and easy looks. I recently got a Bobbi Brown cream shadow stick in Truffle (a neutral champagne) and I love that I can swipe it on and go. I just do a quick liner in chocolate brown , some mascara and pot rouge on the cheeks. It’s my “go-to” look.

I owned Bountiful Beige for a while now and just picked up Ample Amber a few days ago. Seriously so good!

I have never tried these but Fuller Fudge looks beautiful and I love how easy these are to use.

Very appealing for the days I need to sleep in longer! Important question–are the sticks the kind that twist up? They look like they do & I never seem to be able to properly sharpen chubby sticks with a sharpener.

First, you are my hair fantasy. I have thin/flat hair and just looking at picks of your gorgeous locks just rocks my world! …Sorry if that is weird.
Second, after having 3 babies – it is a most amazing & miraculous experience once you can feel baby moving around…though unfortunately that also means they start to do a dance on your bladder generally at night 🙁 Pros & cons, hey?

I used to have one of these way back! I bought one of the Chubby Stick blushes recently, it’s pretty nice! (Plus Nordies had a GWP, so I got a mini face primer, a Chubby Stick cheek highlighter, and lip gloss in a little bag)
My eyes have been super sensitive lately, so Clinique eye stuff has been good to me.

This will really be your “go-to” after you have that little princess of yours. After my second, Charlotte Tilbury’s shadow stick and mascara was in constant rotation when I had to drop off my older daughter at school with the baby (and I was out of work). I did that combo along with LM Radiant Primer and BB Dark Peach corrector under my eyes. I love a great shadow stick to make my eyes look done under 5 minutes, especially when I am feelin’ like a HELLA TIRED MOM!
Hahaha – I’ll have to check these out!

They’re pretty cool for quick and easy makeup, and deal alert: Clinique counters at Macy’s are giving away a mini, no purchase necessary, and you can choose between Lots of Latte and Curvaceous Coal! I got mine yesterday (I picked the brown) and the offer runs until 09/29.
Erin says
Very nice, I’ll have to swatch some!

These are pretty sticks!! You look stunning! Plus what have you used as lip gloss ?

You’re GLOWING Karen! I bet you’re hearing that a lot these days! I have Fuller Fudge and while I do like the color and formula, something about the tip feels a bit harsh on my eye balls sometimes, maybe because the formula dries up a bit after a few months of use.
